6221  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice.com | Creators of Dicing 🎲 | 29 Billion Bets | 112+ BTC Jackpot! on: August 07, 2019, 10:48:10 PM
Someone's selling a domain, primedice.net, watch our for phishers: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5173150.0

He also posted about making his own dice site, it'd be interesting to know if he's managed to start one: https://archive.is/pXbFI

Thank you for that information!

Make sure you enable your 2FA authentication anyways to become safer than before at Primedice.com

So in case you log at some pishing site you still have security on the main domain.

Reading his post where he says

Quote
I'm not concerned about how you plan to use it

Is direct proof that he probably bought it for phishing reasons. Looking at the WHOIS info it looks like he bought this domain shortly after Primedice.com was registered in 2013. So is there someone buying up all these domains so 5 years later if the site still exists they can use it for spoofing reasons?

Did you try and reach out to the individual to purchase the domain name directly? Maybe the cost won't be too large? Or maybe get your lawyer involved due to trademark reasons.

i decided to visit my pd account and first thing that i do is to check and claim on the faucet but i notice that it dissapeared now  . may i know some valid reasons on why they did remove it  ?  i love to claim on the faucet and grind on the site but im not doing it all time  .

im only doing it if im bored or if i have  alot of time to spend on   . i also notice that they up they amount to wagger before you can chat  .  they now require 100usd  , whch was a bit high to me .

They had to do both due to the amount of abuse that was happening. A few years back there was a few faucet abusers here and there but as the 2017 bull market came, many people saw the facuet a way how to earn a living and basically too many individuals were betting enough to make a min withdraw and they never made a single deposit. Basically lost money for Primedice and didn't make sense to keep it.

Regarding the chat, is another issue. I don't know if you frequented in the past but it was full of spammers, beggers, and many people harassing each other. The worse in my opinion was the amount of people claiming that they need BTC to buy food and the mods couldn't keep up with the banning. So instead they imposed the $100 to prevent this from happening.
6223  Economy / Gambling / Re: FreeBitco.in - Win a Lamborghini Huracan LP 580-2!! on: August 07, 2019, 08:36:04 AM
The next presidential election is going to be pretty crazy with crypto betting. I remember when Trump got elected there was so much BTC riding on the outcomes. And back then BTC didn't have the same adoption as it does today.

From what I recall, according to the polls, Hillary was way in the lead and most of the betting websites had her pegged as a winner, so if you bet Trump by then you have low odds of winning but a large payout if he actually won. And in the last few hours the tables have turned and he won and the stock market went crazy. It feels so long ago but it was only in 2016, its crazy how times flies so fast.

I don't think there will be any new candidates, it takes years to start a campaign for a US president. I think the current people will most likely be the only ones running.
6224  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: LTC halving , what to expect? on: August 07, 2019, 06:06:56 AM
Its hard to say what will happen with the price. The halving effect might take days or weeks.

I would say if we were in a sideways market then most likely LTC would dump because the halving was nothing more than a "Buy the rumor, sell the news" kind of deal. And also the fact that everybody was assuming it would rally since less daily supply and since the retail traders think that it means the opposite will most likely happen.

However the issue is that BTC is rallying hard and in a few months might hit a new ATH and if it hits a new ATH then most likely so will LTC. So if LTC rallies within the next few months its hard to tell if its from the halving or from the BTC rallying.
6225  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Does anyone else get crazy high anxiety when they transfer btc between wallets? on: August 07, 2019, 05:58:10 AM
I actually used to do this back in the day and depending on the amount I still might do it.

First I send a small amount, and wait for the transaction to arrive wherever it was sent. If it arrives successfuly then I simply resend to the exact same address as before. This way if there is some clipboard virus or if I make a mistake and copy a BCH address instead of a BTC address then the loss is small.

However lately I tend not to do this because of BTC transaction fees, I rather not waste $5 or so per transaction so I just double check my addresses multiple times. Back in the day sending transactions was almost free so you could easily send BTC back and forth and not worry.
6226  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Happy 2nd Anniversary, SEGWIT! on: August 07, 2019, 05:53:14 AM
This thread sure brings back memories and its crazy how 2 years ago feels more like a decade in Crypto years. I used to be all over Reddit, Twitter and Bitcointalk and hear all these people going back and forth whether to activate it or not. There was that UASF campaign and then that Antminer CEO who controlled so much hashrate that the SEGWIT activation was more or less in his hands. Times were crazy.

It was so crazy that its the reason why I never sold my BCH after Aug 1st, because if for some odd reason BCH became the dominant chain and basically had a flippening, then I wanted to be hedged completely so I just held both coins. Which was smart since BCH shortly after was in the 4 digits.

