6361  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pablo Escobar and Bitcoin and Satoshi Nakamoto on: June 09, 2020, 04:31:34 AM
From the makers of the Escobar Fold and other phones that never really reached its buyers, I don't think there is any credibility to the recent claims of Escobar Inc. They are trying so hard to be relevant these days even though their deceased kingpin is just a legend and nothing more. They are using the name Escobar to further their ambitions, and it's nothing really amazing or anything, just plainly annoying and outright stupid. Also, how would the Escobar estate know who Satoshi is? Heck, anyone can be Satoshi on their eyes. Remember the poor Dorian Nakamoto who's just enjoying his retirement and suddenly began receiving countless interviews and appointments? Roll Eyes
6362  Economy / Economics / Re: Even More Evidence of Coronavirus as Financial Reset on: June 09, 2020, 02:10:00 AM
The early reports regarding HCQ isn't really well-documented, or those who have received the said treatment are very few for it to be considered on a large scale. Upon further research, testing and monitoring of the said drug on COVID-19 patients, there are those that actually survived, although there are many who experienced side-effects that are then jotted down for republishing purposes. By then, people are just desperate for a cure since vaccines are still a year away, then came the hype re: HCQ by few doctors who claimed its miracles. I might have been swooned by the hype few months back (sometime in March) as well since it's been a while since I encountered the name hydroxychloroquine and just knew that it was an effective anti-malarial agent with dizziness and loss of appetite as its initial side-effects, and thought that it could work potentially as an inhibitor to SARS-CoV-2 once the drug binds to the ACE2 receptors of our cells--which, to its own merit, actually work. I never knew that it has side-effects more haunting than what it was originally advertised for, hence why I hated Trump and myself for claiming it to be the temporary savior while we find a vaccine.

While later studies show that HCQ + azithromycin combo might be deadly on immunocompromised patients, I don't think that it was intentionally done such that it serves as a subtle way of culling the population further. Things like this often happen in the medical world, and that's why confirmatory analysis paired with different independent researches much produce the same results or the study isn't going to be as solid as people think it actually is.

So what will Trump going to do with his 29 million HCQ tablets that he ordered from India? lol

It can be repurposed to treat malaria cases, or can be sold cheap to countries where malarial outbreak still happens so as to recoup some of the money invested on such a stupid move.

This retraction is a massive news, obviously there is a political and business agenda behind this one. There has been no reliable data for HCQ to cure corona virus yet we already seen the demand for it like what the hell?
And Lancet as world's credible medical journal is going to be in a deep freak after this, they might face a sanction for this, and the authors for the HCQ findings will surely be arrested for unethical data gathering.

There are reports from big names although they cannot provide the actual numbers and the hospitals which actually used the treatment successfully. HCQ is effective on other things, but not really COVID-19, which I think is a placebo since most of those patients are already receiving other treatments for pneumonia, which is the virus' deadliest complication on its latter stages.

Also, the Lancet has been in controversies big and small before, so I don't think they don't know how to handle the backlash if there ever is one.
6363  Economy / Economics / Re: Counter-Strike Skin Economy on: June 08, 2020, 08:04:54 PM
I did hold a lot of valuable in-game items in several MMORPGs when I'm still in NA. Nowadays, I fancy CS:GO and Dota 2 item betting since it's really fun and takes your profit up there as there are tons of traders, buyers and sellers literally everywhere. I testify to the appreciation of value of some skins on the market, notoriously the Titan Holo Stickers, Emeralds, Rubies and Blue gems and the recently-released AWP | Gungnir which saw a massive boost in price over time. While there really is money to be made in hoarding valuable skins and selling them for later, I still think it really isn't a robust and bulletproof way to trade your way up to riches. Youtubers are making massive money for it because they are already known, and the issue of trust doesn't apply to them, take for example, Anomaly which is a known cheapskate in the trading business. Next, as you've mentioned, you have to be reliant on Valve for not making some foolish moves else your money will go down the drain. There are tons of trade-banned accounts even though they did not participate in a scam but rather bought scammed items, so there's also that.

tl;dr: CS:GO skin hoarding, trading and selling is good for a profit source but not really recommended as a main investment opportunity due to uncontrollable factors imposed by Valve.
6364  Economy / Economics / Re: What opportunity costs will governments take. on: June 08, 2020, 05:21:37 AM
The Philippines received tons of loans and cash aids from other countries but seem to not invest it in anything substantial as of the moment. Government economists are yet to say their thoughts about it, and with the slow and gradual reopening of the economy, for sure there are industries that will be prioritized and there are some that will be in the waiting list. The way I see it, food manufacturing and supply chains are what the government is taking their attention to as of the moment, while the industry neglected are that of the entertainment sector since they really are not that much of a priority currently, but they do rake in a huge amount of profit for the government. But in all honestly, the administration is really not making a move to help the citizens and businesses to reopen the economy--even at least 50%--since most of their efforts are towards other things (Anti-Terrorism bill is marked as urgent, though it brought about some questions re: bill of rights).

