6261  Economy / Lending / Re: Any one from this board tried earning BTC interest? on: September 10, 2014, 08:56:09 AM
1.5% daily is an extremely good rate for fiat

No, it is an amazingly bad rate. If somebody offers you 1.5% *daily* on anything, you have to ask yourself simple question - how many more days will this continue? Because that rate in a year turns $100 into $23,000 - there's no repeatable investment or business strategies that would guarantee these returns besides maybe making gold out of horse shit. Fact is, if such a miraculous money making source is found, nobody would care or need to multiply *your* money. So when you are asked to invest under such a huge %%, that means only one thing - somebody desperately needs to steal your money. Nothing else.

I don't think bitfinex in specific makes gold out of horse shit. You basically provide liquidity, there's even a detailed article on how this works in their website. It still involves risk though.
6262  Other / Meta / Re: Can I use Coin icons for my own forum for an Altcoin? Staff needed! on: September 10, 2014, 06:38:06 AM
They were created by Satoshi. They can be considered public domain as far as I'm concerned.

Ok, I will use them, if Satoshi has a problem I will remove them right away!

Most likely that you'll never hear a word form him, hehe.
6263  Other / Archival / Re: delete on: September 10, 2014, 05:35:08 AM
I would somewhat doubt that the hacker would actually release the name of someone who is not at all satoshi. If they are faking having satoshi's dox then they have nothing to gain by releasing any information once he has his money.

I'm prety sure that this "hacker" came to take advantage of the recent situation without having any actual information on the incident. He maybe thought that this would work as the fappening did, where an actual hacker asked people to pay a ransom in order to release the celebrity pictures. This guy should be happy with the ~1 BTC he got.

Trying to be serious in a forum full of trolls is your biggest mistake. Don't take everything here seriously.

Wait what? What the hell is happening with dicebitcoin. Is it seriously closing?

There's uncertainty all around. He's probably moving away from the forums for now after getting his reputation damaged due to the recent drama.

I wish I could participate to the campaign.. I've been following you guys since jpcdice was  hot. Such a pity the one I have expires in the end of the month.

And that's some more evidence to say that the dox is fake. Anyone with access to MSpaint would have been able to censor this better. If someone had gone through the effort of hacking Satoshi he would have surely put more work on cesnoring this rather than spending 10 seconds using the brush tool in a basic paint application.

$12,000 in usd to reveal satoshi's real name...apparently

Honestly? Did wired really have to link the pastebin? Why would they link to the fucking pastebin directly giving this pathetic scam attempt a better chance to fool people? For fucks sake.
6270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EQX] EquinoxManagement - New Reliable Currency [Successful Launch!] on: September 09, 2014, 02:20:55 AM
Friendly reminder for everyone to not get fooled by flashy images, good sounding promises and some faces being on display. Scams have always existed and they will more likely never go away. I'm not intended to bash this project, but you shouldn't really invest with what you can't afford to lose in something that technically doesn't even exist yet.

Here's me in page 7. Even though I wish this will settle to a happy ending, you all deserved it. Obviously the people behind this put bigger effort on presenting a positive image rather than getting a working wallet, which is the most basic thing when creating a cryptocurrency. be careful where you put your money at people, if you lose money, most likely you were asking for it.
6271  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: HASHNEST Discussion and Support Thread on: September 09, 2014, 01:16:27 AM
so is it a set number of GHS hash they are giving for each account or is there different amounts cause i would assume looking at your they gave you 890 unless im seeing it wrong its to small on my table and cant zoom in sorry lol

This account has 3 posts and all in this thread. I don't know how legit that can be.
6272  Other / Meta / Re: [Offering] Loans for trusted members on: September 08, 2014, 07:52:00 PM
Can you tell me what my trust score is? To me it says +6 and is green, but someone else talking to me said it was ugly red. I need a loan of .02 but I don't have collateral and don't want to look like a doofus by asking, if my trust only looks good to me.

Either way, I like to think I'm trusted, I'm on all the time, and have done plenty of business here :p

-1: -1 / +2(2)

That's what it looks like. Maybe putting your trust network back to the default one will let you see this as well.

Edit:I moved on and left.

Edit 2: Mods helped me with finding a new place to stay, thank you based mods.
6273  Other / Archival / Re: Updated Overview of Bitcointalk Signature-Ad Campaigns on: September 08, 2014, 07:20:13 PM
The fact that we rent our signature space for advertisements doesn't mean we vouch for the services advertised. Even bitcointalk has a disclaimer under their advertisements saying that.

