thanks a lot for sharing responses and clarifying
didn't even know that Theymos was the only one developing the code.

good to learn more about bitcointalk.

but the long run is what makes me excited:

old chart but you get the idea, VRC is often quite cyclical.
6543  Other / Meta / What would we need to add 2FA on bitcointalk? on: September 16, 2018, 09:16:51 PM
I know this has been asked on the forum before
but i'd like to try to go a bit deeper on the question.

Are there any possibilities on admins making 2FA available on the forum and any interest on the subject?

First reason would be that it'd make users more secure.
with the raising of bounty campaigns, airdrops and so on, and even the thread of people selling bitcointalk accounts, this could be a meaningfull layer of security to protect users.

I know: We can put available 2FA on our main emails of bitcointalk accounts (and this is a must: if you haven't do it now!)
but still would be meaningfull to have it on the forum.

is it that hard to implement?  (legit question).

6544  Economy / Collectibles / Re: abstract paintings on: September 16, 2018, 09:06:09 PM
beautiful paintings
congrats on your work

do you sell it only here or also on other places/websites/fanpages?

6546  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][Main] Bitcore- BTX - Are you ready for the future? on: September 16, 2018, 08:46:12 PM
Why BTX is not listed on coinmarketcap? I see on this thread the BTX is already listed on many exchanges yet it is not on coinmarketcap, quite wierd.

it is listed on CMC
https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/bitcore/
6547  Other / Serious discussion / Re: What is the right religion? who to worship? on: September 16, 2018, 08:44:25 PM
Tim Maia, a brazilian singer, once said on the song "nobody can live forever":

Everybody is the same.

"There's no god, there's no heaven.
there's no devil, there's no hell"

there's no right and wrong, but many shades of truth.
but as usual: polarizing and splitting public opinion makes it easier to control people.

imho religion is one of the main tools of mass control.
6548  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk – Posts per Day - evolution during past six months on: September 16, 2018, 08:38:40 PM
thanks a lot for putting this data together @DdmrDdmr
the last table is specially valuable to understand better the merit system
how did you pull all the data? with a programming script?

as stated by @Helana the last table is specially valuable.

this thread was mentioned as well on the Merit & new rank requirements and again by me

as stated:

most merits per point are given on the following subjects (ordered):

Serious Discussion
Development and technical discussion
Meta
Bitcoin Technical support

(on the month of june, but with simmilar data to the last 6 months before it (first semester of 2018)
6549  Other / Meta / Re: Merit & new rank requirements on: September 16, 2018, 08:38:04 PM

<...>

There was a whole thread about that topic. Local subforums are, indeed, the sub-sections where most merit points are awarded. However, I think you'll only get some there if you speak the language well (or if you engage in illegal actions like merit trading).

Altcoin subforums are the second section regarding merit points, but the merit distribution there is very concentrated on what you already found out - original postings in ICO ANNs (which may be "unofficial" parts of bounty campaigns and thus, in reality, "illegal").

The reason that other altcoin posts are not likely to be awarded is simple: There is much spam there. I tried for some weeks to merit posters in the Altcoin Discussion forum that brought up some good contents, but it was so difficult to find good posts that I got bored and gave up. I think merit sources are also not likely to search the few pearls in the amount of trash there.

<…>Just out of curiosity: are there sub forums that usually there’s more merit exchange? I’m more often on the announcements for altcoins and usually only OPs get merit there.

Maybe I should explore more the other places of bitcointalk. Including local language communities. I barely gonto the portuguese and spanish sections.
As @d5000 mentioned above, Local Boards on aggregate constitute the most merited area, but we should consider that we’re aggregating 21 Local Boards here... That’s a large mass we’re aggregating (half of the subsections on all Bitcointalk). There are some local boards which from the overall perspective may seem really merited (Russian, Turkish and Indonesian are amongst the most), but this should be seen as relative to the number of posts on these boards, since the number of total merits on these boards does not reflect this and may be misleading.

Take a look at a post I created not too long ago: Bitcointalk – Posts per Day - evolution during past six months. Specifically checkout a section called "4. Merits per post Ratio". There you will see a column called "Merit/post" which tell us just that. The ratio of each individual local boards is not that great, and certainly does not standout.

