Hmm... thought I'd posted this already, but I don't see it...

Welcome back HYPERfuture!  Hope the emergency is completely over now.

Okay, it's pretty quick and easy to use.  I ordered the minimum value Amazon.co.uk voucher as a test, it arrived in a few minutes.  Looking good so far!

Thanks for all the suggestions everyone!  Smiley

I'm just a little wary of it... maybe I'll try doing a very low value Amazon.co.uk gift voucher and see what happens.  I will of course report back here!

This seems quite a promising site for UK-based BTC owners to convert their Bitcoin into something more easily usable on the high street.  Has anyone used it?  Do they deliver what they promise?

I would worry about how much I have to give up using the "dog's leg" route you described. You may want to try an add on craigslist or the like. A lot of people want bitcoin and if you can find a steady face to face buyer it is a lot simpler. But the problem you have is a common one.

What concerns me about that idea is the warnings I've seen on this forum about selling directly for payment by Paypal... which could be revoked after the BTC has been sent, and little to no recourse you can take about it if you happen to come up against someone unscrupulous.   Angry

Is the Comkort > OKPAy > Paypal route safe?  (If a bit of a dogs leg involving several agencies taking their cut...)

No is the short answer. But a better question is why not just spend the BTC? It's money.

In my case, I got crypto to help fund gamedev.  Whilst I may be persuaded to use the crypto directly, my fellow devs have absolutely no interest in doing so and just want USD (weirdly we all deal mainly in USD as a common denominator despite the fact that the dev team are based in the UK, Greece and Italy!!).

I'm curious as to how many people use HYPER as in-game currency, as that seems to be one of the main intended uses of it?  Or are there not quite enough MMOs using it for it to properly catch on for that purpose as yet?
651  Economy / Trading Discussion / Safe way to convert BTC to USD in Paypal? on: February 26, 2015, 04:48:37 PM
I've seen quite a few scams and horror stories in relation to converting BTC to USD available in Paypal, does anyone know a bona fide safe and effective way of doing this?

I know that with Comkort you can send USD to OKPay and then exchange onto Paypal from there, but if there is an effective all-in-one solution, I would rather use that.

@Ignatius - what percentage of trading is done by bots?  (I genuinely have no idea.)

I think it's just a case of cryptocurrency being such a confidence-based thing - if people don't see the devs / PR being active, they might start to worry.  While appreciating that I am still very much a beginner at all this. it seems to me that there have been a number of unscrupulous teams in the past who just grabbed the money and ran, so it's only natural that people would be a bit nervous that devs of other coins would do the same.  I'm sure the vast majority of the people who frequent this thread genuinely hope for the best and wish to see HYPER go from strength to strength, but that won't stop people also fearing the worst.

There are no major changes in the first 100 places in the rich list.

That is valuable information. Thanks.

Indeed it is, are you positive on this temp89?

I'm very near the bottom of the hundred and I've moved up 2 places in the last couple of days.  So there is a little bit of movement, but not much.

Ah, I was thinking market "cap" meant a cap as in some kind of limit.  So it's just the total market value (in USD) of all the HYPER currently in circulation.

Thanks for the clarification!  Smiley

Okay another (only marginally embarrassing) newbie question from me!

I've been keeping an eye on how HYPER is doing at http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/hyper/

Now most of the terms are self-explanatory, and I'm assuming "24 hour volume" is either the volume traded in the last 24 hours or the amount generated by new blockchains being created.  However I'm a little baffled as to what the "Market Cap" refers to.  I'm presuming it's some kind of cap on the amount that can be traded in a certain period of time, but if anyone can clarify that for me I would really appreciate it.

This is a really interesting idea.  I will definitely keep an eye on it!  Cheesy
I recognize your name from the HYPER CC community, HYPERfuture has indicated a willingness to have the HYPER community represented as one of the officially affiliated CC communities.   Did you hear of the plan there?   Are you part of Team HYPER?

I saw the link on the HYPER thread, I'd assumed it was the same one HYPERfuture had been talking to me about.  I'm not part of the HYPER dev team if that's what you mean, although apparently I'm mooted to be a member of the "Hyper Foundation" when that starts (I just need to find out what that will actually entail!).

Since I'm an indiedev and blog about indiegames in general, though I've always shied away from crowd-funding for my own games, it's something I've written a lot about and of course am interested to see how it might help the indie gaming community in general.

And the Hyper Foundation would be a great idea.
I'd help out in any way possible too.

I'm sure you could help out in a small way.

(Ouch... sorry, that was really, really bad!  Grin)

Mine's caught up and showing my balance now too.  Cheesy

When it comes time to turn HYPER into USD / GBP / Euros (none of my dev team want cryptocurrency!), what's the easiest / most effective way to do this?  Is there an exchange that will perform the action directly or would I have to turn my HYPER into BTC first, and then turn the BTC into USD etc?
