Gambling addiction are of different levels I guess  And this one that I just witnessed is likely the most cruel one. I have seen gamblers who are addicted to gambling fighting for their lives to stop or reduce their gambling activities but they can't, obviously they are addicted to gambling and struggling with it. But for the first time I happened to see someone who is a gambler and he was harmed because of gambling severally, fully in financial distress but instead of him to calm down and try to avoid what's harming him so badly, even after losing everything, he is still so desperate to continue. The way I am looking at him, he is behaving unstable, as if he is now mentally derailed, he can communicate but gambling is the next thing he want to do, this have cost him is home, business and family. Where I am confused is that why won't he stopped already? A friend, (doesn't stay close to me) called me up on the phone this morning, I was surprised to see his call since it's been a while we Last spoke to each other, and talking to him again on the phone was the last thing on my mind, and Answered the call and we greeted as usual.
He went on to ask me for financial assistance, that he is totally broke and have asked all his friends who are close by, and non of them agreed they have enough so as to lend him some money, he went on to tell me that I am his last hope, that he wouldn't have bothered me if he had anyone else to call or turn to.
I asked him what happened? What the sudden need for financial assistance? He tried lying (I noticed from his turn) but later, he opened tell me that he had some funds on him which could possibly have sustained him until this month ending to get his salary, but he didn't know what came over him, he went to a casino last night and in the process of trying out one and two games, he gambled and lost every single penny on him, and now, he has nothing to fall back on for the few days remaining before he gets his salary for the month of March.
Long story short, I wasn't going to help him, most especially for the fact his a single guy, but out of pity, I later lended him $20.
But then, this got me wondering why a full grown person will gamble until he or she has no money left in his or her bank account, and no cash at hand, I personally have on several occasions gambled away every single cash I had at hand, but I always had some money in the bank to fall back on, together with my family.
I am just wondering if anyone here have ever been in a similar situation before? That is, gambling until you are completely broke with nothing to fall back on?

When we make a bet and put our money on the line, we may lose money, time, and even some daily tasks that we neglect, and the first goal remains to make a quick profit with the largest possible amount of money, but I do not know why some people consider bets to be more for fun and a way to spend time than to win money.

The rising price of cooking Gas in Nigeria has affected Nigerians Even as many Nigeria homes are now resulting in alternative fuel source. FG have taken various steps to reduce the high cost of cooking gas in Nigeria, it is also important to Note that since cooking gas is imported using The United States Dollars,Same will continue to increase if the Nigeria Naira continue to devalue.
I'm not sure cooking gas is imported, we have natural gas in Nigeria and we have LNNG in bonny Rivers state that processes gas for local use and export some. Most of the power plants in Nigeria are gas turbines and are basically extracted locally. I believe the rising cost of cooking gas is as result increase in transportation, especially from dealers to suppliers and is basically caused by fuel subsidy removal. How the government intend to fight the rising cost is what i cannot phantom, because will they be fighting the cost of transportation and the multiplier effect of inflation that has affected those of them that are into the business. |

It is part of every sport where a team loses and a team wins the match. A team is happy and a team is sad, not only in cricket but in other sports too like basketball, volleyball and the last best sport Football.
Also, a match isn't considered a loss but if that match is a final, semi final or such a big match for example between two rivalry teams then it will be like this, but at the same time for us, even if the match isn't important in the context of the series but we place the bet and lose it, it's our lost booked and there are no second thoughts about it.

We all know that Tottenham at the start of the season played very well so they were at the top of the standings for some time, sometimes it's like that when a team plays well at the start of the season towards the end of the season they usually play badly and lack consistency which is the case with Tottenham now and also Arsenal last season where they were at the top of the standings for a long time but towards the end of the season they played less well so Manchester City became EPL champions last season.
Tottenham played very well in the early matches of the season with an unbeaten streak, but gradually, with the force depth not strong enough to maintain their form, they fell behind. Tottenham's decline is partly due to Kean's departure, and the overreliance on James Maddison in his playing style makes it very easy for Tottenham to be caught. Now, only Arsenal has enough strength to threaten Mancity's championship, with Tottenham maintaining a top 4 position which has been a success for them this season. If only Tottenham still had Harry Kean who usually score 25 goals and above it would have been a spectacular season for them. Tottenham have shown strength at some point but it is not enough. Their fans are definitely feeling the absence of their club legend. Yes Arsenal are showing good sign that they have improved from their last season disappointment, when they narrowly lost the league to Manchester City. But this time around they are not just battling with Manchester City alone but with another familiar team which is Liverpool. Arsenal has to show how determined they are when they play city in two weeks time. I completely agree with you, arsenal to a large extent have learnt their lesson, and they are taking one game at a time, so they don't miss out on the league title again. Liverpool and Manchester City will definitely give them a run for their money, especially Liverpool as they are in the same points 64-64, just that arsenal are topping the League with some goals difference which for me is not a enough as a single match they draw could uptown the entire tables against them. So Mikel Arteta should try and come up with tactics that will definitely keep them on top, however they've not been doing bad with their last few games. |
