6301  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ^^^ You just haven't gone far enough. on: June 18, 2021, 11:31:24 AM

HCQ is in standard use in Africa for Malaria, and they barely had any Covid deaths. And the biggest medical lie of all is that the Covid vaccine has any effect on protecting people from what they call Covid, and doing it safely.
African country's environment do not favour covid-19.
Its proven that covid 19 virus can sustain any environment so its just a blatant lie but why the cases are less in Africa and other countries is just because they didn't took enough test among the people so cases reported is very less in number and we all knows that the mortality rate of covid is less than 1% s people even died who have corona may not be reported into this category due to their chronic diseases.
I think we have to expatiate further, I wouldn't say you are wrong because you are also right. Just let us go through this quotes or read directly from the BBC news, you will see how I am right, but only when also other preventive measures are taken. Read most especially the teal coloured parts of the quotes.

Coronavirus in Africa: Five reasons why Covid-19 has been less deadly than elsewhere

Many African countries have been praised for waging an effective campaign to combat the spread of coronavirus despite their reputation for having fragile state heath systems. But what are some of the reasons for Africa's relatively low death rate?

1: Quick action
The first case on the continent was confirmed in Egypt on 14 February. There were fears that the new virus could quickly overwhelm largely fragile health systems on the continent. So, right from the beginning, most African governments took drastic measures to try and slow the spread of the virus. Public health measures - including avoiding handshakes, frequent hand-washing, social distancing and wearing of face masks - were swiftly introduced.

2: Public support
In a survey conducted in 18 countries in August by PERC, public support for safety measures was high - 85% of respondents said they wore masks in the previous week. "With strict public health and social measures implemented, African Union member states were able to contain the virus between March and May," the report said. It added that "minor loosening [of restrictions] in June and July coincided with an increase in the reported cases across the continent".

Since then, there has been a notable drop in the number of confirmed cases and deaths in about half of the continent, possibly linked to the end of the southern hemisphere winter

3: Young population - and few old-age homes
The age of the population in most African countries is also likely to have played a role in containing the spread of Covid-19. Globally, most of those who have died have been aged over 80, whileAfrica is home to the world's youngest population with a median age of 19 years, according to UN data. "The pandemic has largely been in younger age groups... about 91% of Covid-19 infection in sub-Saharan Africa are among people below 60 years and over 80% are asymptomatic," said the World Health Organization (WHO).

Quote
4: Favourable climate
A study conducted by researchers in the University of Maryland in the US found a correlation between temperature, humidity and latitude, and the spread of Covid-19.

"We looked at the early spread [of the virus] in 50 cities around the world. The virus had an easier time spreading in lower temperatures and humidity," said Mohammad Sajadi, the lead researcher. "Not that it doesn't spread in other conditions - it just spreads better when temperature and humidity drop." African countries away from the tropics have been worse off.

The spread of the virus accelerated in South Africa as the southern hemisphere went into winter. But as it became warmer, the number of cases dropped significantly, impacting the continental outlook, as South Africa accounts for almost half the total number of cases and deaths on the continent.

5: Good community health systems
The Covid-19 pandemic came at a time when the Democratic Republic of Congo was dealing with its biggest outbreak of Ebola yet. Neighbouring states were on high alert, and the health screening of travellers for Ebola was extended to include Covid-19.

Several West African states - which battled the world's worst ever outbreak of Ebola from 2013-16 - had also mastered the public health measures that have been used to prevent Covid-19, including isolating the infected, tracing their contacts and then getting them quarantined while they get tested.

Let us know about the app here, product or service you want people to review, it has to be known if it is legit or not, if it can lead to scam or not. And in my opinion, I think this is wrong, let people that use your product and service to do the review, not buying review.

This bitcoin transactions go cause issue with retailers and customers, imagine buying food of $10 at McDonald and your bitcoin transfer gas is $5 to make it faster because anything lesser fit make transaction last for hours meanwhile you don chop food... I hope they are working on fast mining process for quick confirmation of payments
Waiting I think about this is that they will be planning to help their citizens understand lightning network, also I believe say if their citizens understand what Bitcoin is, some will be making use of other cryptocurrencies which can make their transaction fast with low fee. About the lightning network, it is possible for a transaction fee of $0.00005 after a channel is opened already, with a transaction speed of less than 5 seconds or lesser. I see this as a means El Salvador will adopt the use of lightning network along.

