RAGING

I need to see some better efforts with your website.
Is my tablet the issue?
I can not see what products, services and charges neo-asics will provide.
For ease of service and speed of delivery I would like to marry the chips in your group buy with your boards.
For peace of mind, I need to see something to show that neo-asics is a serious manufacturing venture and not a kluge.

I don't wish to sound abrasive, or angry, or denegrating in any manner.
I only want what is best for you and your potential customer.

Thanks,
e

I am also a bit worried about the lack of progress not only on the website, but the thread on bitcointalk regarding the assembly as well.  Things are ramping up, with chips looking to be delivered next week or so, and other group buys taking orders.  With some groupbuys, they may have to pick between an assembly service that is currently taking pre-orders and updating 4x a day, or yours which hasn't seen an update in a while.

I'd rather go with your assembly so I don't have to insert an extra wait for shipping from you to an assembler, but doing so means I miss the boat with other assemblers, and some assurance would go a long way.

It also appears that you are putting a heck of a lot more effort in hosting for KnC miners; which makes me wonder why you aren't pushing your own finished products for hosting more and instead focusing on KnC's assembled units.  If you could just chime in and give us an update on the assembly side of things, I think it would put a lot of people at ease.

I think I will wait until a balance between difficulty, price and ASIC saturation occurs before buying anything new.

But for what it is worth:

OP Updated

If you reach the total volume of 1,000 USB sticks, price is dropped to 0.89 each. We will also pay back the price difference of all your historic transaction (timeline started from the 0.99 pricing) of USB sticks. For example, if you bought more than 1,000 sticks, 500 for 1.99 and 500 for 0.99, the new price will be 0.89, and we will pay you the price difference for the 0.99 USB sticks, that is (0.99-0.89)*500=50BTC.

Sorry for the original ambiguation before that misled some customers that the price difference we pay back is 1.0BTC. What we expected to say is for the price difference based on both new prices.

Think what he means is he'll sell you another 500 for BTC495.  So once you buy, you can tell him you've got 1000 total and he should refund back BTC50.  So your order total for the 500 will end up costing BTC445.  The .89 pricing applies only to the usbs bought since the .99 price change.

Clear as mud to me and for everyone else.   Cheesy

Looks like the .99 is being reduced to .89, but the 1.99 is left static.  First comers, sorry about your luck.

If you didn't know friedcat has a deal for all those early adopters of the USB Block Erupter.
I guess it is only available to arklan if he organises another group buy.

How would this work?  For his group buy, they'll refund the difference from the original group buy as a credit towards a new buy?  We should definitely research this!  I'll participate.
644  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Mount your Avalon ASIC Chips at reasonable rates! Avalon Clone/Klondike US on: June 25, 2013, 09:35:36 PM
Hey Raging;

Any news?  Some assemblers are taking orders now - when will you know more info?

When do you expect to start your IPO?
646  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Ann] US based Avalon ASIC chips and assembly: 3,197 remaining on: June 24, 2013, 03:06:47 AM
A test email will be sent tomorrow.

Instructions regarding assembly purchase will be made available the moment they are finalized. The payment gateway will be handling the payment conversion.

The process for any additional fees incurred from receipt of the Avalon chips has not changed, and will be distributed evenly based on chip purchase amount.

The shipping fees will be known early this week.

The Klondike is being verified for overclock ability, and several possible solutions have been suggested to increase it's potential. Each of the options does increase the cost of the board slightly, either from higher rated components or additional board size, or both. Some of them are minor, some are not. This additional cost will not be passed on to the end user. The base board design has been tested by several different sources and has passed, and the majority of the parts will stay the same. Lead time can be affected, and will increase the cost of PCB manufacture to ensure delivery before Batch 1. This cost will not be passed on to the end user.

The BOM has changed multiple times already. Sometimes due to scarcity, sometimes due to redesign.

The post linked lends itself to staggered delivery. We will plan for both possibilities.

