621  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Proverbs and Sayings that Act as Triggers to Gambling on: February 01, 2024, 04:56:17 PM
I can create a witty quote and it can be called a proverb over the internet as well. Hence a quote like that does not necessarily mean that it is a good thing or maybe you are understanding it too superficially.

The explanation I would take is that one should take risks in life, not doing so means that they never tried. It was never about gambling with money at all.

Trigger or no trigger, it only acts like one if you are inclined to take it as so. To someone who understands that gambling is mostly a loss for the player, they would not get triggered even at a slightest.
622  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why people mostly fail in trading on: February 01, 2024, 04:52:05 PM
People  fail in trading because they think trading is all about having money to trade and with this profit can be made. Many people disregard knowledge when it comes to trading because they really want to be rich in trading .
Trading is indeed about money, but how we can make money from that is the bigger question. Being narrowed down to only profit making would lead to a trader who does not know when to buy or sell. Patience is important too, without which there will never be a trader. Knowledge is important too, but beyond one stage it is less important - since majority of the spot trading is just buy low and sell high - as long as that timing is proper, you are good.

Failing in trading has many reasons and these are few of the common ones. Be patient, do dummy trading, dont trade altcoins.

My prediction was wrong for the price range of $37.5k - $40k and it seems that the price will indeed stay inbetween $40k - $45k.
Just few more hours left to lock this range and people are going to win a decent 1.9x returns. That's a pretty good return.
The Bitcoin price seems to be resilient at this level and not dropping below 41k USD anytime soon. The longer we stay in such a level the bigger panicky situation it would become when the next up or down trend beings, then everyone will join the bandwagon. Good luck to those who are betting on the same because you never know what might happen in the last few minutes, but it usually takes a day or two to complete such sudden movements, so carry on.

Any more of that ETF good news pumping happening? Grin
624  Economy / Economics / Re: Leadership and Economics on: January 31, 2024, 02:40:46 PM
We are mostly talking in terms of government political leaders here. In which case most of politically biased and although I might agree with some of their actions some might not get my approval but that does not matter at all to the world - that is how the democracy works.

In the context of following a leader, I prefer to learn the good qualities that a leader has and continue on my own instead of following them. A good leader can only lead but unless they have power at hand they cannot change things for the greater good.

Most of the times political leaders are having to face different people from other countries, pressure from communities and attempt to stabilize all of them at the same time. It is not an easy job and I usually keep myself away from such.
625  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Pay off DEBT by do Gambling? think again before you loss more on: January 31, 2024, 02:33:03 PM
Debt payment should be from stable income. Gambling is not a stable income at all.

However this context is very common, because many people take loans to fund their gambling games with the hope that they will double it and pay back with interest while the rest is their money to keep. This does not always work out and when things go South, they take another loan to pay back the old one.

This cycle of debt does not stop and eventually the gambler finds themselves in a tough spot to come out of. Hence taking a loan to gamble or trying to pay back a loan by gambling should be avoided.
626  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Spot trading or future trading which trading is best for beginers? on: January 31, 2024, 02:30:15 PM
Under equal conditions, spot trading cannot be more profitable than futures, since futures trading uses margin and, accordingly, the profit will be large. Accordingly, if the price moves in the opposite direction to your expectations, then the losses will be correspondingly greater than in spot trading.
The profit might be more in comparison to spot trading but so is the risk. Spot is at least safer that you are holding the asset at hand even after changing it to another coin - you should be able to sell it again for something else. While in any other form of trading you are essentially gambling with your asset's price prediction and hence can quickly get washed away.

For beginners, spot is the way to go, they should learn the pros and cons of all these different forms of trading, other than spot, I dont recommend them to anyone.

...what exactly do I tell my wife is the reason I failed to win the FreeBitco lottery last week.?  Huh
I am surprised to know that you tell your wife about these lotteries. Grin

Surely it is a lottery and anybody can win or lose, although having more tickets increases the probability but does not guarantee one. Even a single ticket owner might be a winner if their ticket is a winning one.

