6361  Other / Meta / Re: Curious boy who want to know about merits on: July 28, 2018, 10:46:40 PM

I`m, afraid, it`s not what in their minds. That would be definitely not in English and you won`t understand a single thought Smiley
And a few words about "pathetic rewards" if I may. $10 is nothing for you, people, but there are places, where you can buy a food for a week for this amount. So don`t be quick to judge this "curious boy". I know that everyone hates sh*tposters and it`s natural. Yes, he is ignoring great opportunities this forum gives to everyone absolutely free. But it`s not the great opportunities you worry about, when you are hungry.
I`m not trying to justify sh*tposters, just offer you another point of view, so please don`t judge me.
P.S. Not a single capital letter in all post, for God`s sake... Would it stand for a new record?

I`ve already offered an alternative, in fact, I`m trying to encourage the guy. Read my quote again.

Besides, with "pathetic rewards" I mean the cents they don`t even receive in all those airdrops and useless ICOs. I understand very well how is living in the third world since I`m in there. But The attitude is everything in life, you just come to a new place and ask for non-deserved rewards, or you can build yourself, your identity and become someone with an opportunity.
6362  Other / Meta / Re: Suggestions: Merit as a form of reward. on: July 28, 2018, 10:41:33 PM
I think making merit as a form of reward much like in bounties can improve the activities of members in the forum. For instance putting up a well detailed topic / post that is provided for that week can make the quality of post in the forum grow, whether it is a topic for trading, investing or even off topics that can pertain to an individuals well being can be good. For me this is to have members a sense of achievement as there are members here who deserve a merit but can never have one, with this deserving members can have a merit for their quality work and information in the forum.

eeeeeehhhhhmmmmmm in fact, merits are a form of "reward" for good posting activity, so, don`t worry, it is already happening.

I have a better idea: let's ban everybody who hasn't received a single Merit yet, despite making hundreds of posts.

Probably the best idea ever.
6363  Other / Meta / Re: Curious boy who want to know about merits on: July 27, 2018, 03:14:41 PM
Well, actually this is quite a bit useful, so now we can see in first hand what`s in the mind of the common shitposter/scammer here in the forum.
So. Commonly, a friend who is on a bounty teach another friend how to come into the forum and look at it as a work from the very beginning. Besides, they are so absolutely mistaken about the site itself that they think they have the right to ask about how to earn more money. So the problem is the information they actually have about the forum, and the perspective they approach with.

Ok, "Curious boy". The forum is not a workplace, even when it can become one, this is not the mean purpose of this site. In order to achieve your goal, meaning, earn more money, you need to become a respectable member first in here. How? Well, by showing some concern about the site you are taking as a workplace. You must know about how and why this place was created, by whom, what are the discussions in here, what`s the goal of the site.
If you are intelligent enough, you will investigate how to become a part, a good user, so ranking-up will be easy for you.
This is not only a bounty space where you can come and post whatever crap you have in your mind. This is a community about Bitcoin, founded by the creator of Bitcoin himself.

As well as you learn to have some respect for that, as long as you will to learn, then you will be different from your friend and his $5 per week and become a learner, an informed guy and, who knows, a Bitcoin or crypto expert.

If you just want your pathetic bounty rewards, that`s on you. You are free to be mediocre. This is a place with a lot of opportunities, you just need to have a brain under your skull and to use your patience in order to become different to the 90% of the people in here and their tiny and pathetic rewards.

6364  Other / Meta / Re: My cMerits project is just finding plagiarists and bounty spammers. on: July 27, 2018, 03:03:36 PM

I've asked for someone to start a thread on the Spanish board, as I don't think I should post in English there.

If you want to look forward into the Spanish board I can always help to translate your own post into Spanish on the FittoTalk project, as well as we can translate any worthy answer from Spanish to English.

Anyway, the Spanish main is being invaded by shitposters too recently, so, even when there are still some decent ones, it is rarer to see each day.