So you will be updating design based on BKKCoin's changes at no additional cost?  Pretty solid.  I noticed a few posts back you posted pics of the heatsink.  If pcb board size is changed, does this affect the heatsink design?
647  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Ann] US based Avalon ASIC chips and assembly: 3,197 remaining on: June 24, 2013, 01:52:15 AM
It appears in BKKCoins thread there is discussion regarding overclocking and the potential requirements for changing the board to handle it.  I'm not up on the specifics, but it appears that there may be some tweaks and changes to the k16.  How is this being handled?  It doesn't appear that BKKCoins himself even knows what's going to happen, so I'm curious how you can set a price and a deadline when the schematics for a working board aren't even complete.  Is this even an issue or something minor enough not to affect parts orders and assembly cost/lead time?
648  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Klondike - 16 chip ASIC Open Source Board - Preliminary on: June 23, 2013, 01:20:05 PM
+1 for Adding additional voltage regulators for stable work and spreading the load to let them all run at a lower current , better for the heat ( life)

but 12x12 idd disagree . The 10x10 was one of the first design rules that were used, changing that may have consequense on allot of folks (terrahash and other DIY guys) already prepping up  . But I would think nobody wil want to let 2 chips do nothing

terrahash will have a hard time figuring out what they wil have to do with these 2 chips , Offer all the people a upgrade to add 4 more chips , or refund or some kind that nobody wil want

10x10cm PCB and 16 chips that was golden . Nobody said how many regulators it will be having

Adding additional voltage regulators will help not only for the overclock but for more stable work, lower noise psu, lower temperatures, if you make board 12X12 this will help also about cooling, cause the most produced fans are with this size, now stocking a quallity 10cm fan is hard.

Above in bold; I remember the discussion where BKKCoins explicitly stated that the design wasn't ready before releasing it.  Anyone who ramped up on that design was warned ahead of time.  I personally don't think this should really have any weight in BKKCoin's decision making process.
649  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Ann] US based Avalon ASIC chips and assembly: 3,733 remaining on: June 18, 2013, 02:36:50 PM
I'm waiting for a little more news on the development front, and I'll put in another order for a few more units.

I've made my initial investment to stay ahead of the curve.  I'm waiting to see how it all "actually works" before investing more.  If the K16 runs well (which I believe it will) and the chips ship close to the stated times, I'll place additional orders.

I think those who take large risks are already all in.  Those that are a little more cautious are ordering from companies like KNCMiner and Terrahash.  Those that are very cautious are waiting for proof of concept before investing.  I can bet that once a working board shows up with video proof, the flood gates will re-open.

Form a Co-Op... link co-ops around the world. Build our own chips and share open source boards and chip designs. Win win for the consumers.

I'm interested in helping organize, but I'm no EE so I have little expertise in this area to bring to the table.  How can we get these things started?  I guess maybe a meetup is in order for all who are willing to organize.  I'll be on vacation next week but after that will look into getting something started.
652  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [Group Buy#1] Avalon ASICs CHIPS! Using JohnK as escrow! FINISHED! on: June 14, 2013, 03:07:15 AM
That's great and all but I don't know that your group buy thread is the right place to advocate a new venture.

It is because people can just have their chips mounted here (where the chips are delivered) and not have to ship them out to other people. So they don't have to pay shipping and wait a lot longer Wink

Actually, your prices are right in my ballpark for the first 20.  Also you're on the east coast.  This makes you a better choice than ryepdx whose in Oregon.  What part of the east coast, might I ask?  I'm in Western VA.
653  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] - Stumptown Miners - Avalon PCB Assembly - West Coast USA on: June 13, 2013, 07:18:02 PM
Also, ryepdx I filled out your order form, but can't get the BTC until a week from Monday.  I'm confident you won't receive my chips by then, so I should be ok, but how do I update my order form?  That is, how do I recall the previous form I've already filled out?

If you're just talking about getting a payment address, the address shown upon order form completion will work indefinitely. You can even bookmark the URL if you want. The page won't go away or anything.

If you need quantities or something changed for an order you've already made and paid for, just email or message me and I'll be happy to make the changes.

I believe I saved the payment address, but I can't be positive.  When I get home tonight I'll check, and if not I'll PM you.

Thanks!

So where do we tell our group buy organizers to ship chips?

I would imagine that they would probably deal directly with each other. I think John K acted as escrow for both ryepdx as well as Ragnazn (organizer of my group buy) so it should be relatively easy for them to coordinate. I just filled out the shipping info form for my group buy and indicated that I was having them sent to Stumptown. I don't know how everyone else feels but my preference would be to just bundle all the Stumptown-bound chips together in one shipment, overnight to Oregon, and share the cost between those involved (proportional to each person's share of the chips). Alternatively, ryepdx would cover shipping for that one shipment and each of us users would pay him our share (this way one person isn't delaying the shipment to Stumptown).

