what is so great about this coin?

As an early adopter of this coin I could also answer this question, but http://sterlingcoin.org.uk/ has the tech specs, coin specs and real world use information you are looking for to make up your mind.

Yes this is yet another shitcoin Wink

Happy milestone everyone!

We were also thinking of adding a merchandise section to the website. Mugs (Cups), mousemats, pens, lighters, t-shirts and Sterlingcoin cryptocurrency cards etc.

That is a nice idea!
644  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sterlingcoin - Current Version 1.4 | ~2% of PoW/PoS Phase Remains on: January 03, 2015, 12:16:01 PM
Guldencoin have been doing well and they shuld have a bigger marketcap than SLG. But they have been dumped on heavily. To many coins and multipool are pressuring the value of guldencoin. SLG are going PoS today, so no more dumping. So with that in mind they should have almost the same marketcap.

If you can look past minor obstacles that are being worked on you will see a gem like Sterlingcoin. How far off are we with the blocks (on tablet so can't check blocks), must be close now!

Also @Rols, let's not further clog this thread about SLG with opinions on other coins, I know I've replied to you a few times because I don't agree, but if we were to continue a discussion it'd be better through PM or other medium, wouldn't you agree? Smiley SLG has better things to 'worry' about.

Cheers

That's right, in less than 24 hours from now the PoW period of Sterlingcoin comes to an end and at that point normal mining ceases and the only way to attain further SLG is to either buy, trade or earn interest on your holdings.

Whoo-hoo!

Seems like we are hot on Bytecents heels Cheesy

Bytecent is a scam coin so dont compare with them. I hope this year will be a good year for SLG.

Not sure what you base that on, I can asure you BYC's legit. Sterlingcoin doing well though, good to see some rise in price, hashes etc. Hope to see more faces stop by to help everything move forward.

I think Guldencoin is the best to compare with.

Guldencoin easily one of the best currencies out there. Compared to NLG, SLG still has quite a road ahead in terms of adoption, merchants etc. But it's doing well nonetheless. If SLG can keep adding merchants on the regular and come up with proper services that will better SLG and crypto. It will also be one of the best currencies around. Based on use and adoption, making SLG a part of the very few altcoins that will survive a crypto-crash that will surely happen in the near future.

Spot on I'd say. Also, LTEX, I like the ambition and the goal. I will assist trying to get this to the press once you are ready for it, but let someone check the website first for rewriting some of the content. Needs some twists and spell checks here and there. But it is a very cool project.

I am curious though, is the app fully approved for iOS yet? You can send the answer through PM if you don't want to share that info publicly yet. Secret's safe with me.

Cheers!

2.093607305936073% of PoW remains.

Basically 2.75 days left approx.

2750 Blocks to go.

Time to mine, stake, invest and hold.

Now that D-day approaches, people are noticing sterling, now let's see what 2015 has in store for us.

Yep, curious times.
649  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sterlingcoin - Current Version 1.4 | Online Wallets | Merchants | Services on: December 31, 2014, 04:13:31 PM
PoS blocks are pretty hard to predict, they are not constant like PoW blocks I believe (could be wrong), but on average the combi of PoW plus PoS gives SLG about 1100 blocks per day. So by Sunday SLG will most likely go full PoS unless a lot of people stop staking for a few days, which will slow it down a day or so. Does not really matter. Next week we will be full PoS.

I am out for drinks and food now, have a happy new year and stay safe! Peace.

I would snap up at least .3 to .5 BTC worth extra of this coin now. Amazing how weird crypto can be trading-wise. People are pretty stuck in their ways around here on Bitcointalk (not you guys in this board in particular, just in general). It is a reverse world. People distrust honesty and hype over failure and scam. Spencer, Matt and Steve have been very dedicated, open, fixing every issue, improving everything, handling everyone's questions. A good stable network, merchants, services – why not invest, what is holding people back to be honest? I'm not sure.

I've got some money into this to the very least, especially at these prices Grin

I don't think we should tamper with block times, unless we really absolutely entirely have no other choice. We're talking about retargeting, an algorithm can be developed for that. If Digishield modded can give us that breathing room to perfect the NLG-algo. Let's do it.

