6421  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: You can't prove if someone is Holding Bitcoins | Indian Crypto Ban on: July 26, 2019, 02:41:16 AM
Being an Indian citizen, I am very worried nowadays. This proposed bill, if signed in to law is going to be disastrous. And it is very easy to get a search warrant in India. The cops may take away your laptop and mobile phone, and they will be able to prove that you own multiple cryptocurrencies. If you refuse to co-operate, then you can be charged with contempt of court.
So that's how the government can really implement the rules, if in anyhow this laws got approved it will automatically give the authorities to search things out especially those people who they suspecting that still continuing to do this practice and still working with cryptos, it's a sad truth that if rules got implemented there's no way for crypto lovers from that place to avoid such harassment.

There are a few loopholes. But none of them are 100% risk-free. If you want to reside in India, then I would suggest that you don't deal in cryptocurrency. The legal system here is fucked up. Someone who is accused of evading $100 in taxes may get a 5 year prison term, while a criminal who has been convicted of child rape may be out in 3 months. That's how the system works here. I am seriously considering immigrating to another country, in case they ban Bitcoin here.
6422  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will Bitcoin remains the king of Crypto Market? on: July 26, 2019, 02:36:14 AM
For now and up to the next few years, there seems to be no other coin that can outperform Bitcoin.  Because bitcoin already has a very strong community

Most of the altcoins also have large and loyal communities. For example, the prank coin DOGE is having one of the largest communities among the cryptos. But it is not going to guarantee anything. Coins such as NEO, ADA and TRX have some of the largest user-communities. And still they went down by more than 95% during 2018-19.

To be sure there are other factors that make bitcoin still superior compared to other coins.  One of them might be because, bitcoin is considered a pioneer of crypto currency

Obviously that is the most important fact. But in this case, I was replying to the OP who claimed that having a large and dedicated community has worked to the advantage of Bitcoin. While what he said may be true, I don't agree here that having a big community has helped Bitcoin in a big way. On the other hand, the lack of consensus among this same community has resulted in many hard forks and the forked out coins are now commanding a market share close to 3%.
6423  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: IEO can be a safer investment option than ICO on: July 26, 2019, 02:33:31 AM
What has happened earlier to the ICOs are repeating with the IEOs as well. At first, when there were a few IEOs, the quality was maintained and most of them were good ones. But now too many IEOs are getting listed and the quality has gone down. Even little known exchanges with just a few thousand users are allowing IEOs in their platform. My advice is to stay away from both the ICOs and IEOs. It is not worth to take the risk, unless something drastic happens and the situation improves.

I do not see other projects better, and remove signature of the current campaign . I was lazy because the market did not have a signal and the previous bounties I had not received token

It happens very frequently here and it has happened to me also. I was part of the Adab bounty campaign. Worked on it for at least 4-5 months and then came to know that it was a scam. I was really frustrated and decided not to participate in bounties anymore. But after sometime, I got a chance to participate in a good signature campaign, and decided to enroll in it. Most of the users are not that lucky. I know a few users who have participated in half a dozen bounties, without getting the rewards from any of them.

I have some very good news for you guys!!!!

Subhash Chandra Garg (Economic Affairs Secretary), who was behind this draft bill have been fired by the government. One government official stated that his performance as the EAS was not satisfactory enough, and therefore he was transferred to another department. Mr. Garg refused to take the new role, and instead opted for voluntary retirement.

Ireland got a great team of bowlers who managed to slow down England batsmen else with 1 wicket down, they were looking to get over 300 runs but now they are struggling to get 280. Only 3 wickets to take and then Ireland can easily win this match with about 150-160 to chase down.

If England lose this match, they'll say Ireland have great bowlers Cheesy

Looking at the seam movement and bounce, I would say that even 150 is going to be difficult for Ireland. But we are not done with the England innings yet. Broad and Curran are good batsmen, and if they build a partnership, then they will be able to rescue the team from trouble. But disturbingly, none of the English batsmen has shown any patience or determination to stay at the crease. They seems to be in T20 mode.
6429  Other / Archival / Re: Is KYC benefit to crypto people or not on: July 25, 2019, 04:22:50 PM
KYC trend of state and public policy. The goal of the state is to preserve power, it exercises this through control of the population and control of monetary funds. Cryptocurrency removes cash flows from under this control, in view of this the state complicates the processes associated with cryptocurrency.
Every state feels the threat about bitcoin, but if its a regulations then why not. Its hard to adopt cryptocurrency if there’s no support its just like the ETF, that is until now no final result from the SEC which makes more investors to doubt about it. KYC can benefit both market, but it should only implemented by a good project.
But KYC is not only applied in crypto, many industries, businesses, applications and many others apply KYC for their rules. is not only as a rule that must be adhered to, but KYC is indeed useful to reduce crime and abuse rates. I agree with you that KYC does seem detrimental to the privacy of users, but the benefits will be enormous for the future of crypto

I don't agree with this part. If some bounty hunter want to convert his $10 worth of crypto, then he has to go through the KYC process. How is this going to reduce the crime rate? Please enlighten me. And at the same time, the exchange owners don't need to undergo any of this. If they flee with customer funds worth $30 million, the cops will be clueless as they have no idea about their real identities.
6430  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pacquiao Vs Mayweather 2 on: July 25, 2019, 04:16:52 PM
I will repeat, Floyd vs Manny 2 looks very unlikley as of now, as Mayweather has mocked any chances of that in his recent instagram post. Floyd is 42 and he is not going to fight anyone, much less Pacquiao. Amir Khan is another low possibility, after Manny denied the rumor after his fight against Thurman. In all possibility, it is going to be Errol Spence Jr., sometime in 2020.
6431  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 25, 2019, 04:11:41 PM
6th gone and England is leading by 113 runs only. The match is now having some more interest. Root is fighting hardly, if Ireland can manage him, target will not be more than 200 I think. This is a big chance for them.

