621  Economy / Speculation / Re: We're at a Canadian ATH, right? on: December 28, 2016, 09:02:46 PM
According to Bitcoinaverage, the old ATH was $1255CAD. We broke that this morning. Now we're at $1291.
I thought that USD ATH was $1263 or something around $1250 at least, so how come canadian ATH was only $1255?
The only explanation I can think of is that Canadian dollars in 2013 was much more valuable, more than USD, is that true?

In 2013 the USD and CAD were relatively close. Looking at the historical data it seems that the ATHs were somewhere around the same price whereas today we're at a Canadian ATH but nowhere close to a USD ATH.

https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/chart/USDCAD=X?ltr=1#eyJtdWx0aUNvbG9yTGluZSI6ZmFsc2UsImJvbGxpbmdlclVwcGVyQ29sb3IiOiIjZTIwMDgxIiwiYm9sbGluZ2VyTG93ZXJDb2xvciI6IiM5NTUyZmYiLCJtZmlMaW5lQ29sb3IiOiIjNDVlM2ZmIiwibWFjZERpdmVyZ2VuY2VDb2xvciI6IiNmZjdiMTIiLCJtYWNkTWFjZENvbG9yIjoiIzc4N2Q4MiIsIm1hY2RTaWduYWxDb2xvciI6IiMwMDAwMDAiLCJyc2lMaW5lQ29sb3IiOiIjZmZiNzAwIiwic3RvY2hLTGluZUNvbG9yIjoiI2ZmYjcwMCIsInN0b2NoRExpbmVDb2xvciI6IiM0NWUzZmYiLCJyYW5nZSI6IjV5In0%3D
622  Economy / Speculation / Re: We're at a Canadian ATH, right? on: December 28, 2016, 08:42:25 PM
I see we were briefly over $1300.

One step at a time.

It looks like it's bouncing around the $1300 mark a lot right now.
Over $1300.. AHHH YA WE ARE!!

Yeah I'm surprised every time I check the price in the morning!

Great news for Canadian's, let's keep calm though & rejoice once we power past the ATH in all national currencies.

Every ATH is a win for bitcoins in that country/region. It should attract some press coverage  Shocked
623  Other / Off-topic / Re: I'm SO overwhelmed. What kind of tablet/laptop/computer should I get? on: December 28, 2016, 06:55:30 PM
Here's what I would ideally want:

4gb ram,
A 128gb ssd not an hdd*
Screen size/resolution doesn't matter
Any GPU that can create vanity addresses with vanitygen(so I don't have to use a CPU). Can't be Intel HD Graphics cards to my knowledge.
It's got to be thinner than a notebook. I don't care if it's a great chromebook or a tablet with a good keyboard.
I'm fine with buying a refurbished model to save money but probably not used.

Budget: $400CAD(ish) max $500 after taxes.

*  A tiny ssd that can be easily swapped out will work too. I don't know much about if every ssd will work with every tablet / laptop though.  Ex: buy this chromebook with a 16gb ssd, sell the ssd for $25 and buy this 128/256gb ssd for $120.

Better yet if anyone knows where you can customize laptops or places where I can easily narrow down these specs that'd be great! I have the hardest time finding a GPU that will work with vanitygen. If someone would like to build this for me that's great too haha.

I was going to type up what you should be buying but I see you have a budget. That's a low budget don't expect much. For that price you'll basically be taking what you can get. Forget the SSD or GPU at $400.00 a cheapo chromebook is in your future.

Now bring that budget up to 1500.00 and were talking.

I may be able to stretch it a bit but this is something close to what I would want. http://m.staples.ca/en/HP-Elite-x2-1011-G1-116-IPS-2in1-Tablet-Intel-Core-M-5Y10c-4GB-LPDDR3-RAM-128GB-SSD-Wireless-LAN-Windows-81-Pro/product_2153153_2-CA_1_20001?langId=1

Doesn't come with a keyboard (oh well) and doesn't have a GPU that I could use (deal-breaker) I don't need an intense GPU for playing games (not a gamer) I just need a basic one to generate addresses every so often and not melt my CPU.

Hmmmm... if I'm not looking to use the GPU often this may be a good alternative. Anyone have experience using an external GPU?

624  Other / Off-topic / Update: Got a nice laptop for under $100 out of pocket. Anyone know about eGPUs? on: December 28, 2016, 06:32:49 PM
Update: Got one way cheaper than expected. Anyone know anything about external GPUs?

Here's what I would ideally want:

4gb ram,
A 128gb ssd not an hdd*
Screen size/resolution doesn't matter
Any GPU that can create vanity addresses with vanitygen(so I don't have to use a CPU). Can't be Intel HD Graphics cards to my knowledge.

Better yet if anyone knows where you can customize laptops or places where I can easily narrow down these specs that'd be great! I have the hardest time finding a GPU that will work with vanitygen. If someone would like to build this for me that's great too haha.

Edit:

Anyone ever used an external GPU or eGPU before? I think this is the solution I'm looking for.
625  Economy / Services / Re: Interest Check: Donald Trump Prank Calls on: December 27, 2016, 11:26:36 PM
Well my interest is why you are doing this. Donald has been voted to be the new POTUS and I think it would be a waste of time to do that, no productivity IMO.
Have you checked YouTube prank videos recently? It is huge entertainment business and it seems that Op wants to grab share of that cake too.
It is hard to talk about productivity here. But the problem with this offer is:

- there is no sample of typical prank calls from Op
- why do you call it Trump's prank calls when you don't sound like Trump?
I do remember the Arnold Swartzegger pranks that were done something like 10 years ago by radio hosts.
Now that was funny!

