6501  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitmain promoting BitDeer is it scam or not? on: December 19, 2018, 01:38:17 PM
I put a small amount in (the minimum). If it’s a scam, I will update the thread with that information. Otherwise, I’d still suggest caution. I think the mining calculator I used said a 0.039 investment should return 0.04... not great profits but interesting if the difficulty goes up or down. I think bit,Ian are trying to save themselves, a lot of the contracts appear to have sold out too.

It only updates earnings every 24 hours...
6502  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] ChipMixer.com - Bitcoin mixer / Bitcoin tumbler - mixing reinvented on: December 19, 2018, 01:32:58 PM
Hello

last few days some of low size chips were preloaded with Segwit (segwit over p2sh) instead of non-segwit (p2pkh). Out of all withdrawn Segwit chips - none were sweeped by our users. If you were affected - please contact our support - we will help you get your coins.

ChipMixer Segwit rollout will be delayed.

Are they still loaded, can I send a test of a small chip? Or is there an issue with how they were produced?

Maybe people are just holding the funds to allow for a delay?
6503  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Cobo Vault---Protecting From Replay Attacks After Recent BCH Hard Fork on: December 19, 2018, 10:22:54 AM
You’ll already be doing replay protection to put it into another wallet (providing the addresses are different).

All you need is the parent txid to be different to each utxo.
Essentially, send the bch to a wallet address and sv to another and you’re already sorted (as long as they confirm and no one tries to attack you on the way)...
6504  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Have I Lost Coins? on: December 19, 2018, 10:18:29 AM
Update your wallet if it’s old, there’s a random sync issue with the old ones. It’s likely the bottom left is saying synchronising or not connected on the bottom left.

If there’s still an issue on the new wallet then we will be able to help better. Search your bitcoin address on google and a block explorer should come up.
6505  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Constructing bitcoind for non-standard txs on: December 18, 2018, 09:35:51 PM
To get this straight, you changed the source and then compiled the new source after returning true from the nonestandardinput module and deleted the extra block of code and it doesn’t work?

It’s likely that code is now out of date then. If you’re using the command line, did you get the volt and this and other information correct? Could you show us the command you tried on the cli?
6506  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Take my Paypal I want BTC/ETH: Send me the coin after 180 days on: December 18, 2018, 07:52:05 PM
I'd usggest using the trust reference link as being the archive and not this actual topic?

It's probably best that way...
6507  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Take my Paypal I want BTC/ETH: Send me the coin after 180 days on: December 18, 2018, 07:01:04 PM
I can probably do 0.039?

I don’t want to have to monitor it so can I send you a time locked transaction, which you can broadcast after the 180 days. (180 days is a long time to remember something for Grin).

I’ll send you my email address later today and the time locked transaction.
I am perfectly ok :-)
I have never done a time-lock transaction so I have no clue at the moment however I am sure I will figure it out. Thank you. PM me your Paypal. I have £111 worth paypal and you will give them all assuming there will be no fees since we both are from UK.

Update:
Trade agreed. I have sent £111 (Paypal) and I am expecting to receive 0.0375BTC after 17th June 2019.

Payment address:

Please quote the post for future reference.

Thanks jackg.

I can confirm I will pay 0.0375BTC on 17th June 2019.

I might not remember directly so if someone can give me a poke/pm I’d be grateful.

I can sign a message if necessary but otherwise this should stand as a record.
6508  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: [initial connection] Some questions at the start of designing a bitcoin client on: December 18, 2018, 05:03:41 PM
Don't forget to check out BIP14 for userAgents.

By the way, how is your "code conversion" going?

I've decided to rewrite a lot of the code taking on people's advice. I'm in the designing stage (of the algorithms and data structure). I want a full design or as close to it as I can possibly get. I started doing some of the more hardcore stuff a few days ago as I was short of direction and motive for a while due to a lot of coursework that was due.

