6501  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I wonder - are there ppl here who bought BTC when it was 19k ? on: January 02, 2019, 07:41:32 AM
A lot of my friends bough BTC at that price. Sadly they lost a lot of money. I didn't buy it then , thankfully Smiley

Hey so you're saying that your friends who purchased bitcoins at it's peak, sold it off as prices were falling and incurred losses?. Those kind of sellers are called panic sellers, and you should not make a decision based on their sales. If you're not aware let me make you understand there was no actual loss, the loss was only on paper and they had to hodl it and once prices rebounded then they could sell for profits.
6502  Economy / Economics / Re: Will people come back to gold on: January 02, 2019, 03:23:27 AM
Gold always become safe haven investment. The growth always stable and more resistant againts inflation. I am believe if our economic using gold standart, our country economic getting stronger and can survive from economic crisis

While gold is considered to be a safe heaven, I don't feel it's return can sustain ones expenses these days. I feel gold has lost it's shine, as the demand for it also has fallen all across the globe. I feel people now are ready to take more risks, for higher returns and are looking for risky ventures to earn and sustain for itself. Hence I feel people will opt for cryptos over gold, as they'll get more returns with cryptos.
6503  Economy / Gambling / Re: 🎲 BITDICE -2019 mBTC Christmas and New Year Celebrations [2+ BTC in Prizes] 🎲 on: January 01, 2019, 01:58:07 PM
Here's what our competition leaderboard looks like currently:

Leader has a good position there but as of now some spots are (currently) +EV. Still plenty of time to join even if you haven't played (or even joined us) yet!

We are running other promotions such as a free BTC giveaway: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5088426.0

And a video contest with 0.185 BTC prize pool: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5090160.0

Hey Boxxob guess I'll take my words back about the leader true to his name, he's opened up an huge lead and it looks difficult if not impossible to dethrone him. As for the remaining spots I feel all are up for the grabs including the second spot, and I believe we shall see some more changes as it nears to it's end. It's pertinent to note that there're only few days remaining for this competition to end, so I feel people should enter and take their spots before it's to late.
6504  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Crypto A Way To become Rich / Millionaire ? on: January 01, 2019, 11:39:29 AM
Today Want to  Ask , did Satoshi Created bitcoin to solve poverty  issues or he created this bitcoin so solve financial transaction problems !!
Is crypto  a get rich quick scheme as people are putting their  mindset into  it  ?

Hey Bitcoins was not created to solve poverty, rather it was created as a decentralised store value as Satoshi was frustrated with the existing payment system prevailing back then. I would say yes and no to it becoming a way to become a millionaire, e.g. if you see Rapper 50 cents earned millions by investing in bitcoins back then. However many even lost their money when they brought at 20k and sold for losses, bitcoins can make you rich or poor but it depends on how you use it.
6505  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Game of Thrones - Who will rule? Odds and betting discussion [Odds updated!] on: January 01, 2019, 07:36:05 AM
I didn't know got folk people betting on GOT too  Cheesy

I don't get it what's there to be surprised, this is the season finale and excitement and tensions are running high. There're only three months now for GOT to premier, and I have yet to pick on that one character who'll survive till the end. I believe most of them will be bumped off, and Tyrion, Sansa and Jon should survive others I feel won't make it till the end, but I'm excited to see will Jon or Jamie kill the night king?.
6506  Economy / Economics / Re: thinking of selling or investing more. on: January 01, 2019, 03:32:48 AM
I was like this a few days ago. I think it might fall but I'm not certain (I've sold 0.8% Grin).

A few days I thought, I want to double my stake and I want to sell it all... Literally at the same time. Hodl seems a good idea though ATM, it's what I'm doing with most of my Bitcoin.

