6521  Economy / Economics / Re: Can One Sentence End the Financial Crisis? on: April 24, 2020, 09:36:02 PM
Reverting back to the gold standard will never solve US' economic woes. It has to be more than that really, plus the fact that once they really proceed with such plan, gold bugs with tons of gold in their bunkers would become seemingly powerful.

Add this to the list of Trump stating preposterous things in order to 'make America great again' but continues to drag the US down with his administration and careless remarks on literally about anything. If you give the power to a man-child spending lots of time on Twitter rather than doing whatever job a president has to do, you will have these ill results the US is experiencing right now. Now you have this statement, without even thinking of the possible outcomes of such a move. Classic Trump for publicity since the election is also nearing once more.

Now going back to the gold standard, what I think would strengthen the US dollar is to not make it backed by gold but rather improve economic policies and trade relations, not with scaring off other countries by being the big man with the big guns!

Trump has talked up the gold standard in the past to please conservatives but the notion is ridiculous at this point in time. It would only be done after a full US government default and currency reboot and even then, an outright gold standard is unlikely.

That's how I actually see it as well. Him saying things about reverting back to US' roots is just to please people that he needs in order to help him vie for a re-election. No such thing as 'reverting to gold standard' will ever happen again, as most countries still find confidence in the US dollar amid the crises that are happening around--plus the fact that they have loads of the said currency in their stash, too.
6522  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Its almost impossible to buy on: April 24, 2020, 08:25:43 PM
I wouldn't risk getting my info out for $20-$30 of bitcoin, ever. If you really want to buy bitcoin, the best thing that you can do is to post a listing here on this forum and hope someone will take up on the offer. But even that would be somewhat of a stretch considering that there are a few Iranians here that do business in the forum. It's also hard to use debit/credit cards to receive and to send money from your country given that you could get a lot of trouble once you are caught.

If OP can get US and UK Amazon cards and from other companies to sell here then they should do fine. There's always steady demand for stuff like that. I'd even consider having one myself as long as he can guarantee I won't get a Hellfire up my arse.

Yes, gift cards seem to be one way to circumvent any unnecessary attention, and there's loads of it in the forum but I'm not sure how can OP secure one given his state. It's quite a paradox for OP but if he can find a way to at least get some of those--and I'm pretty sure there are tons of online sellers out there that can take his money for it--he'd be fine.

I can take up on the offer though if I have some coins to spare. There are no known repercussions here in my country if I ever dealt with someone from Iran so I'm good.
6523  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: YouTube sued By Ripple on: April 24, 2020, 08:21:33 PM
A weak case against YouTube, I'd say. Given that YouTube was actively banning cryptocurrency-related ads within the fast few years even resulting to lots of users complaining about YT's censorship on their own video platform. This is what happens when a company runs a cryptocurrency: they'd be quick to point fingers on who does what that led to misfortunes of many, all the while not actively campaigning against it for themselves. It's already a given fact that scammers would use cryptocurrency as an avenue to perpetrate their scams. Does YouTube have something to do with it? No.

I'm not putting Google at a good light but rather pointing out that they had been vilifying cryptocurrencies for far too long that I don't think the case will hold any weight on the courts. They might blame the faulty algorithm for not sorting it out but then again, whatever Google does, people will always see something bad out of it. Let's see how Google will respond to this case against them.
6524  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Philippines Leads the World in Terms of Cryptocurrency Ownership on: April 24, 2020, 08:01:01 PM
While this is definitely a report pondering on, I still believe na malaki ang difference ng word na "reported" dito sa inilabas ng Hootsuite.

The data could have been recovered from custodial wallet providers such as coins.ph knowing na marami na talaga ang gumagamit ng naturang serbisyo dahil nga sa ease of access sa iba't ibang bagay kagaya na lamang ng loading at payments sa power, internet at utility bills. Add to the fact ang growing exposure ng karamihan sa atin sa mga bounties ng iba't ibang altcoins, at painful mang sabihin, eh yung mga scams related to cryptocurrencies na rin na lumalala ng lumalala unfortunately dito sa ating bansa.

