6341  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 21 co introducing bitcoin [mining+] computer for $399.99 (unofficial thread) on: September 23, 2015, 12:18:19 AM
It seems pretty spendy for what it is... but then again we dont even know its full capability regarding software and whatnot.

I sure hope the R1 is around $100

Sidehacks Compac - 25
Tplink nano -30 (20 some places).

So I hope they are between the 50-75 mark.   There is nothing revolutionary with R1 just a travel router that mines.   So I hope closer to 50 mark.

But likely they will have priced up some.   But not near the 400, then again I dont think R1 will get near speed of this 21 device.
6342  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [BTC-E] ballance stuck in meta trader account on: September 23, 2015, 12:13:23 AM
i was planing to use PAMM the i created account and funded it with 30 mBTC, then i want to recover it to my normal account i can't do that
it gives me this error :

please help, i don't want to lose my money

I believe you are going to have to contact BTC-e support.    I know in old times they were known for being slow.

But I think that is your best bet.  Let us know how it goes.
6343  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: September 22, 2015, 10:57:10 PM
Used DHL and mine is at

5   Clearance event   SHENZHEN - CHINA, PEOPLES REPUBLIC   02:47

Details =>  Clearance is pending as the shipment will be cleared by the importer's designated external Broker.

Should I contact Bitmain ?

EDIT1: Apparently they didn't properly fill all the documents .... hope this is not going to take forever to fix ....
EDIT2: No ones in the same boat ?.
EDIT3: I'm really pissed off ...

I think DHL is one of the outlier companies.. most use FedEx or UPS

I would agree.  I avoid using DHL like the plague.    There are a few that prefer it.  But I think it's a very small few overall.

I would contact DHL and ask them what they need.  If it's something you can do or if you need bitmain to do someting.

I know, im not stupid
you clearly misunderstood the post

yeah. you're saying that the admins should make an exception for site/business owners. I'm not sure that's a viable or good idea.

The problem is a lot of the spam for sites were shills chances linked to owner's.   I don't think we should give a way around the rule, I like it personally for the most part.

But guess I am just one small opinion.
6345  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Sidehack stick solo pool club on: September 22, 2015, 10:35:39 PM
My single stick pointed at the club address is down to 125 frequency, I have it running solo on an old laptop and that was all I could squeeze out the stick at 0.5a measured at the usb port.  I have very little hash going at this point in the summer, I'll see if I can't free up a bit more from regular solo lottery mining and share it here.  It wouldn't be much, but every GH helps.

More stats to watch would be really fun, but hopefully no one loses sleep over it.

Is the intention at some point to only have Compac sticks pointed to the club?  I think ultimately that would be really cool.

I think keeping it to smaller USB's at least.  I hope it is that you can add extra, but it remains somehow where 1 1T machine does not kill all compacs when we do track speed's in a month.
6346  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER U3 Discussion and Support Thread on: September 22, 2015, 10:02:10 PM

what else should I add in there to work simultaneously two antminer u3

If you read this thread you'll find that more people had problems running more than 1 U3 at the same time than could do so successfully.  You may be in the majority where you can only have one U3 running at a time.

It could be luck but I have 3 U3's running right now.  They do zombie out sometimes but are fun to play with.  To be fair it's not that they zombie out a ton, it's just that I don't notice it right away as I don't keep a eye on them as much as some might.
6347  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: September 22, 2015, 10:00:23 PM
you have to try the linux 7 build .

night and day over windows.
Looking forward to it, it's on the to do list.  Going to try Debian on usb and Ubuntu on an old laptop.

You will love it and not go back to windows on one machine.  Always could do RPI like I did aswell.