<...>

definitely will start explore more the other sides of bitcointalk and contribute.
as DdmrDdmr stated on the linked article: maybe local forums won't be the best place if I'm aiming to earn more merits

according to this image posted

most merits per point are given on the following subjects (ordered):

Serious Discussion
Development and technical discussion
Meta
Bitcoin Technical support

(on the month of june, but with simmilar data to the last 6 months before it (first semester of 2018)

Is there a way to have a useful article for the community? I always try to use my knowledge to create value for the community but I have not been praised and granted a certificate of merit

definitely there is, just try to share valuable information.
for example:
this is my first post that got merited EVER, even though I made quality posts before.

Good Bitcoin Articles (more than 350 articles organized by topics)

it's a gathering of several usefull bitcointalk articles and can definitely be usefull for begginers

<...>

50 sMerits which can be distributed to only Newbies
50 sMerits which can be distributed to only Jr.Members and so on.

This should stop the people who are 'crying' over not receiving enough merit and pointing fingers towards bias distribution. I haven't gone through this thread, This may have been suggested before if it is I will delete this post right away.

definitely a good idea and probably would spread the merits in a more fair way!
totally agree with it
6550  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [Pre-TDE] Giza Device on: September 16, 2018, 07:44:42 PM

Nice project. The perfect device the market needs. For such devices the future! I wish success to the project and its team! Thank you! The market needs similar devices, those devices that are on the market can not compete with this, you really are a Swiss knife among crypts.

I really like the idea of creating a new type of hardware for storing cryptocurrencies. As they are becoming more and more popular and the whole cryptocurrency market is rapidly expanding, we can expect that many people will look for such devices in the near future, so the demand will be quite high. The device is small, it has good design and is very durable and even waterproof.
are these scam messages?
did you check the thread an saw that this is a SCAM?
6551  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★EquiTrader★EQT★🔹POW+POS🔹Monetizing Market Analysis On The Blockchain 📈 on: September 16, 2018, 07:38:52 PM
can anybody confirm if v1.0.0 is the latest version?
stopped getting connections yesterday

the weird thing is that I didn't find /equitrader folder on usual %appdata%/roaming directions
is it on a different location by default?

thanks
EQT-v1.0.0 Correct version. Take a look for peers at https://chainz.cryptoid.info/eqt/
Talking about Equitrader and chainz, only 10 days of hosting left. Not looking good  Undecided
Renewed for six months... Much better Cheesy

definitely much better!
but still kinda bad to not have updates or news from the dev
would love to know more if the project is fully dead or there's still some development going on
6552  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Good Bitcoin Articles (more than 350 articles organized by topics) on: September 16, 2018, 07:30:13 PM
Well, it takes time to make your list clickable but with spreadsheet is also good. Newbies that really wamt to learn that much should bookmark this thread or the spreadsheet or the articles you have listed. Nicely done with the update, been waiting for though but worth the time to wait especially with the link of every discussion for a specific article.

welcome, thanks for checking it!

the list is also always growing: I usually post it on my twitter, @lucasgabd when I add new articles to it.
anyone can feel free to send me new articles on twitter as well to add to the list.
6553  Other / Beginners & Help / A simple way to protect yourself from Discord Crypto SCAMS! on: September 16, 2018, 04:45:08 PM
(At first this was a twitter thread, then it became a steemit post, since it's quite usefull and important information I thought it would be good to post it here as well to inform as many people as possible and avoid more people getting scammed on discord)

How to protect yourself from Discord Crypto SCAMS! - A simple way

scams keep happening on @discordapp day by day and the team makes nothing to improve the platform. taking this into account these are some simple measures you can use to protect yourself:
(if possible share this so maybe they make it harder for users to impersonate others)

the 4-digt number (#0000) right in the side of your username can be customized if you have discord nitro (paid subscription).
This is one of the MAIN things that impersonators do to look like #crypto devs or whatever user and try to engage on a conversation and steal you.

as you can see. any nitro subscriber can easilly change it according to this article
don't fall for that! instead check their discord IDs, they're unique!
the tricky part is that Discord IDs are not available by default (come on @discordapp team!)

to make them available use this tutorial

this will already protect you from many Scammers. but remember that cryptocurrency devs usually won't contact you via inbox , try to sell you coins or access your computer remotely (team viewer or whatever). and always on internet: don't trust, verify!

