6301  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Anthony Pompliano holds 50% of Net Worth In Bitcoin on: August 07, 2019, 02:54:52 PM
I think it's normal. One has to invest in whatever one believes and the sum should be the one that the investor can afford to lose. We're not talking about a guy who wouldn't survive without this money. And Bitcoin indeed seems to be the best investment with relatively low long-term risks and very high potential profits. Plus this guy is young, so willing to explore his options and take his odds of winning. I would not even be surprised if he had the majority of his net worth in Bitcoin, actually. And I know people for whom their BTC is almost everything they have.
Really mad guy.. This is too risky
But what isn't? We're talking about investments here, they are always risky. People used to think that the housing market was a very safe investment until it wasn't in 2008. And some still find gold an attractive investment, but just look at gold's price dynamics over the last 5 years and you'll see that you are not likely to lose much with it, but you won't really profit from this investment either.
6302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is Bitcoin Becoming More Available? on: August 07, 2019, 02:44:48 PM
Bitcoin is becoming more affordable, that's for sure. But, governments prevent this, it is absolutely true
Actually, Bitcoin is clearly becoming less affordable, since the price increases with time. Moreover, it's also not becoming more available from the miner's perspective, with each halving cutting the rewards by 50%.
And governments don't always try to prevent people from using Bitcoin more. Some of them are being friendly and trying to make sure everyone benefits of the new technology.
And in terms of ways to use and exchange Bitcoin - yes, I think it's clear that the situation is getting better. In my country, we now have dozens of exchanges that allow buying/selling BTC for money in local fiat being sent to the bank account, and we can regularly see the news that Bitcoin is now accepted by even more companies as payment.
6303  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Binance hacked again 10k+ KYC (FACEBOOK 2.0 LEAKAGE) on: August 07, 2019, 02:29:59 PM
There are still no proofs, guys

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgH-Kd9Tsew bro half of them are holding a sign that says Binance
Wow, this is a major problem. $10k is clearly nothing, as Binance even managed the situation pretty well when the exchange lost $40 million. But all of those identities being revealed - yeah, this is potential Facebook-like lawsuit or even something more serious. I never agree to KYC online specifically because I don't feel comfortable about people being able to see me and my passport, and this case only strengthens my position. Showing an ID briefly to some authorities is one thing, but uploading photos is really different. Funny how the CEO said not to fall into FUD, even though it's a very big deal and Binance did not even apologize yet.
6304  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What should we do ? on: August 04, 2019, 05:13:58 PM
This is somewhat a ridiculous plan by the Indian Government which is synonymous to banning the use of pirated movies and music which of course is very

