You cannot plan for everything that life throws at you
True, but I think that he did prepare for this. However, I also think that it's much much better if the wide public doesn't know what are his plans.

While it's a shitcoiner and his declarations are clearly biased, he does have a point: institutional investors are here, certain banks make clear steps towards Bitcoin (and allowing their customers directly into Bitcoin), heck, it's even legal tender in a country, ... and still the market reacts like we're going towards the end of the world.
I know that one reason is the big drop in hash rate, but I think that's over reacting. The hash rate is already getting back up (for today 120 EH/s was reported again).

(but the article didn't say why do they assume it's Satoshi Nakamato wallet)
I see there old wallets indeed, but basically from 2012, which doesn't really qualify as early Satoshi's coins. It looks more like either moves of bitcoin.de cold wallet, either moves of one of their old customers. I'm not a chain analysis expert and I may have missed something, but this looks more like a FUD than something related to Satoshi.
|
|
|
If we could reduce the complex nature of Bitcoin, the adoption of it should go up.
While I completely agree that the means of transacting bitcoin (basically the wallets) could be made even more user-friendly especially with those not technically inclined and such a move would help the adoption, I don't think that they are *so* complicate that they could trigger a phobia. Indeed, Bitcoin internals, the cryptography, the huge numbers, they are complicated. But people don't have to know all that in order to happily use or hold Bitcoin.
|
|
|
Did you meant board or a different forum entirely?
I meant entirely different forum, probably hypothetical one, since I don't know if it exists. People who would have such a phobia would surely avoid by far this kind of forum; at least that's what I'd expect.
|
|
|
I somehow tend to believe that people who come to this forum and discuss about crypto... don't suffer from cryptophobia... So I think that you should put this into the forums populated by economists and banksters ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) (if there are any)

"unlearn And relearn"
The theory sounds good. But the reality is uglier. Many who did trading when the trend was mostly up were on profit without actual knowledge. They thought they're trading, but it was closer to gambling. All those have nothing to unlearn, because they didn't actually know anything. (It may sound harsh, sorry.) Instead anybody who would like to trade should learn. A lot. From TA and stop loss to "reading" the news, rumors and FUD and find their way. Also many have to understand that trading is not for everybody and the risk they take and the stress behind it may or may not pay off.

i dont have the seed to electrum.
I don't know how you managed to not have it, but this is bad. Maybe you can search harder? but i have the electrum in front of me with my btc viewable.
This doesn't matter, anybody who knows your address(es) can see how much money is there (but they will still not be able to spend). was able to locate the wallet file.named walletelectrum..
can i decrypt this file, this format --->mk9y4pONBDQWw80fv/59sIvYJiMPpLwqFs into a readable seed.?
i usually dont do stupid things like this, but we kind of messed up recently.
or are there any google autheticator pros, that knows exactly how to recover a google authenticator account without a backup.
None of the info is useful. And there's no "pros who can recover" this kind of encrypted things without the info meant for backup. Else everybody could recover everybody's authenticator, or bitcoin or whatever. Try to find your Electrum seed. Then you'll have a valid starting point.

Everyone is looking at El Salvador to be “the home” of Bitcoin, but I believe Singapore is better to be the true hub of the Bitcoin industry, with serious players.
The "legal tender" and the fact that's rather close to US make El Salvador very important. The fact that other countries are Bitcoin friendly doesn't mean that much. And while El Salvador has its place in history now, Singapore will probably have quite a competition into becoming a "hub" (and probably not from El Salvador). Singapore has made a lot of effort on the technological sector. It cannot be said of El Salvador. Singapore has clean governance, and almost zero corruption. El Salvador’s government structure might be corrupt everywhere from the bottom to the top. Singapore’s banking industry is what made the country develop into one of the richest countries in the world. It can further develop by embracing the Bitcoin industry.
Imho these don't matter that much and the comparison is uneven. And you tried to compare apples with oranges, making a fruit salad. As long as the banking industry didn't embrace Bitcoin in Singapore, all you are saying is wishful thinking. And the history has shown that the "possibly more corrupt government structure" has already done a step the "almost zero corruption" govt of Singapore was afraid to make. So comparing the corruption may not bring anything useful. I think that El Salvador will probably not become a tech hub for Bitcoin. It may very well be that even Singapore won't be that. Imho, whether we like it or not, US has bigger chance for that.