I'm convinced
Make we try encourage others so we fit have it asap. I dey certain say e go help us. Me go dey active for the two threads, e go make sense if others also just as that.
6304  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is really the value of Bitcoin? on: June 18, 2021, 06:57:04 AM
Even if some places accept Bitcoin, the price is still quoted in dollars?
It depends on what you prefer, there are some local exchanges that Bitcoin is paired with local fiat. El Salvador has just recently accepted Bitcoin as a legal tender, Bitcoin will be paired with the El Salvadorian fiat currency. But most people like it paired with US dollar, it is just preference, while also dollar is the most recognized currency which makes it common and default.

Bitcoin's value per say is in US dollars, a fiat currency subject to inflation.
1 Bitcoin is 1 Bitcoin, but people are mostly using fiat, and Bitcoin price is paired with fiat to make people know its worth to fiat.

If we remove the value based on the dollar, then is the price of Bitcoin just based on supply and demand?
Yes. Even the increasing demand has been the main reason Bitcoin is valuating and increasing in price and marketcap, while almost all Bitcoin are mined and the supply into circulation is reducing, the reducing supply into circulation is also helping in its valuation because if more supply is introduced into circulation, it will affect its price by making it not to valuate the extent it supposed to be. Also fiat inflation and devaluation is also important as it is also part of the factors that valuate the price of bitcoin if compared to fiat.

I also hear people like Cathie Woods and analysts at JP Morgan say Bitcoin will reach $500k or $140k respectively. I understand for stocks you can look at financial statements and make valuation models to calculate target prices, but for Bitcoin, is the value based on the scalability of network?
It can also be calculated. Also nothing scalability has to do with the calculation, scalability deals with transaction speed.
6305  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Seed phrase security question on: June 18, 2021, 06:25:38 AM
Hi this is a random question but is it possible for my seed phrase on hardware wallet to be compromised by an app using my iPhone microphone ?
There is nothing malware can not do, so be careful with your seed phrase.

I was singing my seed phrase to memorize it and realized my phone was right next to me
There has been some numbers and words I memorized for months and yet I later forgot after I thought I have memorized it off hand. I would even think I can not forget it, it can be some just one or two numbers that I will forget. Do not depend on your brain for long term memory, it might not work. Backup your seed phrase offline is better, having like three copies safely backup somewhere not accessible to attackers and resistant to damages.
6306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anonymity and Privacy while using Bitcoin. Which one is the right word to use? on: June 17, 2021, 10:11:44 PM
Here's what I think. Since the Bitcoin blockchain is a public ledger, transactions are not private, anyone can observe any transaction and any address using blockchain explorers. So even if the owners of the sending and receiving addresses are not known, the transaction is still not private. People can still be able to see the amount of Bitcoin spent and the time it was spent.
If the transaction is not linked to your identity, it is still because you maintain privacy because no one will disturb you of anything. No thief will come to your house for your coin. If you have ways to increase your privacy online and no one will know about you, which means no one will disturb you. Only what they can see on ledger are transactions, not you, which means privacy.

So long as the addresses involved are not connected to any centralized service. There is no way the public can know about the identity of the sender and receiver of a bitcoin transaction. Therefore, i think bitcoin transactions are sometimes anonymous and not private
No, it is private pseudonymous, not private not anonymous. Example of anonymous transactions are that of monero in which no record of public ledger, so nothing known about the transaction.

Do not get it confused. The question people always ask is 'is Bitcoin transaction anonymous? Not is 'the person making use of Bitcoin anonymous'? Bitcoin transactions are not anonymous but the person making use of it in a way the Bitcoin is not linked to him is anonymous, while the person needs to maintain privacy in order to remain anonymous, but Bitcoin transaction itself is not anonymous.
6307  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger fake device Warning! on: June 17, 2021, 09:38:51 PM
Scammers are playing on card of device replacement, but I am worried that fake devices are sent from France, like we can see on first fake package, and that could mean that someone who works in Ledger is still leaking customer information.
This is one of the reasons it is not good to provide kyc on many of the sites. I have a sister, she has antivirus on her phone, and she is security conscious, one day was a debit alert of huge amount of money from her bank account. Although, the bank has given her back the money, but who was able to get through her account and stole such huge amount without any message of OTP from the bank aside debit alert, it is clear that the attacker is working in the bank.