Have you ever fell for any scammer on discord? tell your story on the comments. Share the knowledge, this could save someone.

Even better: does anyone has a known person who works at discord?
inform them about this major opsed flaw and maybe they correct it for future versions of the product.

some way it could be corrected in my opinion:

- not allowing non ascii characters on discord usernames (not even sure if this is the correct name of the characters, but some of the impersonators use dev names changing a small letter for a sub or sup character like: lucasgabd
this appears normal on the user list but different when you check and copy their profile names.
- not allowing users to change their pics for the same pic as other users
- MAKING IT EASIER TO CHECK DISCORD IDS AND ENABLED BY DEFAULT (this is a major issue)
- NOT ALLOWING USERS TO CHANGE THEIR FOUR-DIGIT #0000 DEFAULT NUMBER (wtf is this a feature to start with?)

as an user:
ALWAYS do you due diligence.

can think of any other possibilities on improving discord security?
6554  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Good Bitcoin Articles (more than 350 articles organized by topics) on: September 16, 2018, 04:29:43 PM
first: thanks for the link, will definitely explore it

That link is already in your list actually. Did you realize it just now?

Btw the link on your first post is still a short-link, might as well change it to the spreadsheet link. Some folks probably skip reading the thread after seeing that short-link.

hahahah you're right, totally forgot about it:
here's why: answered you on the phone and probably tired
and in the beggining I was organizing this list with a friend (@crossholder here on the forum) but he stopped posting the links, he was the one who added this list.
95% of the other links was added by me.
Wink

thanks for that! already updated the main thread with the non-shortened version of the bit.ly

Great job, merit goes to you.
Worth to spend time to read those. You will instantly gain +5 to knowledge of Bitcoin world.
Many people here ask how to learn about bitcoin, this is it. (apart from watching bitcoin documentaries and andreas antonopolous videos if someone dont want to read Wink)

thank you so much! really appreciate it!
maybe nobody will read all of it since it's a lot, but it can definitely be usefull when searching specific subjects.
Andreas videos are golden! but doesn't cover all the subjects, specially when it comes to low caps altcoins, leverage, trading and other subjects besides bitcoin/society/economic system/government disruption...

thanks devs.
6556  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Good Bitcoin Articles (more than 350 articles organized by topics) on: September 12, 2018, 09:29:17 PM
<...> Don't use the list as the only source to learn about Bitcoin because it was written by a person who has some tendencies.

I personally like this link: https://github.com/cmahon/awesome-cryptocurrency. It's a list on its own and it's pretty good.

first: thanks for the link, will definitely explore it

and yes, I agree with you that this list may not be the best place to first learn about Bitcoin and crypto but it's quite usefull after getting past of the initial learning moment and going on researching more in-deep subjects like investing strategies, trading, leverage, stable coins or other things.

updated the main topic with all the titles/topics created so far, as suggested by @BQ

I disn’t receive any payment for this week. How to know if I was accepeted for the campaign or not? And if not is there a rreason?

You can check yourself in the list of participants.
You are in the week 11 list.

Week 11 participants:
Code:
id,name,position,posts,merits,address
1002159,Lucasgabd,Full Member,1350,100,0x0e1af677da3a7676221fe3381e20d7ccfaa8d3b6

Oh, thanks a lot
I was on the phone and it was quite hard to scroll and search for my name.
As a suggestion to the OP: it'd be easier to have a list of the names out of the "scrolling" feature to make it easier to search

cheers

I think we should remember that Cryptopia is a very low volume exchange. As well that many traders do not care to participate in the airdrop. So when considering the points above I really look forward to see a higher volume exchange list this token.

Why not doing the airdrop on the same exchange they dod the swap?
And doing it sooner?
