And your other requirements to get the other rig up and running?
622  Economy / Securities / Re: [ANN] New bitcoin mining business listed on the GLBSE - JLP-BMD on: November 16, 2011, 09:22:10 PM
Yea, I have a HCP-1200. It's a beast of a PSU and runs cool and quiet
623  Economy / Securities / Re: [ANN] New bitcoin mining business listed on the GLBSE - JLP-BMD on: November 16, 2011, 08:40:51 PM
We have started renting out contracts again, so yay! Rig 1 is significantly stabler without the faulty GPU in it, so I felt comfortable offering rental services once again. We currently have 200,000 shares purchased for 8.5 BTC.

I hate to keep asking for people to buy shares as quickly as possible, but it is in everyone's best interest to buy up this secondary offering as soon as possible. We currently have ~$400 USD worth of equipment doing nothing because it doesn't have the necessary parts to operate.

All I need to allow this rig to run is a PSU ($300) and fans ($130). This would allow me to move Rig 1's 5970s into Rig 2, where they would run much cooler, and extend their running life.

What size PSU are you in need of?

I would typically go by the 24 weighted average because something is only worth what you can sell it for.

JL421 may be interested.

"To replace the missing 5970s in Rig 1, I am looking at getting some 5870s. We loose some hash from Rig 1, but it becomes stable, and has a lower power draw. It should get somewhere around 1,600 Mhash/s in this configuration."

He has contacted me but has not gotten back to me yet.

Just curious.
What do people have against ASUS cards? I've used a ton of their mainboards without one problem.

Sorry I didn't get here sooner! Please, dear god, tell me you didn't do your idea as stated in the first post yet.
DO NOT plug in your 24 pin ATX power with one PSU and your 8 Pin CPU power with another! you will fry your mainboard!
The best way to do this is to run a 16 gauge wire from your secondary PSU to your primary connecting the power switch cables (takes some time and a bit of know how). Or, you can simply cross the power on to the ground on the 20 or 24 pin ATX power connector to enable it as an always on or switchable PSU.
Power on cable is green, ground is black
If you do it in the manner you suggested you will fry the mainboard and probably blow your PSU and GPU's. Could burn your house down to the foundation as well, who knows.

Make yourself something like this
http://www.mountainmods.com/bitspower-24-pin-atx-always-on-connector-p-520.html
Or just insert some spare 16g wire into the green pin and black pin.
If you're not concerned about modding it you can do this as well
http://www.expresshosting.net/howto/atx-powersupply-modification-auto-turnon.html

Oh, and also...
2x 750W PSU's is plenty to run 4 5970's and an x2 board
632  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Can someone help me install cgminer on linuxcoin? on: November 14, 2011, 05:41:52 AM
sudo ./cgminer
633  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: "Best" GPU Miner with best mh/sec? on: November 14, 2011, 05:36:31 AM
I agree CGMiner is wonderful for management and great 'out of the box'. I seemed to get less stales with GUIminer, but my submissions per card were faster with CGMiner right away. GUIminer's interface left a lot to be desired for me, although its got a nice gui interface it just seemed like a cluster fuck to deal with all those tabs for each card.

If you want manageability though, nothing tops BAMT. Extremely easy config files, GPUMon is a thing of beauty and one button to restart cards is a wondrous thing.

Not positive, but I don't think they make these anymore for this reason. The standard now uses power drawn from two molex powers to one PCIe 6 pin.

Apart from your 'reference cards only' preference, do you have any other opinions / advice for English chaps like myself who can't find reference cards at anything other than ludicrous prices, and prefer 5850s over 5870s due to sheer hash per pound (erm, sorry, very very bad UK / USA joke reference there - I mean hashpower per GBP)?

ETA - DOH - you actually said 'in the US' - sorry, ignore this post unless you can help with the last question....

You could look at my post...
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=51621.0

2.6 Mh/$, convert to GBP or EUR, for each card. They run cool in my open rigs with the fans running at 55% I top out at 63C.