Question to bitcoininformation:

What was the agreement you had with dicebitcoin for the escrow? I guess that it was to pay everyone that completed the one month successfully at the end date. But just in case the terms are a bit more loose, wouldn't you be able to pay everyone that wants to drop out at your own will since you are the one holding coins in escrow?
6274  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW ZenCloud ZenPool Hashlet - does it really exist? ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :-) on: September 08, 2014, 03:27:49 PM
I find this part especially amusing:

Quote
Primes come at an incredible risk to us. You are able to choose any scrypt pool we support. Meaning that there is a possibility that the pool may just skyrocket in payouts, for whatever reason, and you will get the upside of that (like we saw with nicehash)

It wouldn't be any risk at all if you actually mined on said pools, would it? What was the official reason for not doing that? ZenPool is so much better?

Quote
After careful review, we've decided pointing our hashing power to these pools is counterproductive for our goal of promoting stability in this industry. Instead, we will be sending our hashing power to our own private pools, but keeping your payouts 100% based on the pool you select. This effectively gives you access to your favorite pools, but now with nearly perfect uptime.

 Shocked

The fact that people in hashtalk believe this makes me sick. Hashtalk is bringing in the third wave of bitcoiners, the I'll fall for anything investor type.
6275  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW ZenCloud ZenPool Hashlet - does it really exist? ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :-) on: September 08, 2014, 03:00:31 PM
And private sales are no longer allowed. Trading probably coming to the system.

I don't think so. I'd say that it'll take them more than 2 months to bring this to the public. Although it was promised from the start. Or maybe they never will.
6276  Economy / Auctions / Re: [Auction] PoolWarz Account on: September 07, 2014, 10:55:35 PM
I would have bought this if I could find someone selling it months ago. Mining with the hardware I own is pointless now. Good luck finding someone to sell this though. I'm sure the creators of poolwarz have created a perfect pool judging from their previous works.
6277  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW ZenCloud ZenPool Hashlet - does it really exist? ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :-) on: September 07, 2014, 10:39:01 PM
Thanks GAW_CEO for the free 250MH Hashlet Prime for the losses I incurred with you!

What losses? How come he ended up sending you free hash? Did you contact him?
6278  Economy / Services / [Hiring] Small programming gig read the description and bid a price on: September 07, 2014, 09:47:23 PM
So I need a program able to check any given account's posts and replies and find the unique ones.

Now pay attention to what I mean when I cay unique:

All posts of a user count as unique (note, posts are not replies to posts. What I'm writing not is considered a post, everething below it, is a reply).

Replies are unique only if they're not in the same page of a post.
For example: Let's say today I made 4 replies in the thread speculation about the price of potatoes. 2 of those were in the first page. Only one can be considered unique. Other replies were in pages 3 and 4, both are considered unique.

If a reply I made was in page one of a post I made, only one counts as a unique post in the post count.

So the total unique post count should be (total posts+replies - second, fourth etc... posts I, as the same user made in the same page)

The program should be able to check for any user, and you'd need to give me instructions on how to run it myself.

Secondary: I'd prefer if you didn't mind me releasing it publicly for other users to use for free and also release the code. If you wouldn't like that for some reason, I'm ok with that.

Give me an offer and I'll pick according to best price and experience.

I don't mind paying you an amount before you deliver, just in case you don't trust me.

Edit: I has some offers and I'm currently working with someone. Thanks.
6279  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Essence of How Bitcoin Works (Non-Technical) - Video on: September 07, 2014, 04:59:42 PM
CMIIW, if a pool has 30% of the network hashrate, the pool should have a 30% chance of finding the next block (equivalent to winning the next game).

That's not entirely wrong. The more hashing power someone has, the fastest he will be able to solve the problems required to find a block. But you can't really say that coins are distributed randomly (because that's what the video says). There are some certain criteria on how the coins are distributed, it's not a random distribution.
6280  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The Essence of How Bitcoin Works (Non-Technical) - Video on: September 07, 2014, 04:30:23 PM
Another thing, the money is not distributed randomly. The more computational power one has the more bitcoin he gets, it's not random in any way.

It remains random. The more computational power you have is like having more card when you play bingo.

If a pool owns 30% of the hashing power it gets approximately 30% of the rewards... While in bingo owning 30% of the cards gives you a 30% possibility of wining. Quite a difference isn't it?
