641  Other / Off-topic / Re: The use of mobile phones and a computer for forum discussions. on: February 09, 2024, 09:08:45 PM
If you can afford both phone and laptop is okay so that if you are not in your home you can make use of your phone to log in to the forum then you can use your laptop while at home. Using the laptop more oftenly is preferable because the LCD screen is less hash to the eyes whereas when using phones the light from the screen can really affect one's sight and vision though to me using the phone is more preferable as not every one can handle the keyboard of a computer very fast as compared when handling with mobile devices.
642  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Waste of resources at parents disrupting their children dreams for self interest on: February 09, 2024, 07:48:48 PM
A girl I know who is just 18 years old has an inborn skills of fashion and designing such as Hairstylist and the Dressmaking. This has been her dreams to make it a reality but her parents are ignorantly trying to stop her from achieving this dream instead they wants her to go to the university and acquires degree.

Is really so bad how some parents tries to detect or hinder their children from doing what they know best to do. Going to the university to acquire a degree is very important but it is also advisable to learn a skill before gaining admission in the university as sometimes our skills also helps us at some point when we are financially down and also to be independent while in the university as not in every cases that you would require to call your parents to ask them of money because you would be using your skills to earn some money over there.
643  Local / Politics and society (Naija) / The need to acquire an asset now on: February 09, 2024, 07:20:03 PM
Many people wishes to get an asset when they start making it in life but as soon as such opportunity comes up they begin to live frivolous lifestyle and saying that they are still young as they can still meet up their target anytime without knowing that time flies and an opportunity that one may miss in life can take longer time to get again.

It is very good for us to know that the clock is ticking and as it's ticking that's how we are ageing as well, we should make judicious use of any opportunity we have to acquire an asset that would stand for a long time and even help us achieve our dreams, don't feel that you are too young for anything as we are in a digitized world now as everything is going digital that how things are changing so we may not really achieve things on a platter of Gold as you previously did, so it is important we plan now that we are sound and healthy and have no much responsibility yet rather than waiting at a time that every thing would become compounded such that we may not even have time for ourselves anymore.

The time is now to start thinking about the future and stop living extravagant lifestyles trying to impress people who wouldn't even know how you are doing when you peradventurely fall.
644  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: February 09, 2024, 05:45:43 PM
Get the context. The point is not about being the best investment because of price movement or ROI, the point is being the best investment in a particular sector because the HODLer is assured that the investment will continue to exist for decades.

I understand your thought and what you really mean, but I was just trying to be specific on the importance of Bitcoin over the other forms of investment. You know each time I hear people speak of Bitcoin, it sparks up my minds and want to talk and emphasis on it, for people to know the importance of Bitcoin. because I just feel like any discussion without Bitcoin is like I am not adding something to my Brian or not reminding my self of what I have chose over other investment. Not that I don't know that you just listed the other forms of investment but I was just trying to still let you know how important Bitcoin  investment is still important than the other investment.

If you truly want to emphasize the real importance of Bitcoin, then you should avoid talking about it "as an investment " or something that's a possible source of enrichment. Research, read, learn, and feed your brain more about the technical details about Bitcoin. From that, I'm very confident that you will truly learn why it's the break-through/revolutionary leap of the century for distributed systems.

Satoshi Nakamoto should win a Noble Prize for Economics and a Turing Award for inventing Bitcoin.

You are right because the real reasons why Bitcoin was invented isn't only to stand as an investment strategy but rather to stand as a decentralized medium of performing transactions from person to person (p2p) directly without involvement of a centralized authority and also to replace the use of fiat so by accumulating bitcoin in other to make profits in the future, we are also acquiring it to stand as a medium of exchange from one person to another.

Most people always think that bitcoin investment is all about hodling a certain amount of Bitcoins and when the price skyrockets they sell and wait for a dip in other for them to acquire again but Bitcoin investment isn't just an avenue to enrich oneself based on the profits that is intended to get from it but rather to also buy and hodl it and accumulate as many as we can afford so that when it's adoption is finally met we can have enough to use for transactions but a situation whereby we keep buying and selling Bitcoin then it doesn't really make much sense because the value might reduce since people are taking it as a medium of trading rather than investment.