difficult task to do! Even the U.S. Government recognizes it as a very difficult task to implement and only promotes it adoption over time.
Banning Bitcoin as such is pretty much impossible, sure. But you see, people still need to exchange their BTC for fiat if they want to make use of the money. And this requires online exchanges or a very good system of interpersonal direct exchanges of money. The government can track such exchanges and pretend to be Bitcoin buyers to learn who the sellers are, thus covering both ways of selling Bitcoins, and it can impose serious sentences like imprisonment or huge fines. This would be enough to discourage the vast majority of users.
Op, if it's clearly a crypto ban in India, and there's not much hope for a change of heart, and you're not planning to move to another country, I wouldn't risk holding something i can go to jail for, while you still can legally sell your BTC and get your money (if you can).
6305  Economy / Gambling / Re: xGalaxy Poker Platform - Play poker using XGCS or BTC on: August 04, 2019, 04:56:38 PM
I received my 100 XGCS and planned to play. However, as it turns out, there is only one table where one can play with this bonus money, and it's a poker table, so one has to wait until someone joins the game. I've been waiting for about half an hour now, sitting at the table alone, and the previous couple of times I didn't even sit there since I saw the table was empty. This is a big downside that could be fixed with bots, perhaps, but I also understand that some casinos might not want to let people play with bots since bots can have flaws and this gives a disadvantage to the casino.
Apart from that, I keep pushing "sign-up" instead of "sign-in", because it's on the right and the color of the button is bright blue. Perhaps, it would improve the experience if you located the buttons in a different way or simply deleted the sign-up button for a person whose profile data is already remembered.
6306  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Co-owner of shuttered Polish crypto exchange Bitmarket found >> dead on: August 04, 2019, 04:48:27 PM
A bullet straight to the head already indicates that the dude knows something and won't budge into whoever ordered the hit/took the shot. This might be a feud between the management and/or someone who lost tons of money on the said exchange, or could have been severe depression leading to Niemiro's suicide. I doubt the suicide part upon seeing the circumstances that lead to Bitmarket shutting their doors down to the public, but then again no exact reason has been found out up to this day as to why the guy was dead.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/co-owner-of-now-defunct-crypto-exchange-bitmarket-found-dead
I believe when it's suicide shot it's usually clear because the self-inflicted wounds are somehow different. Seems to be a business-related murder. Maybe he misbehaved with some partner or maybe someone was jealous of his success. I guess the misbehavior version is more likely since the exchange simply closed a couple of weeks before the murder. So someone probably lost too much money there and figured the owner deserved to die for robbing people. I wonder if there was going to be an investigation and accusations of robbery had the owner not been found dead... Closing an exchange just like that should not have been left without fast reaction.
6307  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Research reveals that U.S Dollars have been used to launder money than Bitcoin on: August 04, 2019, 04:41:06 PM
you have to be real stupid to use the most transparent money transferring system in the world to "launder money". it is practically like shouting about your dirty laundry to the whole world from the rooftops every second of every day since the transactions are going to be always visible on the "public ledger" for all to see.
Well, even though Bitcoin offers great transparency in terms of publicly available transactions, since these transactions, unlike those going through banks, are not directly linked to specific people, so this can be very useful for laundering money. However, there are much more useful cryptos like Monero and Dash for illegal activities, I guess, since they don't even have public transaction records.
As for the research, there was another thread about it recently with more detailed data. But all of the info I saw lack essential information on the methodology of performing that research (what is taken into account when we compare money laundering in dollars and bitcoins). It's safe to say that both are used for good and for bad stuff, so the bad stuff should not be taken against Bitcoin.
6308  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin - A deflationary Currency on: August 03, 2019, 08:09:21 PM
There is a law in physics named "The law of entropy increasing". It says that whatever you do, whatever you say, the entropy (the disorder) in this world increases. For example: I sweep in my home with a broom, I make more disorder outside my home when I throw the trash.

This is what happens with the money in the world, no matter what I am doing (deleting the zeros from some paper money, making 100 000 000 whatever money to be 100 new money, etc) the total money in this world increases.  With the total money, the prices increase.  In my country in the last 10 years, the prices have increased approx 7 times, while the salaries increased 1.5 times.

A deflationary currency is a currency that makes the prices to increase slower than the salaries. That is, a person can afford to go travel to other countries, can feed himself and his family very good, can buy 3 homes, etc. In this understanding bitcoin is a deflationary currency. It allows the earnings (the reward of a person work) to grow faster than the prices.