Perhaps it might take a while for the government to know which industries need top priority and which industries can wait a little longer. For the mean time, most nations are unsure as to what to put first aside from their ongoing battle against the pandemic. We haven't seen a problem this large in the modern times that it's really hard to put two and two together without making a mistake.
6365  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is third party Bitcoin services really into Bitcoin for the technology? on: June 07, 2020, 03:41:31 AM
While there may be some that are genuinely interested in developing the tech on bitcoin space, most are still in it just for the profit that they could potentially generate on the bitcoin market by capitalizing on the hype that it brings. After all, they are businesses, and businesses are after one thing and one thing only: profit. For the first part, they will lure people into the idea that they are in it for the development and enrichment of the scene. Afterwards, they will switch from the good guys to the bad guys and start doing what a cultured capitalist will do whenever the time is ripe, which is change terms and lower the services for higher the fee.
6366  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A day to celebrate and pay tribute to casinos? on: June 07, 2020, 01:25:22 AM
I don't really think that that's even necessary. They are really celebrating everyday whenever they are able to empty your pockets and put it into theirs. It's great that they contribute to the economy and help add jobs in the market and all but glorifying them to the point that you want a day in order to celebrate the existence of casinos is a bit over the top iMO. losing on their platform and giving them away is enough appreciation for casinos, I think, and they appreciate that too, for sure! 6367  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: "NEW NORMAL" Betting on: June 05, 2020, 09:27:05 PM
Well, here's to hoping that AstraZeneca develops the vaccine formula just right since they are planning to ship out 2 billion doses worldwide by September: https://bioprocessintl.com/bioprocess-insider/global-markets/az-aims-to-ship-oxfords-covid-vaccine-from-september-using-bardas-1bn/

As for sporting events, most leagues are already planning to return, and while there may not be some audiences on the benches, the sport, action and thrill remains the same IMO. Also, most countries are already easing quarantine restrictions and are gradually reopening their economies. It might be risking yet another spike in the graph but I guess that's far better than having the people starve at all, and people will eventually develop some form of immunity to the virus so there's that. Big leagues will resume and we can finally watch our sport again, and we must be thankful that they brave the uncertain outdoors just to bring us entertainment to alleviate our boredom.
6368  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: ‘Bitcoin and Black America’ Author: Protest by Buying BTC on: June 05, 2020, 09:00:01 PM
Why the sudden connection of bitcoin and racism?
I don't understand.
Is it like a rebellion to their government since they are against bitcoin?

The author seems to be overreacting.
I think he is just using this bad event for his own profit. It's not cool.

It has something to do with unequal rights of the white and the black people in America.

Most black people in there do not receive the same financial privileges that banks offer because of their color. Modern-day racism still happens greatly even in these kinds of services. Now, the author is trying to tell people to support bitcoin and leave the financial system to let them know their losses were far greater than that of the blacks in the future. It might be too stretched of an explanation but that's what the author is trying to say basically.

Oh and yeah, of course, to also promote and sell his book, too.
6369  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bloomberg: “Bitcoin will approach record high of about $20,000 this year” on: June 05, 2020, 07:46:38 PM
Bloomberg screaming $20k is like Tom Lee predicting moon: they both jinx it. They claim these figures as if they have something similar to a crystal ball that could tell the future. With the current situation of the world at hand, I doubt we will be seeing more than $15k tops in 2020. The global economy is recovering, but at a very slow rate, and I don't think a lot of people would actually risk money on volatile assets during these times unless someone actually starts buying huge amounts to effectively move the price upward. Bloomberg is a known bitcoin bull, but this is just too much for 2020, IMO.

As for them stating that "something needs to go really wrong for Bitcoin not to increase value" is overestimating the power of bitcoin's volatility. There are times when there's nothing happening but the price suddenly just drops a significant amount, and there are times when the prices goes insanely high without any catalyst or any sane reason that could explain it.
6370  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Future Prediction Because of Hacking/Scamming on: June 05, 2020, 06:59:59 PM
Those coins that were hacked only comes back to the market in the market after the trail has been washed into different fronts. Over a million coins have been hacked and so far, nothing changes in bitcoin, and if anything it only gets stronger and people are still coming into it albeit the looming dangers of hacking. It also forces platforms to enhance their security to ensure that no hacks would ever happen again in their doorstep, or if there ever is one, the damage would be minimal that their customers and services won't be affected.