Hey these are the phases that each person goes when he has bitcoins, many of us have been there made rash decisions only to regret them later. In my personal opinion if you have bitcoins then you should simply hodl them for the long term, irrespective of the short term fluctuations. In case you wish to buy, then always buy on the dips and average it out so you'll get good profits going ahead.
6507  Economy / Economics / Re: The whole market is going down. Any particular reason for that? on: December 31, 2018, 05:33:06 PM
My reason is that market prices are down because the content in the forum is not good and does not support bitcoin and the many rampant hackers that have been damaging the bitcoin image and I order for 2019 we must eradicate hackers that are dibitcoin and use good words in the bitcoin forum

I don't understand what you meant by prices are down because of the content of this forum, I do hope you understand that Bitcointalk doesn't influence prices we merely discuss events and prices here. The reason the prices are because of constant selling, and lack of positive news for bitcoins. Also one major reason is the lack of demand for it from institutional investors which is hurting it, but I feel 2019 shall be better.
6508  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin exchange on: December 31, 2018, 02:55:52 PM
I am new in this bitcoin field. Kindly give your suggestions to understand who is the best in bitcoin exchange.

Hey welcome here before you begin investing in bitcoins, I would suggest you to learn a lot about bitcoins as you have zero knowledge of what it is. If you're looking for an exchange then you can check coinbase in my experience that's good, but i would advise you not to store your coins in an exchange as they're risky. I would recommend you to use Electrum, but only download it from it's official site and only update it from their site only.
6509  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambler was being robbed on: December 31, 2018, 11:23:37 AM
Recently, a Korean National has been robbed here in my place while riding the Taxi going home and lose the money that he won in the casinos, Its around 4Million Pesos or $75,000. This is not new in gambling industry since many incidents like this before. Do you ever think its a real accident or its just an inside job where the employees of casinos are involve or the casino itself?

This is a once in a lifetime opportunities to become a millionaire, and yet it is being taken easily by a more greedy people. Now I’m wondering if its still safe to go to casinos or better to play online? What’s your thought about this?

Here’s the link for your reference (it’s not translated in english but I’ve already share the summary of this news):
https://www.gmanetwork.com/news/balitambayan/balita/679284/koreanong-nanalo-ng-p4m-sa-casino-hinoldap-sa-pasay/story/

Hey this is really sad news I feel it has to be an insider hand, there's no way they'll be able to pull this off without the knowledge from the casino itself. There's a popular saying 'the house always wins', one way or another you never win and it's proven again. After playing in online casinos I feel safer as my identity is kept a secret, all the money I withdraw is from bitcoins which no one can know where I'll keep so yes I feel safer playing in an online casino rather than in a land based casino.
6510  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread (EPL) on: December 31, 2018, 07:19:18 AM
I think the race to qualify for the Uefa Champions League next season among the English Premier League teams would be very intense as Manchester United are starting to pick up a lot of points after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer became the new manager at Manchester United, they are starting to catch up with Arsenal on the table now with 35 points, even though Chelsea is currently holding the 4th spot with 43 points on the table, but Arsenal and Manchester United could still catch up with Chelsea fairly easily if Chelsea mess up a few games.

I'll agree the race for the fourth spot has just caught pace, had Manchester United yet been under Mourinho I'm sure all three matches would have ended in defeat. There're three people responsible for Manchester United revival Ole Solskjaer, Mike Phelan and Paul Pogba these three have united to lift the club up. I feel if Tottenham also suffers losses along with Chelsea it'll get really interesting.
6511  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: December 31, 2018, 03:32:59 AM
Germany and Switzerland both had wins in the Hopman Cup, Federer was in great form winning easily in straight sets 6-1 6-1 against Norrie of Great Britain. Germany look in good form as well with Kerber and Zverev winning in 3 sets, it looks like its going to be an interesting tournament to see which country will take it out as most countries are in the mix except for Greece and maybe Spain. The USA take on Greece later today, if Greece don't get the win then they will be out.