But it's so much nicer then messing with Windows drivers.   It just works great in linux.
6348  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining Profitable? on: September 22, 2015, 09:58:02 PM
A big chunk of "Mining Profitability" these days is related to when you sell the miner (i.e. asset) and the resale value at that time. You may well not "Break Even" (aka ROI) until you actually sell it. I am certain that the S7 will need to be sold in order to generate any actual profit for most folks. As to when that happens, it all depends on your situation, and what's happen in general (e.g. difficulty, BTC price, new miners, etc). The S7 probably set a new record for how long it held it's value in terms of price. It never got priced real high, and difficulty and BTC price remained fairly stable for months. I don't think you can expect the same for the S7.

Do you agree with me that difficulty will have an effect on it?  I mean if low difficulty... you don't have to sell for long time.   If high difficulty changes less time with miner and it get's sold sooner.

I'm just still trying to understand how difficulty is overestimated from earlier in thread.
6349  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How does the physical coins are made ? on: September 22, 2015, 09:28:53 PM
I like the coins that allow you to do the paper yourself.  It just makes me feel more secure.   And I know some of the big coins are considered very trusted, I just am extra cautious.

Yes, I would buy blanks to load myself for keep. For gifts, I just print paper wallets with a cools designs.  Cheesy

The one that is just the most insane is the 1 500 btc bar that still is loaded - http://casascius.uberbills.com/?type=500 .    There is someone right now who has the Casascius bar with 500 btc on it.

And it's hard to tell it's actual worth.  It is crazy think of it's value to physical coin collectors.
6350  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Mining Profitable? on: September 22, 2015, 08:31:56 PM
The S7 will never achieve ROI at .15 cents/kwh - unless bitcoin price rises a lot more than it has been doing, or diff suddently stops increasing.

Even at a 3% average diff increase and 6.7 cent / KWH power cost, the S7 costs more than it will ever return - and recent diff increases have been a LOT more than 3%.

I'm not sure at this point if an S7 will be profitable AT ALL past the halfing, unless your electric is in the UNDER 5 cents/KWH range.

if you're talking about 3% diff increase per month, it's more than doable, look at the antminers s5, its profit remained at 0.01 for a very long time, at least since january which is 9 months already, this is more than enough to roi with everything out there

only recently , dropped to 0.009, so the whole diff increase is a bit overestimated...

How can you say it's overestimated?  I still don't understand.   Here shows direct changes in earning - https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/difficulty

To say my one S5 stayed close to same payout there difficulty does not really matter is crazy.
6351  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Sidehack stick solo pool club on: September 22, 2015, 08:00:34 PM
I don't see any real problems with it other then how to deal with stick down time.  For now I am going to err on the generous side if a stick crashes and is offline when we hit a block. As long as everyone is pretty much okay with it that way.
It would have to have been offline for a sufficient amount of time to also impact the 1d rolling average pretty badly.  But yeah, otherwise - since you're poking at linux anyway - look up cron jobs Smiley  Can just download each participants' stats to a daily stats file and tally up the numbers as appropriate if/when a block is found.

That would be a simple solution too. It's easy to periodically query the JSON stats of the workers and save that in a file. In fact, that's what the notification script does, although currently it only "remembers" the last query without a historical record, so every 90 seconds it would be updated.

That probably doesn't matter since the script stores the JSON results in its entirety, including the daily average. Should be enough to figure out the hash rate contribution given that people will notice that the club found a block in way less than a day. A solved block would be noticed in seconds, I suspect Wink

That said, if there was interest in keeping a limited historical record, that would be pretty easy to add. I designed the stats file format so that it would be easy to extend with new data structures.

Note that instead of using the script directly, anyone familiar with Python could take a look at it as an example. Most of the complexity of the script comes from command line option handling and support for authenticated emails. The actual code that loops through a list of workers querying the JSON stats URLs is just a few lines of code.

In the meantime if Phil wants to play with the script as-is, I've PM'd him with the info to get started, plus a discussion of other additions that could be made to to the script.