Bitcoin hacking problems lie not into bitcoin's own protocol but rather the centralized systems that deal with it. As BrewMaster pointed out, if more decentralized solutions are to be adapted by exchanges and users, perhaps we will soon see a time where hacking becomes a non-problem.
6371  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Vlogs on how to earn in Bitcointalk on: June 05, 2020, 05:59:19 PM
The intention is good, yes, pero outright saying na signature campaigns is something para kumita ng pera might lead to some of our brothers to get the wrong notion at magpost lang ng magpost resulting to many spammers at generalization na naman sa ating mga Pinoy dito sa forum. For one, itong forum na 'to ay mainly for information sharing at hub for communities to prosper, lately na lamang nai-add ang signature campaigns for advertisement and stuff. While hindi naman talaga masama ang pagsali sa signature campaigns (kabilang ako sa isa, at ayokong magpaka-hipokrito), most of the time kasi nagiging half-baked ang posts at merong lack of effort sa paggawa dahil iniisip ng karamihan sa atin ay easy money ito, which is mali. Again don't get me wrong, the intention to spread the word and help out is good, pero ang pagpromote ng signature campaigns as source of income is a no-no. Dapat mayroon muna tayong at least surface-level knowledge about bitcoin and cryptocurrencies before we join a campaign or any other sort of pay-per-post campaigns in and outside of bitcointalk.
6372  Economy / Economics / Re: India's new financial package is a national laughing stock - what do you think? on: June 05, 2020, 05:34:19 PM
Perhaps a last-minute saving-face decision would do the trick, although we know that Modi for the most part have some things in mind other than the welfare of his own people. Reducing the amount of interest from loans ain't gonna cut it knowing that a huge portion of the Indian population is not really receiving any salaries or profits from their business. It might not be as grand as the stimulus package of the US and other domestic aids from other countries but at least try to show the people that you care and you are willing to help--but that's not the case in here, sadly. I applaud the police force of India on imposing the quarantine guidelines and safety measures, but on how the admin is handling economic matters and public welfare, it's a no for me.
6373  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Manny Pacquiao Might Fight Golovkin on: June 05, 2020, 03:48:36 PM
Golovkin can out-punch Manny on the first few rounds, no doubt, but if we are going to talk about stamina, speed and quickness, Manny has the edge and can go toe-to-toe with Golovkin for all 12 rounds. The only thing that Golovkin has to do is to either seriously injure Manny while he still has full stamina and his punches are still strong OR knock him out cold, but the latter is just not going to happen given how defensive Manny has become with his last few fights after Mayweather. Defense-wise, Golovkin can take some heavy punches, but I'm not sure how he's going to survive at 8 rounds or so when he shows some exhaustion and stamina depletion.

I'd bet for Pacquiao in here not because of the record or hype, but seriously, all stats aside, Pacquiao is the better fighter in most aspects.
6374  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 3 seed words + passphrase on: June 05, 2020, 02:47:53 PM
No, i am not suggesting to create your password like this. you can create something like !Went>P@r!$&be$tmem0ryev_r

Something that you can create that reflect to your experience and easy to remember and hard to crack

Ngl. leet speak paired with symbols and everything is actually a good password maker, but humans aren't really good at creating good passwords that are secure enough to keep them safe from hacks. Also, the 12-word seed IMO is easier to keep/hide in plain sight, and more robust and secure rather than a 3-word, 1-phrase combo that you're suggesting of.

Some people keep their 12-word seed in a rather unconventional yet witty way. Let's use these words for example:

Code:
there wake tomorrow carry cold since lose open practice road shame witch

Quote
"There used to be some sort of blabbering around town. Wake, my child, as he often say to his daughter. Tomorrow, we shall feast with the gods! Carry these cloth round town and try to sell them in the market. Cold feet is attributed to being afraid or nervous of the current situation. Since 1971, the gold standard was no longer in effect. Lose something important and you'll never feel the same again. Open-air stadiums are preferable during viral outbreaks. Practice makes perfect, or so they say. Road trips are fun with your friends and family! Shame that I didn't have the last piece of beef. Witch hunting was a popular activity back in the Victorian era.

I for one tried to do this and left the text somewhere inside a book and used it as my bookmark for sometime. It works, it's secure, and no one will ever get interested on it due to its nonsensical phrases and purely unconnected sentences.
6375  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What casinos have forums? on: June 05, 2020, 12:40:25 PM
I don't really dig in to community hubs when it comes to gambling sites, but AFAIK, fortunejack and bitsler has their own, plus PD though I don't quite know whether it's still active to this day. I've only ever looked into trollboxes in gambling casinos whenever I feel like asking something or wanted the moderator to push my queries on their customer support. You might want to mention that into your article since most co-degenerates are also looking out after one another and the topics on different times of the day are crazy.