Also are many cases of sim swap which occur without no two reasons at times but just because there are insiders working with service provider as employee but yet also working for attackers to make many sim swap to be successful.

I do not know if this also applies to Ledger Nano, but I am pretty sure that giving out personal data which is stored on a database is extremely dangerous, it will be very easy for the data to be stolen by some workers working in the company which is used against the users.
6308  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria Local Board {Official language, Pidgin} on: June 17, 2021, 09:01:10 PM
We need Nigerian English thread before it is too late

I think I have tried my best to convince many Nigerians on this forum that are active here with obvious reasons why we need an English local thread, but yet my opinion was not considered. I am still insisting just because I love Nigerians and I want us a local board which I believe you people do not know the criteria needed for the progress we need on this forum. The reasons I had shared with some of us which I do not want it to be public here on this forum, but yet I still have other valid reasons I am proposing English thread.

We know how it is very difficult for members to become a merit source recently, and we Nigerians have only one for now, even you can see people that are worth it but not given merit source. Only local board is what we can use to have another merit source easily and successfully. We need 10 posts to apply for merit source, and if you need a merit source in a local board or thread, the thread must be active in a way the person that apply for merit source will need some of the posts in the local thread or board. If admin can not read Pidgin, then what is the evidence we will be given another merit source?

I do not know the reason we can not have an English thread, it will be active, also Pidgin thread will be active, but I do not know the genuine reason you people want only Pidgin board when Indian thread is in English without no moderator. I will like you to realize early how only Pidgin thread will not help you people. Pidgin no dey translators, it should be an alternative to English thread.
6309  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria Local Board {Official language, Pidgin} on: June 17, 2021, 08:21:38 PM
El Salvador accepting Bitcoin as legal tender is recommendable but Nigerian youths has done more
With what I have noticed, it is true that Nigerians has done more, Nigeria is the second country with the highest crypto trading volume, so it is worth more that Nigerians were able to go for p2p and maintain the trading volume. Thanks more to crypto exchanges like Binance and Paxful that are more widely used by Nigerians which provide high liquidity rate for fiat to crypto trading which is though directly by individuals. And yet some Nigerians will still prefer to make use of decentralized exchanges like bsiq which has the highest trading volume among all decentralized exchanges. Nigerians that are concerned about privacy will make use of decen exchanges but the trading volume is not as high as that of centralized exchanges which is an issue, while it will also require more fee to be paid, withore time required to complete a trade.

About El Salvador accepting bitcoin, I read some few information about it today:

Two surprising facts emerged on the global stage at the start of June: First, 70% of El Salvador’s population do not have bank accounts, and second, remittances — i.e., money sent home from workers abroad — are fueling El Salvador’s economy, accounting for an astonishing 23% of the gross domestic product.
With this, I think this should be a welcomed development in their country. And one more thing:

Legal tender is a somewhat archaic term and often misunderstood, and it can mean different things in different parts of the world. In the United States and the United Kingdom, for instance, retailers are not required by law to accept legal tender — i.e., the dollar and pound sterling, respectively — but El Salvador’s retailers must accept BTC for payment under the new law. As president Bukele explained, as reported by Reuters:

“If you go to a McDonald’s or whatever, they cannot say we’re not going to take your bitcoin, they have to take it by law because it’s a legal tender.”
This country, El Salvador really mean to fully support Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
6310  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Safepal,Ledger,Trezor keep a backup of my 24 words and transfer to their server? on: June 17, 2021, 07:13:58 PM
What software should I use to create an offline wallet? Looking forward to your advice. Thank you!
What dkbit98 was implying is that using open source wallet is better because the source code is available to the public. A good and reputed wallet of that category which can be recommended is Trezor. But, it is good to keep Trezor in a place it can not be stolen, or better use passphrase along with seed phrase so physical attacks can not reveal the keys generated by the Trezor wallet.