First of all, one cannot identify Satoshi without a proof of keys. And most probably, for proof of keys, he has to be... alive and willing to do so.
Indeed, if these conditions are met, when he steps up he will become the target for all kind of stuff, from digging up every stupid thing as kid or adult (true or not) to threats to his life or freedom (whether from agencies, mafia or "bounty hunters") - keep in mind that he's incredibly rich and the money can be stolen with minimal trace.
And then the FUD and the possibility that somebody spends so huge amounts of Bitcoin will take its heavy toll on Bitcoin itself.
So yeah, if he would be identified, it would be bad for both Bitcoin and himself.

I may be totally wrong, but with such old source you may have more success on something closer to initial configuration (maybe 32 bit too?). And, as said, it may be pointless. You acquire have better knowledge from much more recent source, which will compile easier and will also work.

I don't think that it's not a problem, remember that immigrants are being a target of prejudiced towards this people because they think that they're taking every jobs out there. I still think that the next generation is much dumber because no form of critical thinking is being employed.
It is a problem, but it's unrelated to the topic. As I said, the problem usually is that nobody asks for such specialists. And I've seen in many countries the "immigrants take out jobs" play. It's usually sang by people too under-qualified for the jobs "taken from them" or too lazy to do lower jobs for lower pay. I don't think that any smart manager would care about that.

Probably the reason could be that there's not a lot of smart people in USA, most people that have a really academics and technology inclinations are immigrants like Asians, European or even Africans. Look at what some of the dreams of kids in USA wants, I think the top 1 is to become a YouTuber which isn't bad but it doesn't contribute a lot to society. USA is a cultural melting pot of the world, I think that the shortage can easily be solved, it just takes a lot of time.
I think that you've got it wrong. This "the top 1 is to become a YouTuber" can apply to many countries. Also the average quality of students may be declining in many countries (maybe also in US). Still I doubt that all this can make the average look better or worse in US. And it's not related to the topic, since, if there would have been willingness to hire such experts, they could have been found, whether American or not, whether from inside the borders or not. Today that is by far not a problem.

but I objected because e
Sorry, did you by chance translate this from somewhere? Also, as said, the info about the price is inaccurate. I want to add only one thing: one rule of investment is to put there money you can afford to lose. And this doesn't seem to be your case. Keep in mind that the price may go high, but may also drop a lot before getting to new ATH. So you may "stay hungry" for very short or very long time. Also keep in mind that you have only one life... All in all, I will not advise anybody neither to HODL, nor to sell. Everybody should decide for himself with his own money. It's a risk in any move you do and it's you who has to acknowledge and take the risk.

What comes to my mind without thinking too much would be:
* the halving * the institutional money starting to flow in * the long awaited lift off for the price

With all this in mind, do you believe that once the new forum is released, Bitcointalk will increase its userbase?
I think that the best part will be, as DdmrDdmr also pointed out, that major search engines should not punish bitcointalk any longer. This will bring (hopefully a constant flux of) new users with genuine interest in crypto. The mobile-friendly part will be... a bonus ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) All in all, yes, I do believe that new forum software will help increase the user base.

Is seems like cheapo knock-offs are multiplying
Chinese shops are full of cheap imitations of physical Bitcoins and similar collectibles for years, really. The fact that this also reached Amazon and EBay is just a next step. I'm not sure about a solution. Most probably the chemical content will tell over the years which one is the original.

Oricum, bafta!
