6441  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: WTF Avalon? Ship the Chips! on: August 12, 2013, 12:02:53 PM
Since i was mentioned a couple of times... our groupbuy is parted regarding refund. Half would take one, the other not. This might change with time. At the moment the chips still would ROI and a compensation should be given but if the chips are too delayed and he dont want to refund we have to sue him of course.
Im not happy with the situation naturally too. I mean its near that we lost 50% of the income we would have gotten. And thats not funny at all.
6442  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Incoming Avalon News 8/9/2013 on: August 11, 2013, 10:51:20 PM
I really can't believe my eyes seeing people jumping into "replace non-delivered gen #1 with gen #2" business.

I think its not the best idea too since even when they are delivered in 2 months and the GH is half the price of a GH of gen1 you would make an even worse trade since the difficulty will then be 150 to 200 percent higher which means you would have less than before.

That depends on spec doesn't it? I may have missed something here. Has that been confirmed?

No info as far as i read, i only took the "half price" from the other companies that seems to have their offers in that range.

Do you believe the chips are stuck in customs?

maybe I'm wrong, but if anything stuck on customs, it is usually in the country of receiver.

Maybe its customs from Taiwan to China because the chip foundry is in Taiwan?

This company has existed only since 6-13-2013?  What?!?

http://www.compinfo.info/hk/1927648/UNI-GLORY_INTERNATIONAL_LOGISTICS_CO.,_LIMITED

Im not sure what this means. I hope not that its one of the companies that constantly crash and rebuilt their own company under a new name to prevent being reached by the law. German customs often have problems with copyright infringing companies at trade shows. If they have reached something against a company this company doesnt exist anymore but instead a company with nearly the same name, the same products and the same people inside.
6443  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Incoming Avalon News 8/9/2013 on: August 11, 2013, 10:41:03 PM
We don't know if there are any chips at any customs. No proof for it was ever provided.

Customs story is really unimportant, since only a small amount of chips is allegedly being there, and they are held for two weeks. Large majority of chips never had customs problems and are late much more than this minority (allegedly) spent in customs. So forget about the customs, they are not the problem - Yifu is.

On top... the chips are in customs only 2 weeks. That means he is 3 weeks late already on top. So no, the customs are not the problem.
6444  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Work in progess] Burnins Avalon Chip to mining board service on: August 11, 2013, 10:36:52 PM
When i think about the setup with the cables... connecting a second board this way would mean that the power would flow completely through the first board until it goes to the second one.
No, it doesn't flow through the entire PCB and its power conveter circuits. It will flow just through the PCB traces between the PCI-E connector and the green power connector. As burnin states, these few cm of traces between those 2 connectors are rated for the current of 2 boards (1 non-overclocked board about 40W, so the traces are rated probably for 80-100 W at 12V, which would mean 6-7 A).

So its the same flow of energy like you would power the board through the green connector directly like you have it when pushing 2 times the wattage in per atx and take one half of it out of the green connector again.
Wouldnt it then be possible to not connect the solid cables to the green connector but instead directly to the atx-incoming-power? Then there are no pcb-parts in between that could brake and the attached cables could draw the power to the other boards. I mean that would be the same like using atx-y-cables isnt it? Of course im not sure if such kind of DIY wouldnt involve a portion of risk.

DHL tells me they want to bring my miners to me tomorrow.

30 days? WTF are you smoking? Seriously. They are already 37 days behind on some of the orders give them another 30? Fuck me. How about you just let then ship whenever they want? The deal was 9 - 10 weeks. If they failed to do that they are in breach of contract. We need refunds. Full stop. If we don't get refunds we boycott them as hard and vigorously as we can so that we will seriously disrupt the GEN2 chip sales and hurt them on the bottom line and we do that until we are all adequately compensated. Anything less and you are being suicidal.

http://support.avalon-asic.com/ <--- START A REFUND TICKET here.

