6221  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Are we heading for full recovery now? on: April 18, 2018, 01:24:37 AM
I think right now crypto market already bottomed at 6k, so it is unlikely to go below that value..
However, it's also difficult to break 10k resistance.
I think this summer won't break 10k, but strong probability it will recover at the end of 2018.
6222  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: who invested earlier this year? on: April 18, 2018, 01:20:45 AM
It's not a problem if you use "spare" money to invest, because crypto price will eventually go up again.
However the time frame is uncertain.

Meanwhile if you use debt then i'm sorry of your situation,
Maybe you might have to consider cut-loss.

6224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Not every blockchain project has a good future on: April 18, 2018, 01:14:09 AM
True, a lot of projects now smell like soft scam,
I mean their business model still can run without token, or in other words token doesn't add value.
Wiseman said in order to beat existing company you will need to do 10x or 100x better.
6225  Economy / Economics / Re: A coin with a floating supply. Is it possible? on: April 15, 2018, 05:38:19 PM
How feasible is this? If you think it doesn't make sense, then what are your reasons?

I agree with you, it doesn't make sense if it use floating supply (like fiat), however tail emission still might work?!
IMO no algorithm at the moment can do the job of central bank related to supply control, well sophisticated AI might do. But why bother do that if it's just the same as fiat.
Also deflationary mechanism proposed by crypto seems worth to try considering fiat failure.
6226  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: How do you keep your mnemonic phrases? on: April 15, 2018, 05:30:35 PM
First of all, don't use Windows since it has the worst security.
Antonopoulos recommend to just use the easiest (and actually has the lowest failure rate), that is simply write it on paper and keep it in somewhere safe.
Don't be overly smart he said.

Other than that, use offline linux OS to keep the soft copy if you want.

Quote
Investing in cryptocoins or tokens is highly speculative and the market is largely unregulated. Anyone considering it should be prepared to lose their entire investment.

How fucking stupid is that?  Anyone investing in crypto should prepare to gain 10X their entire investment.  This would be a much better way to prepare as it is far more likely to happen than a loss of entire investment.  WTF is wrong with journalists today?

Well sir, the majority of them I think is an "old school" journalist. Just like "old school" economists, they think bitcoin don't have fundamental value.

But ofcourse we disagree with them.

6230  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Monero under 25 cents? What the hell _were_ you waiting for? on: April 13, 2018, 07:47:05 PM
I posted this thread in early 2015 - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=925649 - titled 'Monero under 25 cents? What the hell are you waiting for?'

For some reason it got locked which is a mystery in itself but hey I respect that. Now I'm posting this thread for the discussions started in that very thread to continue.

If you were around at the time did you buy some XMR for yourself and lock it away? I mean 1000 XMR for $250 wasn't so much. Anyone could have dropped some into it and it absolutely made sense at the time as it does today to use that coin

The coin is simply such a good one

Yep, Monero is a very good coin!
In fact i wrote some short article about Monero

6231  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: Bitcoin Turun Bukan Karena Investor atau Isu negatif tapi Monopoli Produsen Asic on: April 13, 2018, 02:24:03 PM

6232  Local / Bahasa Indonesia (Indonesian) / Re: (Lanjutan) Pergerakan Harga Bitcoin Berdasarkan Analisa Tekhnikal l Yuk Diskusi on: April 13, 2018, 03:34:14 AM

6233  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to choose the legit coin at launch? on: April 12, 2018, 06:25:41 PM
Thanks for your links, guys. But I know how to use Google. Grin
It's not about choosing ICO, I'm asking about the criteria for selecting new mineable coins.
When I look at the Announcement thread my brain explodes from a variety of coins and their similarity with each other.  Huh

Very well sir, if you are talking about mineable coins then:

1. No pre-mine, No dev fees (or reasonable dev fees)
2. Fair launch
3. 100% POW preferable
4. ASIC resistant algo preferable
5. Genesis dev vision -> why he/she willing to launch a new coin

It's better to check their GitHub code to make sure no shenanigans (mainly about point 1)
6234  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Taxes for crypto on: April 11, 2018, 10:28:28 AM
What do you expect after taxes being provided for cryptocurrency exchanges by USA?