I will get some alone time on it tonight. I think a 48-72 hour history is long enough if possible.
I would hate for someone to run a stick 20 days in a row go away for a week end have the stick crash and not get anything.
Once I have a working one set up I can look at it 2x a day to see if someone is attempting to game the system.  these first 30 days are looser due to the extra hash I am tossing at this. but after 30 day we should have this set up just fine.

I would love if we did get some stats.  I really would like to see it turn into a social aspect to.   Not sure what is best but say if had a website that tracks/shows stats maybe a social aspect like troll box, or something I think could be fun.

I'm would also love if we had a stat that told something like with current X speed we stand a 1 in X chance of hitting block.   Would enjoy watching that just like I watch difficulty.
6352  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How does the physical coins are made ? on: September 22, 2015, 07:32:37 PM
Just curious about this: What's to stop the person who put the private key on the piece of paper from keeping a copy of the private key?
You have to trust the person that makes the coin. That is why DIY coins have little resale value.
But I will admit even on well known ones I have always been afraid of having to trust a 3rd party who puts coins together.  I don't think we have seen any problems on it, just scares me personally.

I worry about that all the time. This is why I am reluctant to buy a loaded physical coin.

Trust would be a problem when bitcoin is worth multiple-orders higher than the price today. Coin makers will not use all of the coined keys, that would be too obvious. Just take any 1 key and no one would suspect.  Lips sealed

I just would have a problem keeping a ton in it.  Maybe a 1 btc coin and let it sit for years.  But I personally like to do it myself.

I like the coins that allow you to do the paper yourself.  It just makes me feel more secure.   And I know some of the big coins are considered very trusted, I just am extra cautious.
6353  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Placing machines outside on cold winter? -20 on: September 22, 2015, 07:23:26 PM
As long as you don't get wet on your machines it sounds like a good idea. -20 would be too much, dunno if any electronic devicewould work at that temperature.

I think the hardest part is letting air in and out.  This is needed to run miners an intake and exhaust of air.  OP is talking about a roof and 2 sides I believe this leaves 2 sides open to the elements.

The miners chances are will heat up.  And when they do you will be running with water/ice inside i think.   You cannot make air tight so it leaves it to elements of outdoors.

I still highly suggest moving inside with miners and send exhaust outside.  Water can do a lot of damage.

There won't be any kind of elements getting inside, discard this, as there will be a roof over the "box" whit roof.

The Air is dry so to carry mositure it wont be that easy.

Is it snow or ice by miner?   I'm guessing ice with temp but snow still could fall I'm guessing.

I just think if air is able to get in possibly some bad elements could to.  If snow or ice is pushing against intake when it snows and it melts seems possible for it to come inside of the box.  I just have not seen anyone done this at these temps before.

And I could be wrong, just don't see to many miners outside, and specifically at this temp.

Yeah but it wont come anything from the underside it will be sealed aswell, hot air goes up, and cold air will go down..

Intake will always be fresh air.

If cpus can hold nitrogen why would -20 c affect the chips ?

I hope I am wrong as I would love to see this insane box of mining.  I just think decent chance intake could take a little water/ice if wind blows it up.

I don't think we have seen anyone run a miner at this low -20.  So again would be interesting if you do it.
6354  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: 21 co introducing bitcoin [mining+] computer for $399.99 (unofficial thread) on: September 22, 2015, 07:20:10 PM
I think that you are correct... I am waiting for Antminer R1 that will be useful device unlike this overpriced piece of hardware...

I think R1 will be overpriced aswell.  Not to this point of almost crazy.  I almost think 21 want's a release without having to make many products.... so release high price and only sell a few.

With R1 it is still nothing revolutionary.  It should not be much higher then the usb micro tplink and one of sidehacks sticks.   But we will see they could surprise me and release at good price.
6355  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How Do You Earn Free Bitcoins? on: September 22, 2015, 06:09:09 PM
I want to get 0.1BTC to 1BTC or more in 1 week if that is possible without spending any money. Does anyone know like websites or activities that could get me that much bitcoins?
does not seem to exist, even if you have the capital 0.1BTC to be 1BTC in a week. it is difficult.

