6421  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Crypto Credit Card for the Philippines on: May 22, 2020, 09:38:59 AM
Hi there,

is there currently a company where you have a wallet and they are sending/providing Credit Card linked to the wallet for/to the Philippines.

I'm using Paymaya and Gcash already but the max limit they have is 100k per month and the CC is in PHP. (also not really a crypto wallet)

I would be looking for a card which runs in USD if possible.

I have the feeling that most of the companies only offer Credit Card to US and EU countries. Is there one which is shipping
worldwide?

Would be happy about any help and suggestions,

kind regards

Unfortunately, crypto debit and credit card providers do not do business with us here in the Philippines yet due to the events that transpired back in 2017 wherein the said services were abused by tons of people. Currently, such services are restricted to only US/EU citizens until further notice. You can try using Paypal perhaps? Not really a crypto wallet but gets the job done if you have the cash in Paymaya/Gcash you can just transfer it over and spend it anywhere.
6422  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Underground Casinos Is it Happening? on: May 21, 2020, 08:17:55 PM
They exist, and believe me when I say that sometimes, the money that they raise on those platforms are also large and even on-par with small to medium-sized casinos. Countries in Asia--particularly SEA--have these underground gambling platforms in play. Oftentimes the local law enforcement groups are protecting these underground casinos in exchange for protection money. Heck, even a few blocks from where I live, government officials meet up and play mahjong and other card games everyday!
6423  Economy / Economics / Re: Fed concerns about US economy are a reminder that economy may never be the same on: May 21, 2020, 07:08:10 PM
There's no doubt that the US will have a second wave of the virus since different state officials and governors are already too eager to open up their borders and lift quarantines to do business. This will be a huge economic burden to the US, and the Feds need not blame others but only point fingers at themselves since they allowed this to happen. The real workers of the economy are either too scared to go out or too sick to even think of working. No matter how much financial adjustments are made, the US is bound for a 2008-like economic meltdown due to this pandemic.
6424  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Huobi's VP accuses BNB and CMC for 'distorting' crypto rankings on: May 21, 2020, 06:12:50 PM
I don't think Binance will act in their own volition re: acquisition of CMC since that would be negative press. Even though we all know that CMC is kinda rigged in a way back then, it still has its own merits and can even improve on how they rank platforms. If Huobi wants to really up their game, perhaps try and suggest some thing to better the current way of ranking coins so everyone would be in a level playing field.

It's a big accusation from the side of Huobi. Sure there is a possibility that this is being done intentionally, but again it is outlined in CMC on how they do things before they display the ranking.
6425  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The Effect of the Bitcoin Halving on Online Casinos on: May 21, 2020, 05:08:56 PM
Bitcoin and not the halving in particular is what's really shaping up the online gambling scene as of late. Halving has nothing to do with all the innovation and improvements that casinos have seen within the past few years on their platforms IMO. The surge in people wanting to try online casinos w/ cryptocurrencies is mainly driven by the demand of people who opted using bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies for their online gambling adventures. Halving only cuts the block reward in half, and idk why everyone wants to overcomplicate things and try to pin the event into somewhere else.
6426  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Small Business that accept bitcoin or cyptocurrency here in PH, worth it ba? on: May 20, 2020, 07:41:23 PM
Isolated ang establishments na directly nag-accept ng cryptocurrencies dito sating bansa dahilan na rin sa kawalan ng user-base at karamihan ay mas tutok sa investing side of things ng naturang financial tool. Dun sa na-snap kong establishment in Mandaluyong, they are still there, though napag-alaman ko na ginagamit nilang wallet eh not really a personal one but from coins.ph. It helps on conversion at transaction fees and the gist is there--as long as magagamit mo yung bitcoins mo then why not?

Other establishments are surely worth the visit, lalo yung blockchain fuel for sure. Madalas akong napapadpad ng Lingayen, Dagupan at Calasiao every weekends para magrelax though hindi ko pa nabibisita yang gas station na yan. Perhaps some time after ECQ eh kukuha ako ng personal photos to use in my own blogs.
6427  Economy / Economics / Re: Coinbase from February 2009 has just been moved! on: May 20, 2020, 06:39:41 PM
I'm quite certain that it's not only Hal and satoshi knew about bitcoin and how mining works back then. The project was openly announced on different cypherpunks mailing list, and so there's a slim chance that people from there also joined in on the fun. There's really nothing to know beyond the fact that the coins and address are from February 2009, close to the genesis block. It could be Satoshi, or one of Hal's addresses being moved by his kin or some other super early dude. The specifics perhaps we wouldn't know, though this might be a precursor to some more interesting event in 2020--something to put us astray on the woes and problems brought by the pandemic, finally.
6428  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What sports do you think that can resume amid Covid-19 scare. on: May 20, 2020, 06:33:32 PM
I have some doubts on swimming though knowing that athletes would soak in chlorine-rich pools, it can actually pass as a sport--though I don't think many would be that interested in watching the said event. Anyway, for some sports, tennis is probably one of the best bets, along with football (soccer for some dudes), hockey and American football. Basketball is quite an uncertain path for now since major leagues has since suspended the season until the COVID-19 scare eases.
6429  Economy / Economics / Re: The Rise of Biotech Firms: Moderna's 'fast-tracked' Success on: May 20, 2020, 05:43:29 PM
DEVELOPING: Moderna Vaccine Whiplash Demands Better Disclosure

