^ TBH Eng vs Aus rivalry looks cute to me when i compare this with Ind vs Pak. for ex if England lose against Australia or vice versa then team or fans will get together have a beer and shrug their shoulder but that's not the case with India or pakistan.

About D/N test. don't consider this as a perfect solution but one of the important piece of big puzzle. its important to have all pieces together otherwise..... meh.

Don't know about you guys but i am observing good amount of improvement with this Sri Lankan team. if they follow this projectile till next T-20 world cup then i have some hope for them Grin let's not forget Australia hosting next WC.

Ist T-20   = 99 runs
2nd T-20  = 117 runs
3rd T-20   = 142 runs

Anyways, hope Aus collapse today  Tongue

NZ vs ENG
Nowadays most of the big teams don't include their best players for the T20 matches and reserve them for mostly the ODI/Test format.
~Edited out~

Its good and effective strategy but i don't see many teams following this pattern. Except India regularly, on couple of occasion Australia and in today's match England.

~snip~

Yeah lot of names. Kinda shock to see Williamson not in squad for today's match. England and NZ both have changed sides today. Lot of regulars missing except NZ are still up with some common bowlers - Ferguson, Sodhi, Southee , Santner.

NZ was lucky enough to get a decent score. Thanks to Taylor and Mitchell. Right now England are on 26 runs without any wicket. Bairstow is playing good cricket so far. Let's see if he is able to keep like this till the end.

I wasn't aware of Williamson's injury as @bryant.coleman pointed out. Eng just lost their 3rd wicket but still they should win the game  easily.

NZ vs ENG

Big names are missing in the squad from both sides. feels like another tryout for WT-20

I was expecting some sort of firework from Kiwi batsmen but only Daryl Mitchell showed some character and other batsmen acted like a dud, hitting six then back to pavilion.

^^ I might be wrong on my statement but he has a reputation of being a funny guy. the only incident i remember (and one in IPL i suppose) he getting angry way back to 2015-2016 when he was playing against the Sri lanka where Mahela Jayawardene & co were performing some dirty tricks or vodoo (cricketing point of view) on the last ball of the inning.

After Shakib's ban another news coming out that Glenn Maxwell known as "The big show" has taken a break from the Cricket due to his Mental problems. i have never seen him angry or sad in the cricket field. it tells us about the pressure in International game or "grass is always greener on the other side".

Aussie cricket star Glenn Maxwell takes break from game for mental health reasons

Ind vs Ban ( Shakib's ban killed the hype, i suppose)
Honestly, there was never any hype to begin with since almost everyone are expecting India to decimate Bangladesh since they are in poor form, have issues with their board, bans etc which is why I will just check out the scorecards for these matches.
I have no hope for Bangladesh in Test format but for T-20 they had some chance because Indians in try out mode.

This is hilarious. What in the world was that guy thinking? Never heard of him before, but I will probably remember his name now. This will probably become a meme pretty soon.
hahaha he's promising bowler though.

~snip~
I understand how ridiculous this is but if you are a new player you will be under immense pressure to perform and these sort of funny moments does happen, he might be playing cricket where there is no media attention and when you are playing cricket when the world is watching you will mess up sometimes  Cheesy. The reason i respect these international players is because they play under pressure and a single mishap will be watched around the world and the pressure will get you, this will be remembered for a long time  Cheesy.
Technically he's not new player per se and he featured in fair amount of games in all format. about pressure in media and crowd presence; In this series Stadium going empty so far. for some weird reason CA is not interested in advertising, people don't even know about the match.

I think England VS New Zealand T20 series will be interesting to watch
Agreed.

~snip~

After the Sri Lanka and Australia T-20 series we also have Pakistan vs Australia T-20 series (3 match series) starting 3rd November and Afghanistan vs West Indies as well which will be interesting to watch as they welcome W.I in their home stadium in Dehradun,India.
If i remember correctly Pakistan made some dramatic change in their T-20 squad? guess couple of players are under 20y age.... they are unpredictable af.

Had no idea about this match but looking at scorecard. have no regrets whatsoever and glad that i didn't waste my time on it. looks dead series to me or Oz just doing net practice with Sri lankans  Grin. anyways we have good amount of cricket in the next month let's hope for good contest.

Eng vs NZ

@V8, @LFC first cricket world cup then manage to draw the Ashes and now ready for Rugby world cup? looks fruitful year for England only drawback is Brexit got delay.
There's certainly plenty going on to distract the average Briton from the real issue - socialism must be put to bed by hard money and corresponding individual sovereignty.

Comforting lies are easy to swallow...

Looks political witch hunt to me, we are suppose to believe that after 2 years suddenly ICC woke up and got their shit together. Timing is fucked up here without any doubt and as far as i understand he denied the Bookie's offer. 6-18 months sounds harsh as well - for not reporting-
Probably, but Shakib is not as innocent as you guys make him out to be. As I mentioned earlier, both are at fault here. He is definitely one of the best Cricket players(Already a legend in my opinion), but he has made a lot of mistakes before and this could probably have been one of them.

I do hope that he bows out of this sport gracefully though somehow despite all these allegations even though this seems highly unlikely at this point. I wonder how the Bangladesh team will recover from these consecutive blows.