I recommend you staying an hour or two in nitrogensports and crypto-games trollbox and you'll see a lot of interesting characters stating what they have in their minds.
6376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Patoshi Researcher: 'Satoshi won't use his coins ever’" on: June 05, 2020, 12:15:11 PM
Satoshi might have spent some, because we are just overly-concentrated on the first blocks from 2009 - 2010 and never really bothered about Satoshi's possible involvement up until 2012 when the space literally is booming with life and the bitcoin economy is starting to unfold into a bigger, more vibrant side of things. No one really knew what happened to Satoshi after his last email to Gavin Andresen on April 2011, so the rest of the things about his coins and as to why he disappeared are just guesses and gut feels.

Or he could have died already from something so severe that the only thing he could muster is the last email to Andresen. Given the character portrayed by Satoshi on his forum posts, he's just a man who wanted to take bitcoin for as long as he could and assist the lead developers into making everything work. He guided them for as long as he could, until everyone understood the intricacies, just like a mother bear teaching her sons how to hunt for food. When it occurred to him that everything is already set, he just vanished, *poof* just like what mother bears do in the wild. And perhaps that sudden disappearance, coupled with some messages hinting to his departure, leads down to his own death.
6377  Economy / Economics / Re: Will the current rally in US stock market help it’s economy in the long run?. on: June 04, 2020, 05:11:25 PM
The POTUS is continuously drawing lines on the sand and not addressing the domestic problems his country is facing currently. That's very un-gentlemanly, and un-Presidently if you ask me, but what do you really expect from someone who runs his mouth first before checking at the facts. Stock markets are only one facet of the economy while the rest is mainly from taxes which the working class contributes heavily to, and with some 40 million Americans currently unemployed, how would a bounce back in September be possible? I'm not a pessimist but all points signal south of what Trump likes to make it look like.
6378  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The best device for online gambling. on: June 04, 2020, 03:58:28 PM
I play on an iPad pro (2018) since most online casinos already support mobile browsers on their games. The animations are smooth, more than enough of what you want to ask for dice. Couple it with a strong internet connection and you're all set. The great thing about handhelds/tablets is that you can use it anywhere you like without any hassle. If you want to bust a hundred or two during your break or during a long train ride, you can do it unlike on a desktop/PC wherein you're literally stuck in a single place and can't take the action anywhere you'd like.
6379  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: 24h high - 24h low automatic bitcoin trading? on: June 04, 2020, 02:40:11 PM
Hello everybody,

I was reading through all the automatic crypto trading bots. They have thousands of different strategies and complicated algorithms, but it seems i cant find a simple thing im looking for. I would like a bot doing an automatic buy when the price hits 24h low(or near 24h low) and an automatic sell when the price reaches 24h high(or near 24h high). Imagine the profits which could be made simply following this strategy every day. Could somebody please recommend me a bot like this or how to make a bot like this?

You can't time the markets, so what you want to achieve is basically impossible. How would the bot know that the prices already hit 24-hr high and 24-hr low without having to aggregate the data ahead of time? The best a bot can do is to make some averages on a few hours interval and make the best possible trade from there. What you're wanting is beyond the capabilities of machines. Heck, it even asks space and time to be curved to favor your bot's decisions! Grin

I think there's actually a possibility to do it without having to predict anything.

Take a 24h chart. In the past 24h, say BTC's lowest point was $9,000 and the highest one was $10,000. If BTC hits $8,999.99, the bot would buy while if it hits $10,000.01, it'd sell. In 5 minutes (or whenever the 24h data changes), the figures could change.

There's no need to predict anything. Just take the data from the past 24h and make use of it if I got it right - a quite interesting idea.

Simply no. Bitcoin is not your regular stock that retains most of its trading activity from yesterday to today. It's highly volatile, and if you'll be basing your 24-hr high and low data from yesterday and use it for your exploits today, I don't think you'll make any money in the long run. You may get lucky but still, this is a sure-fire way to lose money, but with few extra steps.
6380  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Home Court advantage = Not an advantage now because of no-live audience? on: June 03, 2020, 10:56:32 PM
It's one missing piece but there area also some factors that add up to what we call "home court advantage."

First off, since players are practicing on these same courts for almost every day, they know so well the optimal position in which they can do their thing. Athletes do have a 'feel' on where they are playing, and it adds up to their optimal performance overall. To put up an example, take some tennis players with preferences to clay, grass, hard or carpet courts. They excel in some courts but not on other ones. It's the same as home court advantage, especially if you already developed that 'feel' on these certain courts.

We have to make do with what we have in order to proceed with sporting events. It was already allowed, and we don't want it to be revoked by forcing ourselves to watch live. It's the different feel and excitement still, especially if you're supporting your favorite teams or athletes on the stadium or at home.