Quote from: Bloomberg.com
Interpreting drug trial data releases is difficult in the best of circumstances. And usually, it's just a problem for the subset of investors who focus on the sector. In the middle of a pandemic, a whole world is throwing money around on press releases, and it's making a mess of expectations and the market.

U.S. stocks soared Monday on the publication of early human vaccine data from Moderna Inc., only to reverse course Tuesday after an article from the excellent health news publication Stat highlighted its limits and the long and highly uncertain path ahead. It’s similar to what happened in late April, when markets reacted and retrenched after a limited rollout of results from a trial of Gilead Science's Inc.'s virus treatment remdesivir. It was enough to get the drug approved on a limited basis, but doctors and investors alike are still waiting for something more than a basic analysis weeks later.

This boom-confusion-bust cycle doesn't benefit anybody, except for companies such as Moderna that raise money at hyped-up valuations. Unsophisticated  investors aren't going to understand the nuances of drug development overnight. All this suggests that when it comes to a race for a vaccine with unprecedented scientific, public health, and policy implications, there ought to be a higher standard on disclosure.

Pharmaceutical companies routinely release so-called "topline" data, an initially limited snapshot of results in a press release, and then follow up with more detailed information at a later date. It's also not at all uncommon to report interim results from incomplete ongoing studies. Even by that standard, Moderna's release has issues. The company's phase one trial was primarily intended as a first look at the vaccine's safety rather than a hard test of whether it works. While the safety disclosures didn't produce big red flags, they also weren't flawless or especially detailed, especially considering that the company's technology has never produced a widely used human vaccine.

Though it wasn't the focus of the trial, efficacy data got the highest billing in the company's press release and the most attention as the world grasps for hope about a quicker route back to normalcy. One of the principal sources of excitement — the claim that the vaccine created neutralizing antibodies equivalent to those in recovered individuals in a subset of patients — came from a group of just eight people. Even though scientists are still in the earliest stages of figuring out the immune response to this virus, Moderna provided no hard data on the level of antibodies produced or the yardstick it was measuring against. The world will have to wait for an indeterminate period for that information, and to see whether it translates to a protective effect in the real world.

It's possible that Moderna had a predetermined plan to release results and followed it. Companies have to disclose material information, and there are more gray areas with this sort of early open-label trial. However, to the extent that there was latitude, investors and the world would arguably have been better served had the company waited a few weeks to get more followup data and released far more detail. The company created the conditions for a narrative to run ahead of the data, and other vaccine developers should avoid its example.

None of this is to say that the results are bad; they're enough to proceed to and help inform larger trials. They're just shaky justification for a huge rally in Moderna’s already elevated stock given the more difficult trials ahead for the vaccine, its uncertain commercial prospects, and the many other candidates in development, let alone for a broader surge. The release confirms that this vaccine is a viable candidate in a long race, not that one is coming dramatically sooner.

The enormous import of the ongoing work from Moderna and other companies and the public funds flowing in their direction should come with extra responsibility.

It's good that investors and laymen alike aren't putting their whole trust and confidence on the findings of Moderna's vaccine. As ThePharmacist has pointed out, biotech firms aren't really known for holding value on their stocks for far too long, and here we see Moderna Inc. tanking down from $80 a share to $71 in just a day. Through the 'incomplete' and 'poorly-detailed' results released by the firm, many started to raise questions on the safety and efficacy of the vaccine, and with those questions come the investors confidence. Most probably didn't sell because they don't believe in Moderna, but any sane man/investor seeing his money grow almost double overnight would really go and take the profits rather than risk something on a rather shaky claim.

This is where things would get tricky for Moderna, as they are the first who boldly claim that their vaccines 'work' without highlighting what side-effects the test subjects experienced. The whole world is watching their every move since they stimulated hope in the minds of those who wish this pandemic ends sooner, including the minds of the money-maker not only looking for normalcy but also looking at the next piggy bank which they can take some cash from.
6430  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Vaccine against Covid-19 should be made before sports events will take place? on: May 20, 2020, 05:31:18 PM
I'm not really a fan of fear-mongering and such, but the concerns of the governments are fully justified when it comes to allowing such events with crowds. Sure, sports events coordinators/associations can hold fights/tournaments, but only exclusive to essential people that need to be there, and of course that excludes fans and spectators. If scientists and researchers see that the virus does not progress at such an alarming rate, perhaps there would be no quarantines whatsoever that have been put into place anywhere. Then again it poses a different kind of threat compared to the flu that's why they are acting this way.

