Wetin una think say this development/adoption to contribute to bitcoin community?
This na just how some bitcoiners fit advertise what Bitcoin is to people, I believe say e go help just for more awareness of waiting Bitcoin be, but Bitcoin don go viral as of now, all country of the world get many citizens wey know about Bitcoin, but to use ham na the issue at times as many no dey literate to the extent they go know how to buy Bitcoin.

As to what I read for the link you posted, many people don already donate, while even $1 donation dey accepted, and this go be a welcomed development. Also that 70% of the donated money go be for Bitcoin open-source development while 30% will go for ensuring the car is funded. But that not all, I get confused with a point not clear:

I proposed 70% of all donations go towards funding open-source Bitcoin development and the other 30% will ensure the car is funded. Once we have obtained the necessary capital to fund the car, the 30% will then be donated to local Indianapolis charities such as the Riley Hospital for Children. I urged Ed and his team to give it some thought and sleep on it. If he was on board, I’d give it all I got. Ed called me the next day, “I’m in”.
I hope you get waiting I dey try imply? How 30% go be for funding the car and also to be donated for charity? Or waiting he meant be say after the car expenses don over already, the remaining 30% funds will go for charity? I think na waiting that means but not well explained.

This na just a suggestion, if this truly dey authentic, why not post ham for Bitcoin discussion? Just for other people for the forum to see ham, especially if certain important user of this forum dey among those involved or among those wey don donate.
6462  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Block explorers oligopoly. on: May 25, 2021, 03:14:52 PM
The best to do in this case is to make use of a wallet that run the full node, like the Bitcoin Core, also making use of it with Tor will improve privacy.

Making a watch-only wallet in my phone would solve this... but am I not leaking addresses that I watch to my lightweight client just the same way i would leak to a block explorer?
SPV servers can still be trusted than blockchain explorers. Explorers will have a way to generate income, selling of information like IP addresses can be one of them.

Many people can not run full node wallet, they have no option than to run SPV wallet, but people can still decide not to make use of blockchain explorer and be able to track transactions with txid on their wallets directly. Also making use of SPV wallet with Tor is advisable.

The question I have is that if blockchain explorer can be used with Tor or VPN, I think it should be safe to use it in this way? But yet, it can bring about centralization.
6463  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is there a way to share MEW Wallets with another person securely?? on: May 25, 2021, 02:06:18 PM
You can tell him the seed phrase of your wallet, he too will be able to see the funds and access it after he imported the seed phrase on ethereum wallet. But this can lead to scam, because anyone one of you can move the fund, he can decide to scam you by moving the funds to another wallet. You too can scam him/her this way. So not recommended.

The best you can do is to create a 2-of-2 multisig wallet, I believe there should be ethereum wallet that can do that. On multisig wallet, both of you can see the balance and be able to track your transaction history, but you will need the permission of your friend before you will be able to transfer funds on the multisig wallet. If your friend also want to transfer funds from the multisig wallet, he will also need you permission.

The question is, what is the best ethereum multisig wallet you can use? I hope ethereum users will be able to tell you one. Wait for their response.

For privacy reasons, e go make sense to just update us her bank account details for Telegram to send the money. We have heard yyou conversation on phone call which is transparent enough. I think all of we na don agree to send the money.

We see percentage hovering around 90%.
This bode well for next period, with all. the known caveats about how this website computes the harshpower!
Yes, but as I checked it recently, the percentage is now over 96%

BTC.com has signalled with all of their last 7 blocks!
I noticed Rawpool are signalling already, also most likely that BTC.com are fully signalling.

I no dey too use Konga I think I don't really like their products e time wey I been compare their prices Konga market cost pass Jumia own even their shipping fees too so ever since na jumia I dey like shop anytime I want do online shopping sha.
I know say konga shipping fee take 250 naira pass Jumia shipping fee before, I dey talk of the time when the the fee na 1250 naira for Konga and 1000 naira for Jumia, but e don long I order, so I no know the price again. I no dey sure about Jumia, but there was a time before when if I wan order five products for Konga, only 1 shipping fee they will take, but now na the whole five item shipping fee they go take now, one of the reason I no dey use online mall unlike before, I don't know if Jumia dey work like that.

I dey check the two sites, e just be like say Jumia get product pass Konga but that no mean Konga no get almost all people wan buy, but I like the kind service Konga dey give me pass Jumia. Another thing about Jumia why I no use them again be say you can order for blue, they go bring green, Konga never do ham for me before.

