I think the real key is "become smarter". You are not always to hold your assets with patience every time. For the coins that possibly die, you are absolutely better to sell them even if it is in bear market. While for top coins that may be promising for the next rise, it is no problem to hold. Become smarter means you know the best decision and how to make it to be true. But patience doesn't always mean a smart one, you should understand it..
I agree with you except we must be patient we must have more information, knowledge about the cryptocurrencies, businesses and investing. It is useful power in cryptocurrencies space and other, our knowledge will helps to make decision on all of instrument of investment, with knowledge investment is not risk we will get high risk if we don't know anything about the cryptocurrencies, so we must follow the trend of cryptocurrencies and the latest updating about the cryptocurrencies to be smarter. Before patience you need to make a right choice! You can sit on some coins for life, but that doesn`t mean that will pay off one day, you need to choose right coin and sit on it for years. I saw many new tokens going to 1 satoshi after hitting exchanges, many coins had a long way to bottom, the key factor for succeeding in cryptocurrencies is choosing the right altcoins to invest in them. The right coin on which you were sitting for years doesn't always fruit well, there are times when project suffers from financial (like many nowadays) troubles and they give up the project even when they have no intentions for doing so. Nothing is certain.

Of course, low supply. But, I have seen lots of such coins turn out to be a scam.
Some scam projects use term 'low supply' to bait buyers.

If you CAN trade then sure do trading. But, if you suck at it then holding will be a better choice.

Read somewhere that they were able to recover around 2.7m, but many users already did cash out so couldn't recover all.

I would say, ethereum is safe choice. It's bound to rise sooner or later. But, you can never guess the market condition, so buy using dollar cost averaging.
Yes, many have seen such conditions in past and as the saying goes, history repeats itself. You got to endure and survive!
That was good. In this market, only strong will thrive and doing bounties of those projects will worth the effort, hopefully.

There was ICO for Ethereum but not for Bitcoin, I do not think ICOs need much funds for the start up of the project. There were some apps who needed millions to build a mobile app, like for real.

This thread was made in August, so people who sold at that time in 'panic' would be in much better condition now than holders. They can double their BTC if they buy again.
Not sure if this is shilling of Nauctius? Anyway, it's good idea to invest after the ICO, usually bounty hunters and in need of money investors dump on forkdelta/etherdelta/idex. You will be able to purchase at much less price than ICO price.

They are both different. BTC is more of store of value and ethereum allows to create dApps. No one is replacing either.
Edit: Guess I misunderstood the post.
Agree, now Ethereum has competition. Many other platforms provide fee-less transactions and in more quantity, Ethereum needs to step it's game up or will be abolished.
Pretty much same mistakes I made, I had literally a life changing money from the last years bounties/airdrops, but alas didn't sell.
I'd shill you Steem. It has most active community, Steem has tons of use cases, many dApps come regularly and gives you passive income.
Well, I held several coins, some exit scammed, some abandoned the project and some are facing financial problems in continuing the project.
Don't hold.
Just learn about this coin now, thanks for sharing. The volume is amazing, looks like a legit coin but I still need to check all the information about this project.
With less than 100 million circulating supply, i guess it would go up to at least $1 once market bounce back.
Okex is well known for wash trading, so couldn't care less about volume on that exchange. But sure, if it gives you profit then who cares.

Don't regret and learn from experience, it might be very hard but that's all positive choice you got.
Those who removed their coins from cryptopia exchange on 'proof-of-keys' day, just got lucky. Those got hacked, just got their second reminder.
Piece of advise from my experience: Don't ever invest in any ICO where lead person is anonymous, in 99% cases it will turn out to be a scam.
I like, how you asked about 'ether' rather than 'ethereum' because many do that without realizing that they can't trade 'ethereum' as it's platform and not a currency.