If you want to know how to generate a cold wallet using an online wallet, you can use Electrum which is open source but only support Bitcoin. You will need two devices for it, one as watch-only, and the other as the cold wallet which is used for signing transactions. You can go through below guilds:

On computer

On mobile

You have come a long way but why be bored after a rank up? I'm sure there will be more arguments and debates that will interest you. Bitcoin continues to develop and so will be the discussions. Keep it up.
No, this forum is not boring at all in its entirety, I only just meant the ranking up thing which is fun.
6312  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ^^^ You just haven't gone far enough. on: June 17, 2021, 06:48:37 PM
I think the reason why philipma1957 deleted part of your replies in his self-moderated thread is because of this:

First, there is no Covid... at least that anybody can find - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5294239.msg57248441#msg57248441. So, the 2 million dead is a lie.

Covid-19 is real and has killed many people.

Basically, Covid is a vitamin D deficiency, like scurvy is a vitamin C deficiency, and beriberi is a vitamin B1 deficiency.
Is scurvy or beriberi a communicable disease? No. But, covid-19 is a communicable disease. If someone lack 1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol (vitamin D), the deficiency of vitamin D that is common in children is rickets while osteomalacia in adults. Osteomalacia is not even a common disease because adults body can synthesize the vitamin D needed for long time period. I do not know how vitamin D deficiency should cause communicable disease. Maybe you meant, lack of vitamin D can weaken the immune system and make it susceptible to such disease, but I do not know about that, and that does not mean the body's deficiency in Vitamin D is the cause, it is not.

HCQ is in standard use in Africa for Malaria, and they barely had any Covid deaths. And the biggest medical lie of all is that the Covid vaccine has any effect on protecting people from what they call Covid, and doing it safely.
African country's environment do not favour covid-19.

I am thinking to wait until I achieve legendary before posting this, but that is another 1 year plus from now, so I decide to post this now as it has been what I experienced on this forum. When I joined, many newbies were saying this forum is merit centralized, it was the other way around for me but I tried my best to know the norms on this forum (asking and contributing quality information, most especially about Bitcoin, but not limited to only bitcoin). I finally had to know that this forum is so helpful, helping to know how to make use of Bitcoin and even many other cryptocurrencies safely and securely, and in addition to knowing about Bitcoin, I have also participated in some signature campaigns.

Since I joined, there has been many helpful members which really helped me knowing more about bitcoin and ways to privacy and safety. I am using this privilege to appreciate many members of this forum. Cryptopreneurbrainboss and Upgrade for being an encouragement for me that I can also learn about bitcoin like my brothers. DdmrDdmr, for support during the process of me ranking up, I noticed he always read links posted in posts, reading it carefully, making quality posts about it and sometimes including the original link of the link included in OP posts. o-e-l-e-o, for guidance, I read some of his posts that helped me to know child-pay-for-parent, orphaned blocks and replace-by-fee, helped correcting me several times, but I really gained from his corrections unlike some other people that just want to criticize some posts without no good reason. pooya87, for letting me to understand keys and addresses and many more, but he may not know this because he did not know I am following many of his posts, I know about transaction input and output from one of his posts that helped me in a topic, and also about keys and addresses, his post helped me understand it while reading. LoyceV, for letting me to understand how public keys are used in multisig transactions, I was thinking before only signature (private key) counts towards transaction fee charges, I further understood how it is the keys that are aggregated in the upcoming Taproot which reduced the transaction fee. mocacinno, for how nodes can set different days for transactions, while it is 14 days in bitcoin by default while some transactions dropped almost by most full nodes can still get confirmed as it is possible some nodes still have it. The Pharmacist, using many of his posts to realize the need for me to also post the way I think it should be, that is why now I am only recommending Trezor as the best hardware wallet because it is completely open source and many more now that I post the way I think it should be, you people may not understand this, but it actually really helped me. Neuroticfish and hosseinimr93 in transactions. nc50lc, for Electrum wallet used as a cold wallet and signing with watch-only for making transactions. I also appreciate few other members, Heisenberg_Hunter, JayJuanGee, Royse777, vapourminer, ETFbitcoin, hugeblack and some other members for obvious reasons you can see in my merit history. DarkStar_, when I needed loan.