It's obvious that Satoshi Nakamoto deserves more than a noble prize for this modern day digital technology that he/they have put in place in other to proffer solutions to human monetary challenges, even since it's invention some people and countries have been making wave for it's adoption little by little but I believe in due time it would be made official as our digital asset and currency which we all are anticipating for.
645  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Am I actually doing it right? on: February 09, 2024, 10:30:36 AM
Just keep being positive in the forum, avoid breaking any rules and spend most of your time learning from experienced an knowledgeable users here, so far as you make quality posts no matter how long it takes it is going to be Merited one day what matters most is your ability to be active in the forum rather than looking for and easy way to rank up. Ranking up isn't an issue but what contributions are you making towards the betterment of the forum? so make good and quality posts also be informative like relate information you know can be of help to the forum besides we'll are newbies and since we are new to this platform we ought to learn more than we make replies as with time we will get used to the forum and of which achieve our various ranks accordingly.

Never send a PM to any high rank members here as doing so might lead you to making some mistakes that might cause you your account being damaged because not every high rank member would take it lightly as soon can even give you negative trust or neutral tag so if you wish to stay longer in the forum, never think of sending a PM about merits to anyone.
646  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Be the Person [poster] You Should Be on: February 08, 2024, 10:31:25 PM
Utilize the search feature on each board to make it easier for us to find what we want. All of us here, from the OP to anyone reading this, want to be good posters with good skills without ignoring things that have a bad impact on us.
I've found many cases of new users like the ones I mean since I've been active. Those of us here have probably discovered it ourselves.
Hopefully it won't happen to us again. Of course, this is not advice or a lecture like in church.

Actually, advising newbies to make use of search features isn't bad but is it all that are aware of how the search option works and it isn't every information they need that can be gotten from searching but rather members of the forum can also offer some help to them I believe that's why this session was made available so that beginners can get any form of help they need here even though the rules, regulations and threads about what they seek to know are already available but it's good to help them whenever they need help rather than scode them because if we don't guide them on how to go then we are not planning to grow here because we grow by lifting others and guilding them till they are conversant and able to also teach other people so don't be tired of assisting newbies here no matter how many times you've answered their questions over and over again.

Before someone can become a good poster, it requires being a good reader and able to understand what a topic being created is all about and giving good ideas and opinion to people who are also willing and ready to learn from you as well.
647  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why Herbalists Live Longer than Christains on: February 08, 2024, 10:16:32 PM
I don't believe that herbalists live longer than Christians as long life is divine and by grace regardless of if you are following up natural phenomenon or not, though herbalists tends to follow natural way of life by eating much of natural foods and drinks rather than processed foods but I don't think is enough to say they live longer than Christians because Christians as well believes in the capacity and use of herbs too and both those that depend on herbs and those that doesn't depend on herbs tends to also live longer so I totally don't believe that impression that herbalists live longer than Christians.
648  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you spend a lot of time on screen? on: February 08, 2024, 09:58:00 PM
In this world and age, financial freedom comes with a price of diligence and hardwork.

Many neglect their health because they are busy especially on screen doing their best to reach the top of their game.

Working full time on screens can lead to eye strain, poor posture, digital fatigue, and sleep disruption.

Manage it by taking regular breaks, adjusting ergonomics, using blue light filters, staying active, setting boundaries, practicing mindfulness, and staying hydrated. Balancing screen time with self-care is crucial for overall well-being.

We are in a modern world now and technology seems to have taken over as most people around the world stay glued to either their mobile phones and computers and other medium of accessing the Internet in other to gain information that would be helpful to mankind and since we are in a modern world now everything is going digital as we no longer have to be physical with everything we need as some things can just be done on the Internet without stress.