Those sure were the days.
6227  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Earning bitcoin is hard but i still keep fighting on: August 07, 2019, 05:49:27 AM
Your points are right on, you could also actually provide a service such as programming or web design work for Bitcoin, however I guess that is not that much different from a job.

These days its tough earning "easy bitcoins" because the price is so high. Back in the day there was many faucets which gave you large amounts of BTC, there was one which gave you 1 BTC per day per IP. If you wanted more you just had to change your IP by resetting your router and you could claim 2 BTC per day, at the time it wasn't worth the hassle since BTC was useless back then.

Mining was also easier because you could do it on your PC and didn't need expensive ASICs or GPUs. Now unless you got cheap power its not that profitable. Maybe 25 cents per day per GPU.
6228  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Sent Litecoin to Bitcoin Address, How to recover? on: August 06, 2019, 08:45:10 AM
For new people it can be very confusing which coin to buy. Litecoin and Bitcoin actually have 2 very different names at least. But there were some bitcoin services (i think on bitcoin.com) where you were given the option to buy Bitcoin Cash or Bitcoin Core. And most people selected the first one and had it sent to a Bitcoin address instead of BCH address. I am sure they did a software update and the prefix is different to avoid confusion but initially right after the fork many people had this issue.

Same with the Bitcoin ATM. Most people might get confused, pick the wrong coin and get it sent to the wrong network. Hence like others have said here, you should put in a check for this to prevent it from happening or you will get angry customers all the time.
6229  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: be ware of the airdrop forms on: August 06, 2019, 06:07:15 AM
Not all airdrops are scams, back in 2017-2018 there was many which were actually pretty succesful.  You just need to be smart about it.

For one, if this is an ERC20 airdrop, then use a unique ETH address for privacy reasons. Some ask for usernames and emails and passwords, just make sure those are all unique.

Never download any software or go to any website which forces you to download software.
6230  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Satoshi think that quantum computers will exist? on: August 06, 2019, 05:51:54 AM
This was discussed many times in the past.

He basically mined to a public key, which is slightly less secure than a Bitcoin address so its slightly easier to crack. So he didn't really worry about quantum computers back then.

Most likely if it reaches a point when Quantum computer "could" crack a public key and find the private key, then there will most likely be an upgrade to the network to prevent peoples funds from being stolen.

But from what I heard we are about 10 years away from this happening at the earliest.
6231  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: August 06, 2019, 05:01:55 AM

but a bch block is 30 times easier so if we were pointed at BCH  we would have about 9 or 10 blocks

Aren't you worried about finding a stale with BCH. They got enormous block sizes correct? So if say you find a block at the same time as someone else, and their internet connection is faster to submit the block to the network, they will get the reward and you might get stuck with an orphan?

This was one of the issues that I read about was an issue with large block sizes, because if the blocks are enormous then those with slower internet connections and the same hashrate are at a disadvantage.

However at the moment I am assuming most of their network has empty blocks, so shouldn't be an issue.
6232  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: August 05, 2019, 10:18:58 PM
I will figure a plan of action for 2020.

BCH Stratum URL:
stratum+tcp://bch.viabtc.com:3333

I may solo mine btc or bch  with a few hash
I Just pointed the r606 and 3 new pacs to viabtc bch pool

if I solo mine there it is far easier to hit a block. But not likely to do so.

Reminds me of the time when I had an old silent Antminer S3 that I pointed to ck solo pool and hoped I would of hit a block.

Basically I think the largest share was like 1,000,000,000 or so after a few months and maybe aside from a few lucky people with some Antminer S9, any older hardware wasn't able to find a block.

There is a thread with people who are hoping to find a block with a USB thumb miner doing like 20GH/s and they have been on there for a year or 2 and haven't found a block.

The last block that I actually found was back in 2015 with a KnCMiner Jupiter but it was with a pool so I didn't get the entire block reward, but it was probably the only known block found by myself.
6233  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: AML laws to regulate cryptocurrency on: August 05, 2019, 10:14:25 PM
Its better crypto being regulated than being outlawed. Its no different than alcohol or smoking. The government would rather regulate it and tax it and get some benefit out of it rather than outlawing it and people would have to get it illegally somehow like Bootlegging.

Crypto is no different. Most people don't have an issue with it being regulated since there are so many people who signup with Gemini or Coinbase and they don't have issues KYC their info.

For the future of crypto, I think regulation is a must.
6234  Economy / Speculation / Re: Analyst: Bitcoin below $ 10,000 is a gift! on: August 05, 2019, 08:03:18 AM
Well if below 10k is a gift, you need it to hit 20k to double your money.  That is pretty damn hard would you agree?  Imagine wanting to 10x it.  That would mean bitcoin needs to hit 100k.