7th gone and England leading by 117 runs. If Ireland can restrict the Brits to a lead of less than 150, then they will be having the advantage. However, any score above that will be very difficult under the current circumstances. Woakes can bat, and Sam Curran is not really a tail ender. So hope is still not lost for England. What they need to do is to bat patiently.
6432  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-07-19] Bitcoin Declared Legal Commodity in Chinese Court on: July 24, 2019, 05:36:39 PM
I am not very familiar with the Chinese legal process, but I suspect that this "Shenzhen Arbitration Commission" is not a high ranking judicial body. The name indicates that it is not even a proper court. And I don't think that any decision by this Commission has the power to override or nullify the decision taken by the Chinese financial ministry.
6433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Coins Delisting on: July 24, 2019, 05:30:27 PM
These are private exchanges and we can't force them to keep supporting a certain coin. They are not obliged to do so. Many of the exchanges charge a certain fee to list altcoins. This fee can be a one time payment, or a monthly payment. If the latter case is true, then I suspect that the promoters might have stopped paying the listing fee and this might have forced the exchange to delist the coin.
6434  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: When altcoin price increase on: July 24, 2019, 05:23:26 PM
When bitcoin price increasess, altcoin decreases. When bitcoin price decreases, altcoin decreases as well. In both case, altcoin suffers. When does altcoin price increases? Why market follow this behavior? Please share constructive reason behind this.

You are talking about the prices versus BTC. But against USD, most of the alts have gone up during the last few months. For example, ETH has gone up by more than 100% and Litecoin has gone up by 230%. The issue here is that BTC has gone up by even more against USD. But we may be witnessing some improvement in the situation. For example, the Bitcoin dominance has gone down to 64.4% from 66.6% in a few days.
6435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Trump's statement against cryptocurrency on: July 24, 2019, 05:19:40 PM
Yes, listen to Trump is to fool yourself. How many times did he make any loud statements on any occasion, and after a couple of days he did everything, on the contrary, without a twinge of conscience. He is a showman and it's time to get used to his baseless statements. Let's see what will happen this time.

His statements may be baseless, but the fact remains that he is the president of the most powerful country in the world and his social media accounts are being followed by tens of millions of people. Although his mention was mostly negative, I am stressing more on the positives that could come out of his statement. Let's take this as free publicity that came at no extra cost.
6436  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 24, 2019, 05:09:52 PM
OMG!!! Looks like everyone has misunderstood what I had posted earlier.

I was saying that since Ireland is a neighboring country, England will agree to play against them once every two or three years. I was not saying that England would lose the match intentionally, to show their neighborly love (sic).

Ireland gets one test every one or two years. And it will be very cruel to say that England got all out for 85 not because of good bowling by the Irish pacers, but due to some match fixing.  Huh
6437  Economy / Speculation / Re: How much do you think the President’s recent comments have hurt bitcoin prices? on: July 24, 2019, 03:46:30 PM
Know what? This can be a win-win situation for us. Considering how polarized the society in the US has become, I have a feeling that the Democrats will start supporting crypto if Trump badmouths it. And remember, the Democrats got more votes than the Republicans during the POTUS elections of 2016, and they swept most of the larger states such as California, NY and Washington.
6438  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Test Cricket Prediction and Discussion Thread [self - mod] on: July 24, 2019, 03:36:13 PM
If Ireland could get to a score above 200, then they'll be in a realistic position to beat England. I have a feeling that the Brits took Ireland very lightly and used this test as an opportunity to give some of the younger players a test cap. In the end, it is turning out to be a humiliation. The world champions (debatable whether they really won the cup or not) have been bowled out for a two digit score.

I can't believe what I am seeing today. Remember England are the World Cup winners and how come their team get all out against Ireland in less than 100 runs. This is just not imaginable. If Ireland manage to win this test match, It will be a big setback for the England team.

I don't think that the ECB really cares about this match. Since Ireland is their neighbor, they feel obliged to grant them one test every two or three years. The results probably doesn't matter, as the TV revenue is likely to be near zero. But still, an innings defeat can be very humiliating for them. Also, another thing to note here is that only four of those who played the world cup finals for England are participating in this match.

Update: One more wicket down, as Stirling is out. Ireland leading by 47, with 7 wickets in hand.

As we have noticed till now, the countries where the national currency is very strong are more relaxed about the emergence and growing acceptability of Bitcoin. Examples are Japan and Switzerland. In both cases, the national currencies are quite strong and they are not manipulated at the forex markets. On the other hand, countries such as China and India are very hostile to BTC, as their national currencies are manipulated.
6440  Economy / Economics / Re: Crimes involving crypto have risen on: July 24, 2019, 03:25:11 PM
The most important thing to note here is that the criminals are not getting away. They are getting caught and indicted for their crimes. Past few years have seen a lot of the criminals who have used cryptocurrency for their own illegal activities biting the dust. The most important ones being Alexander Vinnik, Ross Ulbricht, Hugh Brian Haney, Joel Ortiz, Blake Benthall, Brian Farrel.etc.

I would say that the cryptocurrency domain is getting cleansed with the arrest of each of these criminals. I have no sympathy for them. They tarnished the reputation of Bitcoin and made the legalization difficult to attain.
