6281  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: I've taken my eye off bounty hunters comments on: August 18, 2019, 02:54:33 AM
The risk is out there and no one likes it when they go unpaid for all the hard work they have done. The main problem with bounties right now is that social media is no longer profitable, due to scammers enrolling with multiple FB/Twitter accounts. The only option left is translation and signature. Limited slots are available for translation bounty, and if you take part in signature bounty, then you can do only one campaign at a time.
6282  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coindesk & Cointelegraph give Fake News on: August 18, 2019, 02:46:42 AM
Ever since I got interested in cryptocurrency for the first time in 2017, I have used many of these sites for getting daily information on crypto (including Coindesk and Coin Telegraph). Fake news is a big scourge. It not only whips up unnecessary hype, but it also makes crypto users laughing stock in front of the rest of the world. That said, I would say that Coindesk is far better than the rest of the bunch. Most of their news stories are accurate, and they don't publish fake news to increase their visitor count (unlike the Coin Telegraph, which is very infamous for dishing out fake news).

High chances for Sri lanka even if there is a half day rain and half day play time since they only needs 145 runs but they have got 10 wickets in their hand,no one would lose a game from this stage.

At this point, I would say that there is a 99.9% probability of a Sri Lankan win. In the first innings, the Kiwis were able to restrict the Lankan batsmen thanks to some quality bowling by Ajaz Patel. He looked clueless yesterday. Sri Lanka is half-way through, without any loss of wickets and today it should be a cake-walk for them and they should win before the end of the second session of play.
6284  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 on: August 18, 2019, 02:32:07 AM
If that's the case, then why does other country have their NBA players still play for the upcoming FIBA world cup? They should have also been restrained from participating too since they have obligation in the NBA?

Those who want to participate in the NBA will do that and those who want to play for their country in the world cup has the choice of doing that. Players such as Giannis Antetokounmpo of Greece have opted for the world cup, but most of the American heavyweights (including James Harden, LeBron James, Williamson, Lillard, Curry, Irving, and Kawhi Leonard) have opted for the NBA. It's just a personal choice.
6285  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Ethereum getting old? on: August 17, 2019, 01:39:19 PM
Ethereum is not getting old. It is getting a bit matured, as the developers are constantly working to remove the bugs and known issues. The platform is still used by more than 90% of the ICOs, despite doubts regarding the security. Other competing platforms such as QTUM, NEO and Cardano have gone down the drain and are becoming insignificant in the cryptocurrency market.

Another wicket down. Still the good thing is that Smith is there. Australia is still trailing by 94 runs and only 4 wickets in hand. In test cricket losing tailenders in only few runs is very possible. This test still has not died despite having only one and half day left.

Imagine Australia lost the 4 wickets in the next few overs only adding few runs. Say England find themselves having a lead of 60 runs. They will bat today and will score very quickly and if they can add 200 runs and if they ask Australia to bat again in the morning giving a target of 260 runs, then in the fifth day it's not very easy to chase or even bat for the whole day.

Let's just hope that there will be no rain anymore.

Probably no one cares when some Australian wicket goes down. As long as Smith is there, he can get Australia to a good total. Last time, he made good partnerships with the no.10 and no.11 batsmen.  Grin

BTW, have the Brits forgot the fact that today is the 4th day? Pacers are doing most of the work and the only spinner (Jack Leach) has just 7 overs to his name out of the total of 75.

Nothing else really matter right now. Is Smith going to get a century today?
6287  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin dominance hits 69.5%, alts lagging behind on: August 17, 2019, 01:25:30 PM
Seriously does anyone remember when was the last time we peaked like this? Bitcoin price is not that high neither, I mean it went up for sure but than altcoins didn't catch up to it. Normally, when bitcoin price goes up than altcoin prices go down so dominance going up is something expected but than when bitcoin price stops like it is stopping right now all other altcoins start to go back up the price what it used to be, right now its not doing that anymore.

I suppose this is a good thing for altcoins right now because its at the all time low expectancy for most of them, bottomed out and only place for them to go is up at this point. I know we have said that plenty of times in the past month but hopefully this time it turns out to be true, I have a lot of small coins and a bit of eth, I really hope they go up soon.

Well... when I entered the cryptocurrency market for the first time (first quarter of 2017), the Bitcoin dominance was around 87%. Then two things happened that decreased this share. First, there was the ICO craze that took the market share of Bitcoin to around 40% and after that in August there was the forking of Bitcoin Cash which further reduced the share of BTC.
6288  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can Ethereum survive below 0.02 BTC per coin? on: August 17, 2019, 01:23:05 PM
I think that now the dominance of bitcoin has simply increased and people transfer part of their funds to bitcoin. This is not to say that Ethereum in the future will not be able to be more expensive than 0,02 BTC. The cryptocurrency market is volatile.

