So later if I want to copy the article from another website, I just need to write the source ?

Yes whatever forum you go to to post that is what you need to do. Anytime you are using source materials you should be quoting the source, especially when you are copying word for word.

You the person are banned from posting on this Forum outside of Meta. This means you can not create another account and pick up shit posting your plagiarism here under a new account.

Take a look at his/her post history. He's already evading the ban...
I just can't understand how people do this without feel embarrassed by their own behavior.
6482  Other / Meta / Re: Merits "a penny for your thoughts" on: July 04, 2018, 04:22:52 PM
Hi there.
Well, I 've spent some of my time in looking for just one decent post in your history, but all I can see are infinite bounty reports and some "Bitcoin to the moon".
If you want to earn merits, try harder, try to contribute, try to write more than a line of nonsense words or bounties.
I just can't understand why are you complaining about the merit system if you can't even be a constructive part of the forum.
Try harder.
6483  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ask a Legendary Member whatever you need to know about the forum on: July 03, 2018, 06:42:15 PM
Here are some of my thoughts to maybe benefit the community

I believe this forum under-values the importance of this Beginners forum because overall, 99%+ of the people in this world belong in the beginners forum. Actually, it would be fair to say that a lot of our "newbies" are years ahead of what the real definition of a newbie really is, which is even more clueless than the newbies who signed-up here because we at least engage other users and keep making mistakes.

Just to bring more into focus, sure I am a total newb and struggling. But I originally bought bitcoin near the start of when it was available, this was likely before some of the staff at your board even knew about it. It's possible, because I was first buying bitcoin at $50. Then you read this and that about how elite members act like they are above everyone else. Actually the moderator of the Beginners forum does not even accept personal messages from newbies, whatever that is all about.

Thus far I have had a surprising amount of helpful people here spending time to help me figure things out. Amazing really.

"But newcomer is too lazy even read rules on pin post" I disagree that is only newbies that always are faulted on this forum. There are dozens of senior members who spam the forum , go against the rules here.

Ok, nice, but, please, stay on topic. This thread is meant to resolve some questions about the forum, not to engage in a discussion related to ranks, there are many related on the Meta section, and you can engage in there.
Thanks for the discussion, but, please, let's try to stay on topic. If not, it is going to be kind of messy.
6484  Other / Meta / Re: Please get the TwitBook threads off the newbie board. on: July 03, 2018, 05:17:27 PM
They make Bitcoin Talk look pathetic, and they must be killing it's reputation. Now is the time when we should be building the forum reputtion in preparation for the new digital currencies that the governments will be introducing. Bitcoin Talk's policy of giving priority to the TwitBook scammers and spammers isn't going to give it any credibility. How difficult is it for mods to just move them into the BT underworld?

It is annoying how many posts are rising on the Beginners board related to airdrops, bounties, tweets, how to earn, how to know what is already pinned, how to be a great shitposter...
I agree with you. That kind of crap-posts does belong to "off-topic" or maybe it should be created a "Crap-Board", it will suit better with the content of -mostly- all posts in there. Besides, it will be funny to check out from time to time the "Crap-board"  Grin if created.
6485  Other / Meta / Re: MERIT Revolution on: July 03, 2018, 04:03:33 PM

This thread obviously must be in the beginner's board... I'm afraid the user is doing that again (post, whenever he/she thinks, is going to gain more merits and then move the post in a seek of more merits, but now, we are "obliged" to say him/her to move this, so there is his/her excuse...).
How sad. I believe in second chances, but not in three.

To the OP, the thread is giving us nothing. This is the Meta board, and it is supposed to be used as a related-forum-discussions board, not as a "teaching" one.

Besides, you just copied the image from another post by the youngmillionaire, you are not contributing to the forum in any way, neither creating some original useful content that hasn't been created already.

(And now, probably the OP will begin to say that I hate him/her, that I'm against him/her, that this is personal... blablabla).

