6301  Other / Meta / Re: Merit Points-- At what levels are the points allotted? on: August 09, 2018, 05:22:51 PM
BTW,I think merit points are not so good for your own reputation, but helps the forum when you merit another user.

What??? Jejeje... I think I was unable to understand any single word. So, merits are not good for the BitcoinTalk reputation and, at the same time, this system is helping the people?
Can you just explain that further?
Because from my perspective, what if counterproductive to the BT forum reputation is the people spamming all over and all those scammy ICOs, but maybe I`m wrong and merits (or merrits) are the worst thing to reputation ever. Roll Eyes
6302  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Crypto and Gaming wallet on: August 08, 2018, 07:56:34 PM
No, it’s a completely different idea, not like that one. I’ve sent you the landing page in private messages, if you are interested. I think about creating a marketplace as Steam, where game developers can get a percentage of the turnover of in-game items, and players can easily withdraw accumulated game assets in crypto or fiat assets with minimal commissions.

You don`t pm the people with very suspicious links, you just explain what you mean in the thread. Reported.
6303  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Can blockchain change the way we vote? on: August 08, 2018, 04:00:02 PM
Well, first of all I'm very curious if there's already a solution on improving the voting system so it won't be easily cheated.  Undecided

It has been made in Sierra Leona as a kind of experiment. It was run by a private company called Agora, and the purpose was to determinate if the use of the Blockchain could secure the electoral process.
Read more in here: https://techcrunch.com/2018/03/14/sierra-leone-just-ran-the-first-blockchain-based-election/
Now, from my perspective, actually, the Blockchain technology could even change the way we vote into a more secure system, but some problems need to be solved:
- Mining. Who are going to be the miners? Volunteers? Because if the mining power resides in just an enterprise (Like the Agora case), then it shouldn`t be believed as a fair system.
- How to purchase your vote. Of course, voting can be managed as a Blockchain transaction, but how can anyone be sure that the votes are in fact legit?

Anyway, I do see a future in which elections are going to be based on the Blockchain tech. This is a matter of time that this two tiny problems will be solved. I don`t know, maybe smart contracts have something to say, maybe a new system of electronic voting. But it is coming, I think.
6304  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Crypto and Gaming wallet on: August 08, 2018, 03:49:47 PM
Do you mean something like this one? https://flux.fund/en

I`ve barely known the site, but it seems similar: a gaming place with an ICO involved, so you can earn some coins by gaming.
Also, are you thinking about developing your very own game? Or to create a website similar to steam but with its own coin?
6305  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: [Discussion]How to decentralize the price of the bitcoin? Self-moderated. on: August 07, 2018, 07:39:08 PM

This is innovative technology and is should not relay only on the "old traditions" of price forming, we need a new revolutionary way to balance it, this is the only way to be world-wide accepted.
The whole idea of bitcoin is to be decentralize, but you have enough amount of bitcoins the price can easily be controlled.
We have seen already many such cases, and there are more to come.
It is. But, sadly, I`ve come to think that also old ways of living are infecting bitcoin by now. I mean: regarding mining, you need a really powerful computer to be able to resolve a hash and take a piece of the cake. To have one of these computers implies a lot of money, so: can bitcoin become exclusive for those with money, with real one?
Regarding the new way to balance it, I`ve been concerned about the use of the network. Speaking about Bitcoin, more and more exchanges seems to be implementing the KYC nightmare. Do you think that by centralizing the use of bitcoin it will continue being anonymous? If the use, if the necessary means to obtain some of the common people, for instance, to buy some bitcoins is under the same laws of a banking system, then what is going o happen with the initial idea.

That`s why I think you're right: we need a new way. Bitcoin is a new kind of "money", a completely revolutionary economic system so we need different and new approaches to avoid it to become another centralized-asset, and, only by doing so, we will be able to have a truly decentralized economic system.

P.S. This is self-moderated thread, I will remove any comments that I suspect to be just a sig.spam. If you not agree with this condition, better don't post here.