You have to remember BTC is money.  To get 10x in any investment in a week is a pretty big jump.  There is just not a repeatable method of doing it, it would be to good to be true.

About best you can do with no money is signature campaigns but its not going to be 1 BTC per week.
6356  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitmain to make a U4..??? on: September 22, 2015, 06:03:40 PM
It's not just a money thing, it's a support and warranty thing. As soon as the product is not complete there are so many more variables in the equation and things that the customer can mess up.

Rich

Ahh good point.

They have tightened down on warranty at this point.  As of my S5+ you have to get permission from them to do pretty much anything or it voids warranty.

They could sell chips to others we saw a little bit of this for the compacs made.  I hope they continue that but not sure they will at least for a while since new chip.
6357  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: September 22, 2015, 06:00:08 PM
Just got an update on my shipping that was to be dilivered on Wednesday.  Here is the update:

09/22/2015   8:22 A.M.   A valid ID # (tax, personal, deferment) required for clearance is missing. We're working to obtain this information.
09/22/2015   8:21 A.M.   The package is awaiting clearing agency review. / The package is at the clearing agency awaiting final release.

I hope this is not going to be a delay.

Give them a call and make sure to provide them any information they are missing ASAP.
Happened to me twice with KNC Jupiters and Spondoolies systems.
Caused a few days in delay and ended up costing me a few bitcoins in profit Sad

Thank you so much!!!  They are in KY and said that all they needed was my tax id or ssn.  I gave it to them and they said that they would release it.  Whew!  Thanks Again!!

I am just curious why UPS would need your SSN or tax id #. In the past they never asked for that information for my S3 to C1 shipments. My S7s are coming on the 24th, so far no hold up.

Same here, all my miners from Bitmain came UPS thru the KY hub and never had a person ask anything like that either?

I have never been asked SSN or tax id either for any miner.  On the bitmain psu they shipped it at a lower weight then it was, I had to write UPS a check for that.    But I cant see what SSN would have to do with miner shipment.
6358  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: GekkoScience Compac BM1384 Stickminer Official Support Thread on: September 22, 2015, 04:33:57 PM
Any peticular flavor of Debian being used?
My sticks arrived promptly.

I think most are using just new stable releases.  I have used regular debian and raspberian (built on debian).    Both work fine for me.

Linux really is much easier then microsoft on these miners.  Only part that was hard for me was RPI and my hub, but that was a RPI problem not compac problem.
6359  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S4+ Discussion and Support Thread on: September 22, 2015, 04:28:45 PM
Thank you very much for your interest , but I only want the solution to the problem of the 2 cards that do not work
Dealing with Bitmain has always been excellent but think about spending more time sending undermined me not to my liking.

You need to tell details still.  Is this something the miner has always done?

Or is it new for it to do?  Or a new miner for you completly?

I'm asking as breaking those bolts is not normal.  And trying to understand timeline.
6360  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I speculate that 21 Inc. is insane with their preorder momputer for $400 on: September 22, 2015, 04:26:10 PM
Hopefully they eventually sell the general public some bigger miners.

Why?
There's absurd amounts of hashpower out there now, burning power like crazy, why is the mantra always MOAR MOAR MOAR?

As we could use more selling big miners to public.   A lot of miners will not ever make it to general public, notice that before you jump on it.

I would like it not just being bitmain supplying home miners.  One company having all control is not a good thing.

I understand where you are coming from, but the arms race mentality that is developing here doesn't usually bode well for small players, if anything, it hastens concentration of power in the hands of a few. This 21 gambit is a short term money grabbing irrelevance imo.

But me wanting another company to sell to general public is a good thing.  No matter what big companies will keep pumping out machines as long as there is profit.  The day's where little guys controlled the market is over.

I'm not saying I like the change, but now a few big guys own most of the market.    I just want another public miner company.