I'm sure most sports associations have laid out their plans to the respective authorities that govern them, so I'm pretty sure that we will be seeing sports actions sans live audiences, and I think that is better than having no sporting events at all.
6431  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A new survey shows that UKs gambling addiction is getting worst day by day. on: May 19, 2020, 08:35:44 PM
Sadly there's not much intervention can do on the large percentage of that number. Only a big and blunt hit on the gambler's head would cause him to change his/her ways for good. Even then, the addict might pose some severe gambling withdrawal symptoms which will make it harder for the addict to recover--but it is doable if there is continuous support and if the addict really is decided to leave their old ways. The number on UK is surprisingly low considering the fact that there are tons of bookies in the country and laws regarding gambling isn't strict. Though that's the case, I expect the number to rise as quarantines are still enforced and people are still forced to stay at home with the current situation at hand.
6432  Economy / Economics / Re: The Rise of Biotech Firms: Moderna's 'fast-tracked' Success on: May 19, 2020, 07:31:15 PM
That's great that a successful vaccine might be on the horizon relatively soon, but as far as the stocks of companies that make vaccines (even ones that get widely used, like for seasonal flu), I don't think Moderna or any other biotech company is going to be able to hold onto gains like 39% over the long term.

I remember the biotech boom of the late 90s, though for the life of me I can't remember what sparked that, and that turned out to be a bubble just like any other one.  A biotech company or big pharma firm might make a bockbuster drug, but it takes a lot of money up front to do so, plus they only have the patent on the drug for about 14 years.

That's what I am seeing as well. For now, people are seeing the use of biotech and pharma companies since they are the ones capable of producing vaccines that can potentially eradicate this virus. But once the threat of COVID-19 has already been erased, and normalcy is returned to its original state, I don't think the money would be sitting quite idly on these same firms and we might see the biggest crashes in the pharma/biotech space.

But we'll see.  I'm not sure if coronavirus is going to turn out to be a fast-mutating virus, where a new vaccine is going to have to be developed every year, or if a vaccine will impart lifelong immunity.  If the latter is the case, a COVID-19 vaccine might not be the big moneymaker people think it's going to be.

The mutation of the virus on several key proteins is rated @ 10% faster compared to other key proteins/sequences, enough to make vaccine makers somewhat scratch their heads on what to do next. However on a general note, this vaccine would still potentially negate SARS-CoV-2 in its entirety until it is produced since the whole virus itself isn't really mutating at an alarmingly fast rate. It's a once in a lifetime opportunity to whomever gets the right formula for the vaccine so they must finish it quick.
6433  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Online Physical Gambling Casino Simulation through GTA V on: May 19, 2020, 03:55:04 PM
I don't think Rockstar Games would even allow their in-game currency to be transferred to other people, making the credits-to-cash option unavailable. Nevertheless, with Epic Games giving away the premium GTA V for free a few days back, I don't see any reason why people should not try this gambling/casino experience in-game. The thrill is still there, even though there isn't anything to be had in the end for profit. This is also giving a chance to people who didn't have spare cash to play on an online casino to at least feel the vibe on playing in one.

Moderna skyrockets 39% after its early trial of a coronavirus vaccine produced antibodies in all 45 patients (MRNA)

  • Moderna announced on Monday that all 45 patients in an early trial of its coronavirus vaccine candidate produced antibodies that could help protect them against COVID-19.
  • Shares of the company surged 39%.
  • The company is aiming to have a vaccine ready for emergency use in the fall.

Moderna soared on Monday after announcing that an early trial of its coronavirus vaccine candidate produced positive results.
Shares of the pharmaceutical company surged as much as 39% in premarket trading in New York after it said that all 45 volunteers in the trial produced antibodies that may help protect them against COVID-19.
The phase-one trial was conducted by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, part of the National Institutes of Health.

Moderna is aiming to have a vaccine ready for emergency use in the fall — a timeline that has never been seen for vaccine development. The company hopes to soon start a mid-stage study of the vaccine candidate after the phase-one trial and move to a late-stage trial in July.
Moderna is one of a handful of pharmaceutical companies whose shares have skyrocketed during the coronavirus crisis as they race to develop drugs and vaccines to prevent or treat COVID-19. The pharmaceutical company had gained 241% this year through Friday's close.