Whatever. Honestly, I think the best way is to maintain the process "organic", if you come to see any decent post in your common activity, then merit it, but to look for good ones looks like a really hard work and also a frustrating task.
6365  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is gambling addiction mainly due to loneliness and dissatisfaction? on: July 26, 2018, 06:31:55 PM
Loneliness and dissatisfaction are only two factors in a very complicated mechanism.

Very accurate. I also have read some studies related to the gambling addiction in which the chemistry in our brains changes. For instance, one can get addicted to the feeling of "satisfaction" due to a winning, and our brain is secreting oxytocin, endorphins, et al.
Also, adrenaline can be really addictive. The adrenaline of a big bet and the time seeing what`s happening can be addictive to a person that doesn`t feel the life fulfilled.
Other people choose extreme sports, parachuting, but this is a kind of "drug addiction" since you get addicted to the "feelings" you have while doing something. Those feelings are produced by the brain, this is just a bunch of chemical substances, hormones and so, making you feel like nothing else`s can.
6366  Other / Meta / Re: bitmover Merit Source Application - and thoughts on Brazilian Bitcoin Community on: July 26, 2018, 04:03:20 PM
If one of the principal ways of encouraging people is to find good users, with impeccable criteria and the will to help others to be an important part of the forum, then Bitmover should absolutely become a merit source.

As an active member of my local (Spanish) I can see how the forum is kind of centralized, and how for those unable to speak English to rank-up is a really difficult task. That`s why I absolutely believe that merit sources should be implemented in local boards, so the forum can become a decentralized place where everyone has the chance of proving his/herself and to rank-up.

If we want good users to be able to rank up and earn a place in here by their contributions, then local merit sources have a great part and are truly necessaries.
So I support this, I hope Bitmover can become a merit source and help to improve the forum and encourage some good members to continue with their amazing work.
6367  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Can the media protect our democracy and freedom? on: July 26, 2018, 03:20:13 PM

Best thing we can do is learn to turn our attention inwards, learn logical fallacies/critical thinking and remind ourselves not to trust everything we read or see.

Sometimes through fallacy, you can "guess" the truth, for it is in the subtext. The most one want `s to hide something, the more you can guess what`s behind.
But, yes, anything we read can be a lie or a partial vision of some truth, so to be careful and to develop a critical mindset is totally necessary in this crazy world!!
6368  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Can the media protect our democracy and freedom? on: July 26, 2018, 03:02:16 PM

Can we trust the news? Can we trust the local media? Well!

No, we can`t. Media has been at the service of the governments for long now. Even "independent" newspapers trend to end at the at the same service when enough money is offered to them.
So, yeah, to find "the truth" (whatever "truth" means) is really difficult.
Do you remember "1984", by Orwell? How the "Ministry of Truth" used to change the news in order to legitimate the current government? Well, that is actually happening.
6369  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Wikipedia suppression of cryptocurrencies on: July 26, 2018, 02:54:19 PM
Hell, if we start allowing random altcoins to have their article, why not get a Wikipedia page for every person in the world who wants one.

Precisely. Try to imagine that I start a T-shirts brand and that I pretend to write about the brand in Wikipedia. How stupid can that sound? Now imagine I want not only my T-shirts brand, by my cakes brand, my whatever brand to have its own article in Wkipedia. It shouldn`t be allowed, because wikipedia is not an announcement portal, but a public-created "encyclopedia".
So no, your ICO shouldn`t be there, as well as my own T-shirt brand, this is not relevant for humanity, this is just a random product.
6370  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Humans keep increasing what will happen? on: July 26, 2018, 02:45:57 PM
Global population is not going down, is stabilizing, but we are too many already.