Statistics has shown that lots of people all over the world spent most of their time staying active with their phones and computers and this habit seems to be endangering our vision because the ray of light from our systems and computers tend to flash directly on our eyes thereby affecting the optical len but since we cant stop the habit of always looking at our devices all the time, it is advisable to either use glasses whenever we are staying for so long on the internet or rather go for an eye check from time to time to check our visibility and also if our lenses have been affected.
649  Other / Off-topic / Re: Money vs Education on: February 08, 2024, 09:48:27 PM
If you ain't educated how will you be able to make money? Like what kind of business would you venture in that wouldn't involve you having conversations with your customers, education is very vital in the life of every individual and as life goes on we keep learning new things every day so if someone doesn't attain education it would be difficult to communicate with other people on ways you can make money or things you would be involved in other to make money.

Money is good though but it is important to have knowledge before making that money otherwise you may not be able to use that money very well but when you are educated it makes you to be open on ideas and things that will enable you to make more money.
650  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Blue card to be introduced in football. on: February 08, 2024, 09:00:58 PM
I don’t like the idea, I think it’s stupid. They should just leave the game as it is, we don’t need anything like this coming in.

Hopefully it doesn’t gather much backing and gets thrown out before they try to implement it into elite level mens football.

Sure, for now football rules  should remain the way it is now as any further intentions on putting new rules or inventing new pattern in football may jeopardize the setting of the game and moreover, just like the introduction of VAR has been helpful to some extent and there are also times when it doesn't give a clear judgement thereby causing controversy in some matches but nevertheless, football rules are better left the way it is for now.

Though the idea would seem to be good as rather than sending a player off throughout the whole match he would be brought back after the tension have been eased, it sounds interesting though but let it remain as it has been.
651  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Africa Football Discussion || Current Topic: AFCON 2023 on: February 07, 2024, 09:18:31 PM
Nigeria used experience to contain a very good south Africa  team. What a game although I played Nigeria on my bet to win but it ended up on penalties. Poor display from Nigeria midfield, Alex iwobi was completely out of the game, but victor osimhen continue to show class. Nigeria have a chance on winning the AFCON because of the quality they have, they should step up their game in the finals.

This is the very first time I have devoted my time to watch the super eagles play and I must say that I am delighted and Nigeria is blessed with young talented players even though the South Africans played more better but the Nigeria side also deserves some praises because it's not easy to conquer all the African teams they played with and qualify for the finals and with the confidence that the eagles showed in this match even after a controversial VAR decision almost ruined their chances but yet they went ahead and won the South Africans on penalties but they should do more better in the finals so that they can lift the trophy. I commend the super eagles goal keeper for his commitment to ensure that he made some saves right from when the match began till during the penalties he really did well for Nigerians.
652  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Financial advise from a self acclaimed crypto investment professional. on: February 07, 2024, 01:04:08 PM
Indeed very funny as even a blind man can tell he isn't serious at all and maybe just seeking for attention to why he said such and possibly refer interested ones to the cryptos he actually thought can be more profitable than the top 100 of which no one can fall to such trap even someone that doesn't have anything to do with his money would rather prefer to give it out to charity rather than listening to this  fabricated lies.
653  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling are mainly for rich and lucky mind. on: February 07, 2024, 12:36:01 PM
It is obvious that no good thing that come easy and when you are not lucky in gambling you are not lucky and a lucky person in everything he tries might still be a lucky person on gambling because i dont see what you know you do consistently and is not favourable to you yet you are still in it, that is stupidity to a reasonable man and even if your taking it to be for funs but definitely you are spending carelessly on it and truly the mindset of a gambler is to get not to loose and on a casino game a real gambler must wisely have a plan and adhere on rules to actualize it target and rich gamblers stake high in a low game which is possible to win but does not get addicted  because he analyse and strategize before staking so if it is not favourable to you does not mean is not favourable to some lucky persons and these are the mindset of rich person(mind)not of the poor person (mind).