About products price, it depends. I no wan use smart watch compare the price, but you fit take look of the hardware wallet I posted recently. At times, konga product go dey cheap while at times Jumia product go dey cheap. But I noticed Jumia product always dey cheap often pass Konga sa, but I dey believe the authenticity of Konga product, and the fee difference not that much.

6468  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto is our last hope for financial independence - John McAfee on: May 25, 2021, 06:22:26 AM
What I think is that China has been hostile towards many issues in the past, John McAfee is making this statement because of recent Chinese government moves against cryptocurrencies, even likely want to ban mining. Chinese government have been so self-centered about a lot in the past, as the whole world make use of common non-Chinese apps like the social media app like Facebook, WhatsApp and the likes, Chinese ban all such foreign social media generally, not even only the apps, Chinese government has been hostile against cryptocurrencies to the extent exchanges like Binance has to move their hard quarter out of China into another country. I have not seen this as war yet because that is how Chinese since long time. I believe the North America will always welcome cryptocurrencies, they only look after censoring it which many people that want privacy do not want, but not like Chinese government that only care about what is theirs, like the digital Yuan they want to create.
6469  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Coinbase/Trust wallet usdt on: May 24, 2021, 09:40:40 PM
Send certain small amount of ethereum like $5 to $10 into trust wallet, this will be used as fee. I will advice you not to use ERC20 again for USDT because the fee is too high. It is better you use TRC20 in which Tron blockchain will be used and you will need to pay Tron, less than $1 worth of Tron will be used as fee.

Nice translation. I have bought a smart watch like that before when I helped a friend to ordered it using my Konga account, Jumia in Nigeria is one of the online stores to buy this type of smart watch, but Jumia has been really disappointed me before, so I prefer to make use of Konga, I can even easily be able to get the phone number of sellers directly on Konga which I can call to make the delivery as fast as possible, Konga store has been the best for me.

About the smart watch, it do has a Bluetooth it uses to get notifications from mobile phones, notification like text messages, email messages, WhatsApp messages and messages from Telegram and the likes. It will be perfect to receive notification from Bitcointalk through Telegram bot.

Please, try to check the last link you posted, I think it needs correction. Or, is the fault from my end?
6471  Economy / Reputation / Re: I got a question for not paying project. on: May 24, 2021, 07:23:03 PM
Q1. Is their any solutions from Bitcointalk Forum team if any project not pay Bounty hunters after completing Bounty and successful?
Scam is not moderated on this forum.

19. Possible (or real) scams and Trust ratings are not moderated (to prevent moderation abuse).

Q2. Is it possible to take action against this type of project together?
The best you can do is to create a flag about the project, also leaving the project a negative trust will be fine. If other members see the flag valid, they will support it.

But know that the money not paid can not be pad agian, only the bounty manager can pay it and if not given, he will not be able to pay for it. That is why it is better to work with a bounty manager that has be escrowed funds to be paid for certain period of time.
6472  Economy / Economics / Re: Elon Musk really has the ability to manipulate the bitcoin market on: May 24, 2021, 07:05:12 PM
I thought that as well as soon as I heard that nonsense about bitcoin not being "green" enough for him.  Dogecoin isn't exactly green itself, yet Musk had no problem hyping that coin up--and yeah, there's no doubt he understood how bitcoin was mined before he publicly lent his support to it before withdrawing it.  It does indeed look like he was trying to manipulate the market for his own gain (though looks can be deceiving, and that certainly might not be the only reason for his quick turnabout).
It is very obvious that Elon Musk is trying to manipulate the market. As we all know he is a man that knows much about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in general, even if he did not know about Bitcoin mining, we all know how he can easily get information about it and know Bitcoin mining mostly make use of green energy. The man is trying to manipulate and want his favorite coin, doge to be in place of Bitcoin, even if ethereum has been unable to do that, he will try harder but not achieving that.

He says Tesla will be accepting coins that make use of less than 1% of the enegy Bitcoin uses for mining, although Doge make use of PoW too, but it fit into that category, and used the privilege to form together that false news about Bitcoin. The man is certainly manipulating as he may want people to fomo and buy more Doge.

Also this is one of his tween after making such false statement about Bitcoin

6473  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Businesses banning the vaccine. on: May 24, 2021, 05:03:06 PM
The standard three phase trials have been completed. Trials data have been published and are available to anyone. The vaccines are safe. Where does '4 years' come into it?
I am talking about phase 4, and this will last for years. This is the phase the scientists are now, checking the side effect of the vaccine. Phase 3 is good for the administration of the vaccine but vocid vaccine were made in rush which makes phase 4 to be the best. But, I can not even still use it, when no one in my whole state and neighboring stats are having the desease.