Whatever. Ignored.
6486  Other / Meta / Re: Should ANN and services threads be excluded from the merit system ? on: July 03, 2018, 03:37:07 PM

I guess a lot of things are always happening outside of the forum. If bump bots in the forum are being sold elsewhere then most likely merits are also being sold and their means of communication is outside the forum. This is an obvious abuse as the ones giving merits usually in the first place don't give merits at normal post, then suddenly they will give high merits on ANN threads that don't actually give any kind of conrtibution to the forum. They are just here promoting their business without caring how theybare abusing the forum.
Yes, in fact, digging about the forum in other platform's I've come to realize that the merits are being sold by an average amount of $5 in some telegram groups (mostly Russians) called: "Bitcointalk Accounts". Also, they are selling accounts from Newbies in $5 to Full Member, in $150... This is amazing how important to own a High-rank account is getting "outside", seems pretty awesome to me. Besides, most of the accounts "for sale" are, probably, hacked ones (the high-rank ones are probably being robbed in front of our own eyes), or maybe they are just scam. Whatever it is, when something has a value, it will end in the black market....

To summarize: They gave away 176 Merit to this thread since introduction, and earned 5 new sMerit in the past 120 days.
My conclusion: this phenomenon will die out once they run out of sMerit.

I hope you're right. But, given the hacking-selling accounts and the merit "store" it seems like a long-time tumor.
Nevertheless, I would like to be mistaken about this.
6487  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ask a Legendary Member whatever you need to know about the forum on: July 03, 2018, 03:02:38 PM
I've noticed a site called bitcointalk(dot)to. Is this a phishing site?
Yes, it is, be careful, and never enter to the site. They want you to put your bitcointalk account name and password, and I suspect they have already hacked many.

Hi,

1. I want to know if there any planned changes to how the forum operates, with the introduction of new rules and regulations? If such rules are introduced
where are we supposed to look for them?

2. Is there any practice in place for forum cleanups? That is to handle dead/inactive accounts, farmed accounts and such? I speak of accounts already in existence. The merit system effectively aims to do the same in future but what about accounts that have already been established without any standard before the merit system was introduced?

3. Is it going against the rule to ask a question which would discuss maybe a disadvantage( possible issue) associated with Bitcoin? I had a post as such and never received any response for the question posted! Is there any unspoken rule with regard to this in Bitcointalk?

Thank you

1. There is in developing a whole new forum, this one is supposed to move to it eventually. You can check all this in Bitcoin Forum > Other > Meta > New forum software.
Regarding the rules, you will need to be active on the Meta board. In there, all the new implementations are posted by Theymos, and the discussion regarding the probable ones are always happening on this board. So be sure of take a look at it as much as you can  Wink

2. The accounts that have been in inactive from the last year are automatically blocked in order to avoid hacking, I think. The only cleaning tool we have is the report to moderator button in case of fraudulent activities, as well as the Scam accusations board; well, on the Meta board you can also find some good threads regarding farming, plagiarism, etc. If you think someone is breaking the rules you can search for some related posts in meta or in scam accusations or reputation (Now I'm replying to you I realize how many boards we have to report bad ones!!  Shocked)

3. Ummm I don't think so, this is a free place and you can discuss/think as you wish. Do not take too personal when a thread of yours doesn't have any reply's, it happens to me too, maybe there was nobody interested in that very moment, or maybe there were just too many threads at the time, so the one from yours just disappeared fast. I get it is kind of annoying, but happens to everyone! Huh

6488  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ask a Legendary Member whatever you need to know about the forum on: July 03, 2018, 02:56:35 PM
Yea sorry I wasn't clear, I'm familiar with the implementation of the merit system.

I was basically asking if you think it's really the best system to base forum rank on post count? Then ranting about how merit comes in too late in the process. There are a lot of people with undeserved ranks from the way the old system was transferred over sure but raw post count being such an important metric is my issue.