Just like your heading, the rich seems to be more comfortable with gambling because they're also made and doesn't care if they win or lose so if they win they see it as added advantage and if they lose as well they move on and feel free unlike a poor man or someone who is struggling to make ends meet playing gambling as all his interests would be focused on winning because he needed it to sort out some things he needed in life so in a situation whereas he plays and doesn't win he tends to become angry and frustrated, so on a very serious note to me gambling is for people who are made not the ones trying to survive because they can run into depression and confusion when they play and doesn't win.
654  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Selling a property to play gamble on: February 07, 2024, 12:26:47 PM
~snip~

Sometimes I do wonder if some humans actually have conscience at all like why would someone sell an asset just because of gambling, an asset that is very expensive and can take you so many years to recover even if at all you can be able to recover it because most gamblers as soon as they sell an asset in other to play gamble maybe they succeed in the process they now form it as a habit of always selling their assets to play gamble forgetting to know that they can't be lucky all the time.

It's really so bad with the length in which some gamblers go just to raise money to play gamble that is a game of chance, and the chances of even losing is greater than that of winning. Damn, some individuals are fucking mad I swear because no individual with the right sense of belonging would go extra mile as selling an asset to gamble unless the person is having some brain malfunction.
655  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: February 06, 2024, 09:28:19 PM
People with misunderstanding, these are different things altogether, the difference is like indulging in an activity that does not guarantee a 100% assurance of making money through it, though I see people that trade as though they are into it to make fast money, to me there is no short cut in bitcoin investment profit, most times when you think that you want to outsmart the market, you will end up being outshined by what ever tricks you use, bitcoin investment is meant for people with the spirit of perseverance and patience that's why hodling was introduced, why bitcoin has not collapse is because of the holding system, the premature sellers were bridged with this process, the future and continues existence of bitcoin depends on the hodlers that's why hodling will never go into extinction, people with long term holding mindset always smile whenever the time is ripped.

You see, no investment is 100% guaranteed be it a trader or a hodler as all are very risky and due to some unforseen circumstances that may actually affect ones investments make some people to only be interested in trading rather than investing and you can't actually blame them at all. If not that Bitcoin has a higher level of volatility do you think it would have gotten this far? Inasmuch as investment in concerned, every investor is actually interested in a coin that it's future is certain that's why a lot of the investors are involved in Bitcoin. Moreover, you need to understand that despite the popularity of Bitcoin, it's still very much young looking at when it was invented till now so it's gonna take few more years before it's authenticity can be visible for all to see though it takes patience for an investor to make profitable and long lasting investments.

Let the truth be told most people are just interested in short term profits because they're always afraid of the fluctuations in the price of Bitcoin in the market hence they always panic whenever they buy at a dip and instead of the price rising it still dips further but they fail to understand that every dip gives and opportunity to accumulate more and hold for long term profits.
If someone is afraid of the dip, how will you see profitability in bitcoin. If you have been in the crypto for long, you will understand that dip is one of the most interesting time in the market. Dip gives you the opportunity to gather more and position yourself. Yes I know everyone loves to see the green candles, than the red candles, the beauty of the market as an investor is when you see the dip as an opportunity instead of seeing the fear that others are seeing. Remember if you don't buy the dip you can't sell the top. Those who are scared of the dip are newbies. Without dip there won't be much profitability in bitcoin investment.

It's obvious you are emphasizing too much on waiting for a dip before starting to accumulate but I put it to you that if you have that mindset of always waiting for a dip then you might keep waiting and may end up not accumulating again because you will feel that the price has gotten to a level where you can't afford it and you will still be feeling that you might buy and afterwards it starts dipping so in a nutshell, there is no perfect time to wait for a dip before starting to acquire bitcoins and people who actually expect a dip before they can start buying are the short term investors that all they want is to buy at a dip price and immediately the price increases they sell off their coin. These set of investors are more or less impatient and interested in short term profits rather than making long term investments that would be more profitable and risk free and gives more comfortability to ones assets.
656  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can you make gambling a profession - a full time job on: February 06, 2024, 09:02:23 PM
~snip~
But, in a broader sense, can you make gambling a career path, abandoning all other sources of income to focus entirely on it?
If so, why?
If not, please advise!