To be sincere, I enjoyed the days I was ranking up, only to become legendary remains, maybe it is going to be boring now, but that does not limit me to sharing useful information and yet gaining from other members. Newbies, do not believe in the saying 'merit system is centralized' on this forum, I knew no one when I joined this forum, your constructive and quality contributions and questions you are asking will help you in ranking up. I did not know pooya87 when he sent me the first merit I received on this forum, neither did I know many people sending me merit, they saw my posts are worth it, and they gave me. Good luck to upcoming members.

6314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: EverRise - ? on: June 17, 2021, 03:30:52 PM
Sounds like a shitcoin, so probably a scam, but it's impossible to tell since you're too lazy to provide even a link, let alone any kind of useful information about it. I hope the twitbook generation doesn't know how to breed otherwise we're doomed.
I checked coinmarketcap and did not see any coin called EverRise which already indicates the coin is not significant. I checked Coingecko but I saw the coin, the price is $0.00 (it will be very low amount even if compared to one satoshi) while it has no trading liquidity in the last three hours. Maybe it is a new coin, but I have not heard of it before. You are right that it can be a scam coin that might even later be subjected to pump and dump, new coins can be so risky especially in this certain time like this when market is not bullish.

The coin is being traded inactively on PancakeSwap with the last trade more than 20 hours ago.
6315  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger fake device Warning! on: June 17, 2021, 09:52:42 AM
What can be most dangerous is to have a clonned hardware wallet, or the one that has been tamparred with. The one above falls under this category. Entering seed phrase on such fake hardware wallet will surely lead to the attackers to be able to access the seed phrase, even possibly along with the passphrase if included. The question is, how can someone differentiate the origin from the fake? There should be a way. Although, I prefer Trezor which is completely open source, but this data breach can happen to any company that are collecting buyer's data on their database, this should make us careful of the information we are given out.

If Electrum can support more than Bitcoin, it would have been the best approach than given data to the another party, well also a reputed reseller can help, but they can also have a compromised hardware wallet to sell, who knows. Using electrum as a cold storage and having another one as watch-only will not require for any kyc or user's information collection on any database, this has been effective for Bitcoin holding, but users that like to hold other cryptocurrencies  are the ones going for hardware wallet.
6316  Other / Meta / Re: Is The Purpose of The Merit System Defeated? on: June 17, 2021, 08:27:14 AM
Try to be an established member (senior, hero or legendary) before making this kind of post, you will be differently oriented at that time.
I don't think it's a good idea though, it kind of sounds like it invalidates the opinion of the other users below Senior Member like myself. But you are right that they should be familiar with the in and outs of this forum before saying anything.
Full members are established members too already, that does not mean they do not have their own opinion to suggest on this forum, the opinion can even be welcomed, also do not get me wrong, even newbies and any other ranks can suggest their own opinion, if what is suggested is genuine and welcomed, I will not make such comment, but it is not welcomed as established members will see it, and this is common to newbies and junior members and normal member rank to make certain suggestions that won't be welcomed here. So, telling them in such thread to be a somewhat an established member will help them to know more and in which they will have different opinion at the time.

True that unconfirmed transactions are highly risky in crypto trading. Recently I read an article about a dust attack through bitcoin funding. It’s actually a great post that helps to get an idea on how to avoid such unconfirmed transactions.
This discussion thread is totally different from dust attack discussion. This thread is about replace-by-fee and child-pay-for-parent transactions which can be used to unstuck unconfirmed transactions, also addressing the issue of enabling replace-by-fee while making transaction to be able to pump the fee during any stuck transactions. Dust attack transactions can be confirmed, and which is very important for the receiver to use coin control to freeze the dust coins, or using a mixer or CoinJoin wallet like Wasabi to avoid the negative effect of such dust transaction so that the attacker will not be able to trace the next transactions to you after been mixed or coinjoined.