Tbh i am sad to hear about shakib, because i rate highly him as a cricketer. you are right that he is not innocent as we think, he did broke rules by not reporting the couple of incidents, may be more? and now paying the price. but he's not alone in this game and i believe BCB has a big role in it, my understanding is that at start BCB was saving his ass but after drama between players and board they threw him under the bus. (agree with @iwantapony)

I heard from unverified source that one of the BCB's official gave his contact number or introduce him to a Bookie way back in 2016-17. as of now he accepted the 3 charges and punishment.

Okay Ladies and gents, We have green light for first D/N test match in India. Watch out for Dew though and its going to be big political event as well. Bangladesh and Indian PM both going to attend this match.

I don't understand the point in mixing politics with sports. Why can't we keep these two as separate? I understand that Indians (and the other South Asians such as Pakistanis and Sri Lankans) are very passionate about cricket. But historically, sports has been been used as a tool to cement friendship between various nations. But here it is being used for narrow political gains.

One positive thing is the election of Sourav Ganguly as the president of the BCCI. He is not involved in politics (although there are rumors linking him to a political party), and he is someone who had represented India in the past. But along with Sourav, a number of officials got elected who got their posts thanks to political connections (Jay Shah, Arun Singh Dhumal.etc).

Mixing politics with Sports- more precisely Cricket- has a long history in subcontinent so nothing new IMHO.

Just to be clear, its Ganguly first gig as BCCI's head and he used to be Eden Garden's administrator if i am not wrong so this all project is his baby and he want to make this series as grand as possible that's why he pitched the idea of first D/N match and manage to invite Bangladesh's PM and all former Bangladeshi cricketers (first test Ind vs Ban). Indian PM didn't gave any confirmation but i am sure he is going to visit as well.

about others that's what nepotism looks like.

Along with All Bangladeshi cricketers who played the first Ind vs Ban match back in 2000s i suppose.

Bangladesh agree to play Day-Night Test in Kolkata

Quote
Bangladesh Cricket Board has accepted BCCI's request of playing the Kolkata Test of the forthcoming series as a Day-Night game. Eden Gardens will thus become the first Indian venue to host a pink-ball Test.

Quote
"As the coach and some of the players and all the other senior players, we think that it's a great opportunity," Domingo said on Tuesday (October 29). "I don't think India have played a pink-ball Test before. We haven't played a pink-ball Test. It's a massive occasion at the Eden Gardens.

"It will be a new experience for both the teams. So we are very excited about it. It will be a great occasion under the lights against one of the best team in the world, probably the best team in the world also. So we are really looking forward to the challenge."

~snip~
Ganguly is the best choice for the post and these steps will strengthen the quality of players.
~snip~
Looks like Ganguly is doing what the COA couldn't for quite a long time.
I have a feeling that Ganguly is just warming up. his real test is how he tackles ICC over financial setup(Past dues). Tax, ICC yearly events etc.

Ganguly is in action mode and very welcome initiative by him, he's trying to strengthen domestic players economically and we can hope more competition among the first-class cricketer. i doubt if anyone wants to miss this boat.

BCCI will have 'contract system for first-class cricketers' - Sourav Ganguly

Quote
In a move that could signal a major shift in Indian cricket, newly-elected BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has said that the board will bring in "a contract system" for first-class cricketers, and that the new finance sub-committee will be asked to put the process in place for it to happen.

"We will bring in a contract system for first-class cricketers," Ganguly told PTI in an interview. "We (office-bearers) will ask the new finance committee to prepare a contract system.

Quote
"My biggest priority will be to look after first-class cricketers," he had said, adding that he had asked the Committee of Administrators (CoA) to provide financial security for domestic cricketers when the panel was put in place by the Supreme Court to supervise the BCCI. "I have been requesting that to the CoA for three years. That's the first thing I will do, look after the financial health of our first-class cricketers."

If implemented, this could change the complexion of the first-class game in the country.

The BCCI currently pays 26% of its gross revenue every year to its players; half of that is distributed among international players. How much each players gets, however, is calculated based on the number of matches they play. Which means a domestic cricketer stands to earn around Rs 25 to 30 lakh [US$ 35,350 to 42,500 approx.] depending on the matches played.

I doubt people only don't watch test cricket jist because they are busy, in reality, most of the people don't like the test format cricket at all and for them, it's a waste of time. But it's the best to cricket fans.
True, that's a main reason i am in support of "Fixed Venues for the test cricket". its not the tough task to pick 10-12 venues and work on them.

~snip~.
Your creative idea will have a lot of flaws on the system to be monitored. It's better reducing the ticket fee and hold some kind of funny events for the visitors. It may attract some.

~snip~
But I don't agree with your suggestion to sell discounted tickets for half-day. It will create a lot of complexities. Normally admissions are done only once during the day. If half-day tickets are being sold, then the stadium needs to be emptied by the end of each session and then the viewers needs to be re-admitted. There are practical options here. One option is to create separate stands for those who enter using the half-day ticket. Another option is to limit the half-day ticket only during the second half.

@RapTarX @Sithara007 Well, it was based on personal experience and same scenario, which Sithara pointed out "Bold Text". of course idea is complex and has its fair share of complexity or flaws but it could be implemented with good planning and every drop counts in the end.
