Contrary to what nagle believes BMMO is just here to make an honest go at a bitcoin mining enterprise trading on the GLBSE.  No it might not be a multi-million dollar operation, but it's an honest venture and it is going to pay it's dividend as long as bitcoin mining returns a profit, which we believe is well into the future.  There may be it's ups and downs, but the creators of blockminers aren't in bitcoin for only this venture, and that will soon lend even more credibility to this operation.

Get em now while they're cheap.  Expected September dividend is .0172 per share, net our .003 fee for this month, that is a .0142 yield.  We are backing these shares by real mhashs.

642  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Custom FPGA Mining Board: X6000/X6500 on: September 26, 2011, 09:39:05 PM
Alright, the boards are in, still waiting on some parts to arrive.

http://fillwithcoolblogname.blogspot.com/2011/09/boards-are-in.html

Will let you guys know how it turns out. The boards are looking fantastic.

Just so it's clear, these are the first 5 PCBs, which need to be stress tested to prove that our design has no problems. After that's done and all looks good (knock on wood), we will be placing large orders. We'll keep you updated!

Do you know when you will allow pre-orders again?  Timeline for 2nd wave?

Well, seems like quite a lot of people are interested in this thread, but so far only one posting from somebody who actually mentions being interested in buying a board.

Looks like I will only be ordering enough PCBs for my own personal use.

This isn't a big deal for me because I designed the boards mainly for myself, figuring the ability to sell them would be neat if it worked out -- but not depending on it.

However, for anybody out there thinking of designing/building/marketing a Spartan6 board for mining purposes, it looks like the market isn't interested unless the fully-assembled cost is below $250 per chip.  Probably an important data point to have before you make any plans for large-scale production!

i'm quite interested in buying some boards..

Are you selling the cable with the units?

No.

Could you provide a link to the cable?  Might be nice if you offered the cable you use for an additional fee..

What would be required to get one device connected to a standard PC? The base device($250), plus a single 12w power suply ($15)? Are you including any connector/cable to get I/O to/from the PC, or would an additional cable (jtag to usb???) be required?

Just trying to get an idea of just how much would be needed to attach this to a basic PC. I don't want to budget for $265 per card then find out that each card also needs a $50 cable or something like that to make it actually work.

You need a USB-to-JTAG cable.  One of the important features of the backplane is that it lets you use ONE cable for six boards, so you get to split the cost of the cable six ways.

Some bitstreams require that you use Xilinx's lame IMPACT software and an IMPACT-compatible JTAG cable (they tend to be more expensive).

I personally use urjtag in my own (unreleased) designs, and there are $20 cables that work with it.  But I don't think the "fpgaminer" and "ztex" designs work with them.

Are you selling the cable with the units?

Of course, the people behind this are trying to hide behind a domain anonymization service run by Enom, so they think they can just disappear. But there are ways to get through that anonymity. (If you need to do this, "WHOIS PRIVACY PROTECTION SERVICE" is a Nevada corporation which is a front for Enom. D&B has contact information for that company.  If you file a lawsuit, name Enom as a co-defendant; they'll immediately cave and disclose the actual party behind the domain.)

We aren't here to rip anyone off, however, as stated in our asset contract (where?), we may suspend mining if it becomes unprofitable, for as long as we see fit to mitigate loss, or, indefinitely.

Then you are not committing to anything and your "contract" is worthless.

Where? On the GLBSE of course, any GLBSE user will know where, as the asset contract is what you are actually buying.  If GLBSE users think its worthless, they will price it accordingly.

how would this be profitable for investors. please correct me if i am wrong, my math is not the best. at current difficulty 1mhash would give 0.02btc per month. current market ask price is 1.2 btc so it would take 6 months to return the initial investment.

Check your math:

  1.2 btc / 0.02btc per month = 60 months = 5 years.

@nagle  market ask is .12 btc not 1.2 btc,  322i0n quoted the current ask wrong.

assuming that 1mhash has no market value it would take 6+ months yes..

Ok cool.  Would you care to show any pics of your mining operation? I'd like to invest.

We will throw some pics on the website at some point.  Things are kind of segmented right now because we are in the process of moving our server room.  We share a server room with a couple other businesses in a building, but due to an anchor tenant requiring the space where the server room currently is, we are moving it.  So I have some miners at home temporarily as do other team members. The electrical / data for the new room should be done in about a week or so. When I go by the office tomorrow I could snap a picture of the pile of radeon boxes and a few miners if you want?

Did you issue all your shares at a certain price and have them sell out? or did you stack the share price going up? trying to figure out whats going on.

Hii Bitcoin Swami.  We issued shares representing 1 MH.  They are being sold on the free market.  These are not company ownership shares, they are a share of our mining capacity only. As we increase production or choose to sell a greater percentage of our mining capacity, we may issue more shares, thus representing more hashes.  We pay dividends monthly, which is the gross profit from mining minus our fee.  Fees are subject to change as costs change.  Right now we are selling some of our first few shares as a discount to drive some growth, but we will let the market set it's price from there.

First dividend coming next weekend!  Our miners are busy hashing away, if you hold the share at time of dividend payout, you get the benefit of a full month of mining, even if you only hold for a day!

This may change if GLBSE implements a "shareholder of record" feature by the way, but for now, they don't have that option so early adopters benefit!!

We are slowly working on a new website.. stay tuned.

658  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Largest Bitcoin Scam of Them All? on: September 19, 2011, 05:03:39 AM
It's gotta start somewhere.. not everything is a scam.  Block Miners for instance, GLBSE: BMMO, is a not a scam.  It may not be a multi-million dollar outfit, but I suspect as we will stick to our word, nothing less nothing more, that other people will as well.  The bad apples will be weeded out more or less.  If you want to see an example of this in action look at pinksheet penny stocks that have reverse merged into shells.  They haven't passed much higher of a criteria than what GLBSE provides.  Hell, all it took them was money to get a listing and it's all legal!

Find a penny stock website that 404's,  if you had a bitcoin for everyone one of those, you'd be rich. Tongue  Let's look at GLBSE in 12 months time, I think it's going to be interesting if it is still around.  Happy to be involved now.

660  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Renting hashes on: September 18, 2011, 04:10:53 PM
Is there any mining pool that allows to rent ghashes from miners? This is the model I believe there should be... it would be a sort of investment model were one should be able to rent on a mining pool an x amount of hashes at a lower instant payment than the expected mined btc espected to be mined in such a period for such amount of hashes... benefits, one invest btc in exchange of a potential benefit of lets say, 10% in a certail period, on the other side the owner of the rigs gets inmediate btc for it's rent lowering his risk of getting or not lucky according the expected btc founds, and the pool gets a % over the transaction. Here should be a sort of uptime status and trust for the rented hashes. This might get more people into mining, who then might be willing to create their own rigs.

My mining company BMMO listed on the GLBSE (Global Bitcoin Stock Exchange) offers something similar to what you are looking for.  www.blockminers.com