Maybe the shitposters will remain far from this one, due to the self-moderation stuff. Or not. Let wait and see.

Good thread, hope it leads towards an interesting discussion.
6306  Other / Meta / Re: how to delete my account here? on: August 07, 2018, 03:36:50 PM
and erase all posts... wipe clean... gone?

Well, man, finally you come out to your senses. Run!!! I`ve heard that many Hillary`s agents are here in the forum trying to find out your identity in order to send you to a remote island full of horny reptilians!!!
Probably high ranked people in here colludes with ms Clinton, and your identity is already being compromised. So if you don`t want to be raped by a horde of mentally-insane-sex-addicts reptilians, you should remove manually all your incredible well-informed posts, change your password, trough the key and run.

6307  Other / Meta / Re: At what point should we report a megathread for closure? on: August 07, 2018, 02:48:33 PM

OP, I'd say just report threads and let the mods decide whether a thread should die.  I'd say most of the time you'd be correct, but I don't think mods like locking threads, and I've heard the argument that the shitposters will just open up another thread with the same topic.  That's absolutely true.  They shouldn't be allowed to, but they will.

That`s precisely the big issue here. What is better? To have a lot of megathreads full of shitty answers? Or to have a few with thousands of pages and pages, so the shitposters and activity hunters can appease their cravings by posting whatever nonsense they feel they need to post?

I think the second one is the best answer, and, also, those shitty enormous crappy-threads can be useful for reporting spammers purposes...
6308  Other / Meta / Re: sMerit Senders & Receivers – Weight of top 100 and 200 weekly contributors on: August 07, 2018, 01:12:55 PM

I’ve just looked over my local board after being away for a few days, and there’s nothing new recently worth meriting. Good posters there are rather scarce, and concentration of merit is really natural due to this factor (although it is also a concern, and often people pull the handbrake there for the same reason).

I don`t know what`s before in this case: the chicken or the egg. I`ve seen that the Spanish board is slowly being full of nonsense posters polluting some good discussions without even giving a thought to the opening thread; or by threads that are just a link to another source (these ones I rarely read, I find kind of annoying picking some mysterious link in order to understand an OP`s contribution).
In general, the Spanish mean has, as much, 10 good posters, and some of them are moving to the English one, due to the lack of quality in the local, I included.
But this is happening because it is easier to get merits on the English one? Or because of the lack of interesting posts? Are we losing our very best posters on the Spanish just because there is nothing for them in there anymore? And, do you think merits are related? Meaning: on the Spanish local the merited ones are always the same (because there are few good ones) but it can be uncomfortable for them, given all the Inquisitorial processes we have had. I don`t know, but maybe the locals are just disappearing into a centralization force because, given the lack of merits awarders, they prefer to receive merits from others, or because they prefer to contribute in some substantial discussions instead of the ones having a place now in the Spanish.
6309  Other / Meta / Re: sMerit Senders & Receivers – Weight of top 100 and 200 weekly contributors on: August 07, 2018, 12:55:07 PM

I think there is another problem. Some users who have smerit doesn't care about others. This is clearly evident in my local section. Most of the time the mods are the one who gives merits to members, and after that, it stopped. They save their smerit, probably to start their own merits giveaway thread. Or, there is no more good post to be awarded from their POV.

I haven't seen recently a merit source application for the Indonesian board, hope it will be recognized as necessary.
Yep, also agree with you. Even tough mi local (Spanish) is not too bad about merit, I still think that most all the merited people have 1 or 2 merits as much per post, even if it is amazing. That`s a huge problem related to centralization, for this is going to be difficult for them to rank-up beyond member just because they can`t speak English.

On the other hand, I see every single day people like Jet Cash trying to work harder in their merit source task, but it doesn´t seem to go anywhere: most of the users are not deserves, for they are spamming the forum. There are also initiatives, like the "DMerit", proposed by JC, in which the creation of a "merit team" is proposed, meaning that we can implement a new system in where the merit sources can merit to some other legendaries or people they trust with a different kind of merit, so a team can be created and the merits can go to the locals.