Scrypt doesn't have anything to do with the problems, it was KGW and now DGW3 - we done fucked up, but we can fix it. Remember that part. We can fix it and are fixing it together. But also remember. If a modded Digishield does not fix the issue at hand (and this is an if, don't attack me with false claims that I'm against it, I'm simply lowering expectations). We have no right to complain about it afterwards. We will just have to strap tight and wait for the proper algorithm to be developed, tested, tweaked and implemented.

Just to let everyone know that I am also voting for a modified Digishield tomorrow. Get it done and if that works, we're sound for the time being. Gives us all room to breathe and continue to enhance and advance with Guldencoin.

Also, changing Scrypt is stupid. That is not even the issue here. Miners are very important, but it has to be fair to all miners. That's what we are trying to fix here. Also, BioMike is working on creating an easy miner that makes CPU mining very easy. So you have best of both worlds - https://forum.guldencoin.com/index.php?topic=656.0

I suggest we test fuse's digishield with the simulator as well before putting it to a vote. More results to make up our minds.

I'd love to see the simulator results as well, but like /GJ said himself, there is still work to be done to properly test large wave simulations, and of course there's the matter of porting DIGI.  I'm all for testing with the simulator if those features can be implemented in a timely fashion.  Whether that's with outside, paid help, or through /GJ, paid via dev premine, or unpaid... I don't care.  Let's just get roadmap, action plan, whatever figured out and in the works.

-Fuse

Yeah. In the meanwhile we can approach Golang developers anyway. It's handy to have one or two that we can call in anyway. Can you give me assistence with this Fuse? Send me a list of requirements/ code that the Golang devs needs to implement and where? Preferably via PM so I can type up a job-post on several freelance boards.

Thanks.

And to calm everyone down. Please take a moment to breathe, testing thoroughly is very very important. Don't rush to pushing for DIGI just because it seems the right thing to do. We need to know it is the best play, based on maths and not an educated guess on tests on the testnet. Sure. It goes a long way and a lot better than no testing at all. But having multiple numbers and tests just gives everyone more bang for their buck.

Not to worry. Buerra's pushing things now. LOL MONEY MONEY LOL

So it would be beneficial to make a working DIGI-plugin for GJ's simulator and get accurate results and tweak it to perfection. We can look for GO devs to do it for you Fuse, because it would be handy having one or two extra set of hands with this specialty code anyway.

We could probably get some devmine to pay a dev for the work. Either straight converted into USD or EUR or if the dev wants a stake in NLG that is obviously better.

I know a few places we can post a job with general info and pick a freelancer. I agree that we should know what algo GJ is working on getting functional in the simulator so we don't waste resources. That way we could efficiently move forward and test multiple algo's and choose and tweak the right one. So details on what is being worked on instead of in-depth details or deadlines would be much appreciated. That way we don't trip over each other's feet.

@Fuse do you have good test results for DIGI if so, how good are they? Will the change most definitely make mining fairer to all? So fast and precise retargeting without a window for any swings worth jumping on?

If so, do you have reports for these results? I take your word for it that you think DIGI is the best option, but the simulator was made because of its direct and precise measurements. I want to see a solution as well, but one based on hardcore maths and stats. Not because something was tested and worked okay. Are you 150% sure DIGI will work perfectly and why? Did you make changes so it would suit NLG or is it standard DIGI?

I am not dissing your claims here, but just want to know the numbers and how effective it is to cure our mining. Multi's will not stop mining NLG and we don't want them to, what we want is fair distribution and for everyone to be able to mine and use NLG normally. Can we do that with DIGI or would we need another change in 6-12 months?

Sorry if you explained this all already, but I do not recall reading it.

Cheers!

That's my reaction now a days.
HODL!

Haha you always make me laugh, this is funny.
658  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] ------ARCHcoin [ARCH] – The ARCH Network - NEWS------ on: December 23, 2014, 11:14:37 PM
I've read up on ARCH otherwise I wouldn't invest in it, I'm just saying that I couldn't find another place to discuss ARCH other then this topic. I don't have enough money to buy 8000 ARCH unfortunately and of course I know that BCT sucks donkeyballs Wink.

All the best Edgar, I might throw a tweet your way every now and again with a question instead. Leave this topic just for ann's and links to ARCH-stuff.

Peace.

I wonder what's going on over here Smiley
Nothing! Coin is dead! Grin

I was thinking the same. Fuck this coin.
