I'm using Blockchain.info. I don't know why, but I see it as a safer more convenient way to deposit my money than an offline wallet and I can use the website anywhere I go with ease. It doesn't need to sync.
FTFY Blockchain.info is by no means a safer wallet than a desktop wallet. It is a web wallet, at the mercy of the Blockchain.info. If they were to shut down, you would lose your Bitcoin. Also, the wallet technically does need to sync, it relies on blockchain.info's node being synced, which it may not necessarily be. Bitcoin core introduced pruning in v12 for wallet functions, which keeps down the download size but still requires a bit of a sync: https://bitcoin.org/en/release/v0.12.0#wallet-pruningHaving your own copy of the blockchain is kind of the point, but you could always use a web-wallet, coinbase, etc. (Just remember to make sure you have the ability to claim your private key, use 2fa, and a strong unique password) Bitcoin Core with pruning still needs to sync, so it is not ideal for someone who doesn't want to wait. Pruning simply makes the storage requirement irrelevant, it does not affect the sync time.

There is absolutely no wallet that needs no syncing whatsoever. It is simply impossible because without syncing it is impossible to know an address's balance. There are wallets that don't have to download the full blockhain and thus sync much faster then bitcoin core. I recommend that you use Electrum.

what if i get banned on this forum? will i be able to get access on my account? am i banned forever or just suspended for about a week?
A ban message will usually include the time limit of the ban. However, if it does not, then it is a permanent ban. If you are banned, you the person is banned, not just your account. This means that if you have multiple accounts, you cannot use those accounts to continue posting. If you do and are caught, then all of your known accounts will be permabanned. If you are banned, you should be able to still read and browse the forum, just not post.

thank you to the developer tho and i hope you can add some features soon.
What other features are you looking for? You can see potential activity, post counts, addresses used and anything else I would think anyone would need. Well i just want to ask if the estimation price of your account would varries on the price of bitcoin then if not can i suggest that one? Because it would be much better i guess? No. Just no. I will not link the price of an account to fiat. May i know why sir? Well i am just suggesting tho but yeah i want to know why would you not link the account price to fiat and seems like you really hate it? This is a bitcoin forum. Things here are priced in Bitcoin, not fiat.

What wallet software are you using? Change addresses should be automatically added to your wallet, and you should not need to manually "recover that amount".
I am using the original bitcoin core 12.1 . The wiki sais : "However, the GUI in the default client does not display them in the address book, therefore a recommendation is to backup wallet.dat every 50 transactions" I guess I am using the default client (?) and this is probably why I don't see these transactions in my transaction history , hence the confusion ? Change is not another transaction, it is another output of a transaction. The wallet automatically manages the change for you, so you do not need to manage anything. However, you should back up your wallet every 100 transactions since the wallet pregenerates 100 new addresses and after one hundred transactions without address reuse, your old backups will not have any new addresses so you may lose Bitcoin.

Hi Lutpin , thank you for your help . Very interesting . I'm not sure I fully understand the principle , even after reading that wiki page . Does this mean every time i sent money i have to keep an eye on the added amount so i can recover it ? I have done a transaction in the past where also funds were added : https://blockchain.info/nl/tx/df10ea0023eac09f2c6f3a95387119b3a463bfc175066ade8227c4957f45d74eIt was an extra 0.01000034 BTC . So i need to recover those myself ? There is nothing you need to recover. Your wallet software automatically generates those addresses for you. It then sends the change to a newly generated address that is still in your wallet. Those Bitcoin are still yours and you can still spend them. Please keep in mind that addresses are not the same as wallets. Rather a wallet is a collection of addresses.

No KYC or AML. There really is no need for identity verification for most trades and many exchangers here don't need to know your identity.

Looks like a great idea. I've told my campaign manager about this and I hope he joins as well.
Some questions: Will the blacklist be made public? ' Will members on the blacklist be marked in some way (e.g. neutral trust indicating user is on the list)?
Will members be notified if they have been put onto the blacklist?

You can try to fix it by starting Bitcoin Core with the -salvagewallet option. It may work, but it may not be able to recover all of the private keys, so you may lose some of your balance.

Thanks for the answer first ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Just to get it right: At the moment, i can just recover my wallet using the paperbackup with armory? Or how can I import my private keys in my "blockchain.info" wallet for example? As this is a rootkey I cant simply import it there, right? Is there any tool besides from armory itself to get the privatekeys related to the rootkey so i can import them with a third-party wallet? As of now there are no third party tools or wallets that can open armory wallets. You can export individual private keys from Armory though.

Alright so if i cover the following:
SSH'ing into server = I can stop that with ssh keys and disallowing root login Wallet.dat = Just have an unbrutable password Bitcoind = restrict ip and cookie auth only
There shouldnt be anything else i should be worried about right?
Short of a zero day vulnerability in any software on the server, that's all you really need to be secure. Side note, you will want to set up automatic backups and frequently back up the wallet.dat file to a safe location.

When running a (commercial) server that regularly calls to the bitcoind client to send/receive coins and create addresses.
How much more security can choosing to use mutli-sig addresses provide (e.g using bitgo)
You can get more security by using multi-sig but the main caveat is that send Bitcoin from the server is a major pain in the ass. What risks do i face if i choose to just use a normal bitcoind client on my server?
You face an attempted attacks on SSH'ing into your server in order to steal the wallet.dat file (fixed by using a strong wallet password) and attempts to connect to the RPC server in order to spend Bitcoin from your server (fixed by restricting IP access, blocking port 8332, and using cookie auth instead of rpcuser and rpcpass). What risks do i face if i choose to use a mutli-sig provider?
You rely on a service to continue to stay up and running. If they were to close down, API calls would need to be rewritten. It is a hassle to send Bitcoin from your server.

Armory users a heirarchical deterministic (HD) wallet. This means that each private key is derived from a root key via a fixed method. This means that the derived private keys will always be the same so long as the same method is used. This only one backup is every needed in order to back up a wallet.
Other wallets do in fact use HD Wallets. They also only require one backups ever. However those wallets are not yet compatible with Armory. Armory uses its own key derivation method. Most other wallets use the BIP32 standard. Migration to that standard is planned.

You can try to recover the password by brute forcing it with https://github.com/gurnec/btcrecover. You can use the password you have and use that as a base to make brute forcing it easier. Otherwise, there isn't much you can do.

ok so what do you suggest please? im not super i.t savvy but kinda know basics. any help or advice would be great, i have bitcoins in there and thought they were safe saved away.
Firstly, back up your wallet. Open the windows file explorer and type into the top bar and hit enter. You should see a file named wallet.dat. Copy that file to a safe location. Next, you should install the latest version of Bitcoin Core, 0.12.1. You can download that here: https://bitcoin.org/en/downloadAlso, your hard drive is probably too small. To run Bitcoin Core, you will need to have a larger hard drive or enable pruning.

First of all, you are probably running a super old, out of date software that might have some issues with connecting to the network.
Secondly, the blockchain is very big, it looks like you ran out of disk space so it crashed.