Whatever, this is a problem in crescendo. From my perspective, maybe this is time for the people to change a little their mindset. I mean: those having smerits shouldn`t keep them as a "precious" treasure, and, in general, perhaps this is time to low down a little our standards: if a user has a pretty decent post history and if it is obvious that the user is trying hard, well, why don`t give this guy/girl more than one merit.

Anyway, it is happening. Suchmoon, for instance, has increased the number of merits he`s giving per post, as well as other people, taking a look at the post history and giving merits by the "general behaviour" of a user, instead of giving a single merit by post. I think this is a great mindset we all can have in mind when awarding someone: to check the history and to give merits based on that.

Now, the situation is pretty dramatic also. If we take a look at the beginner's board, for instance, it has been polluted with a lot of bounty threads, meantime the users are complaining about merits. Bounties or infinite guidelines are not very merited by now, for I think we all are quite tired of that. That`s why I come to conclude that the JC idea, the Merit Team is one of the best in the forum. I think there are enough merit sources by now, but badly distributed, maybe by the creation of a team, it could be fixed.

6310  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why does this world need decentralization so much on: August 06, 2018, 05:23:02 PM

Today the society is again trying to change the rules of the game of the financial world by introducing cryptocurrencies and it seems that this time state bodies around the world are excited about such decentralization.

Then the story repeats itself again with the Internet. Some people shout that cryptocurrencies «bring real freedom from a corrupt system», while the others blame digital assets for money laundering and terrorism financing.

The use of decentralization does not stop only with finance. The society has not yet realized, but decentralization is fully capable of showing the true democracy that everyone has been talking about for a long time. For example, the use of blockchain in voting, in tracking the supply of goods, for storing information and much, much more.
Those concepts are, from my perspective, really assertive. I like to remember when the Internet was introduced in our society: at first, many people used to think about that as a dark hole where hackers and untrust people used to engage, in a really abstract system, in where no law was to be found. Now, the internet has become mainstream, and I presume millions of people are unable to picture a life without it. With the internet becoming mainstream, we all have now access to a lot of knowledge that, before, was relegated to some libraries and spaces destinated to such goal. But, sadly, the common use of the internet is based on social media with all the surveillance nightmare we are living being involved.

Yes, the blockchain technology can become a really important part of a system far fairer than the one we have now. But, what concerns me is the use the society is going to give to this system. I mean: look that had happened to the internet: Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, et al, are the most used platforms by humanity, platforms, of course, at the service of centralized governments. What if the blockchain technology becomes something similar?

On the other hand, we have the bright side, the utopic one, in which the blockchain technology will be able of decentralizing the power and giving it back to the common people. However, I don`t see it coming.
6311  Other / Meta / Re: How to remain calm and cool on Bitcointalk ? - Question on: August 06, 2018, 05:03:04 PM

There was one time a couple years ago when I got really pissed off because I felt like I was getting attacked here.  Can't even remember what it was all about, and at this point I don't care.  I had to take a step back, a breath, and a few days' break from bitcointalk.

Yep, that can actually happen. Let`s be honest here: we spend a lot of hours per day in the forum, and, as well as you can feel that you are having some "good friends", you can feel nausea with other`s commentaries, other`s quotes, or even by other`s mere existence.
I`ve surprised myself by really feeling hate for one or other spammer, and also I got frustrated many many times because I used to take the things too personally, given the hours I`m around here.

The forum can be somehow addictive: you get addicted to the person you are building around here, like in a game, like feeling close to a character in a game-play. But this is just that: fiction characters engaging with other fictional characters. Yes, you can actually make some good cyber friends in here, yes, you can learn from other`s perspective, but to involve the feelings is to go too far.
Let`s keep the feeling for those close to us in our "real-physical-life" and, by doing so, just enjoy the positive things around here, for there are a lot!