For that, you need the vaccine.
Let me quote some important content in a news for you.

Covid-19 vaccines: Why some African states can't use their vaccines

Quote
Despite many African countries struggling to obtain enough Covid-19 vaccines, some have thousands of expired doses which they have been unable to use.

Some countries are now destroying these vaccines, in line with the latest World Health Organization (WHO) advice.

Quote
Malawi has destroyed almost 20,000 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine, while South Sudan has 59,000 doses which it also plans to discard. The vaccines had been donated through the African Union but had not been administered by their expiry date of 13 April.

Quote
The Democratic Republic of Congo, meanwhile, says it cannot use most of the 1.7 million AstraZeneca doses it received under the global Covax scheme for poorer countries. Only about 1,000 of the doses had been administered by the end of April. Most of this batch - with an expiry date of 24 June - is now being sent to other countries, with some already delivered to Ghana and Madagascar.

Quote
The South African government decided not to use them, concerned the vaccine offered insufficient protection from the variant prevalent in the country.

Quote
Nigeria, meanwhile, said it would be unable to use all the doses in time. So some were reassigned to neighbouring Togo and Ghana.

Quote
The WHO says only Togo and The Gambia have confirmed they used all these doses by the expiry date.

And information about what has happened to the rest is currently unavailable.

To read the news in full:
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.com/news/56940657.amp

I do not bother about the reason why people were not using it than maybe the complain from some people that have used it, such as blood clotting, and the new variant that might surfaced. Although, I may be wrong.
6474  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Businesses banning the vaccine. on: May 24, 2021, 03:07:22 PM
The video is quite interesting. What I know very well about what was mentioned about the side effect of the vaccine is the blood clotting issue, which might lead to other side effects. There has been several cases of the vaccine truly causing blood clotting which is not a mild to moderate condition but severe one. Also there has been reported cases of people that died after taken the vaccine.

The vaccine supposed to take years of experimental researches before giving it to anyone, in my opinion, I see people taken the vaccine now as lab rats because there are still researches going on about the vaccine effect on human body, and this will take many years like 4 or more before solid conclusion can be made.

I am not ready to take the vaccine anyway, and thanks to the fact that no infection cases in my state. And that aside, I am not old, Covid 19 is not killing young people, also it is not killing healthy people.

3. If Bitcoin does not succeed as a global payment solution, how likely is it to still be a store of value?
The mainstream global payment you mean here is not necessary before Bitcoin will be a store of value, but it will help in its adoption. What that matters most is for people to see the real fact about Bitcoin and buy it. Know that Bitcoin is not only a payment means, it is also an asset on its own with its limited supply which makes it deflationary and appreciative in value as it is adopted.

3. If Bitcoin does not succeed as a global payment solution, how likely is it to still be a store of value?
I do think about this at times, like if the whole world just go against Bitcoin, this may lead to even mining industry to collapse, forcing all miners not to mine again, ASICs manufacting companies can be mandated no to produce the mining machines again, and the likes. This can lead to crypto extinction generally, but this will significantly affect people negatively, I believe the governments will not want that.

Some people do not like cryptocurrencies, some people really like it, this can not make crypto ban possible. We have seen in some countries as opposition party succeeded for the presidential seat and crypto that was banned were legalized again.

Like in Nigeria, the opposition party leader that contested as the president even supported cryptocurrencies. If he has been the president by now, I believe cryptocurrencies wouldn't have been banned by the CBN. This is just the politics that is going on in the world, people are not the same, countries are not the same, the reason Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies can not be banned. So, there won't be anything like governments coordinating together to ban cryptocurrencies. As some will ban, some will accept, and countries that even support Bitcoin are far more than those than ban it.

Yes, there are ways to exchange bitcoin without centralized exchange.
This is even the best way to go if seeking for privacy, there are decentralized platforms that people do meet to exchange cryptocurrencies like Bsiq, Hodlhold and Localcryptos. There are even platforms like Bitcointalk we can easily trade cryptocurrencies, people that are into crypto for long even know more people they can directly trade crypto with without even using any platform.
6477  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: As a Chinese, talk about my views on the new policy on: May 24, 2021, 09:12:59 AM
Bitcoin was used to counter the regulation of centralized institutions from the beginning, so it will inevitably be cracked down by the government and even criminalized by some governments.
Bitcoin was not used to counter centralized currencies, it is just an alternative. People will still always use Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. If the government are criminalizing cryptocurrencies, it is just like they are criminalizing people's privacy.

