621  Bitcoin / Press / [2017-12-02] CFTC approves bitcoin futures to trade on CME and CBOE on: December 02, 2017, 01:28:58 PM
                                        

United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission will allow Bitcoin futures to trade on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and the Chicago Board Options Exchange (CBOE). Then the world’s largest and oldest futures exchange, the United States Chicago Mercantile Exchange Group (CME) announced that the launch of BTC Future will begin December 18, 2017.

CBOE has also submitted to regulatory authorities the identification of relevant products for BTC futures, which is still to be announced.

Bitcoin platinum set to fork on 12th december.

A hard fork is a process of splitting any currency’s Blockchain . It may be done for several reasons, such as fixing serious security loopholes in a cryptocurrency’s source code, implementing new features and reverting transactions (as was the case for Ethereum’s hard fork after The DAO was hacked). Hard forking requires a consensus of the majority of the nodes within the network of a cryptocurrency, after which they all switch to the new Blockchain, leaving the older version behind.

We have seen a lot of hard forks since this year with good reasons and visions to provide a better version of bitcoin.

But as for Bitcoin platinum one will wonder what the mission is and the cause of the fork is.

India, much like anywhere else in the world, is seeing an unparalleled demand for bitcoin after the cryptocurrency swell to historic all-time high above $11,000 this week, within days of breaking through the $9,000 landmark on Sunday.

Investors in the country, both retail traders and neophyte adopters are catching the bitcoin bug. “We are flooded with requests,” said one bitcoin executive at Coinsecure, a bitcoin exchange located at India’s capital of New Delhi. “In the past week alone, we have seen double the number of registrations. Signups are happening at full capacity.”

Unocoin, India’s highest-funded BTC exchange, processed over 200,000 new KYC-enabled registrations over the last month alone, compared to the 100,000 signups amassed over three entire years prior.

On November 29, Nasdaq exchange announced it will begin to offer Bitcoin futures arround the first half of 2018, according to a report issued by the Wall Street Journal.The emergence of futures markets should pave the way for an ETF for the cryptocurrency and allow the stock exchange will follow suit behind other Chicago-based markets that have already indicated interest in bitcoin future trading.

While Nasdaq does not have a hard date set for its product, since 2015, the exchange operator company has offered an exchange-traded note based on bitcoin on its Stockholm exchange.

This IRS and Coinbase legal better is indeed turning in favor of Coinbase. IRS reduced the demand of 500,000 account to 14,000 which is almost 97% reduction. Also, Coinbase stated that the earlier demand of documents by IRS has also reduced significantly. Thus, a half battle is won.

Bitcoin brought a culture of financial anonymity. This legal battle was an important step in view of taxing cryptocurrency. These exchanges are running on the promise of maintaining user privacy. However, they still need to give 14,000 records. But a small check by IRS over on going cryptocurrency transactions won't be bad as well as stated by IRS that it would in favor of customers only.

Following the suite filed by the government of the United State through IRS against Coinbase for not allowing them to have access to the data of their customers.The government according to the blog post update on the court proceeding from Coinbase on November 4 reads;

The government has never alleged any wrongdoing on the part of Coinbase.