It's good it was credited but two hours later I saw it in the history well after launching my tricks. It was the first time I saw that. I have done no offense. I've been playing for a long time
Deposits get credited after one network confirmation which can take long depending on how much fees you paid. Although recently the fees had sky-rocketed, they are down now to manageable levels and they should not take long. If you have any other questions, dont hesitate to ask here.
628  Local / India / Re: Which Country has the Highest Crypto Tax Rate and Which does not? on: January 30, 2024, 02:31:11 PM
I am not moving anywhere. Grin
Moving to a different country just because of crypto taxation is a logical one if the main source of income and livelihood is crypto and nothing else. For enthusiasts, this is not a good idea.

Also this should give us a sigh of relief that we are not the only ones suffering from a humungous 30% taxation.

Spain has the highest taxation on crypto - 47%

629  Local / India / Re: Why is Bitcoin getting dumped after the ETF approval? on: January 30, 2024, 02:26:44 PM
If US can come up with Bitcoin ETFs then why India is not planning to do something like this. Bitcoin is considered a trade able commodity in India. Then it can get traded in Indian stock exchange.
We are always a bit backwards in civilization compared to the peers. We just have to accept that and continue plowing as usual.

...BTW, Indians can invest in Bitcoin ETFs, there is a way to do it but, why anyone would do it as investing in an ETF won't give anyone Satoshis as they will get a paper on behalf of the financial institution.
Interesting, like opening an account to buy foreign stocks - something similar in that lines?

I would have been delighted to see Bitcoin ETFs on Indian Stock market, but that is way ahead of what we have been dealing with here.
630  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Paying with Bitcoin. on: January 30, 2024, 02:23:00 PM
Yup it is completely ok to do so.

But the question is - where will you find a user who is willing to accept bitcoin for selling their product to you?

There lies the limitation, but we as a community are working on this, trying to increase the adoption and mainstream acceptance. My own experience over the last 7+ years on this forum, I have seen crypto grow from a cultish thing to a maintream buzz and this means we are growing steadily.

At present, merchants accepting bitcoin are few and gift cards are another option (fees hurt!). Directly selling bitcoin for fiat and using the fiat to buy your goods is another option but it might not be feasible in many countries.
631  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Alter Ego In Gambling on: January 30, 2024, 02:19:18 PM
Many people have an activity in which they can let go and enjoy themselves to their fullest, where I live the most common place where this happens is a bar, in which people that you can see at your place of work be incredibly professional all the time, seem to transform and become someone else when they drink, but this is not so much a transformation as it is simply those people showing you who they really are and what it is what they truly enjoy.
A simile explaining the situation indeed. Gambling does bring in a rush of emotions and thus a number of neurohormonal changes in the body. This leads to a primal state of the body to reawaken which has been kept in control by years of civilization. It should be kept in control though, because the bad effect is that the casino is taking the control over you if you lose yourself in such manner.

It does not happen to everyone but it happens to many and not just in gambling, but in games involving a lot of emotional flow, these things are not uncommon.
632  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Relationship Between Cryptocurrency and Traditional Banking on: January 30, 2024, 02:15:16 PM
The two are fundamentally different, banks are centralized controlled by some entities to be censored and has an inflationary growth while bitcoin is decentralized without any controlling body thus censorship resistant and has a deflationary growth.

Both are complementing each other at this stage because you cannot completely live on crypto even today and you will need fiat or the help of the traditional banking system. Hence the two are not at war but working together.

Banks have seen the potential in blockchain technology and are involving it in their infrastructure too.
633  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: If a addict lives within, which method would you choose to help them on: January 30, 2024, 02:07:53 PM
Go with number One but eventually it will not work and you will have to resort to number to. Assess whether the person feels the remorse and wants to get into rehab which is essential to understand that they are willing to help themselves.