I don't see any reason or whatsoever that will make someone to choose gambling as a career like is such person insane or wants to have mental disorders? Like no matter how much you win in gambling, it isn't enough to discard other ways of earning an income and become dependent on gambling, a game of uncertainty? Like you win now the next minute you lose and you want to choose it as a career? Hell no, gambling should be played with carefulness and no matter how successful you've become in gambling, it isn't a prerequisite to guarantee you  a successful career in it.
657  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Is there any fun in losing while gambling on: February 06, 2024, 08:52:10 PM
Over the time, I’ve seen several post, by users here who, claim that gambling is strictly for fun, even when one is making losses and I’ve paused to ask this question “Is there actually any fun in gambling especially when the losses are more than the winnings?”
Let’s be frank, there are several other things one can do for fun aside gambling and I understand that life it’s own is a risk but seeing claims that people see gambling as fun even when making losses is weird and I think it’s worth discussion as to know if truly people gamble strictly for fun without minding if they’re losing or winning

Gambling for fun as gamblers are mostly advised is just so that they wouldn't be so emotional in a case of losses because if gambling isn't played without emotions being involved then a lot of gamblers might run into mental health like their reasoning sometimes might be abstract from how others do as a result of thinking too deep because of a loss. No one is happy losing funds in gambling and call it fun so the fun there is actually referring to not being too attracted to gambling and peradventure becomes an addict.
658  Economy / Economics / Re: Financial education and why it should be a priority. on: February 06, 2024, 05:27:10 PM
Financial education is a skill that is not been taught in schools, but to me it's the most important subject a man must learn in other to be financially independent.
This knowledge gives you smart money making decisions, and it improves your standards of living, It gives you priceless money management skill, you can't spend more than what you earn as a financial literate.
I still don't know why it's not been taught in schools up till now.
The  rich dad poor dad by Robert kiyosaki explain all what it entails and the stability it gives financially.

Normally, almost every activity of human existence requires finance hence it is important for everyone to be used to some financial systems that would broaden ones knowledge about some business approach one can apply in other to be successful in any business they wish to venture in so financial education plays a vital role in the life of any individual that wants to be financially stable in life.
659  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Just HODL on: February 06, 2024, 05:13:31 PM
Trading is not a good choice for beginners but sadly, many do this believing that they can make it right but the results are disappointing.
Just hope that the next generation will have the time to analyze their position and be able to see their capabilities because it is hard to assume that we can make a good profit if we lack of knowledge and surely it ends up losing.

In fact, many old traders quit trading and are now becoming investors and holders because they know and based on their experience it was the best option to take.

Trading isn't that bad though but it isn't advisable because as a beginner that isn't too conversant with how trading works and to be observing some signs and signals before trading gives so much stress and calculations and one can get into too many losses in the process so buying and hodling is always the best as one just needs to invest your money on Bitcoin, use the DCA to buy more Bitcoin from time to time then just sit and watch your investment grow.
660  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Tips to Avoid Scams on Cryptocurrency p2p Exchanges on: February 06, 2024, 04:52:27 PM
Brother thanks for this piece of information, expecially to our newbies, because 2 weeks ago I also had an encounter with one of this scammers on binance p2p, because I usually bought 30k naira amount of usdt, which I do regularly monthly since i save in dollar.

After I made payment, this guy refuses to release the asset to me, after I have even send him the confirmation receipt from my opay account, what I did was to appeal to the binance customer support and my receipt as evidence that the guy have refused to release the asset, they gave him an hour grace to reply to my complain why he doesn't want to release or his account is going to be blocked and the asset released to me, when the 1hour is almost exhausted, that was when he finally released the asset, why am I say this? When doing a trade on p2p as a newbie, it's very important to that someone experience is present, so as to show him how to go about it, and the measures that should be taken if the next person is a potential scammer.
Please Scammers are getting more sophisticated everyday, we should all thread with caution.

Like almost every day scammers uses new strategies to defraud people more especially newbies are always victims to this effect and sometimes before entering to do any p2p transactions, make sure you're mentally okay like nothing is bothering you at that material time otherwise you might make mistakes in the process. Though everyone should be cautious not only newbies on how they go about p2p transactions otherwise you would get scammed.