Such refund ticket, is for B2B clients such as SebastianJu, SteamBoat & Zefir. So far only SebastianJu seems to speak up.
I know the others are not sitting happily in their boats, but they should be the ones asking for our refund..

Our group put in a refund ticket 6 days ago. No reply.

wow.. i hope all groupbuys does it. SebastianJu?

Not until its lost. The chips are still getting roi so most of the members dont want a refund. This might change with time of course. But fighting yifu now only might lead to him blocking even more. Forcing him to deliver is ok, but pure hate, fighting wont lead to the best results i think.
Of course, if he delays the chips so far that the wont ROI and if he dont want to give refund i will have to sue him.

I wonder what would be the risk when a psu has for example 400W at one 12A line and i would power one board directly and 3 others with cables? I could use 3mm speaker cables if that helps...

You risk that the weakest part melts.
The power for the 3 others has to go through the PCB from the direct connection to the green terminal then.
burnin already recommended to only connect two boards and use solid wires. I would just follow his recommendations.

I took solid as stable and not static and i still wonder whats the difference. In theory the size of the copper inside tells how easy the electrons can wander inside. So i cant see what difference would there be.

When i think about the setup with the cables... connecting a second board this way would mean that the power would flow completely through the first board until it goes to the second one. In case i overclock the first board would have to take up to 200W and the second 100W. Burnin mentioned that some parts regarding the voltage already is at its limit with such high overclocking/overvolting. So would this setup not be possible for overclocking or are there no parts involved that get at their limits with that overclocking?
6448  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Incoming Avalon News 8/9/2013 on: August 10, 2013, 04:26:25 PM
Someone needs to keep ringing him until he picks up, surely someone has a number for him?

I tried this for days, 2-4 times each hour. 80% of the time it let it ring out for 30 seconds, the rest he clicks you away. He wont answer for sure. And his voice recorder is useless too. The only way to get something to his attention is writing a ticket with a header he is interested in. But dont await an answer!
6449  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Get a REFUND from Yifu for Avalon chips on: August 10, 2013, 02:33:55 PM
People will buy your preorder slots at more than what you paid at the moment. If you are dissatisfied, sell your chip orders.

Dear dddbtc,

I have Avalon chips on order.  I will sell them to you at cost.  Do you accept?

waiting

Did you open a sales thread? I do escrow a change a lot owners over the last weeks.
6450  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: TechnoBit Eastern Europe, BG Klondike assembly/Платки имонтаж на Авалон чип on: August 10, 2013, 02:16:25 PM
Will the K16 also be capable of running faster like the HEX version?
And
Will the HEX be ready the same time as the K16? I mean K16 was further in development as i readed in this thread?

Its most probably the opposite. Klondike is not able of running at high clocks since the parts arent ready for this. The HEX already were test-run at 450MHz but i wait for tests too before i would buy.

Turn your back on the forum for 2 hours and *BAM* tons of problems.

BenTuras you need to terminate the CAN-BUS on both ends, there have to be two jumpers placed on the pins next to the LEDs.
read my mail for details.

You can also power 2 boards with just one single power cord by connecting the second one via standard wires:

Cool... thats my route then... easy way.
Edit: How many boards can i connect this way? Theoretically so much like the 12A-connector from the psu can deliver?
Bridging 2 Boards like that is safe.
If you are not doing heavy overclocking you could do 3 but i would not recommend it.
Use 1.5mm^2 or thicker SOLID copper cable for the bridges.

I am currently working on the Instructions manual.

I would run them at nearly 100W each... i guess its a good way to save at least some parts. I wonder what would be the risk when a psu has for example 400W at one 12A line and i would power one board directly and 3 others with cables? I could use 3mm speaker cables if that helps...

Yes of course it would be better than nothing.

