6421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoin ICO check list (how to know if a project has a legit chance) on: March 02, 2018, 11:12:12 PM
Personally if it looks or smells like Bitcoin (global payment system) I want nothing to do with it.  If it doesn't have real world value..going to help solve a current need/issue VERY SOON...it's just a penny stock and probably worse.  Madness out there.  99% junk.  There will be winners though too.  Albeit few.

Found a great article where the author does a really good job breaking down 4 vital questions you should ask before buying an Alt ICO  -Ref: https://hackernoon.com/5-icos-with-solid-fundamentals-ready-to-rocket-off-the-launch-pad-ca2d8de4fce2

Motive: Why are they doing this? If it’s simply to provide a return on an investment, then buyer beware. If they lay out a clear vision where the value proposition is easily understood this would be a good sign. It should be more than just a “we’re making the world a better place”. This will help it pass the scam test. What really helps pass the scam test is whether or not they have a working product you can take for a test drive.

Experienced Team: What has the team executed on in the past, together? It should first and foremost be technology related. You should be able to quickly look this up on the net. Get them on the phone if possible to see if the team even exists at all. I do this with every team I invest in.

Capital Structure: How much crypto are they offering to the public? Gauging demand for a crypto is key. Not everyone is going to want to take a position in it. These factors should determine how much crypto should be offered to the public. If these numbers are way off then it’s going to be hard for the crypto to move up without enough demand. As a token holder, this is an important aspect to analyze.

Raising the right amount money during their ICO: This connects directly to the point above. If they raise too much money during the ICO, they’re going to have to clear loads of ‘flippers’. These flippers are those that purchase tokens during the ICO and as soon as the team lists the token on the first exchange, they sell right into it creating a massive amount of sell pressure they’ll have to clear before anyone makes any real returns. It can take months and sometimes years before a team can clear sellers like this before the token can appreciate with any kind of real value.
6423  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: For those who think that all ICOs are scams on: March 02, 2018, 09:44:59 AM
Investing in the crypto world isn't that much different investing in the "real" world, they all follow fundamental rules.

but it is VERY different from some real world investment. there are similarities, there is no denying that but for example you can consider shares of some company in stocks market versus an ICO. that company has to actually exist have some value and be doing something for real so that it can create shares and sell them to people so when someone invests in that company they are not investing in thin air.

but when it comes to an ICO it doesn't have to be a real thing, there is no company, there are no teams, it can be literary one person copy pasting code and doing absolutely nothing, and none of them deliver ANYTHING in the end. they are just pure thin air that people gamble on..

You’re first paragraph nailed it. Second, not so much. There are very very Few Alts that have real world value but not many. Cardano and other multi-tear platforms utilizing smart contracts have massive upside if they are to “win” and stay alive and keep innovating. The financial system could greatly benefit from smart contracts like when using escrow and trusts. IOTA and GameCredits corner a particle sector and solely focus on it ..not being a BTC alternative. There’s other examples of coins with teams, real world value, and are more than just smoke..though very very few.

Investing in the crypto world isn't that much different investing in the "real" world, they all follow fundamental rules.

1. Every investment comes with risk, no matter how certain you are.
2. With point 1 being said, do your research. Research the teams of the ICOs you are interested in, read their white papers, have at least basic understanding of the crypto world and see if you have faith in the products that the ICOs are bringing to the table. The more detail you have, the lower the potential risk you need to endure.
3. Once you have done your research and are aware of the uncontrollable potential risk, know that the higher the risk, the higher the reward. So, are you a safe player or do you have the financial freedom to "go big or go home"?

It’s not “that much different” it’s “completely different”. Investing in ICOs is as risky as many equity option types and even riskier than most penny stocks. Here’s what you’re missing..most everything in crypto currency is based on future hopes meaning they tout technology they simply don’t have. Think about it, not even Bitcoin is close to being fully established yet (it just recently implemented the LN and now looks like a payment system yet again).  The very few Alts I like (IOTA, ADA, GameCredits to name most) all have inherent flaws and a lot of kinks to work out. Bitcoin is the only coin to have handled  such massive incoming and outgoing payments..and had issues. How about when the other coins start to gain such popularity? An alt IMO needs two things ..1) too be used for a different purpose than BTC 2) has real world value. You can now drop 98% of ICOs after those two rules. As a licensed advisor I don’t recommend taking OPs misguided advice.