The issue is that we, as animals, have had unnatural survival behaviour, so the world population grew exponentially from 4 billion in 1974 to 7.5 billion in 2018, almost a duplicated number:

So yes, it is an issue, though. If any other animal had this kind of behaviour, humans will, for sure implement a reproduction control in order to stop the (hypothetical) animal to become a plague.
So, in fact, and given the reproduction behaviour, humankind can be considered as one.

Yes, education can be absolutely something of value in stopping this incredible and crazy increment. But the humans have already altered the earth so much that is starting to be considered at this particular time as a new geological era: Anthropocene.
6371  Other / Meta / Re: BCT have gone a little QUIET. on: July 24, 2018, 02:54:14 PM
If you feel the pain going on bitcoin discussion and altcoin discussion and speculation(altcoins) i can say that it's not quiet as what op thinks. I was comparing beginners and help section is more likely readable and informative rather than threads on bitcoin discussion.

To me, Beginners and Hell (sorry, help) used to be a good place to answers some questions, or even to get others. Now, all seems to be related to Airdrop/Bounties, how to get merits, or how to spam the forum, absurds guides (copied pasted from other`s originals ideas)...

I feel we are losing that board too, for mostly all the post are about something unrelated to its name. In fact, every day I see a lot of announcements: ICOs, Airdrops, etc, something that doesn`t belong to that board, and, still there are. It is as if the beginner's board were being invaded by the Altcoin one.

6372  Other / Politics & Society / Re: To Stop the Cartels, Mexico Strongly Considering the Legalization of ALL Drugs on: July 24, 2018, 02:44:27 PM
That actually a very smart move. By legalizing it all, cartels won't have any sources of income because superprofits would disappear.

Ummm I think the narcos are going to take control of the market anyway, either legal or illegally... In fact, by legalizing drugs, they are giving the cartels the option to "come clear" and to declare and have their money clean almost instantly.

I doubt they will lose any profit, but, how knows? Maybe legalization is the way to the peace in Mexico. And yes, we absolutely need some peace.
6373  Other / Politics & Society / Re: FLAT EARTH? on: July 24, 2018, 02:09:54 PM
I've read some articles and also watched some videos on youtube and FB about this group who advocates that the earth is Flat.  Have you encountered this group and idea?

Yes, this is absurd, as the chemtrails, the reptilians, et al. Just bored people willing to believe in anything but this kind on nonsenses. I think this is the result of the combination between too much Mc´Donals and coke in their diets, as well as an addict mother taking heroin and antidepressives pills while pregnant.

As far as the people are concerned about a flat earth, illuminatis, chemtrails, conspirations, toxic vaccines, aliens... they will be occupied and ignorant, something that is always useful for any government, by the way.
6374  Other / Meta / Re: BCT have gone a little QUIET. on: July 24, 2018, 01:53:45 PM
...

Well, all I can see here in meta are ban appeals, hacked account and merit questions... Succulents debates seem quite off.
I wouldn`t say "quiet", but "boring"
6375  Other / Meta / Re: merit system question on: July 23, 2018, 02:57:45 PM
This is a total off-topic answer and also you are spreading a false rumour.
Theymos just made an exception in an exceptional case, so do not begin to spread false rumours, this is not a gossip TV program.

Sorry for my mistake and I am hoping those rumors will become true Wink

NO, they are not, and also this is not necessary. Theymos is not the responsible for the merit system, on the contrary, it is a non-moderated system and it is fine the way it is.
The topic you posted was a complete and total exception made by him, due to the gravity of the case, but I seriously doubt that he will imply himself in doing that again.

I thought you at least had a clue of how the merit system worked, man!!  Huh
6376  Other / Meta / Re: Images are not showing on: July 23, 2018, 02:51:49 PM
Is anybody else here having troubles in viewing images in a thread? I can't view them now.

