It's volume of buys and sells in litecoin. Red is the volume of sells, green volume of buys.

Just to clarify - it's the volume of *orders* - not actual trades. More correct terminology is "bids" (the green) and "asks" (the red).

Overall - "Market Depth".  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Market_depth

I know I've seen it somewhere in this thread, but I can't locate it now...

Was there an explanation for setting up a masternode with cold storage wallet (maybe even windows wallet?)

Here you go:

Let me say that as one of the brightest people on this thread over the last several hundred pages, I both respect your opinion and an very dismayed at the same time. I think you are letting charts and general malaise cloud your judgment......Based on the above features, we would be looking at a paradigm shift, and I think that the market would react accordingly. Now we don't know how many of those things will be in RC4, but we know from eltito that there's some damn amazing stuff in the works.

Thanks for the generous and constructive reply. I wasn't meaning to be "despondent" in fact I'm it total agreement with you re. the 'paradigm shift' issues in RC4 and future roadmap features. I hope it's also clear that I left the door open in my last analysis for another substantial revaluation.

At the same time, I don't think we can take it for granted and the point I've been trying to ram home over the last couple of months is I don't think people realise what a phenomenal challenge reaching some of these exotic price projections would be. Basically what happens is:

We say: "paradigm shift !, 1000% revaluation please"
Market says: "mildly interesting, you can have 50%"

That's how this game works. We see everything that can go right because we're invested, the market sees everything that can go wrong because it isn't.

Then add to the mix the speculator whales who only jump on for the ride up and who don't give a monkeys about technical developments - they make sure that any rise you do get is cut by 65% right after it pumps.

That's why I changed my whole investing philosophy as far as DRK was concerned (it's still the same for other coins - just make as much BTC as I can). DRK is one of the very few I'd ever get into as an "end station" because when I dis-invested, I didn't enjoy the experienced and I suddenly realised there is a dimension to investing that isn't about accumulation of BTC.

To spell it out another way, I see more fun in being associated with this project and following its development than I do in the amount of BTC gains it makes me. That's party because I've a technical background and things like the masternode technology gives us yet another aspect on our involvement in the whole thing. Then there are these "what's round the corner surprises" then Evan springs out of nowhere which actually turn out to be fairly major evolutions of the technology.

I just checked my trade history and I bought my first DRKs at 0.0015 back in March. This thread was different from other [ANN] threads I was used to like the Blackcoin thread - it was industrious, largely void of "to the moon" type delusional hysteria, constructive and unassuming.  I made a conscious decision to buy 1000 of them which was quite a massive investment for me at the time in an "unknown quantity" that wasn't in the middle of a pump - all of 1.5 BTC. It was the only coin (apart from NXT) where I'd ever done that - actually bet on the long term fundamentals and you know the rest of the story.

So I don't rule out further price evolution based on developments, I'm just saying that as it goes higher other things come into play and we can't just assume the market's going to give us what we want. Out posts should reflect that fact otherwise we'll just invite more of the FUD trying to "put us in our place".

I hope that puts a more constructive perspective on my previous post.

All I did was ask if anyone had seen the article.  It would be interesting to find out how they managed to get that kind of exposure.

Yes indeed. It would be.

Anyone see this article in Reuters about Anonymous Cryptocurrency?

Calling it an "article" is a bit generous. If you check the XC thread, that's actually some XC promotional material written by the XC community and provided as a press release to reuters.

Nothing wrong with that but lets get things in perspective here.
6466  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 06, 2014, 01:04:17 PM
Are you high? If a shitcoin like Litecoin can hit 300 mil, why couldn't a coin with actual utility?

I'm not saying it can't, I'm just speculating about the revaluation potential of RC4. 50%-100% revaluation isn't bad. We're already 5-6 times the cap of the nearest X-Coin competitor so that would put us 8-10 times.

On the other hand, if DRK starts to "pull away" and be seen as some kind of lone challenge to the 2nd place then that might prove to be a very powerful driver. For me that's no more than wishful thinking right now though which is why I'd rather be realistic.

If you can't see the price go up above 0.02 again.. HAHA WTF M8 WHY ARE YOU HERE?!!

Because I don't only invest for the reason that I think I'm going to make multiples of gain. Sometimes investing is an end in itself. I like this project technically, I believe it is the most committed and original long term "anon" project and I'd like to be a part of it which is why I spent time learning about and setting up a masternode. So I won't be ditching my holdings but one thing I hate is mutually reinforced delusional thinking. It happened when we are at 277 - there was some very realistic advice given and dismissed as FUD. There was too much evangelism around to discuss the matter calmly and dispassionately. Yet here we are right where that advice said we were going to be.

We may well see 2+ again but we may well not ever. If people don't admit then they just haven't been trading long enough because that's the nature of the alt coin market who's agenda and priorities move very quickly from one thing to the next. The long term fortunes of this coin will be far healthier if that simple fact is recognised and acknowledged.

If your in need of a reality check, take a look at the history of one of the best and most promising coins ever produced, which had a profile on mainstream BBC news amongst others - Peercoin.

Looks like RC4 might get us back to 0.015 or 2 at the max. I don't see us ever getting above that again.