6426  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to sell Bitcoin on your Cell Phone from a Paper Wallet on: March 02, 2018, 02:28:00 AM
If anyone out there is curious about this process (which I recently just went through) to sell Bitcoin on your cell phone from a paper wallet -than this thread is for you. I’ll lay it out step by step -

1) You need to check and see if you have any forked coins (shitcoins) here: http://Forkexplorer.com  AND http://www.findmycoins.ninja/

-If you plan to redeem those coins you can read about how to do so here:

Bitcoin Cash- https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/beginners-guide-claiming-your-bitcoin-cash-and-selling-it/

Bitcoin Gold- https://99bitcoins.com/how-to-claim-bitcoin-gold-btg-guide/

Bitcoin diamond/SuperBitcoin etc- https://steemit.com/cryptocurrency/@olsm/how-to-claim-bitcoin-diamond-bcd-super-bitcoin-sbtc-and-bitcoin-gold-btg

2) Now once you are ready to transfer your Bitcoin to an exchange to sell

-Download Mycelium app

3) Once downloaded open app and click on “Coldstorage”
-scan private key QR code
-Make sure you click “SWEEP ALL FUNDS”- THIS IS VITAL !!!
-type in the wallet’s public address in which you wish to transfer bitcoin in order to sell
-Confirm it hits your new address and you’re ready to sell

4) Void paper wallet-No reason to use again & remember Satoshi said to never use a private key twice!
Well if your phone having a highest storage you can download apps for sellinh and buying bifcoins but its just you wait a time than other gadgets like laptop its just a faster than cellphone and its easy to touching keyboard

I would recommend trying not to use a computer when doing anything with your crypto when possible (besides making paper wallets on a PC that has never seen the internet (while offline) as well as you need to use a non-wifi printer that's never connected to the internet / as well as when using a hardware wallet obviously you have to).  Cell Phones are much safer than windows pc's  (I'm sure you could prob. make a strong case for Mac computers being pretty safe however ).
6427  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: How to sell Bitcoin on your Cell Phone from a Paper Wallet on: March 02, 2018, 02:25:08 AM
Is there any reason to name as Wallet the process of putting your private key on paper? I think this confuses a lot of people who are new and always have to explain better that paper wallet works more like a pig bank than an ordinary wallet. Some people face some difficulty in understanding that in the paper wallet it is recommended to use one only time and that you need to go through a few steps before using your BTC. Maybe calling Cold Storage on paper would be better.

Anyway, thank you for the tutorial. The explanation is very simple and I will always recommend it.

Is this helpful? It's important to leave paper wallet in there...paper wallets and hardware wallets (like trezor) are the two best ways to store your coins and really other ways are not recommended (like leaving coins on exchanges such as Coinbase or hot wallets like Blockchain or Mycelium).

They can't even post a normal shared link that you must click to open/view?
They can post the link, but not "attach" the image in the thread.

That's what I figured.  Thx

Thank you my dear friend.
But after I Upload a few photos on iMGUR, how can I attached them to the forom?
Thanks
Mark
You can't (yet) because you are still a Newbie.

You need to be at least Jr. Member or pay to become a Copper Member. Then, just use this:

Code:

They can't even post a normal shared link that you must click to open/view?

Once you upload photo, then hover of the picture with your mouse and you'll get the link to pop up on the top right.  Click on Get Share Links.  Then click copy on BBCode Forums (or simply click on the Copy button next to the link, or highlight link and click copy, or Ctrl C).

6440  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Effect Of BitCoin Fees Dropping Significantly on: February 25, 2018, 08:03:18 AM
Personally I prefer facts over opinions.  The Lighting Network has just begun and it is already doing amazing things.  You've got to realize that even though fee's and transaction times have gotten better, they will continue to do so.  SegWit hasn't even been added to Coinbase's platform yet.  Lighting Network has probably been added to none at this point.  Imagine when all wallets and exchanges have added both technologies.. this are going to get REALLY good.

Here is an EASY to read write up on how the Lighting Network works- https://medium.com/@melik_87377/lightning-network-enables-unicast-transactions-in-bitcoin-lightning-is-bitcoins-tcp-ip-stack-8ec1d42c14f5