Nop, I can`t see any. I`m going to try to post one:

Nop, Nothing is showing. Maybe it is a temporal bug?
Maybe you can change the title into something like "Images bug? No images showing with legendary account"?? Because there is another thread talking about the images, but made by a newbie, as usual. I almost skip this one, for I thought it would be the same.
6377  Other / Meta / Re: merit system question on: July 23, 2018, 02:17:30 PM

Now it has been changed mate, "theymos' has been done one reversal of Merit abuse since it was identified as a clear-cut case. So watch out Merit abusers. Go and hide somewhere Cheesy

This is a total off-topic answer and also you are spreading a false rumour.

6378  Other / Meta / Re: merit system question on: July 23, 2018, 12:27:51 AM
I have been inactive for a few months and after returning, I just have one question. I have read all about this merit system, but how do you tell if the post is deserving merit? all of us have different views on a constructive post? Do those posts have to fulfill a certain points or is it absolutely to personal estimation?

Well, man, this is actually a personal estimation, so I can only give you my own point of view. To me, a thread deserving merits need to be:

- Original, of course. I always check if it is plagiarized before giving any merit.
- Made by a user with a certain kind of activity. I always check the user post history before meriting, because sometimes I`ve discovered that the user is just copy/pasting his/her same thread all over the forum, or that the user is just making bounty reports or begging in previous posts for merits, I don`t know, I just always take a look at the post history, just in case, and to the profile, if the user has a well-deserved negative trust, then I think twice.
- Needs to make sense to me. Even if I do not agree with the post, as well as the user can build a logical speech and be able to make his/her point in a reasonable way.
- Posts that implies a lot of job, even if I`m not particularly interested in the matter, I`m used to rewarding really well-done posts, with tons of effort behind, mostly if the posts are rather informative or interesting.
- Informed replies. If a user is replying and it is clear to me that he/she has a point and that, actually, he/she has read the whole thread, answers included, so he/she is actually giving a well-grounded opinion, and not an opinion based on the OP only or, worst, on the title.
- Good attitude towards the forum, in general. People actually concern about the forum, about how to help, how to improve it, how to join a conversation and make it richest...
- For fun. Sometimes one just merit another because the answer/thread or whatever is insanely funny.
.... that`s all that comes to my mind so far.

Wich kind of users I NEVER merit (and that usually ends on my ignored list):
- Merit seekers. There are a lot, some of them can make a good job hiding their true intentions, but, in general, this kind of user always take another`s one merited idea and try to make a poor copy.
- Merit beggers. Well, obviously I never give merit to someone asking for them.
- Trolls. Some people feel intelligent just by trolling others. I use to ignore them.
- Nonsense or off-topic replies. There are many on the forum, as "Thanks, really informative", or "Well done, sir", or, "Bitcoin changed my life too). I hate this and I ignore them or report them (depends on my mood). And if I see this kind of useless posts in someone`s post history, I don`t merit that guy, ever.
- People complaining. If you are just complaining about a ban, about merits, about ranking, about another user (unless it is something really serious), about whatever...ignored.
- ...etc

Actually, I did make a post some time ago related to your question, you can read it in here, in case you are interested: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3288547.msg34309665#msg34309665
6379  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies read this BEFORE POSTING - for your own good. on: July 23, 2018, 12:10:03 AM
...
In addition, it is important to emphasize the golden rule:
- NEVER PLAGIARIZE. Copy/pasted stuff is sadly common here in the forum and has become the first reason to get banned.
- NEVER COPY/PASTE the same all over the forum.

So keep that in mind: everything you write should be ORIGINAL and it can be posted once (at least you translate it into some other language).
If you copy/paste, no matter if it is your own text or somebody else`s one, probably you will get a permaban.
6380  Other / Meta / Re: Help me about bitcointalk rank on: July 22, 2018, 06:41:01 PM
I have 210 Activity messages, but my rank is Jr.Member. What is the problem?

The problem is that you need to create sophisticated-useful posts outside the Altcoin and the bounty report board. You need to use your brain and to engage into some good discussions, to make a point, to be creative.
You are not going to rank-up by bounties reports.
