I doubt Shiraj will be replaced, he is one of the most successful bowler that India has produced. Only one bad game can't determine the long term benefits of having him. Sheyas Iyer should be removed, he has been a failure until now. Ishan Kishan should replace him and Hardik if he is fit should replace SKY. The rumour that is coming out in the social media is that he might not be fit for the rest of the matches. I didn't say Siraj is failed, but he didn't fulfill the expectations especially after what he did in the Asia cup and in just two matches Shami got the place in top wicket takers of WC while Siraj found nowhere despite playing all the 6 matches. I remember the other day Bangladeshi pacer Taskin Ahmed was speaking in a pre-match conference where he said that Indian's pitches are batting-friendly and there is nothing special for bowlers. I agree that ICC wants sporting wickets so fans enjoy high-scoring matches. An Indian reporter also brought up that topic in a post-match conference after Bangladesh lost the game against the Netherlands.
But after watching the scoreboard between India vs England, I guess there are some pitches where bowlers also get benefited. England struggling at this moment and it seems it will be impossible for them to score 120 runs today.

But their strength truly shone in bowling inning and they bowled out whole team for just 142 scores and securing their today's victory. Bas de Leede was the bowler of Netherlands team, he picked up four wickets and show unbelievable performance for their team.

I have doubts if SA will win today or not, all their high scores came while batting first, they are such a fail in this tourney when chasing as we saw them against the Netherlands.
Currently the South Africa team has a current run rate of 6.28 and Required run rate is 3.85 so I think they are now back from the danger zone they were. Now if they stand on the field only to play defensively then they can easily win the match. In the field currently has a good partnership of Aiden Markram and David Miller so victory here is almost certain. Aiden Markram has already scored 77 runs off 76 balls in today's match, hope he doesn't miss a chance to score a century. The team has about 65 runs left to win. South Africa remain top of the points table in this tournament but would have been leading in the points table if they not lost to the Netherlands. Fifth wicket down for Proteas but they are still in the safe position to win this game. Just 47 needed from 80+ balls and one settled batsmen is in the middle then surely the game is finished now and probably the end of Pakistan's hopes too. I'm reading on Twitter Ashwin will likely be playing vs England, low chances for Shami to be replaced as he performed exceptionally well in the last game, so I guess it'll be Surya who will bite the bullet, although I'd like if he stays, he hasn't been able to prove himself yet and in last game it was unfortunate run out. When players like Klassen, Maxwell are destroying opponents in last overs, it'd better for India team if he can play good as he does in T20s and strengthen the lower middle order. If Ashwin comes in then they have to replace him with a bowler not SKY, if Shami is irreplaceable then it will be time for Siraj to be rested. Initially, interest will drop. It's still happening but if you want to spread the game then it's the only way. Qualifiers are a joke because it's based on ranking. Associate teams need to play against big teams but a regular bilateral tour is tough due to schedule so why not give them a chance to participate in WC? At least allow a minimum of 4-6 team associate teams, even if you are going with the same qualifier rule.
As I said the less interest from the viewers force the entity to keep system like this. I do want to see the growth of many countries in the cricket while imagine India is one of the country cricket is the considered to be a festival even there we can see no support for neutral teams like what we witness in Eng vs NZ opening match the stadium looks completely empty.

It would look bad and at times a waste of resources but in the long run it's good for the overall health of cricket and arguably the only way.
No one will be interested if we had such kind of tournament, that is why the qualifiers are in place and only certain number of teams are selected to play at the big arena. If associate nations wants to be there then they have to make a statement that they can be a capable team by qualifying to this stage. I feel AFG will be the next big team in cricket based on their performances in very short period of time and also they got good set of batting and bowling talents at young age group so in the next 4 years they will be sure enough for big competitions. |
