6361  Other / Politics & Society / Re: ^^^ You just haven't gone far enough. on: June 17, 2021, 06:48:37 PM
I think the reason why philipma1957 deleted part of your replies in his self-moderated thread is because of this:

First, there is no Covid... at least that anybody can find - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5294239.msg57248441#msg57248441. So, the 2 million dead is a lie.

Covid-19 is real and has killed many people.

Basically, Covid is a vitamin D deficiency, like scurvy is a vitamin C deficiency, and beriberi is a vitamin B1 deficiency.
Is scurvy or beriberi a communicable disease? No. But, covid-19 is a communicable disease. If someone lack 1,25-dihydroxycholecalciferol (vitamin D), the deficiency of vitamin D that is common in children is rickets while osteomalacia in adults. Osteomalacia is not even a common disease because adults body can synthesize the vitamin D needed for long time period. I do not know how vitamin D deficiency should cause communicable disease. Maybe you meant, lack of vitamin D can weaken the immune system and make it susceptible to such disease, but I do not know about that, and that does not mean the body's deficiency in Vitamin D is the cause, it is not.

HCQ is in standard use in Africa for Malaria, and they barely had any Covid deaths. And the biggest medical lie of all is that the Covid vaccine has any effect on protecting people from what they call Covid, and doing it safely.
African country's environment do not favour covid-19.
6362  Economy / Reputation / Hero today, it's been all fun right from the start. on: June 17, 2021, 05:51:13 PM
I am thinking to wait until I achieve legendary before posting this, but that is another 1 year plus from now, so I decide to post this now as it has been what I experienced on this forum. When I joined, many newbies were saying this forum is merit centralized, it was the other way around for me but I tried my best to know the norms on this forum (asking and contributing quality information, most especially about Bitcoin, but not limited to only bitcoin). I finally had to know that this forum is so helpful, helping to know how to make use of Bitcoin and even many other cryptocurrencies safely and securely, and in addition to knowing about Bitcoin, I have also participated in some signature campaigns.

Since I joined, there has been many helpful members which really helped me knowing more about bitcoin and ways to privacy and safety. I am using this privilege to appreciate many members of this forum. Cryptopreneurbrainboss and Upgrade for being an encouragement for me that I can also learn about bitcoin like my brothers. DdmrDdmr, for support during the process of me ranking up, I noticed he always read links posted in posts, reading it carefully, making quality posts about it and sometimes including the original link of the link included in OP posts. o-e-l-e-o, for guidance, I read some of his posts that helped me to know child-pay-for-parent, orphaned blocks and replace-by-fee, helped correcting me several times, but I really gained from his corrections unlike some other people that just want to criticize some posts without no good reason. pooya87, for letting me to understand keys and addresses and many more, but he may not know this because he did not know I am following many of his posts, I know about transaction input and output from one of his posts that helped me in a topic, and also about keys and addresses, his post helped me understand it while reading. LoyceV, for letting me to understand how public keys are used in multisig transactions, I was thinking before only signature (private key) counts towards transaction fee charges, I further understood how it is the keys that are aggregated in the upcoming Taproot which reduced the transaction fee. mocacinno, for how nodes can set different days for transactions, while it is 14 days in bitcoin by default while some transactions dropped almost by most full nodes can still get confirmed as it is possible some nodes still have it. The Pharmacist, using many of his posts to realize the need for me to also post the way I think it should be, that is why now I am only recommending Trezor as the best hardware wallet because it is completely open source and many more now that I post the way I think it should be, you people may not understand this, but it actually really helped me. Neuroticfish and hosseinimr93 in transactions. nc50lc, for Electrum wallet used as a cold wallet and signing with watch-only for making transactions. I also appreciate few other members, Heisenberg_Hunter, JayJuanGee, Royse777, vapourminer, ETFbitcoin, hugeblack and some other members for obvious reasons you can see in my merit history. DarkStar_, when I needed loan.

To be sincere, I enjoyed the days I was ranking up, only to become legendary remains, maybe it is going to be boring now, but that does not limit me to sharing useful information and yet gaining from other members. Newbies, do not believe in the saying 'merit system is centralized' on this forum, I knew no one when I joined this forum, your constructive and quality contributions and questions you are asking will help you in ranking up. I did not know pooya87 when he sent me the first merit I received on this forum, neither did I know many people sending me merit, they saw my posts are worth it, and they gave me. Good luck to upcoming members.