Zverev has really started to play to his full potential, and I feel that makes Germany favourites to win it, I feel he can single handedly win it for them. What I'm starting to like about Zverev is he refuses to give into pressure, and doesn't loose focus irrespective of the opponent. Also it's pertinent to note that Federer seems to have found some momentum, as many including me had written his chances of him winning for his country.
6512  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum set for January spike on: December 30, 2018, 05:36:12 PM
The upcoming hard-fork raised investors interest to ethereum and now it looks more bullish than bitcoin. I think in early January, ethereum will return to $ 200, and then everything will depend on the global market situation.

Whenever a hard fork is coming there's always expectations that prices will hike, but let's not forget not all forks may have a positive effect. I have often said it and I'll say it again, do not fall for famous people predictions as cryptos are volatile. While I'm not sure how much effect fork will have, there is a positive news regarding it's adoption which has grown, and which I believe will be a factor in price hike going ahead.
6513  Economy / Economics / Re: The market is looking healthy and greener all over again on: December 30, 2018, 02:36:57 PM
Yes I agree with you that the market is improving.
But the improvement is not yet full.
Hopefully , by early2019 it will recover fully.
The prices of coins are all rising and relatively stable these days.

Hey yes we're seeing small but positive movements in bitcoins prices, it seems people are finally buying in dips. I feel it'll take a while to fully see the impact of people's buying, and if there's major surge in the buying volumes we may see greater upward movements. Also with January events lined up i.e. Nasdaq Bitcoins Futures launch and possibly launch of Bakkt we should see good movements in prices.
6514  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: December 30, 2018, 11:53:00 AM

Indeed Juventus look like champions already and by opening that massive nine point lead on top of the Serie A league log, and with the rest of the other teams performing averagely i agree with you that it's a one horse race now. Inter-Milan should have done better and Napoli seem to be out of steam so it looks like a forgone conclusion in Italy.

I don't think anyone had any doubts in their minds that Juventus wouldn't end up as champions, and at current pace it's a matter of few more matches before they're declared champions. I believe Ronaldo only strengthened an already strong Juventus, but winning this league is easy if they don't win champions league their season won't be counted as a success. It's also sad to see so many racist chants against players, I hope fans will stop these kind of chants going ahead.
6515  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Europa League/Champions League Lounge on: December 30, 2018, 08:25:37 AM
I think you have a point there because the bigger clubs that exit the champions league group stages after finishing third gain automatic entry into the Europa league and it's indeed biased against the smaller clubs looking at the annual expenditure of some of those clubs like Chelsea for instance, they can virtually pay off opposing teams for them to loose or outplay them with their big stars and win the trophy easily and so i will admonish Uefa to develop systems in the near future to curb these imbalances and promote fair play.

While I agree that Champions League rules give an unfair advantage to the big clubs, I believe it's an opportunity for the small clubs to step up and gain more experience against the big clubs. Also there have been calls to scrap the champions league exit and entry rule into Europa League, but I don't see it happening as clubs and the leagues will loose out on revenue. I don't think Chelsea would do it especially for a cup like Europa, many top teams don't really prioritise it. They only will try winning it if they will be finishing outside top four in their league, and wish to have direct entry in champions league by winning the Europa cup.
6516  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is bitcoin and crypto currency ALWAYS getting hacked?? on: December 30, 2018, 05:46:05 AM
my account always got hacked, not my bitcoin wallet and crypto but my google and facebook. my bitcoin wallet never got hacked, so dont said 'always' even my bitcoin never got it

Hey if you're not aware then let me remind you bitcoins security features make it unhackable, no one can hack your bitcoins but the same can't be said about exchanges or places where you store them. If you will remember in the past so many exchanges have claimed they were hacked, and they decided to shut down and people lost their coins but it's always an insider hand in the hacking. Let's take the latest electrum wallet phishing case where updates were send inside the wallet, and many gullible investors lost their coins as the wallet was hacked not bitcoins.
6517  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What choices will you take now ? on: December 29, 2018, 05:33:30 PM
What do you do with your junk coins? almost all new Altcoin don't have good prices to make a profit.
Will there be a rule about a good project that doesn't produce junk coins? Disappointing. Undecided