The version messages are probably fine to be completely copied over and I'll work out where they are in the source later (although hopefully I can get some specific ones for my client that can cut corners a bit). I don't actually have a name but I guess I can just chuck anything with it and hope for the best, it's just a name that allows other nodes to blacklist it in case I completely mess up the source and it starts spawning random chain forks Grin.

I'm wanting to use something similar to the electrum seeds and I'm hoping to try to generate an xpub and zpub, derive the native addresses from the zpub and the non-native segwit and legacy addresses from the same seed (I'm thinking of letting people use all three from the same seeds at the same time to make it much easier to make it compatible with other clients that aren't going to include native segwit).

Lightning, dandelion and wimblewomble will have to be ignored for the moment however along with a few other things but hopefully I can add them later.

Also, thanks for the link I'll have to check them all.
I'm hoping once I get a desing that is full and will be updated while I'm writing the code, someone else can easily copy it and put it into a new language fairly easily in comparison to how it is at the moment. Hopefully I can publish a book (I can probably push something to amazon, github and my own site for free but I might have to publish under my own name so might disappear for a few weeks about that time to keep the mystery alive Grin). I'm hoping that someone can come along (maybe me) in a few years and if the document is regularly updated they can put it into Go if that language turns out to be faster than C# by that time or maybe there'll be a new quantum oriented language by that time.

I've never put two and two together before now Sad

Based on that, I'm guessing dots are necessary - I haven't moved onto blocks yet though?
6509  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Bitdeer Discussion and Support Thread on: December 18, 2018, 04:51:39 PM
HashNest is becoming bitdeer. Not sure if this has been discussed or not.

I just read the message on the hashnest site and I’m starting with a month at 30ths to see how it goes...
6510  Economy / Services / Re: [FULL] ChipMixer Signature Campaign | 0.00075 BTC/post on: December 18, 2018, 02:48:12 PM
What difference does it make? You guys have no minimum quota.

People would be able  to make 0 posts in a week and 100 posts in the following week and receive 2 full weeks of payment instead of one Wink

100 posts that are well constructed (as long as they're not all in the same day or something for example) aren't actually that bad. I remember being in campaigns when I posted 100 posts a week (I think I only did that once but it was a fun week when I got bored a few years ago)...

It's not something to encourage thouhg but if you have it as a goal then why not Grin... I think HCP and Loyce have been near 100 in a week here before, they've both been good constructive posters.
6511  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A transfer of 249.999 BTC happened just now, really amazing on: December 18, 2018, 02:32:29 PM
This might suggest that there will be a surge for BTC and other cryptocurrencies?
The amount is good but not strong enough to influence so even if owner wants to sell, I do not think it can affect the price. It can onlotc trade with an etf y influence low volume small fishes and shitcoins. Anyway, it is probably exchange's money and just sent to the wallet to hold it.

Either that or it’s a huge exchange for an etf or something that is hoping to be approved.

Tracing the chain and seeing where the funds initially started seems quite a good idea. They may all have been from the same miner or service.

6513  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Take my Paypal I want BTC/ETH: Send me the coin after 180 days on: December 18, 2018, 10:52:08 AM
The point is, if the PayPal doesn’t go through darkstar he can’t confirm it has gone through so he can’t technically release the funds if there’s a dispute. It’s the only logical way I can think of unless you get a signed message from PayPal or something?
6514  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Take my Paypal I want BTC/ETH: Send me the coin after 180 days on: December 18, 2018, 10:46:33 AM
I’ll do 0.035 for the amount you send if it’s in gbp. I’ll have to send in bitcoin as I don’t like eth... Grin

I don’t think I want to push my rate any lower.
If interested let me know. We can fix the rate and you do a cash deposit when you get back or do PayPal fnf and wait the 180 days...
6515  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Take my Paypal I want BTC/ETH: Send me the coin after 180 days on: December 18, 2018, 10:32:46 AM
I can take your PayPal base on 180 days hold time. Terms for rate: I will send the same amount of BTC/eth dollar which will show coinmarketcap for eth or preev for BTC at the time of sending BTC/ETH.
Thanks shasan. I would like to use an escrow for the transaction. How-about using DarkStar_ as an escrow (If he agree). His fees look good to me (it's gonna cost me 0.0005BTC if I am not wrong) and I will pay the escrow fees.