6312  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: The only way to connect the whole world is by bitcoin. on: August 06, 2018, 04:25:55 PM
I think To the countries of the whole world Accept the bitcoin What will happen with bitcoin will make the currency world interconnected What can you think

Well, I think in the first place that you need to move this thread to the Bitcoin discussion general board, for I can`t see any relation with the legal stuff.
Besides, if you explain your idea further, why do you think so, what are your intellectual bases to conclude this, et al, maybe you will have some more succulents quotes, instead of beginning an unnecessary and potential useless megathread (we have enough of that).
So, why don`t you try harder?
It is evident: if (and that is a big IF) all the countries in the world accepted Bitcoin, the all would be interconnected by this, but in what sense? Meaning: do you believe that they will be then using all the same currency? Or that they would be connected politically speaking?
Do, you, on the contrary, believe, that, once "interconnected" they will have all the same use of Bitcoin as a global currency?

Can you just explain a little further your idea?
6313  Other / Meta / Re: List of Merit Worthy Posts on: August 05, 2018, 04:37:12 PM
Hi guys, is it allowed to create a thread for posting links of merit worthy posts? I'm sure most of us in our day to day use of bitcointalk forum, we encounter high quality posts but some of them are not recognized and rewarded because either the one who found it is not capable of giving merit or he/she has limited amount of merits to give. Also, some of high quality posts are not recognized or unnoticed because of flooding replies/posts/comments from other members.

The thread I am thinking is to be used only for nominating merit worthy posts. Anyone can nominate but must not be their own to prevent being bias.

The thread would be very much helpful to those who deserved but unnoticed and also to those who are giver of merits.

Hi there!!
Well, there are already been some attempts at doing things like that. Even though it doesn`t seem to harm, to be honest, everyone in here has a different mind and different preferences when giving merits, so this is proved to be useless.
Just think about what you consider a meritable post, not everyone is going to agree with you, and, if more threads like the suggested appear, this is going only to pollute the forum.
If you consider a post to be meritable, then I suggest for you to add this one to your watchlist if you don`t have any smerit to give or to merit it, that`s all.
6314  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to earn MERITS? on: August 05, 2018, 04:30:47 PM
I just read your posts and apparently, the problem is not the quality of your posts. It's the section you're posting in. Generally speaking, the altcoin section is usually full of spammers and people who don't read comments and If someone doesn't read your post, he won't know how helpful your post is = won't give you merits. I suggest continuing being helpful and post constructive posts, the merits will eventually come.

Totally agree. I`ve also taken a look at your post history and it seems pretty decent. Explore the forum. Engage with more debates in different areas in here. My favourite boards are:
- Serious discussion: if you have something relevant to discuss, I think this is the most serious and well-informed board, you might be able of learning a lot in there, as well as participate with some knowledge you have in some good conversations having place in there. Since the activity is not a problem in your case, for you have already more than enough to rank-up to a member, maybe this board will suit you.
- Meta. This board is for forum discussions purposes. This is my favourite, and you will learn in there what`s the current state of the forum, as well as the senior`s concerns related to the forum. Read it, read it well, even before posting.
- Politics and Society. Flying Hellfish is doing a great job in making of this board a nice place for discussions about anything related to the word we live in.
- Technical discussion. I love this one, if you have some technical knowledge, you will find in there good debates concerning new tech involving the blockchain et al.
- Technical support. Again, if you have some good knowledge about technical stuff, you will find in there people asking for help and you can actually help people.

Those are just few, but I think that if you contribute on this boards, given your posting quality, you might be able of overcoming the merit barrier soon enough. Of course, always read first the pinned threads of each board, and do not make a reply waiting for merits to come. This is an organic system, everything must be fluid.
Good luck, man.
6315  Other / Meta / Re: How do you feel about multiple accounts? on: August 05, 2018, 03:59:36 PM

Maybe you want to sell something here that others may frown upon or judge you for. Maybe you want to talk about politics without it effecting your reputation here. Maybe you want an alt account to use on less secure connections. Maybe you want to call out corruption or a scam but don't want to be the victim of possible retaliation. Maybe there are some other valid reasons. There are several reasons why it isn't prohibited as well.