After it crashed below the support level of BTC0.02 per coin, the next important support for Ethereum was at BTC0.018. For a while it looked like the prices were stabilizing around that level. But now it has resumed the downward journey and the last time I checked this level was also breached. Now the exchange rate is going at BTC0.01788 per coin.
6289  Economy / Speculation / Re: No Friday Feeling For Bitcoin As It Falls Back to Four Figures on: August 17, 2019, 01:20:17 PM
The prices are back to $10,300 per coin. The crash was caused by a cooling of the ongoing trade war between China and the United States. Also there was news that a state back cryptocurrency from the People's Bank of China (PBOC) will be listed as soon as next month. I don't know whether this is going to be good or bad for the Bitcoin users, but we can expect a lot of volatility in the market.
6290  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Hey Tomorrow ask your boss if you can be paid in bitcoin. on: August 17, 2019, 01:03:33 PM
Retail stores are not going to accept cryptocurrencies anytime soon, because they need to change the billing software and it will add more complications while auditing and tax filing. So getting the salary in Bitcoin is not preferable for me now. If I get my salary in BTC, then I may need to convert it to fiat to take care of my utility bills and daily expenses.
6291  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi to "Reveal Idenity" on August 18th on: August 17, 2019, 12:53:31 PM
This seems to be another piece of fake news. None of the mainstream Bitcoin news channels (including Coindesk) has covered this story and I don't think that Satoshi will suddenly become active after a long hibernation of more than 9 years. I am sure that the sites mentioned will get millions of hits tomorrow and a good amount of advertising revenue.
6292  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How difficult is it to change total bitcoin's 21 million suppply? on: August 17, 2019, 12:45:05 PM
Increasing the supply is never going to happen, as it will divide the community and a section of the users will shift to BCH and BSV if any such measure is implemented. If the circulating supply is not enough, then the only viable solution is to split the existing and coins to be mined in the future, rather than creating new coins. If the miners just create new coins, then there will be no difference between BTC and fiat currency.

Looks like Steve Smith is going to make another century today. At the end of the first session of today's play he is unbeaten on 53, with Tim Paine at 21 not out for company. But now this match is important only for statistical purposes. One and half days of play remain and there is virtually zero chance of getting a result. But still, it will be good if Smith makes another century.

Even if Smith scores a century, they need 103 more runs to chase plus need runs to put on board for England to chase. I don't think he would even be interested in this match as the result is pretty clear. It will just be an achievement for him instead of the team. England bowlers are looking bored now to take wickets and if they want to play again for their second innings, they should take Paine's wicket soon.

71 overs remain for today and there is a good chance that England will start their second innings today itself. Also, no rain is predicted for today and tomorrow. So in total, we have 161 overs. The only chance of a result here is if England collapses during the second innings. If ENG could make only around 100 runs in 40 overs, then the Australians may be able to chase that tomorrow.
6294  Economy / Economics / Re: WHY 21 MILLION BITCOIN CANNOT SERVE THE WHOLE WORLD on: August 17, 2019, 12:33:47 PM
After 20 or 30 years, if the community feels that the circulating supply (21 million coins or 2.1 quadrillion Satoshis) is not large enough, then the community can always split the existing Satoshis to smaller ones by a hard fork. But honestly I don't think that the purpose will arise anytime soon. At least not until BTC overtakes gold in market capitalization.

6296  Economy / Economics / Re: Hong Kong Activist Leader Calls For A Run On Chinese Banks Tomorrow (Friday) on: August 17, 2019, 11:50:57 AM
Hong Kong activists should not try to bite off more than they can chew. The economy of Hong Kong may collapse without China, while the latter may not face any long-term consequences even if the economic ties with HK are damaged. But it is still unclear about the popular sentiment in HK. I would not trust foreign agencies such as BBC and CNN too much to measure the mood of the people there.
6297  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lomachenko-Campbell Unification Fight on: August 17, 2019, 11:45:03 AM
Anyone remember the Vasyl Lomachenko v Anthony Crolla fight (April 2019)? Back then Crolla had odds that were even worse then Campbell. For Loma it was 1/66 and for Crolla the odds were 25/1. It was a one-sided fight and Lomachenko won by KO (4th round). Now for Loma vs Campbell, the odds are 1/14 for Loma and 10/1 for Campbell.
6298  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Cricket match prediction discussions on: August 17, 2019, 11:38:49 AM
This is just an excuse. Who is stopping the rest of the teams from playing good cricket ? I know that Big 3 (England, Australia, India) has a lot of budget for the cricket and is favored by ICC, but then the others teams can come up with good players and proof they are not less than other players.
A recent example of NewZealand to reach World cup final and give England a tough time is a perfect example that any team can come up , if they are good.

It is not going to be easy. First of all teams such as Sri Lanka and Bangladesh doesn't even have a proper domestic structure. In Sri Lanka, the national players are directly selected from the clubs in Colombo and provincial cricket is not that strong. The same with Bangladesh. Dhaka clubs still hold the status of domestic cricket.
6299  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: August 17, 2019, 11:32:58 AM
Sri Lanka are around half way through, and they still have 10 wickets in hand. Dimuth Karunaratne and Lahiru Thirimanne have built a strong partnership and the Kiwi spin bowling attack looks quite teethless as of now (Somerville, Patel, Santner). I think they should give more spells to Boult and Southee. Spin attack has failed till now.
6300  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin today on: August 15, 2019, 02:58:51 PM
Altcoins today are struggling , yes no doubt about that but if much attentions are giving to some altcoins with lots of potentials, i think it will make altcoins standout in the market. although some altcoins lacks vision and there are several coins i believe will defintely change the market positively.

Yes. Don't know what the reason for such fall. But I still believe crypto and all will go up again. 2020 is approaching. So new ATH should come.

The next block reward halving for Bitcoin is approaching and that is probably why you are so optimistic about 2020. But that event may have an impact just on the Bitcoin prices and not for altcoins. Altcoins will continue to go down, and I won't be surprised if the Bitcoin dominance increases to 75% by the end of 2019 and 90% by the end of 2020.