You will send the BTC to DarkStar_. Once he confirms then I will send the paypal to you. According to the terms, DarkStar_ will release the BTC to me after 180 days. I would not mind if it's even after 200 days.

I am ok with CMC and I will also pay the PayPal fee (if there is any).
I am okay with that. But how we would be able to know the exact amount as I mentioned I will calculate BTC/eth price while sending (I mean once it filled 180 days)?

You wouldn’t because that’s a bit of a redicilous offer.

Well actually you could message darkstar.

@mday you’ll probably have to send the transaction through darkstar or the escrow and that will incur a fee for currency sending internationally. You could probably be better off finding a uk based escrow (I could do it without charging a fee if you can’t find anyone else). The fee will only be $2 but it might be another $2 to Shasan (unless he’s in Canada).
6516  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What is the minimal version of ubuntu that I need to have to run a full node? on: December 18, 2018, 12:35:57 AM
As a question, why are you wanting to use Linux?

This shows a list of dependencies and what you need to install: https://github.com/bitcoin/bitcoin/blob/master/doc/build-unix.md
Before you install bitcoin core through the four commands, install the dependencies. I’d give you a script but I think you should learn how to do it so you get used to Linux.
6517  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why do we need bitcoin in the modern world? on: December 17, 2018, 10:56:52 PM
Bitcoin is needed to enhance faster transactions with regards to payment and also to reduce the cost of transaction fees. Many business personnel complain about the high fees that are charged anytime they make any payment order throuhg Central Banks. payment with the use of bitcoin is faster and cost less.

This is no longer true.

I can make a fiat payment at no cost to the buyer or seller. The transfer is almost instantaneous, and is "protected" by the bank. Confirmed Bitcoin payments can take up to an hour, and involve a fee ( which may be small). Bitcoin is great for international payments, and it has many other virtues, but it is not a payment method for everyday transactions. Lightning may change this though.

I don’t know, there’s still a cost to someone if it’s not you. If it isn’t you, it becomes the bank who pays the transaction fees. Visa also charge fees as well as faster payments (who allow you to send free transactions).

In a lot of cases once something enters the mempool it can be considered confirmed. It’s certainly difficult to have two double spends kept in the mempool and not have the ones shown by block explorers not win...

Bitcoin is good for high value irriversible transfers of money. It is more the go,d of the internet than the money of the internet. And it can’t be counterfeited if the receiver knows what they’re doing...

This might be off-topic but I just want to understand why maybe i'm doing something wrong.  Embarrassed
Whenever I quote a person's post in a reply, it gets deleted and there are no rules that states this section's guidelines.

It’s global forum rules from the meta section.
Just because there’s no board specific rules, doesnt mean we’re without any.

This is off topic, you should’ve put it in meta.
6519  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is the value of Bitcoin? What is bitcoin secured by? on: December 17, 2018, 10:16:34 PM
That's the case in most of the currencies, for example the dollar is no longer backed by gold since many years ago, so we can say that its value is given by a large number of people who trust in its stability and the little circulation that there is in the market, at the end of the day that's what matters.

I think the dollar, the euro and the pound sterling are more focussed on people’s opinions on the banks (commercial ones) who artificially increase the amount of currency that exists (the government controls very little of this process). Google fractional reserve banking for more information...

Bitcoin is, like gold, more based on the will of the people. Governments started good by having things backed by gold and silver, it’s a shame we can’t go back to those days...

admin can see 1 dan last version? and forum members can see only last version? thets true?

You can quote stuff if it’s significant. I wouldn’t do it too often if I were you.

As the others have said you can also archive stuff too.