Need to rely on BTC for the dollar price from now on.

Alternative theories welcome.
6468  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 05, 2014, 12:50:44 PM
You are right the masternode implementation is pathetic - The miners do all the job to secure the network; and the masternode do nothing but collecting fees. This is 'Bank' fees invented again. What innovation?

That is of course a joke of a remark.

But it makes more sense once you see the astounding legacy of sh*tcoins you've been into the last few months.

Duck up 127% on market cap !

6-7 sats on bittrex. 10 BTC buywall.
6470  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 05, 2014, 10:35:57 AM
take a minute out to thank chaeplin with a donation

Done ! Sent him my entire 2-week MN profit, (cos I wouldn't have had it without his help  Wink )
6471  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XDN] duckNote [ANN]. CryptoNote based. Anonymous and CPU only. on: July 05, 2014, 09:47:03 AM
Duck price evolving nicely.

8 BTC buywall now. We're only at 2% of Monero's marketcap. Massive upside. Active dev.

JSON-RPC interface just being discovered.

Just popped up on Marketcap's radar. If it goes to 5 sats it will have a 60% growth indicator in marketcap.

Ducks to da moon !

6472  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 05, 2014, 09:43:18 AM

******* Possible way to get more DRKs: ******

Ducknote (DRK's favourite hedge) coming along nicely.

Now got a JSON-RPC interface for GUI html wallets (already ahead of XMR ?). Lovely, unpumped X-coin, not on Mintpal just popped up on Marketcap radar @ 2% of Monero's market cap, low difficulty. Only upside available.

Tharr will be ducks on da moon 6 sats ! Grin )

0.2 BTC gets you a hefty chunk of the duck money supply ----> convert to DRKs with profit later,

Hey ! What's this guy mining ?  Roll Eyes ..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zmvVZMRcvFE

LTC now dipping into the 10's, but 500 BTC buywall at 10.

I think the Drk-Ltc chain has inevitably snapped. Someone has probably run out of Drks to sell.

They seem to be trading perfectly in sync to me. Both at 11x

I see LTC's  taken another bath today.

The 4 hour chart showed a glimmer of life for 48 hours and then....wallop. All charts now back in dive bomber configuration. 1-day and 3-day have diverged again to the downside - a veritable avalanche in slow motion.

A break of 0.01 in the LTC / BTC ratio is on the horizon in the coming days or weeks and a new number 2 possibly within months.

Who's it gonna be ?
6475  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 04, 2014, 06:03:20 PM
I know how the difficulty works, but RIGHT NOW those are the stats and I'm proposing that RIGHT NOW that is why the price is tanking.  If the hash rate drops an appreciable amount so that mining is significantly easier, don't you think that will drop the value of the coin too?

Masternodes are subject to exactly the same economics as mining - the more there are the less the gain. It isn't a question whether it "works" or not, it's just another way people can service the network and receive compensation for doing so.

As you said yourself, this is the situation *now*, but it will be in a constant state of flux. More miners - difficulty goes up, revenue per hash goes down. More masternodes - network service sector increases, revenue per node goes down.

Ann additional dynamic is that while mining increases the money supply, masternodes *decrease* it and the net effect of this is to increase the price for both holders and miners.

Sidenote: OUCH. My VeniVidiVicci has tanked to a quarter of its value. I didn't enjoy that. (+ didn't offload my XC fast enough after the pump and now can't get rid of it).

it's the one he linked --> http://drk.poolhash.org/masternode.html

Ah !!!

Now it's become clear. You only see that stuff if you put a filter in for the address your interested in.

This suddenly explains everything ! I can see that with enforcement active, I'd have gained another 11 DRK. That's how many payments I've been skipped over due to pools with legacy miner software.

tx_0_vout_1 alone accounts for 7 missing payments.

Fantastic stuff !!!, thanks.

6477  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DRK] DarkCoin | First Anonymous Coin | First X11 | First DGW | Fork for Masternode Payment on: July 04, 2014, 12:28:48 PM
you have been skipped twice by non-participating/non-updated nodes.

darian - would you mind posting the link to that stats page ?

I didn't realise you could detect the Expected Payee even if they'd been skipped and I think I'm experienceing the same problem.

Thanks

once again, couldn't dark just add those features if we wanted? rc5?

I wouldn't add "in wallet trading".

It's a gimmick.

The only reason we'd be adding it would be because another coin did. The real place for that kind of stuff is the NxT network - that's what that cryptocurrency is all about and nobody's going to better their implementation.

DRK should concentrate on it's primary objective, be the best at it and not take its eye off the ball with "in wallet trading" garbage.

Well said earlier.. you have given fair and serious thought to this stuff

LoL...well, to a miner I suppose it might constitute "serious thought"  Cheesy

Ah - your fundamental misunderstanding of decentralized economics.

the traditional models don't apply, and not just in a "oh it only matters a little bit"  way..

in a "write it off its dead, and will never be viable" type way.

Jeez, for an "educator" you really do write one load of guff.

I don't know if you even understand it yourself or just make it up as you go along, but if there was ever any real debate here, you lost it a long time ago.