6363  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: EverRise - ? on: June 17, 2021, 03:30:52 PM
Sounds like a shitcoin, so probably a scam, but it's impossible to tell since you're too lazy to provide even a link, let alone any kind of useful information about it. I hope the twitbook generation doesn't know how to breed otherwise we're doomed.
I checked coinmarketcap and did not see any coin called EverRise which already indicates the coin is not significant. I checked Coingecko but I saw the coin, the price is $0.00 (it will be very low amount even if compared to one satoshi) while it has no trading liquidity in the last three hours. Maybe it is a new coin, but I have not heard of it before. You are right that it can be a scam coin that might even later be subjected to pump and dump, new coins can be so risky especially in this certain time like this when market is not bullish.

The coin is being traded inactively on PancakeSwap with the last trade more than 20 hours ago.
6364  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger fake device Warning! on: June 17, 2021, 09:52:42 AM
What can be most dangerous is to have a clonned hardware wallet, or the one that has been tamparred with. The one above falls under this category. Entering seed phrase on such fake hardware wallet will surely lead to the attackers to be able to access the seed phrase, even possibly along with the passphrase if included. The question is, how can someone differentiate the origin from the fake? There should be a way. Although, I prefer Trezor which is completely open source, but this data breach can happen to any company that are collecting buyer's data on their database, this should make us careful of the information we are given out.

If Electrum can support more than Bitcoin, it would have been the best approach than given data to the another party, well also a reputed reseller can help, but they can also have a compromised hardware wallet to sell, who knows. Using electrum as a cold storage and having another one as watch-only will not require for any kyc or user's information collection on any database, this has been effective for Bitcoin holding, but users that like to hold other cryptocurrencies  are the ones going for hardware wallet.
6365  Other / Meta / Re: Is The Purpose of The Merit System Defeated? on: June 17, 2021, 08:27:14 AM
Try to be an established member (senior, hero or legendary) before making this kind of post, you will be differently oriented at that time.
I don't think it's a good idea though, it kind of sounds like it invalidates the opinion of the other users below Senior Member like myself. But you are right that they should be familiar with the in and outs of this forum before saying anything.
Full members are established members too already, that does not mean they do not have their own opinion to suggest on this forum, the opinion can even be welcomed, also do not get me wrong, even newbies and any other ranks can suggest their own opinion, if what is suggested is genuine and welcomed, I will not make such comment, but it is not welcomed as established members will see it, and this is common to newbies and junior members and normal member rank to make certain suggestions that won't be welcomed here. So, telling them in such thread to be a somewhat an established member will help them to know more and in which they will have different opinion at the time.

Yes, the links will really help you to understand more about scammers and ways to avoid them. Also, just a point of correction, OP means opening post, your post here is the opening post, not mine.

6368  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to cancel Bitcoin transaction? on: June 17, 2021, 06:47:32 AM
True that unconfirmed transactions are highly risky in crypto trading. Recently I read an article about a dust attack through bitcoin funding. It’s actually a great post that helps to get an idea on how to avoid such unconfirmed transactions.
This discussion thread is totally different from dust attack discussion. This thread is about replace-by-fee and child-pay-for-parent transactions which can be used to unstuck unconfirmed transactions, also addressing the issue of enabling replace-by-fee while making transaction to be able to pump the fee during any stuck transactions. Dust attack transactions can be confirmed, and which is very important for the receiver to use coin control to freeze the dust coins, or using a mixer or CoinJoin wallet like Wasabi to avoid the negative effect of such dust transaction so that the attacker will not be able to trace the next transactions to you after been mixed or coinjoined.