My vote would be to explain the chip boxes (i added the link in my post above now) and where those chips went to, ship the chips fast or refund in full since in some weeks its too late to get the investment back with mining. (And who the heck wants to invests 100€, puts much work into it only to get 100€ out of it at the end?) The difficulty is rising from 62% to 75% per month already. Its possible next time it is 100% a month. See: http://mining.thegenesisblock.com/

I think yifu had plenty of time and experience to know how long it takes to get the chips. When i see the boxes my guess is that the chips already were created but someone bought them away. Yifu thought he could order new ones fast and now they are overdue...

Ok, a refund would then be the best option. I'm curious, the address you sent the payments too? have they still not touched those coins at all? That would make their lives very easy suddenly, just return the coins into our wallets, and they can go on with their lives just as this did not happened. Announce a product in stock ,and sell out the stock (like production and selling should be)..

Refunds it seems is not really an option (at least according to Yifu a little while ago)...

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=240189.msg2563031#msg2563031

Might be true if bitinstant is collecting the payments from one customer, in this case bitsyncom, in one address. Then it wouldnt be yifus address and he got paid out from another address.
6453  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Incoming Avalon News 8/9/2013 on: August 09, 2013, 09:30:44 PM
I checked the payment for the 5 batches in our groupbuy and 4 went to this address: https://blockchain.info/de/address/1FGAftzSTztFSB8LMwsrdCKTyqGY6zr3sU

The 5th, which in fact is our second batch, is still in the address i sent it to. It must be a bitpay controlled address. Maybe yifu didnt took it out or bitpay gave him other bitcoins.

But that should prove that this address isnt the only one containing chip batch payments.

6456  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [POLL/VOTE] What should Avalon do with our past due orders? on: August 09, 2013, 09:09:35 PM
The difficulty is rising 75% each month at the moment. 30% more chips wont help in more than one way. 30% more chips does not cover the less mining income next month and these 30% are only the price for the chips. Those are not complete miners. That means you have to pay the assembly too on top. Without rebate.

And next gen? How will the GH priced compared to those chips now? Lets pretend the old chips come mid august. When the 2. gen chips are the half price per GH, but come 2 months later you will have an even worse trade than with the old chips. Because when your miner is ready the difficulty probably is 300-400% higher. Your half price means nothing then anymore. Plus, the price of the chips might half, but the assembly cost not.

So i think its either ship the chips fast or refund in full. I doesnt care when the chips cant be sold anymore, there were plenty of time to order, which obviously happened, there were many chips created already... they only didnt found the way to us. So i dont care if the chips cant be sold anymore.

I see your point. However, 30% more chips delivered, within 30 days, is 30% more than 0%.. It is at least some kind of help, to see that they do take some responsibility and try and fix the problem, and not play the blame game.

And i am curious SebastianJu, you as a groupbuyer (and an active forum member), what would be your vote?

Yes of course it would be better than nothing.

Didnt get the shipment today but looks good your stack there...

Can you tell me what power-y-cable you used?
I ordered the psu that Bitburner has on his website. It has cables for in total 8 boards.

I don't believe Yifu will offer refund option, as it is against terms of sales they posted.

http://store.avalon-asics.com/?page_id=9605
6. made to order from TSMC foundry, this also means no refunds.

I also think chips are still fine in terms of ROI, and this delay was something we could expect.
So far I haven't paid assembly to burnin, but will do once chips are at his doorstep.
In my opinion Bitcoin community should support and appreciate effort that burnin and other respectable DIY gurus have made and not think solely on profit and ROI.
At the end how can we expect Bitburner xx with new generation of Avalon or any other company chips if we back up and leave burnin to burn at stake alone!?
To back up from burnin's design might be as good as putting a nail in his assembly business coffin for good.

I think the noise we make with our batches are on a high level since our first batch is 2 weeks late only. But its the bad experience like BFL that made the community hypersensitive to such things. Its a good thing i think. But its too early to fight Yifu with police, sueing and so on. That can follow if he dont deliver and doesnt refund.

What i really want to know from him is what happened to the 135 packets with chips we saw.