In physics, the entropy is indeed increasing globally, but under extreme circumstances it's possible to decrease it locally, forming a new kind of order, at the expense of the global increase. And financial inflation can be compared with entropy in a sense that devaluation is like disorder, but I don't think the example holds till the end. Deflation means that the value of money is growing rather than going down. 1 BTC now is less than 1 BTC in a year kind of thing. The prices, however, can get adjusted in various ways. Deflation is widely considered to be a bad thing because it does not encourage people to spend money (why buy something now if I can buy more of it in a week?), but this view supposes that people are behaving rationally when making purchase decisions, which they aren't.
6309  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Tone Vays has won me over: There is Bitcoin...and shitcoins. on: August 03, 2019, 06:42:00 PM
The Bitcoin and shitcoins thinking has been around since the early stages but gained popularity especially during the current bullish market. Indeed, unlike in 2017, Bitcoin's success is currently not associated with the growth of altcoin market at all, and BTC dominance is very high.
But I still believe that some coins deserve attention. IOTA with DAG is still not appreciated enough, and Ethereum's smart contracts are important, even though kit particularly user-friendly yet. As for the majority of the market - yeah, it's just trash.
6310  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How Do You Inform Yourself? on: August 03, 2019, 01:56:33 PM
Thank you all, Ive Added the Links you Suggested and also a few New Ones On my Own.
If You have More Please Send them Smiley
You made a good list there, and my favourite website is simply coinmarketcap. I also strongly agree about cointelegraph being a good source, even though sometimes it seems to be too pro-crypto (not objective) to me. I would like to add a YouTube channel by a famous and very smart person: https://m.youtube.com/user/aantonop. His videos aren't particularly interactive to me, but he sure knows his stuff.
As for crypto news, sometimes I simply read the articles by Guardian and Forbes on the matter, as these portals are generally reputable.
6311  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can the blockchain tech be used to prevent counterfeiting of physical cash? on: August 02, 2019, 01:02:04 PM
Quote
the sale of counterfeits and pirated goods are worth $1,700 billion per year

Are you sure about this number?? Looks exorbitant!!

Blockchain technology can't help in identifying bank issued notes until a microchip is installed in that note! There has to be a tracking mechanism installed in the physical goods to attach it with the controlling blockchain, otherwise you won't get the desired output! Because two notes with same number can't exist and a tracking mechanism is needed to separate the legal note from a counterfeited note! I am practically getting no other solution to it!

I remember an ICO about a year ago that was dedicated to using blockchain to fight fake clothes that resemble famous brands. I think since in that case, it was about rather fancy clothes that cost a lot already, the idea was to install microchips to keep track and know for sure. As for cash... Yeah, microchips are not an option due to the costs (and perhaps due to the weight as well). I am not good at it, but what about printing QR-codes? Can't we make the ones linked to a specific blockchain? To tell the actual banknote from the counterfeit one the code will simply need to be scanned. Maybe it's just something I don't understand about QR-codes, but it seems to be a simple and viable solution to me. Then again, if it wasn't implemented yet, perhaps it's impossible for a reason unknown to me.
If anyone can explain why this idea isn't possible or, if possible, isn't implemented yet, please do.
6312  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin: A Medium Of Exchange *Not A Fiat Multiplier* on: August 02, 2019, 12:41:59 PM
I completely agree that using exchanges as your wallet is an improper way to use Bitcoin, but using them to buy or sell is perfectly acceptable.
Yes, after all, it's not realistic to believe people will only get Bitcoin by mining it or by asking a friend to share some for free/actual goods. You're mentioning using exchanges as wallets, but I was also thinking about wallets in general for a while. We all use them, but it means that we are often again trusting a third party to keep our coins safe (okay, sometimes there's no way this third party can break into our accounts, but it still exists as an intermediary). So basically, unless it's a paper wallet kind of situation, even if one is not using exchanges, one is usually not using Bitcoin the way Satoshi had in mind.
6313  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: British Virgin Islands introducing new fee to send money abroad on: August 02, 2019, 12:30:04 PM
Some bank haters like me already use Bitcoin because I already learned my lesson long ago but even now, there are many people who are happy to live with banks and governments. Go on and make them hate you.
It's not always easy to avoid banks. I don't like them much, for one, but use them quite often anyway. Because I receive my salary to the bank account, I need fiat to pay in the supermarket, for rent and transport. And honestly, even though I appreciate Bitcoin and don't trust banks much, I keep the money I cannot afford to lose in fiat, usually on my bank account. Because accumulating cash means that you'll have problems spending it on something big if you feel like it, plus flat robberies are way more common in my country than bank robberies. Moreover, in fiat at least I approximately know how much purchasing power I'll have in a year, whereas holding everything in Bitcoin is just too risky.
6314  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin Adopt New coins ? on: August 02, 2019, 12:22:29 PM
competing with newer coins?
There are alot of coins resolving these issues ,