6370  Other / Politics & Society / Re: New Data points to antivaxers getting sick from covid and vaxers not getting sic on: June 16, 2021, 07:29:50 PM
I think the vaccine is proving to be effective if vaccinated patients are far less in the hospitals while non-vaccinated patients are over 95% or more in the hospital according to what I read above. Like me, I am not taking any vaccine, but this is just because no sign of the virus in my state, not even in my neighboring states, this makes me to have the strong opinion that I am not taking the vacinne. But I will not speak against people not to have it no more because I think the positive result of people that take the vaccine are high, only very few are complaning of blood clots and some other adverse effect. Before, the old people are the ones more admitted in the hospitals as they are more susceptible to the virus, but now the young people that are not taking the vacinne are more susceptible to the virus even than the old people, I am not saying someone should take the vaccine, but this points is proving how the vaccine may be very important to reduce the spread.
6371  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Tax Loss Harvesting on: June 16, 2021, 08:35:47 AM
Can someone explain the benefits of tax loss harvesting using this example?
I am not sure of your calculation if correct or not as I did not look into it, what you are implying is that capital loss can be a benefit while gaining back your lost asset. If so, yes, you are right because the whole losses will be gained back before taxes can be paid which will be after net capital gain. But, still, the fact still remain nobody want to lose.
6372  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Safepal,Ledger,Trezor keep a backup of my 24 words and transfer to their server? on: June 16, 2021, 08:06:50 AM
Everything about Trezor is open source, and some companies have been searching for vulnerabilities on the hardware wallet, the one I remembered was that physical attack on Trezor can result to the seed phrase to be known to attackers, but will be as a result of the hardware wallet theft and physical attack on the wallet, and this problem can be solved by protecting Trezor with passphrase and also protecting the hardware wallet from offline attackers (thieves). No evidence proven yet that it can reveal your seed phrase to the server, infact, it is not, and the wallet is completely open source.

About Ledger Nano, it can be operated with open source wallets also like electrum, but only what I do not like about the wallet is the close source microchip used to generate and store seed phrase which is close souce, so if their is vulnerability included into the microchip like that can pre-generate the seed phrase, people will not know, but the company still maintain good reputation till today. But, yet, the microchip help in generating the seed phrase, and also store it. It makes even physical attacks on the seed phrase not to be successful. No evidence of your seed phrase to be exposed to he server too while using it.

About SafePal, I can not recommend such wallet, I am not implying it reveals any seed phrase, but the wallet is completely close source, it can only be used with an app on mobile phone, the app is not even open source (correct me if wrong), so I am not furthering my discussion on SafePal.

Even many reputed wallets which are online like Electrum, Mycelium  and many others are not revealing your seed phrase to the server, so even hardware wallets are more safer in which they store seed phrase in a way it does not even leave the hardware wallet, which makes it difficult for hackers to get through unlike on online wallets. What you should focus on are malwares and protect your device you are using to operate your hardware wallet, especially against QR code malware and also a malware that can change receiver's address into an hackers (attacker) address while sending bitcoin, this even happen without your seed phrase revealed to attackers but can lead to coin lost.

Twitter ban: Nigeria loses N24.72bn in 12 days

Nigeria has lost N24.72bn ($60.14m) in 10 days to the Twitter ban that took effect on June 5. According to NetBlocks Cost of Shutdown Tool, Nigeria loses N102.9m ($250,600) every hour to the ban.

I hope we can see how the government make no research before suspending Twitter in the country, I hope the suspension will be lifted off soon.

Twitter suspension: Lawyer sues Lai Mohammed, Malami as courts resume

A human rights lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has sued the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), and the Federal Government for suspending social media platform, Twitter.

In the originating motion marked FHC/L/CS/542/2021, Effiong is seeking nine reliefs including an order of perpetual injunction restraining the respondents from further suspending, deactivating or banning the operation and accessibility of Twitter or any other social media service in Nigeria.

Effiong asked the court to declare as illegal the threat of criminal prosecution issued by Malami and Mohammed against Nigerians who ‘violate’ the suspension or ban of Twitter, despite the absence of any written law.

Effiong recalled that on June 1, 2021, the President, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), who is a Twitter user, tweeted a series of tweets in a thread in response to the agitations in the South East on his verified Twitter account with the handle @MBuhari with millions of followers.
6376  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anti-Vax Nurse's Attempt To Prove COVID Vaccines Make People Magnetic Backfires on: June 15, 2021, 07:13:26 AM
No real prove of the magnetism theory the nurse was trying to prove, the key sharp can possibly stick to human body on the chest where she placed it, placing it on her neck would have been better, and yet she did but the key kept falling off her neck, while the hairpin or so fell off her neck easily as well. This is obvious she is quite wrong and she is not having any authentic prove yet.
6377  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is there any risk if many receiving addresses are accidentally revealed? on: June 15, 2021, 12:27:25 AM
If the addresses has been used in a transaction before, it will reduce privacy, but that does not mean the security is reduced if you protect the Bitcoin the addresses are controlling very well. If the addresses are not used, and will not be used, no security is affected, also privacy is not affected.

What should not be known to others which can be used to compromised your wallet and steal your bitcoin are seed phrase and passphrase if included, seed, master private key and private keys, which means these sensitive information should not be revealed to others for the safety of your coin. While master public keys should also not be revealed to other for privacy reasons.
