You know this, right? It's an actual description, not an ad hom. Well, any more than calling a(n actual) nazi a nazi is. I run in pretty diverse circles and have yet to encounter anyone who would describe themselves as such. I would guess that there are a very few, very young dudes hoping to get in the pants of women's studies majors that might do so...like maybe 2 in Minneapolis/St Paul and 3 in Olympia. The majority of people I encounter actually working on issues of social justice, such as racial or gender equality, very much dislike the people you identify as SJW as they bring bad press and distracting drama. I will admit. it is comforting to paint everyone you disagree with with the same broad brush, but it is intellectually lazy and ultimately hinders a more nuanced understanding of the situation. |