Big countries na kagaya ng Japan, S. Korea at iba pang "crypto-friendly" countries ay may pabor din sa privacy ng kanilang assets when it comes to publicized reports like these, kaya siguro malaki ang difference ng ating datos kumpara sa kanila. Either way, at the least nailagay ang Pilipinas sa mapa when it comes to cryptocurrency usage and ownership. Not too shabby for a developing country na may malaking potential.

6526  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Your Gambling Life During Quarantine on: April 24, 2020, 06:59:27 PM
I switched from casino-based gambling to just dice and coin flips for virtual game items and not primarily cryptocurrency. I have little to no time gambling and there aren't much outlets here that I can use to buy crypto, so I resort to using my in-game items in several online games that I play for gambling and it has been working pretty well so far--not to mention the enjoyment that it also brings after shift and when I'm alone at home. I still do 15-hr shifts every day but still manage to get an hour or so of gambling on some days when I'm not tired and it's pretty satisfying seeing greens on the balance.
6527  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin spread rapidly on ‘China Twitter’ the price will rise before halving on: April 24, 2020, 06:27:47 PM
I have visited Weibo with the help of a Chinese friend and the situation doesn't seem to be as big as what this post wants to portray.

The Chinese are always there for any money-making opportunity, no doubt about it. And bitcoin seems to be the perfect fit given the entire situation of the world's economy. Putting money into bitcoin right now before the halving craze would be the best thing, though I doubt that actual price will rise almost immediately since looking back, halving never really took the easy way up.

It could also be bots 'tweeting' things re: bitcoin halving on Weibo in order to ring bells and make it look like the Chinese are organically recognizing bitcoin already and not just the few techie people that are already engaged in bitcoin-related activities.
6528  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA : Complete Domestic Competitions! on: April 24, 2020, 11:26:36 AM
This should come with careful planning and close coordination with countries involved wherein matches will take place. While there may be no spectators or audiences on the stadium to watch the said games, I'm pretty sure UEFA would try and make money by making the viewership somewhat exclusive to those paying fans (kinda like PPV) but idk whether they will implement it or not. That's the only way they can make money through viewership. I'm sure most of the people will be pissed, but UEFA isn't above any law--they must abide by the rules currently in place that are set by countries to practice social distancing and to further limit the spread of COVID-19.
6529  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: BEWARE OF HUNTER'S SYNDROME.... on: April 23, 2020, 08:50:25 PM
Blame the projects for putting in little effort to their coin/whatever and just pay pennies to those 'bounty hunters' to fix their shit for them.

I have nothing against bounty hunters. There is money to be made in that field. What I don't really like are scam projects with half-finished proposal offering it to the public and just expect bounty hunters to complete them, all the while paying for mere pennies. That is where the problem for bounty hunters come in. With these easy-going projects requiring minimal effort/qualifications to enter the campaign, many will take advantage of the offer and the real problem while the devs or project managers are sitting pretty waiting their shit to be done while paying less. While this creates a market for the bounty hunters to make money, this also creates an avenue and the line of thinking for lazy devs to create a coin/whatever and spend little to no effort in them. Why would they even care of going all out in a project if there's a multitude of bounty hunters out there, right?
6530  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Has this period killed your desire or exited it on: April 23, 2020, 05:10:09 PM
Nope, right now I'm just binge-watching several games from NBA and MLB, especially those sealed within the history of the said sports as one of the most memorable games of all time. It's actually quite amusing to watch these games again since they still give the thrill and excitement even though I already know the outcome. Once normalcy resumes in our daily loves and most leagues are also back in track, I'd definitely want to spend some money, time and dedicate my excitement towards the league I grew up to love. Perhaps we may miss a season of action in the big leagues, but once it resumes, see the grit and the eagerness of everyone to return to the playing field and play/bet their hearts out.
6531  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Many cryptocurrencies — how important is that for you in casinos? on: April 23, 2020, 03:39:37 PM
I am playing with either ETH or XRP, but withdrawing for bitcoins as that is mainly what I'm after why I'm gambling. If the option isn't available, I withdraw XRP and ultimately trade it for BTC anyway, as XRP is no doubt one of the fastest cryptocurrencies to confirm out there together with ETH. What I'm trying to eliminate as much as possible is losses during transfer, and fast confirms as well. XRP and ETH offers that, while in terms of playing with which crypto, there's not much of a difference honestly.
6532  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Implement a Max Bet Option on Sportsbooks on: April 23, 2020, 01:15:11 PM
I thought this was more of a MAX bet option similar to what's implemented on most casino-based gambling sites, and seeing that this is only for limiting the amount of bet a gambler can do, I don't think bookies will EVER implement that.