I mean, wouldn't an altcoin give you a better chance?

That's intuitive, which is why lots of newbies chase altcoins.

In practice, here's what happens: as BTC rises against USD, altcoins stagnate and fall against BTC. They can spend months drastically underperforming, during which time altcoin holders are losing BTC hand over fist. By the time most of them have capitulated and exited back to BTC, it'll finally be time for altcoin season.

In other words, most of them will miss out. Over time, most people realize it's easier and more reliable to just hold BTC rather than try to beat the altcoin market cycle.

Yes and this is actually where most of my retail friend investors and other FOMO people fall in.

I told people to buy BTC and they said its not worth it because the max they can make is like 20% and they wanted something like 1000% or so.

They saw that ETH was $10 before the bull run and peaked at $1400 and they are looking at those types of gains. Which is why so many retail people are buying XRP now because its cheap and they expect it to hit $3 again.
6235  Economy / Gambling / Re: Primedice.com | Creators of Dicing 🎲 | 29 Billion Bets | 112+ BTC Jackpot! on: August 05, 2019, 07:59:24 AM

Gosh, from my perspective I don't know how the top high-roller was able to wager ~29 BTC, for me that's an insane about. Still it would be interesting to see if there's actually anyone who has enough BTC and that is brave enough to out-throne this guy  Shocked
It's kinda easy, just bet with 0.1 btc at highest chance on PD and increase the bet 10x when your bet lose (yea, 10x from 0.1 btc it means you risked 1 btc on the next bet)

Yes it does sound easy but its not when that rare chance happens and you end up rolling a loss. I actually tried doing this back in 2015 or so. Basically I wanted to rise to a higher rank on PD and I needed to wager more.

So instead of wagering 50/50 like I normally did I just wagered something like 98% win chance. It was fine until after the 10th bet or so which was a loss and took a huge drain in my balance.

You can get lucky and roll 98 winners in a row before you hit the 2 losers but it can be like me and happen withing 10 bets and getting a loss.
6236  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Is it true that ALT coins had a bigger rise than BTC last May? on: August 04, 2019, 05:03:08 AM
When he is asking about last May is he referring to May 2019 or May 2018?

Since he wrote this in June 2019, I am assuming he was referring to May 2018.

Either way May 2018 had a big alt run. BTC went from $6K to almost $10K but alt coins like BCH had a huge rally. Basically if I recall BCH almost topped out at $2000 from like $500 a few weeks prior.

And after that every started to turn red again, including BTC. It was basically the perfect time to short or sell because a nasty bear market begun.
6237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: ETH ready to bounce back? on: August 04, 2019, 04:52:07 AM
I got an order set to buy ETHBTC around the 0.02 area but got a stop loss shortly under. I honestly don't even think this is a good R/R trade because the ratio performs horribly whenever BTC is rallying.

I think chaos will start when the 0.02 area is broken and then we might quickly see the 0.0175 or 0.015 area. Its actually pretty crazy that ETHBTC has managed to go down this low.

I would of assumed that 0.03 BTC a few months back would of held.
6238  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: I am guessing my money is gone on: August 04, 2019, 04:41:31 AM
This is why sometimes for newbies, its better to just store the BTC in an exchange.

I am sure the OP didn't lose his BTC, it was all an misunderstanding however if you move your coins off the exchange there is so many points of failure.

Such as getting a virus on your computer, a phishing website, phishing software like Electrum had at the beginning of the year, clipboard viruses, etc.

Sure a hardware wallet is better but most won't buy one and in that case the BTC would be the safest at an exchange. So for new people, other than cold storage / hardware wallet the safest place is an exchange and just use a unique password with 2FA enabled.
6239  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Just Broke $10k on: August 03, 2019, 10:55:40 PM
The $10K doesn't have as much meaning as it did with the initial run up. It had more of a meaning when it hit it the first time and when it pulled back and people were using $10K as support.

The area to watch right now is the $11139 area because it has a triple top setup in that area. And if this area gets broken then it'll head to the $13K area since the $9100 would be confirmed as a double bottom.

Most people were expecting $8K so the fact that $9100 held was very bullish.
6240  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: August 03, 2019, 10:32:01 PM
 snip

I also had an account which had the hacked balance stolen and I was also waiting week after week for all the payments. If I recall, at first the program used to pay up more and it should of taken no longer than a year for the entire balance to be repaid in full.

However the payouts started to slow down and basically about 2 weeks ago I just withdrew the 75% that was owed. They got some issues with their CEO and I rather just take the 75% before there is some other hack or before BTC starts crashing again.

Because at this rate it would take a very long time to get the remainer 23% paid.