1. Due to the arrival of the Bitcoin bull market, many Chinese have joined the Bitcoin market, but most of them have never even heard of Nakamoto.
What does this has to mean? Will Satoshi Nakamoto be the one to buy and sell them bitcoin? Satoshi is just the founder of Bitcoin, but Bitcoin is not controlled by anyone or any central authority.

2. The popularity of Bitcoin mining, as Musk said, has had a negative impact on the environment and energy, forcing the Chinese government to crack down on Bitcoin mining.
Elon Musk is a clown misleading people because I know he knows much about Bitcoin but just want to manipulate and make people to buy Doge. I think you need to read this:

Study: Over 74% of Bitcoin Mining is Powered by Renewable Energy

People will not face the fact, when people are using a service and able to pay for the service, is that what people should be complaning about? And yet Bitcoin almost make use of green energy for mining.

We have known China to be absurd, they do not want to welcome anything not from their country, no foreign social media did they accepted in their country, cryptocurrencies were not even accepted before in China till present. Just know that Bitcoin is not controlled by any country, if China force their miners not to mine Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies again, that is just an opportunity for miners in other countries to buy more miners, also the miners in China will move to other countries.
6478  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: how to transfer Ledger BTC to a new ledger wallet (anonymously) on: May 24, 2021, 07:01:18 AM
If your friend's goal is privacy (from an ex or something along those lines,) she can merely send the funds to an exchange that allows HD addresses, like Coinbase.  Then she can reset her Ledger with a new seed (optional) and send the funds back.  They'll be nearly impossible to trace without a warrant.  Wink
Because of how exchanges are, it won't be advisable, although I understood that exchanges can act like a mixer but they are centralized, and controlled by governmental policies. People's dependent on exchanges makes the government to be controlling people to the extent they are trying to even want to have laws that can make them track individual noncustododial wallets people (citizens) are using. Also the exchange will know the address the Bitcoin is sent to, and some exchanges like to freeze users funds is another reason people should be discouraged from using exchanges for this purpose. The reasons I can not advice anyone to use an exchange for privacy purposes, using exchanges will likely result to privacy invasion and must not be included while thinking of privacy.

The best options are to use CoinJoin, like Wasabi wallet do CoinJoin, or making use of mixers, or converting the Bitcoin first to Monero first and converting it back to Bitcoin in a decentralized way.
6479  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What the CEO of a Gold mining company has to say about Bitcoin on: May 24, 2021, 06:05:19 AM
And this has made Mark Bristow, the CEO of a gold mining company called "Barrick Gold" come up with his comparison to question Bitcoin as no store of value to gold.
I am very disappointed people I thought are educated are making wrong and false statements about Bitcoin. How is Bitcoin not a store of value? The people that hodl are able to know the true nature of Bitcoin. If not just that gold marketcap is still stronger than Bitcoin but yet gold has not given riches to people like bitcoin did in the last 10 years. I will not be surprised if Elon Musk can make such wrong statement about Bitcoin because of Doge, to see this kind of news also seeing wrong statement about Bitcoin because of gold, but I that know the real benefit of Bitcoin would have used it multiple times and have enough of Bitcoin before I can consider to buy gold.

He said that while no one can print new gold into existence, people can still make cryptocurrencies.
Bitcoin is just one of the thousands of cryptocurrencies that are existing. This makes his statement to be completely wrong if comparing Bitcoin to gold, only gold will be continued to be mined, Bitcoin will not be mined again after the whole 21 million Bitcoin is mined, unlike gold, Bitcoin has a limited supply.
6480  Economy / Exchanges / Re: CoinbasePRO Question on: May 24, 2021, 05:32:26 AM
I am trying to set up a limit order to buy Litecoin, but the system is telling me "Insufficient funds" as if it's not linking to my bank account. I never have this issue on regular Coinbase.

I know the funds are there. How can I resolve this??
The funds are where? The bank? Or you have already purchased Litecoin and want to trade?

Know that limit order does not work that way, you will need to have already purchased a coin already before you can make use of limit order to convert from one coin to another. In the case you want to purchase litecoin, not limit order that will be used, use deposit button, but if you want to convert litecoin to another coin on Coinbase Pro, then you can use the limit order for the trade.