I think the merit system is a necessary evil, since the last December's hype. Try to picture it as a city: many people living in there, from all over the world, some good, some bad, but in quite a balance. Suddenly, a massive number of people is willing to enter the city, and want to have the same privileges than the others, even if the others have been in there for years, building that city, step by step. New rules were necessary since the December's bitcoin hype happened, because, suddenly, the number of persons joining the forum was enormous. Besides, most of the people coming have as an only goal to make money, for they heard about bitcoin first and how many people become rich, and then about the forum, a place in "where you can earn bitcoin". Most of the newcomers don't know anything about Bitcoin, about the forum history, about the Blockchain technology, they are just in here because they want to earn instead of learn.
So there was necessary to change the rules, due to the behavior of mostly all the newcomers. Of course, there are exceptions, there are bad legendaries, and really good newbies, but these exceptions are few, and you can't determine what an old member deserves based on a new rule. All the ones that entered in here before the merit system didn't have in their minds the merit system, so, how can judge them with this mindset. Also, some older members have changed their mindset since the merit system was introduced (included me), and, since there, they are trying their best.
So, is that fair? Yes, it is. Many people built the forum since the very beginning and yes, many deserve a recognition for it, because they didn't come in here for the money, they collaborate for years to the forum develop, to the discussion, they engaged amazing debates even when bitcoin was a huge mystery to society.
Of course, a new system always brings a collateral damage: to the forum, that there are some bad ones with a high-rank account, but, even so, we still have the trust system, if you see red numbers under a name, just be careful.
To newcomers, well, you can say that it is nor fair, but to me the merit system absolutely is. If you are a newcomer with the will of learning, with something in your mind beyond making some bucks, you will be rewarded, you will be able to rank and you will be respected by the community. But, even if you don't have any interest in the forum, you can work, make your bucks in here and, as well as you don't break the rules, you will be in here as long as you want.
So, is that unfair? No, it is not, from  my point of view it is a neccessary response due the newcomers we have (an average superior to 450 per day, 70% spamming all over the forum).

Your are all allowed to make the difference by hard work, as we have done from the last years.

As a final addition, check this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=recent;patrol  This is the "Patrol Page", and you will be able to watch in there all the posts made by newbies... check the "quality"
6489  Other / Meta / Re: Analysis- sMerits per transaction and sMerit transactions per post-Are they low? on: July 02, 2018, 03:08:44 PM
... Wink

Fair enough, it seems difficult to manage and also pointless, I guess, for the result is something we all know well: most of the posters are shitposters, so they are not just receiving merits.
I just was thinking about this week discussion (how can we approach to the merit system and be "fairer" by helping people to rank-up). After all those insights we have had, I truly think this is going to be a matter of changing mindsets, but also, embracing and accepting the truth: the forum is going to become a place in with there are different kinds of people:
- Those who are here with the only goal or making some bucks = quantity vs quality.
- Those who are in here earning some bucks (why not) but also truly concerned about the forum itself and its functions, engaging good discussions and creating useful content =quality vs quantity.

I don't think it to be a big issue, though. It is how society works in large cities. Grin
6490  Other / Meta / Re: Analysis- sMerits per transaction and sMerit transactions per post-Are they low? on: July 02, 2018, 02:26:12 PM
<...>

Given the incredible amount of daily posters we have, seems pretty low, but, also, given the incredible amount of daily shitposters, it seems symptomatic to me.

It will be interesting to see an analysis related to the number of posts these users are making per week, or, if possible, in what boards are they being rewarded. Maybe it will give  a different point of view: for instance, if a user is creating more than a hundred post per week and receiving one merit, we can imagine the quality, or, on the contrary, if the user is like you, it will post about 20 per week and receive tons of merits just for one post. Besides, it should be interesting to see if the user is receiving merit per post (one per) or tons of merits per post (I figure it should be the stranger cases...). Maybe we can typify users by doing a personal analysis (by selecting... I don't know, 100 users?):
- Less merited ones- board they use- number of posts vs number of merits.
- The average of a merit per week -board more used- the number of post vs the number of merits.
- Very merited (more than 5 per week) - board more used - the number of post vs the number of merits.
- Pretty awesome (more than 10 per week) - board more used - the number of post vs the number of merits.
- Genious (more than 20 per week) - board more used - the number of post vs the number of merits.