The method to explain to them that gambling is detrimental to their well being and their lives should be explicit and hammered on them constantly, so they understand that their actions are having a bad effect on the rest of the family. Try to include how they could have done differently with that money.

It is tough trying to help someone in the family, but it is possible so dont lose hope.
634  Local / Mining (India) / Re: How well people here in india knows about Mining on: January 29, 2024, 04:22:24 PM
What is the definition of legit for you as an Indian for me Banks are legit but are they? Legit is a word created by those US/Europeans who know their existence depends on certain words that won't make sense to people in a third-world country. The right word would be a contract that can be questioned and that does not get manipulated. For me mining is dead and staking is the best option over mining.
I would call a mining corp legit, if I have some real life friend overseas and they are mining on cheap electricity and are now looking for investors money to allow themselves to scale into a bigger corp. Indeed I would be interested in investing in such an venture.

Similar projects start everyday but often by random noobs with little or no experience and hence should not be trusted with our money.

And like always, I prefer to buy bitcoin over any of these.
635  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why do many people fail in trade? on: January 29, 2024, 04:17:54 PM
There is one single reason for this.

One thing that comes out front is that many trader become traders when the market is showing the uptrend and the mainstream buzz on crypto is out of the roof. That is the wrong time to buy. These are the same people who will sulk at the bear market and sell off at a loss and then go to reddit to complain that bitcoin is a scam.

These things can be prevented by prior experience to other speculative markets and by dummy trading while reading the past charts.

Still trading is not for everyone, if one continues to lose in trading, better to avoid it.
636  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You must have a source on: January 29, 2024, 04:15:05 PM
This is contrary to another hyped belief "leave your job and do bitcoin" - indeed the OP's statements work better than this.

A stable income is a cushion in the back when the crypto market drops or remains stagnant. You get your monthly crypto buying money from that too. Hence never give less importance to your day job if you have one or if you aspire to be in one.

Crypto is like the alternative income source here, it should be encouraged but never at the cost of the day job.
637  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Increased Gambling Risk for the Younger Generation on: January 29, 2024, 03:37:22 PM
This will make them start to get to know gambling if they see gambling advertisements, and eventually, they will start gambling more often.
A lot of this can be prevented by teaching them about gambling and other vices and how they eventually make the person suffer and hence right in the growing years a child can understand the good and bad and learn to avoid the latter.

Playing once a year is for fun and its not bad - losing the money might actually make that person understand the worth of that money which they could have used to buy something different. Gambling will exist in different forms because of the human nature to take risks but it is upto us how we shape our next generations to face this.
638  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How often do you win? on: January 29, 2024, 03:34:14 PM
And this is what makes this trap so dangerous, anyone can fall into it without even realizing, whether this manifest as competing against your neighbors, coworkers or even other family members, whenever you are trying to keep up with the supposed wealth a person has, by buying something you do not even want, you are falling into that trap.
It can be avoided by just following the right mindset and being disciplined about it. However gambling sites know that competition between players is what drives players to play more so they employ these leaderboard systems, VIP systems so people can appear in these "hall of fame" and brag about it. It gives them no monetary benefit and only a puffed up chest but this is what casinos want.

Eventually they will play more to maintain that status and the casino will get its profit in the long run.

640  Local / India / Re: New Scam related to URL ban for exchanges in India - [Awareness] on: January 28, 2024, 06:51:58 AM
Everyone wants to get rich quick and that is the reason why these scammers try to use a shortcut to get rich quick.
Instead of focusing on being productive and developing real usecase products, they scam others and get quick and easy money.
It's the greed of quick money that makes them keep scamming others but at then end, at some point of time, they have to payback. #Karma.
Actually the punishment for cybercrime is almost non existent, they eventually cannot be convicted and left off with warnings. There needs to be harsh punishment for such crimes similar in the lines of robbery, murder and other heinous acts. Otherwise that "fear" of prosecution will never come in the hearts of possible criminals.

If the punishment is upgraded and people start becoming aware, the prevalence of such scams can reduce.
