in a world where the government has to actually ask the public for funding to start a war i'd bet there would be less wars or wars would be of a much smaller scale.

It is no coincidence that the first 'great war' - the 'war to end all wars' - WWI - happened shortly after the creation of the federal reserve.

Yes. They could never have financed it without central banks inflating currency. This is about taking them to task and making government accountable to the people again.

People need to take control of their country. For those of you that are 'Mericans: slavery was legal, women had no right to vote, raping your wife was legal, blacks were less than human as recently as 60 years ago, children had no rights and could be abused and beaten without punishing the abuser, in fact, about the only people that had rights were white male adults. It will take entirely too long for Bitcoin to even come close to becoming the national currency of 'merica. Changes need to happen a lot faster than that.

I am frankly not sure what the answer is. The electoral process has broken down and become a joke. Neither party is really a party of the people and frankly Americans are too busy watching reality tv to do much thinking any way. I am choosing to opt out of the system by divesting myself as much as I can from fiat currency and avoiding sending more money to the beast as much as I can while keeping my relative freedom

That may be all that can be done at this point. Change is always in the hands of the people but the people have to see the need. As long as US citizens are willing to sit back and do nothing then nothing will change. I see that as the reason Bitcoin adoption isn't moving faster than it is. Young well educated citizens are calling for passive revolution and not enough people are listening. Also fear plays a big part in financing the government. If we all decided to not file taxes next year do you believe they could put us all in jail? It just takes a movement to gather support for that to happen. Unfortunately, Americans are soft, afraid and we have no tangible cause that the reality tv watchers understand enough to support. We are the 99%. 99% chicken shit that is. lol

Here's how people used to end war: http://www.cbc.ca/archives/categories/war-conflict/vietnam-war/seeking-sanctuary-draft-dodgers/we-refused-to-go-the-antiwar-movement-in-canada-and-the-us.html

Try not letting the government send you to war. The problem is when people see their flag fluttering in the breeze, they start thinking about mom serving up her apple pie and tearing up because their great gran pappy fought in the last war they succumb to peer pressure and start killing. Bitcoin can't end wars - education can. Dumbass hillbillies living in the heartland are too stupid to use Bitcoin and they're too stupid to see that their government is about to kill them for no reason.

One group of people thinking they're better than another group of people has a bit to do with it too I reckon. Yep.

Yessir, liberal radicals often forget wars are fought by people not by governments. Want to stop a war? Overthrow a dictator? Topple a government? Convince the people it needs to happen.

Exactly. It is easy to go to war when it is other people's money you are spending. Rich mans war = poor mans fight.

My own father was such a patriotic idiot that he actually sent a check to support the war effort.

Here's some alternative funding for wars: http://www.war-experience.org/education/homefront/support/support.asp

Sometimes the government just begs for money because they don't have enough to wage war. It doesn't matter what your using for money if people are just going to send it to the government.

There was a time when I felt the same way. I was shamelessly pro American and thought we could do no wrong. It took a while to deprogram myself. I still love my country and the principals it was founded on, but we are now a twisted relic of that.

Ok, here's one. What if a country, any country no matter how small, actually started using Bitcoin as it's national currency?

Would the blockchain implode into a black hole from the massive amount of additional transactions?

Would that country buy massive mining farms from BFL to secure its new currency?

Would BFL make the country preorder the equipment and finally deliver it after the countries government is overthrown making the order useless?

Would the country organize a 51% attack on the blockchain to overthrow all of the worlds governments at once?

How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsiebitcoin?

Will the San Francisco Giants go all the way next year?

So, in theory, I could transfer $126,000,000 for $2 and get it in one day.

with bitcoin, you can transfert 1 000 000 of BTC in 1 hours to the bottom of the bresil ... for 0,002 BTC  Grin
it's not the theory.

it's that, bitcoin.
the network job.

If I had a hundred million dollars I don't think I would worry about them charging me the cost of a two liter bottle of soda for the transfer because they can be held accountable for the transfer and it's insured. The last one business day (8 hour) guaranteed transfer I did cleared the bank in about 1.5 hours. Same-same.
6291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 304517 -- A BIG Block! on: June 06, 2014, 07:46:29 PM
Surely a bank wouldn't move that amount of money with any costs being incurred?

I'm just pointing out its amazing that we can move vasts amounts of money without any paperwork, to anybody in the world for no costs. If that doesn't convince skeptics then nothing will.

You're right, Bitcoin is great for the little guy to move money for free low cost. Large amounts are moved between branches and banks for free all the time. Think about it a minute, are they going to charge themselves for the move?  Undecided

My bank even lets me transfer between different accounts at different banks without a fee. My bank may charge a fee for faster service but my credit union offers 3-business-day transfers for free. One day costs $2. So, in theory, I could transfer $126,000,000 for $2 and get it in one day.

Capitalism = violence. Nation-state = violence. Neither one of these can survive without systemic application of violence down a hierarchy.

An atmosphere of violence suffocates reason. Reason = peace. Abandon capitalism and the nation state, and your children can inherit a world of reason, rather than the world of violence and lies you grew up in.

I like you. You'd like this.

That video was so cool. Thanks for sharing. All we have to do is remove human nature from the equation and we can make that kind of world.

...

Block 304517 (won by BTC Guild) came in at a (gross) amount of $126,442,364.66 !!

I have not seen one that big before.

I do know that BTC Guild itself saw nowhere near that amount, but someone made/transferred a lot of money today.  I hope they don´t spend it all in one place.

$114 to move $126million, western union, banks, paypal... try beating that!

Unbelievable really, being able to move $126million for 0..

I'd be interested to see how much a bank would charge to do that, and what paperwork would need to be filled in.

Why is that hard to believe? Banks do it every day and that's what happened here. A Bitcoin bank moved money.

I didn't receive anything from github, gonna check why I didn't get an email alert.

Well, I'm back now! So please tell me everything that broke since I left (in this thread please, not in PMs). First of all I'll repair that.
I will reupload to greasyfork. I'm afraid that would break updates for Firefox users though. I'll see what I can do.

How dare you go off and enjoy your life! Don't you know you only exist to please us now?

Welcome back!

BTW: What license are you using, just in case one of us wants to continue on with your great work when you die?

Yeah, it was fun to discuss but everyone knows that lowlifes and Bitcoin go together like peanut butter and jelly. Move along.

Walmart is the retailer you want to accept Bitcoin.

Quote
Today, Walmart operates nearly 11,000 retail units under 71 banners in 27 countries. We employ 2.2 million associates around the world — 1.3 million in the U.S. alone.

We need to push Walmart to start accepting Gyft again.

That would be good too but I'd like them to just take Bitcoin directly. I wouldn't buy anything there with Bitcoin because all their products are Chinese shit but can you imagine how much our investment would appreciate overnight!
6298  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Do you really like RT news! the great bitcoin promoter! on: June 06, 2014, 06:07:37 AM
i find it so weird that russia has been pretty anti bitcoin with its laws and regulations,  yet a news outlet owned by russia promotes bitcion.  Go figure Smiley

Think about it just for a moment.

Russia has a news organization that they do not show to their citizens, only to people in foreign countries.

This news organization promotes something that could destabilize a foreign government currency if the people adopt it.

Watch RT with the knowledge that this is what Russia wants foreigners to believe. But not their own citizens.

Haha, you're right. Russia is fucking with us! lol