It's actually good when tax is applied to cryptocurrencies just like stocks or other assets.
It means that the government is open to new things.
Instead of banning all crypto, this way is better to benefiting government and crypto owners.

At least we can expect some sort of protection, when exchanges cannot just run away with our money
6235  Economy / Economics / Re: The HODL strategy is not actual on: April 11, 2018, 10:20:45 AM
This morning I saw an article where a guy made a simple calculation through Google trends about HODL strategy, and it showed that call to HODL used less and less from February of 2018. Popularity of word Bitcoin and crypto currency is also falling down.
Why it is so? Do not people believe in Bitcoin and it's bright future anymore?
No matter on such tend I am going to HODL my founds till bitcoin will not come back to 20k$ Grin

Usually bitcoin price rises when public interest at the lowest, and when it's overhyped it started to fall..

I'm predicting at Q2 or sooner (when everyone eyes not looking into bitcoin), it will rebound and reach new high -> then FOMO -> then bull run -> then crash..

All over again
6236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Signature bounty campaigns - Negative trust on: April 11, 2018, 10:03:53 AM
I'm curious about the reasons you been given negative trust. What was you doing? Suggesting something illegal? How does it works?

Yeah I thought that only merit counts.. and now, more problem appear...

How does it works dude?

Hope everything will be fine though

6238  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Can Monero "moon" in the near future? on: April 09, 2018, 05:15:28 PM
Good day sir!
As we know, the Cryptonight V7 hard fork is done and Monero hash rate decreases from 1GH/s to 380MH/s (to date). It means that huge ASIC hash power has been mining Monero all this time. With the removal of ASIC, now mining Monero is much more profitable compared to any cryptocurrencies. It will invite many GPU miners to mine Monero -> receive Monero -> transact using Monero. This is really healthy ecosystem for cryptocurrency! It reminds me of how Ethereum become so profitable to mine thus became #2 Smiley

Now I think Ethereum already full of ASIC mining in the background, and no real effort to remove ASIC from their side. I think ETH price will stale or only have a little growth. And Zcash? no good news also from their side. With new modified cryptonight algorithms (v7, lite, etc.) as the only ASIC resistant algorithm, I believe that Monero and other cryptonight based coin will rise in 2018.

What do you think?
6239  Economy / Economics / Re: Why well-distinguished economists are negative on bitcoin on: April 09, 2018, 04:48:13 PM
One would be quite hard-pressed to find a positive thing that well-distinguished economists had to say about crypto. However, it could be argued that, since crypto is an attack on traditional economics - the field most of them devoted their lives to - they feel there is nothing that crypto, and by extension Bitcoin, can bring to the table.

This is not a new thing, though: most great inventions were brought into the world while old people were complaining that it was all better in their day. And while the opinions of Nobel Prize awardees should count for something - who was ever stopped by that?

Here is a summary of what six of them said, with pictures:
https://cryptonews.com/exclusives/what-six-nobel-laureate-economists-have-to-say-about-crypto-1402.htm

I study a little bit of economics, imo the problem with bitcoin (and other cryptocurrency) is that it doesn't have "fundamental value"
https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0165176515000890

It can be understand if mentioned six nobel laureates think that way since bitcoin cannot be valued using traditional method, but I think crypto can be valued using network strength in the form of active full nodes and hash rates, and also with frequency of transactions. However, to get nominal value from that factors is difficult.

I'm optimistic about the future of cryptocurrency though Smiley
6240  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto Exchanges vs Instant Swaps (changelly, shapeshift) on: April 09, 2018, 04:37:57 PM
I used Changelly.com the other day for the first time and it was excellent. It has a better exchange rates than Shapeshift.io and I did not like the Shapeshift reviews

Maybe the days of exchanges are numbered now that instant exchange is available rather than buy/sell walls on exchanges

Do you think exchanges might become irrelavant in the coming years? The only advantage they seem to have is that investors can send their crypto to their addresses instead of having multiple wallets on their own desktop. With Changelly and Shapeshift growing they are causing problems for exchanges and provide greater anonymity too with no AML/KYC required

Many cryptobank projects now working on instant exchange using utility token for crypto-crypto and crypto-fiat exchange
The most anticipated one is Crypterium
I think in the near future, exchange will be used like traditional stock/forex exchange to get profit (speculation), while cryptobank apps used for daily transaction