Maybe just by making a selection of "types" or users we could have some answers. Huh
6491  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ask a Legendary Member whatever you need to know about the forum on: July 02, 2018, 02:11:23 PM
It's not really a question but doesn't it kind of seem like a problem that users are basically rewarded with higher ranks for post count even when they don't actually contribute anything? I'm probably biased because I'm basically a lurker on here but it seems like until you hit that merit requirement there's a real incentive to make as many low-quality posts as they can get away with. It's one of the things I don't really get about the forum.

I'm not quite sure of what are you asking, but maybe you are mistaken in one thing: when the merit system was implemented, the people receive a determined number of merits according to the status they already had. For instance, If someone was already a Full Member, he will receive 100 merits when the system comes, that's maybe the reason why you can see many users with 100 merits and tons of posts in their count: if they are shitposters they will remain with their 100 merits forever, for, as long as they don't contribute to the forum it is fairly improbable for them to gain new merits.
Maybe you can just check the date of their accounts creation: if they are from 2017 or before probably they got automatic merits when the system was implemented; if they are pretty new and have had tons of undeserving merits, probably it is a case of merit-farming (against the rules) and you can report them.

6492  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ask a Legendary Member whatever you need to know about the forum on: July 02, 2018, 01:46:39 PM
I have read some explanations about the merit system but cannot quite gasp it.

Is there an easy inforgraphic or can you explain it like I'm five years old?

Thank you

Besides what Jet Cash has recommended to you, take a look at that amazing video another user made: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3134036.msg40523329#msg40523329

In the thread, you will find a  very well explained and simple video and I think it is going to help you to understand the merit issue!!

Hi there, thanks for your help topic.
Sometimes when i made a google search and there were some results linked to a bitcointalk topic. But when i clicked on that links i couldn't access as it said this topic is limit to you. So i want to ask are there limit topics which only some specific people can access? If there are, could you tell somethings about that topics, if you have the right.

The most possible situation is that the post google provided to you has been deleted or moved. When a post is deleted you will always have this message. There are not many boards out of limit, so that's the most probable situation, again: moved or deleted.  Smiley

Can u give me advance tips/strategies on how to check ICO if its legit or not?

I've never been very much into ICO, and also, this question seems pretty far from the original intention of the thread (remember it was about questions regarding how the forum works), but maybe you will find interesting:
- A post about that: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4496331.0
- A website to check-out how many possibilities this ICO actually has: https://icorating.com/

Anyway, I've been some related topics circulating in here, just search for them. Sorry, since I'm not into ICO I don't have an answer.
6495  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Ask a Legendary Member whatever you need to know about the forum on: July 02, 2018, 01:34:31 PM
This might be a dumb question, but, I just want to ask how to bookmark a post?
Or are there any option in Bitcointalk regarding bookmarking a post?

Thank you.

No, is not dumb, in fact, is a headache for many.  Wink
There is not a bookmark tool, but you can learn how to manage your watchlist. If my memory serves me correctly, there was a post On the Beginners board explaining some tricks about the watchlist and its uses, but I can't find it, sorry. Anyway, you can edit your own watchlist in here https://bitcointalk.org/watchlist.php
You will find the watchlist function aside your name, at the superior part of your ṕrofile, under "show my last posts"... etc.

To be honest, I always use my own post history to keep an eye in a post, or my merit history: if a post is amazing, I always try to merit it eventually, so I can go back to it whenever I want (by my merit history or, if it is older than 120 days, by LoyceV or DdmrDdmr tools) and also the user get his/her reward. But, of course, not always is possible, since I don't have always smerits to give.

Hope it helps.

EDIT: jeje, r1s2g3 answered you really well, our quotes crossed their paths!!!
In addition of what he said to you, any topic you visit or quoted is added to your watchlist automatically, so be sure of "unwatch" all those you are not interested in so you can have your watchlist quite clean.

Thank you very much. I am starting on a whole new level I will follow the link and hope i learn from it. I will as well keep you posted on my progress.

Yes, please. I actually learned a lot on this site, so I hope it works for you too. Keep me informed  Wink

Please I wanted to ask, if there is any thread that someone can learn programming from. I have been looking around for such threads for a while now. I would like to purse a programming career.