While other companies focused on other ventures continue to tank, stocks of pharma and biotech firms continue to rise as people see the immediate need for a vaccine against SARS-CoV-2. While some firms are busy concocting the drug against COVID-19 such as Gilead Inc's remdesivir, others are focused solely on getting the formula right for a vaccine such as Moderna Inc. On Monday, the biotech firm announced its positive interim phase 1 data for its mRNA vaccine (mRNA-1273) which ultimately boosted investor confidence on the company releasing the vaccine before the year end. If the second phase of human trials shows yet another positive results, we probably have the vaccine made and ready, with Moderna reaping the benefits of its success.

There are still some rooms for failure for Moderna's vaccine, but for the mean time, people are waking up and trying to put some money on an industry that has long been neglected by the wealthy elite and the average Joe's alike. Perhaps in 2020 we will see a trend wherein biotech firms outdo other companies in terms of stock performance, or as long as there is the threat of COVID-19 lingering around every corner.
6435  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling hiding, rules ignored. on: May 18, 2020, 08:38:19 PM
It only means two things: your government enforce the law poorly or they are with the gambling house and are being paid to remain operational. We have isolated cases of such events and occurrences here as well though those were swiftly taken care of on most cases. People will come to these type of places for as long as they know they are 'safe' not from the disease itself but from the law enforcement.

Try reporting the establishment anonymously and see whether it will continue to operate at those hours or not. Also, aren'tcurfews imposed everywhere currently? How were you able to get out of your place that late?

Wrong section bud, but this link might help: https://www.sitepoint.com/ethereum-internal-transactions-token-transfers/

Ask PDAX if they are supporting 'contracts' on ETH. I've had the similar problem in a different website wherein I sent from an exchange in the form of 'contracts' as described by the support and that's the reason why the balance did not appear on a particular website even though it has over 200 confirmations by the time I sent my query. Also, there is no difference in seeing uppercase or lowercase in the address for ETH since they are not case-sensitive.
6437  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: FOX prepared to add virtual fans and crowd noise to NFL broadcasts on: May 18, 2020, 05:50:56 PM
I'm pretty sure there exists a technology wherein they can make it look like the stadium is fully-packed and emulate the noises done by those same fans. Just to make the game a little bit homey and not deserted and desolated as it would turn out if they'd just show the players playing it out. Sure, it will not be the same as the original NFL games but at the least it gets the gears going by providing an atmosphere that fans at home are familiar with.

It's better than giving out tickets to fans and letting them contract the virus and possibly cause a chain reaction of disease transmission.
6438  Economy / Speculation / Re: Some Interesting pump in BTC on: May 18, 2020, 04:52:42 PM
Every little appreciation in value of bitcoin is often mistakenly referred to as a pump, while in reality, it could just be another normal daily/weekly price movement that happens every time. If it was a pump, we would see bitcoin tank back to $6000 or lower by now, but from the looks of it the value is still there while the volume remains essentially the same prior to the rise back to $9000.

And to the notion that rich dudes are buying right now, think again. They would have done so when the price sits @ $5000 and lower, though I'm sure that there are still some smart guys out there that managed to snatch some coins when the price is literally on the floor. Anyway, price being stable/holding on to these levels does not necessarily mean a bull run is under way. Just look at the numerous similar scenarios that we had in 2019 that people thought was the 'one' that can top the 2017 bull run.

You should not believe such statements from the President. Sometimes they issue such statements so that the panic in the society is calm down.
There is no reason not to believe the president, he is the father of the nation and whatever comes into his mouth will be taken seriously.
I am sure people are already happy now with the announcement, but I would like to see some link about the news though.

I might get swayed a little bit in here but Trump is notoriously known to be a bluffer when it comes to whatever he says. He always talks first before acting and most of the time, what he spits out of his mouth is nonsense , like the tweet he made re: hydroxichloroquine and remdesivir as amazing drugs against COVID-19 while there isn't enough study to support it.

I guess the matches will still be decided by the state on whether to give them the permit or not. Then again, since everyone is already complaining about the economy and not much money going around these days, they might permit the match to proceed on the condition that no live audience would be around. It would kinda seem freaky at first to watch boxing matches with no spectator on the ringside and on the benches, though.
6440  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling issues? Read this! on: May 15, 2020, 08:17:36 PM
As someone who knows a lot of chronic gambler and have referred them to similar services/help, at most, the addicted gambler would comply for the first few sessions but after a while they will just go back and return to their gambling havoc. I don't really disregard such help/aid for addicted gamblers but there's really no one in this world that would help a gambler but himself. Intervention only strengthens the will of the affected individual to continue on and pursue gambling tbh as it gives them a feeling of being singled out for their activity. It only enrages what's inside them, thus rendering them more susceptible to gambling for long hours compared to their status prior to the intervention.

It takes one hard beating to the head of a gambler before he/she realizes that he/she is indeed addicted, and no soft words nor intervention can do that, I'm afraid.