no, not a single coin exists that has resolved any issue without creating a dozen new ones. for example they "increase speed" or more precisely decrease the time between blocks but that increases the orphan rate and decreases the security. they increase the block size and that increases centralization, propagation time, resource consumption,...
It's true that it's more or less about balancing advantages and disadvantages when it comes to solving issues like scalability. However, IMO DAG is unfairly overlooked by the crypto-community. Sure, it's not without its own problems like serious centralization issues at early stages, and many bugs (the latter could be solved by more well-skilled people working on it, I guess). But it's better from the long-term perspective, because the hardest stuff is at the beginning, and as the community grows, the fees, speed and centralization issues disappear. I still hope IOTA will get its deserved attention someday.
6315  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Educating lawmakers on Bitcoin means instilling fears: esp money laundering on: August 02, 2019, 12:03:33 PM
Many countries have already developed legislation to regulate the crypto market. In some cases, we're talking about cryptos as securities, assets, property, but in other cases, it's even recognized as legal tender. Regulations can be tough when they impose big taxes, taking a solid amount of profits or making it hard to go through all of the bureaucracy to manage your business (or both). But at least they mean that cryptos are not illegal, and in a way, it's always some sort of support and popularization. But money laundering concerns are overstated, and as for Libra - I think it's not a friend of the crypto market.

100 XGCS credited. good luck
Thanks, I got the 100 XGCS. However, I am having difficulties with actually trying the games out. Each time I try to choose a table and play poker, even when the stakes are significantly below 100, the notification message says I don't have enough money to sit there. Is it a bug or a restriction? What can one do with 100 XGCS on your website?
6317  Other / Off-topic / Re: Chinese Ghost Month on: August 01, 2019, 03:41:49 PM
China is unclear on its crypto policy anyway, but I believe the market is not so deeply affected by these changes of heart anymore. So if some people from China decide not to buy more BTC, I don't think it will be a big deal. Especially so since the Ghost Month doesn't seem to suggest to stop the business you're already started (=sell your coins).
I don't think now is the right time to sell. Surely, it largely depends on the price at which you bought, and on your plans and needs, but even though $10k is a nice level, it seems clear that Bitcoin can do a lot better in the next year or two.
6318  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 17,800,000 BTC already mined on: August 01, 2019, 03:23:37 PM
Anyone noticed that we have breached 17,800,000 BTC already? Which means that 85% of all BTC have been mined. And in the next 10+ years we can all assumed that 'almost' all bitcoin is mined already. Have you accumulated at least 1 BTC in your wallet?

Current bitcoin mined:  17,851,062 BTC
I don't have even 1 BTC in my wallet yet, but I know a person who does. He has this one Bitcoin that he never does anything with, no matter what happens with the price. Must have been difficult not to sell when you realize you had $20k and then a year later it's only $4k. But he's very bullish about Bitcoin and absolutely sure it'll hit $100k in the following years. What I don't like about this long holding, though, is that it's not clear what to use it for and when (sell when $50k, $100k, $500k... where's the limit?). It's indeed surprising that almost all of the bitcoins will be mined pretty soon. A very solid amount of them is lost forever already, though, which makes Bitcoin even more scarce.
6319  Economy / Gambling / Re: xGalaxy Poker Platform - Play poker using XGCS or BTC on: August 01, 2019, 03:01:04 PM
What's with these new casinos having multiple threads? Well, at least your second one is not in Gambling, but in Games and Rounds, which is not that much of a violation, I suppose. Anyway, I posted my username there, and I'll be waiting for the credits. For now, I want to say that I liked the website's design in general and I found the skin settings unusual and useful, but I also found it weird when the 'you've successfully registered' thing came out on the screen in the red box. Red is usually for wrong, green is for right, but here the good news is in the red, which for me a bit confused.