I remember screwing around with people using those sound boards. Just awesome.

Also, it looks like they're already made up for Donald trump: https://trumpsoundboard.com
626  Other / Archival / Re: ⭐⭐ CRYPTOFORUM.NET ⭐⭐ || NOW OPEN FOR REGISTRATION || on: December 27, 2016, 11:10:33 PM
I am interested for sign up. send me a invaitation. best luck for your site and project.
To sign up on that forum you do not need to wait or get any invitation. You can easily sign up on that forum on clicking the link/button for registration. It is using the same software as all other forums and the system is like this forum.

I think the site run by Motivator is lost already. It now leads to another forum site but I doubt it is still the same site. Well obviously its name is even different so I didn't bother.

Did you make the same mistake I did?

I get redirected to cryptoworld.is, I'm assuming that's the right website? Anyways I wasn't asked for a code and I got a message stating:

"Our systems detect that you may be a spammer and therefore you have been denied registration. If you feel this is a mistake, please contact the Administrator."

Am I missing something? Should I be adding one of these codes in to the who referred me section?

Nope. The website is cryptoforum.net

states it in the OP + Title.

Huh. Not sure why but I'm redirected each time. Is it only happening to me?

Edit: I'm an idiot nvm hahaha. Cryptoforums.net redirects you Wink good thing I don't reuse passwords but they have my email now. Oh well. Spam me up I guess!

It looks like they have the exact same disclaimer as you so I'm assuming that other site is a phishing attempt.

It's cryptoforum.net (no 's'). Maybe that's your issue.
627  Economy / Speculation / We're at a Canadian ATH, eh? on: December 27, 2016, 10:34:13 PM
From what I can tell, the US dollar and Canadian dollar were relatively close in 2013 and we're at $1250 today. This is a Canadian all time high isn't it?

Holy crap. That's exciting!
628  Economy / Reputation / Re: [User Generated] - Known alts of anyone on: December 25, 2016, 01:20:36 PM
At the risk of being off topic... Merry Christmas everyone!!

I do have some alts that I've found but just haven't had any time to get my evidence in order yet. Maybe on the 27th or 28th when the dust settles I'll have something conclusive to share haha.

Also happy Hanukkah and happy (early) Kwanzaa!

I hope everyone has a chance to see friends and family this year!

I do not quite understand what you explain, but I'll put the link up here for him to see if it
i hope it good, it's my ideal, not copy and not really beatifull Smiley

I think he's looking for something a little more... Professional? I'm really not trying to be harsh here. Maybe where the bitcoin looks like it's supposed to be there. Also, is this a paper wallet? If so, where are the private keys stored?
630  Economy / Services / Re: Paying $2 for a simple design on: December 23, 2016, 02:21:27 AM
Well first thing's first, don't use staples or any other 3rd party to print these. For an added precaution make sure you're using a 'dumb' printer (the printer stats never mentioning any memory or storage is a good sign).

Try something like this https://walletgenerator.net/#
631  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin have just dropped $20 in less than an hour. What happened ? on: December 22, 2016, 11:21:14 PM
I have gone for business in about 45 minutes and  1BTC = $870. When I came back home and check the bitcoin prices, It dropped to $850. What just happened ? Can anyone tell me ? I have checked the cointelegraph and coindesk and still no result.

Lol you're very greedy and even more naive. The price goes up ~$100 in the past few days and you're worried about a $20 correction? Really? Come on. This can't be your first rodeo and if it is you're doing a poor job hiding the fact that you bought this account.

Except Chris! because he's irreplaceable Smiley hahaha.

I'm going to have a little looksie and let you know if anything comes of it.

Thanks for running a great signature campaign OgNasty!

634  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China Bitcoin ransomware report- 11.9% victim pay to recover their files on: December 21, 2016, 05:50:59 PM
This is a worrisome big number, 11.9%

This is something I don't understand:
Quote
The victim said he received an email in his PKU emailbox with a PDF attachment. He doubled click the file out of curiosity, then all of his files were locked.

does this mean that there still are antivirus programs that don't detect ransomware?

And about bad publicity:
Somebody smart enough will see thru this and be able to decide that if cyber criminals can rely on Bitcoin, then Bitcoin is a really good coin/currency/asset, actually.

The problem is anyone can use fiat. Your 5 year old knows if they take out the garbage they'll get a dollar, which they can buy some gum with. The problem is we don't want just 'smart people' to use bitcoins, as that's not a large portion of the population. Regular 'non-smart people' that just hear on the news that bitcoins are bad because of this won't think twice about it. Bitcoins are now bad in their eyes. They don't understand anything about bitcoins so if this is the only thing they know they won't get past it unless something good happens from bitcoins.

In the end this is just slowing down adoption.

That's not evidence. They're most likely the same person but you'll need to find an actual link between the two accounts. Either way it looks like they both have red trust so they most likely won't be scamming anyone.

I need some people's opinions. If there are about 170 addresses in a wallet what do you think I should do? Try to link accounts to it or not bother because it may not be a personal wallet? It's unrelated to anything I've already posted.