Ok.  Will do.

I will send pledged chips to BKK but I will need the rest for my development over here as well.
...

Ahh!  Giant Pics!  Tiny screen!

Seriously though; all sample chips should be allocated based on percentage of the buy holding, right?  What about these other 22 chips?  No one weigh in?  To me it seems from the spreadsheet that you personally are entitled to .686 or so chips.

Just want to make sure everything is on the up and up.

Yes but you forget I have my own project and it is a lot of work doing this group buy as well. 8 so far and I will keep the rest for development.  I am only getting 1% (7.8BTC) for doing this group buy. If you guys don't think this is fair then please let me know.

ALSO!

Please fill out this new form:

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1eM7xUr058AAgDkPSlAbAVYKTihKE0v2JXD8Yac8T200/viewform

The fee was pre-agreed upon, but I don't think any sample chips were allocated to you in the original thread.  With my small stake it's of little consequence to me, but I feel that that is indeed not what was bargained for.  If no one else cares, it's cool with me, but I think that should definitely be a community consensus, and not an assumption.

All those supporting BKK please let me know and we can all support the shipping cost equally. Please give us a wallet address for shipping costs for BKKCoins only Raging.... also Noitev we can reimburse you later if you like as we all should really split that shipping cost fairly.

I pledge whatever amount of chips I am supposed to be allotted to BKKCoins and I will keep track in this post. Please tell us what the shipping costs to Thailand will be?

Pledged Chips to BKK

Bicknellski (540)
Noitev (592)
bigbeninlondon (20)
Vycid (128.21)
bassclef (95)
erschiessen (51.28)
Kushedout (300)
pierrejo (69.72)
SteveB (40)
dan99 (68.36)

Total 1904.57

1904.57 / 10000 chips = 0.190457

0.190457 x 30 =  5.71371 (6) sample chips

We need to PM BKKCoins and coordinate shipping ASAP he can actually use even 1 chip if possible right now. Anyone else pledging chips for BKKCoins do so soon and let others know about it so we can get him more.

I will be supporting ryepdx's west coast board manufacturing effort, so in line with this my sample chips should go to BKK.  I haven't been able to make heads or tails of the sample chip calculation.  I've got an order here for 256 chips, so that gives me ... half a chip?

30 chips per 10,000.  256 / 10000 = .0256 or 2.56% of the group buy, which entitles you to 2.56% of the sample chips.  This gives you .768 chips.

Out of curiosity - how did you get the 5850 to 391MH/s? What's the voltage and GPU frequencies? And what software do you use and how many watts does it use?
I've found mine to be quite stable when undervoltaged to 0.975-0.987 and GPU at 775-785MHz (which results in 305-308MH/s). On the good side - power usage is pretty decent - 675W with 5 of them mining.

Voltage : 1.199v
gpu : 950
mem : 350 (this is the "sweet spot" higher or lower will not give as much mh/s)

It's a sapphire and I use Trixx.

I just lowered it a bit at 381mh/s with a voltage of 1.162 and gpu at 920 to have less fan noise. I have instruments to measure the power usage but i'm at work so I don't care Wink

This can be easily done at stock voltage mem@150 core@840. You only need to replace cooling paste with Arctic silver. Usage is about 180... And I have tested your settings. I think you need batter kill-a-watt. I can't make it run with the usage that you reported last time... It uses about 120W+. If I remember correct you reported 85W.

That won't give you 391mh/s at all more like 330.

I am wondering how you get the lower memory to work.... every time I try to decrease the memory in WINDOWS machines the AMD CCC app freaks out and puts the video cards to their default memory settings refusing to let me change it anymore. unless I use TRIXX but after using Trixx for awhile the AMD CCC App gets totally lost as to what the card is doing.
Like presently one machine that I was using Trixx on the AMD CCC app has no idea what the fan speed and temp of the card is anymore it doesnt display it. on another one it display them but has wrong value. another one I completely removed all amd drivers because the Trixx utility and the amd ccc app wouldnt control the card anymore...

I use MSI Afterburner.  Let's me do all kinds of fun stuff. Smiley