Yep, totally agree. I don`t have any active alt account for the moment, but, due to the political situation in my country I do think it to be necessary in order to feel free to post whatever I want without compromising my identity in here.

To the OP, the big problem we have is spamming. Simple and clear. You can have multiple accounts if you desire, but the problem is that many of the people creating alts are doing it with the only goal of farming their accounts and engage in more and more bounties, so they can spam the forum with 3 or 4 accounts. Also, there are pages in which you can pay for someone to create an account and get activity for you. This is the problem: spamming. Everything is reduced to that.

Now, the rules are clear about spamming, however, few are complaining them and acting correctly in the forum. The 90% of the people in here came after the December`s hype with the only goal of making money, of milking the forum. Yes, some of them are creating infinite alts, yes, some of them use them as a way of spamming even harder. But we can`t just limit the freedom of the good ones based on what the others are doing. It would be an intolerable collateral damage.
6316  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you want a site to let you take part in English conversations? on: August 05, 2018, 03:30:32 PM
@seoinc

It will be a subset of the Fit to Talk member group. And if anybody abuses it, they will just be chucked off.

One way it could be used is for you and I to be online with a Spanish speaking member. He can select a thread on Bitcoin Talk where he wants to make a reply. He can start a post on FtT, and we can discuss this over the voice server, and edit the post in real time. When we all agree that is is a worthwhile post, then he can copy it onto the BT board.

Ummm I kinda like it, for it can be like a dictation, so we non-natives will learn a lot about listening. My spoken English is pathetic, though. I don`t have now a microphone, my lap`s one is dead (I was trying a couple of days ago of having a Skype conversation and it was impossible), but it sounds really nice. To me, at least, it will be really useful to practice my listening/speaking skills, I do sound like a drunk robot while trying to speak English.
6317  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do you want a site to let you take part in English conversations? on: August 05, 2018, 01:13:35 PM
I would use my own paid VPS hosting, and not a part of any of the other services.

I find it can be a good idea, but how are you going to implement that? Meaning: are you going to invite your team some random people or the system of engaging is going to be like in the FTT project?
Besides, can we implement that on FTT?? I think it can be easier for you since you have already "filter" the possible trolls or scammers. Now, it can be quite difficult to manage a lot of people in a voice chat, isn`t it? Is it going to be a selected group?

6319  Other / Meta / Re: How to remain calm and cool on Bitcointalk ? - Question on: August 05, 2018, 01:15:36 AM
How to remain calm and cool on Bitcointalk ? I have seen that sometimes things get heated up between members and then we see a lot of hate. This results in waste of lot of time and energy which could have spent in constructive activities on this forum.

Now this forum also has a lot of experienced members and I thought that it would be beneficial for us to hear about how they keep calm on this forum.

That`s quite simple: do not take things too personally. There are some people here really suffering from some contrarious quotes. This is a huge site with a lot of minds, so do not take anything too personally or too serious. That`s, for me, the magic formula  Cool

And also always listen to JC jajaja
6320  Other / Meta / Re: Why aren't obvious scammers banned? on: August 04, 2018, 05:10:10 PM
Why aren't the obvious scammers banned from this forum?  I was reading through scam accusations and have come across a lot of serious cases.  For example this user is a scammer that stole 20 btc https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=358020

I would consider these type of people much more harmful than someone that plagiarizes.

Everything has its nuances and we are not legal experts or advisors in here. I think that no-one in the forum should be able of acting like one. Now, Scam accusations are useful to see what`s going on with a user before making any agreement, as well as the trust system. But, we are not lawyers, so, how can you determine if there is enough proof and maybe vanish an innocent guy? Who will throw the very first stone if we decide to stone someone?

This is not an Inquisitorial place, but a free one. I think the Trust system, as well as the Scam Accusation board, are fairly enough to help people to come to their very own conclusions. Now, it will be, no doubt, a personal interpretation.