Hey there's a reason these are called alts, one should not invest in them without understanding the risks involved. I'm not sure which coins you're currently holding, but if you're holding popular alts like bitcoins cash, ripple, and Ethereum then I would advise you to hodl them. I would also advise you to shun the ico market, as most of them are scam, sec is working on a guidelines for Ico's but those guidelines will take quite a while.
6518  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is Coinbase safe to store currency? on: December 29, 2018, 02:44:43 PM
This might sound like a basic question but bare with me I’m a beginner. I’ve been reading about some nightmares people have had losing their money. Is Coinbase safe? And besides having a secure password and pin is there anything else I should be doing? Would appreciate the help.

Cheers

Hey I would answer yes and at the same time i would say no, it's an exchange and they often get hacked and people loose money. It doesn't matter how strong your pin is you do not have your seed or private key to move your coins, and that's something I'm personally not comfortable with. Also if coinbase decides to lock your account you loose access to your coins, I would suggest you to avoid exchanges and use a wallet which gives you your seed and private key.
6519  Economy / Speculation / Bitcoins 2018 speculations that will make you LOL! on: December 29, 2018, 11:10:36 AM
As the year 2018 is finally coming to end, and the so called experts and analysts are out giving their take on 2019 prices let's revind back and see some of the outrageous predictions of 2018.

1)Thomas Lee first predicted prices would touch 25k, later in the year he adjusted it to 13k and now he's not interested in making any more predictions lol.

2) Second on my list is John McAfee who tweeted bitcoins shall touch 1 million by 2020, which definitely won't be happening.

3) Third and last for now is Tyler Winklevos who predicted bitcoins prices to reach 1 Lakh dollars, and as we discuss we're no where close to even his predictions.

There're many others who predicted different numbers, but my point is simple no one can predict Bitcoins prices and buying solely on such predictions is suicidal.

If you intend to buy bitcoins, I recommend you to do your own research, buy for the technology for it's features not based on people words hopefully you'll now make more informed choices going ahead.
6520  Economy / Speculation / Re: Holders should get out if bitcoin falls under $3200 says bear trader on: December 29, 2018, 07:06:09 AM
I am not a technical analysis expert, however, bitcoin would be oversold under $3200 and it would be the right time to buy than to sell, wouldn't it?

What is the basic rule of trading again? Buy low, sell high[/i

Recently, Mark Dow, a preeminent hedge fund manager and skilled chartist, took to Twitter on Tuesday to make an unexpected declaration. In a tweet seemingly poking fun at crypto’s zealous bulls, Dow wrote that he would be saying goodbye to his Bitcoin (BTC) short, which he purportedly opened during the asset’s peak in late-2017.

In a phone interview with Bloomberg, the ostensible Bitcoin bear made it clear that his tweet wasn’t made in jest, adding that he was “done” with the position. Speaking to the outlet, Dow explained that he doesn’t “want to try and ride this thing to zero,” potentially indicating that he sees some semblance of value in BTC. Equating his anti-BTC forecast to a lemon, he stated:

“I don’t want to try to squeeze more out of the lemon. I don’t want to think about it. It seemed like the right time.”
The current head of a Southern California family office then explained that he already took profits twice this year, making the covering of his controversial short more than logical, especially from a risk management standpoint.

Just a few weeks later, Dow has taken to Twitter again, this time to paint a bearish picture for BTC’s prospects, specifically from a technical analysis outlook. The American economist recently wrote that BTC’s chart remains “beautiful,” but noted that if the asset cannot breach the $5,000 or $6,000 prices levels in a bounce, “cyberbulls” will be in for a tough time.

There's so much daily drama regarding the entry and exit into bitcoins that many investors have stopped paying attention to such calls, also since when do you listen to a bear trader to make profits?. I would suggest all to make a decision based on whether they have the funds to buy and hodl for long term, irrespective of the short term fluctuations, or sell only if there's an emergency. I feel investors are wise these days, and they can take smart decisions but in my personal opinion the bear trader opinion is horribly wrong.