They have pretty disclaimers on their websites that they aren't forcing you to deposit or anything, and if most of you people are actually reading ToS for such sites, you can see that most of them explicitly state that they aren't the ones to blame should you lose your money. They know full well that some gamblers will be tilted to the point that they will bet carelessly once they reached their tilting point, and that is where they make loads amounts of money that keeps their boat afloat.
6533  Economy / Economics / Re: Free rent and no mortgage - new stimulus from US government!!!! on: April 22, 2020, 07:33:54 PM
Seems like the Americans think that the government cares too much about them, without knowing that it will grab them by the pu**y after all of these things are said and done. The US gov't seem to be pretty generous to their citizens as of late, possibly due to the up and coming elections but idk. The response to the pandemic seem to also be received quite well by the Americans, although of course these things aren't for free and someone has to pay all those money that have been tossed in the air. Then again, all of these things are proposed and are subject to further modifications that the government sees fit. Regardless, it's a good time to be an American citizen receiving all these funds, and smart to move out of the country once things are over.
6534  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is 51% attack a crime? on: April 22, 2020, 06:52:29 PM
BTC is a decentralized network unprotected by such damages. I don't think there are laws in which miners and other people holding bitcoin are being protected by such direct attacks to the network, but if the courts rule this as economic sabotage or damage to properties or something along the lines, there is a possibility that the perpetrator of the attack to be tried or even put behind bars. But generally, there are no known laws concerning bitcoin and 51% attack in general. Heck, anyone can do it, but the resources needed to do it isn't a joke and is pretty much demanding on its own accord that it's not really worth doing it.
6535  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Analyst: "Covid-19 Could Spur More States to Legalize Online Casino" on: April 22, 2020, 05:30:03 PM
Seeing that they need to recoup some of that money that they gave away, there is a possibility that the government goes through this route. I mean, essentially the economy is on a standstill and nothing is really producing profits right now for taxes except online gambling casinos. Some states are considering reopening despite the fact that the situation is still gravely delicate and dangerous. Online gambling poses no risk for social contact and is really a convenient way to gamble and take profits. Perhaps the governments would look into it, but I doubt that they will fully support it 100% just because of the situation at hand.
6536  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are blockchain & 5G offering new opportunities for online bitcoin casinos? on: April 22, 2020, 03:10:33 PM
Blockchain, yes. 5G? Not so much. Not every country would be in for the developments and improvements brought about by 5G connectivity. As of now, there is very little coverage of 5G any where in the world--and there are still some areas wherein 4G isn't even fully implemented yet. I'm also pretty sure that 5G expansion in some established areas are also halted as of this moment considering that the dangers of the virus still lingers around every corner of the world.