Do you mean programming in general? Well if that is what you actually meant, in here you will find some bitcoin or crypto related programming, but most of all in a very specific way (mostly related to bitcoin or cryptos, of course, since you are in a bitcoin forum  Grin).

If you just want to start programming since the very beginning and in different languages, take a look at this website: https://www.codecademy.com/
You will find many free courses in CodeAcademy regarding programming.
Hope it helps

Nice initiative Seoincorporation. It will be interesting to see what goes on in this thread overtime, so I’ll keep a curious eye on it… Just don't leave aside you contributions to other forum sections which always bring something inherently interesting.

Thanks!!! Of course not, I will be around here, but, you know, I was just curious precisely since I read this quote from you:
I was just browsing through this thread when a young close relative strolled in. He sat by my side for a minute and overlooked what I was reading, quickly pointing out the following on the spot:

- The first anime character is from Guilty Crown.
- The second one is Sakura Chiyo.
- They are talking about genders (on the thread) as if there were only two: there are at least thirty (and around 300 sexualities).

Having said that, he left the room and went back to his reading ...

Times change, and younger generations may or may not get into crypto, but at least I can get my hopes up around here for some of them having a broader view of life in non-Boolean ways.

When I read it I began to think about all the things we are just taking for granted about our own perception regarding newbies and their concerns. I feel that, somehow, when you spend enough time in here you absolutely can see the things in a really different way, and it becomes more and more difficult to walk in other's shoes. That's why I'm interested now in trying to understand what a newcomer has in his/her mind, for, by knowing them, maybe we can help some and also the forum.

Thanks a lot for your kind words, my friend!! I hope you also stay around and help me to answer some of the questions if more coming.
6499  Other / Meta / Re:moderators and forum users (post = merit) on: July 01, 2018, 05:33:06 PM
I am absolutely surprised by all the quotes in here.
How can you understand any of the OP's word? To me it is just like: "ksng{kkjweg{ptiUNV34U{}}}{}+wṕ+ṕpklhjhg12345ynngfghjuyykuktnfgnhtrht"

OP, there have been many interesting debates in here from the last week. Most of them are about good posting, which posts to reward, about the merit system, etc. Maybe you can take a look, I´ m sure it will help you to understand what's actually going on.

1)I have recently reported few posts( good project, great project, to the moon bla bla bla) in ANN threads which I believed didn't add any value to the conversation. But one of my report marked as bad and I want to know why?

It happens to me too  Grin... I have some unhandled and 3 bad but do not care too much about that. Even when I don't know the reasons of why are they tagged as "bad", probably the mod has one. There are too many minds in here, so keep reporting, that helps a lot.

2) is there any way to know when I got a reply for a thread that I have posted without login to the forum?

Yes, you can go to your profile even when you are not logged in, and see your post history. You will not be able to see not your merits history neither your watchlist, but you will certainly be able to see your posting history and check if there is something new in there.

3) is there any way to know when someone quote my posts in the forum? If yes then how and if not what is logic behind the admins avoding such kind of  modifications to the forum which I believed very important for a modern day forum?

As far as I know, no, there isn't. But I have the same question if someone has dug in it and found a solution, please, help us!!!
I always go to my profile and check my lasts posts to see any answers to my topics. It is kind of messy, but if you manage well your watchlist, you will see how useful this tool is.

4) Is there a way to avoid google recaptcha thing? Because most of the time i am using my mobile to log bitcointalk and when it comes to logging even I couldn't zoom out to solve recaptcha thing and it pops out again and again, trust me it's really annoying when login through mobile. Any solutions?
No, it isn't. The captcha thing is designed to avoid bots to log into the forum automatically. I'm sorry, but it is a necessary evil.

P.S. - I have put all the critical issues that I got currently in a one post since I don't want to get other members space by creating separate posts per each question. I think you didn't mind it Wink
Of course not. I'm sorry if some of my answers are vague, but I don't have any solutions for the replies and quotes stuff. Maybe the next new forum will be less "messy".
Thanks for your questions  Wink