As for blockchain, I'm pretty sure it already changed a thing or two in ways how gambling sites handle their withdrawal and deposit systems. With it, one can easily sort which is which all the while having a robust and secure system on the side.
6537  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is Bitcoin creating panic again? on: April 21, 2020, 08:27:46 PM
Attempts to breach $7300 have been made today and apparently all of those were slammed hard. Strong resistance levels remain to be camped @ $6500, though I am not sure as to whether it can hold any further or no as we remain to be in the realm of economic uncertainty on all fronts. There are rumors that billions of dollars in stablecoins would be poured into bitcoin in the nearest future, although again it would be difficult to bank on these 'reports' unless it actually happens. And even if the said amount were to enter the market, I don't think its effects would be substantially felt by everyone knowing how $3B is a small drop in the ocean for bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
6538  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $3 billion in 'dust' to enter the market will push the bull run past the halving on: April 21, 2020, 07:21:49 PM
$3 billion is a pretty small figure IMO to cause a substantial bull run of astronomical proportions. Perhaps it will cause a small bump but that's just about it, afterwards it will be eaten by the sell orders trying to make out some nice profits especially those who bought @ $4000. If these people are really in it to make money, they would have done so earlier and not when the market clearly is stable and is going up. Timing is everything, and theirs in this instance is shit.

I wonder if they would really be ballsy to go all-in on cryptocurrencies amid the pandemic.. Well, it certainly wouldn't go to stocks or kept in cash either, so it's this market that they're going to disturb.
6539  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Localbitcoin KYC reply on: April 21, 2020, 12:03:42 PM
Looks like a weird response to me. Perhaps your country is under FATF investigation, or at least placed under a watchlist that's why LBC is acting as if you guys are all 'politically-exposed' or connected to some high-ranking officials that may or may not place their services at risk. Whatever the reason may be, the response really makes you think how are they conducting the checks for your KYC documents. It's also improbable that they are working hand-in-hand with the government in this case..
6540  Local / Others (Pilipinas) / Re: Mga may pera sa stocks, kamusta? on: April 21, 2020, 10:17:54 AM
Despite the pandemic, as weird as it is, on an uptrend ang S&P500 lol. But let's not forget that the stock market isn't the economy.

True, but I believe na it's only a matter of time before S&P 500 gets a big hit on its doorsteps. Some companies listed on the index ay nakaka-experience na ng paunti-unting paggalaw towards south, though hopefully hindi ito magtuloy-tuloy. Then again, the whole economy is tumbling down, at hindi malayong sumunod ang S&P 500 companies kung lumawig pa nang tuluyan ang quarantine sa maraming parts ng mundo.

Anyway, holding certain stocks for 6 months, my $AMZN holdings are doing really really well.

Yeah, $AMZN has been doing pretty well knowing na working pa naman most of its operations as of now--or until supplies last, ika nga. Most of its investors and traders na may hawak dito ay naniniwala na it can still fare better amid the pandemic, kaya siguro ganun na lamang ka-stable ang stock na ito.

Hi OP, its been a while since I decided to close out my account (withdrawn my funds) on COL financial but lately due this crisis ongoing, I am thinking to buy dome shares rspecially sa ngayon na down ang ekonomiya. Matagal ko ng hinihintay si Jolibee na bumaba and BDO. These are my two dream blue stocks on PSEi list and naghihintay lang ng tiyempo ng good entry for these two. Kasi kahit peso cost averaging method lugi talaga lalo na sa mga starter about 2-3 years ago kasi medyo mataas ang mga value nila.

I never really got involved directly sa stock trading dahil ang kuya ko talaga naghahandle niyan. Though sa portfolio na ipinakita niya sakin, JFC and BDO are our top gainers, among others. Magandang choice if you're looking for blue chips!

Well for me you did a good job investing on bitcoin and eth, but I am gonna risk some of my funds for the abovementioned blue chips.

Perks ng pagiging solo sa buhay. Should I lose it all on cryptocurrencies, walang kaso since kaya ko namang mabuhay from paycheck to paycheck. Besides, I still have my business on the side if all else fails. I do believe that bitcoin and ETH would be nice options as investment ngayong panahon ng quarantine dahil movers ang mga ito at hindi nakarely sa outside economy para umangat o mag-appreciate in value.
