6561  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Legacy address on: May 20, 2021, 12:07:25 AM
Segwit is the default since version 4.1.0 and up.

You can use segwit to reduce the fee in a transaction, segwit reduces 42% to about 52% of fee in a transaction if compared with legacy depending on the transaction inputs and outputs but most especially inputs. Because of this, for people not to waste unnecessary fee on legacy transactions, segwit is made default. I think this is a cool and best idea, nobody should use legacy wallet again in my opinion.

But please, is there any good reason you want to create legacy wallet?
6562  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Unconfirmed paper wallets sweep, "unconfirmed parent" afterwards ... on: May 19, 2021, 07:45:33 PM
If you can't increase the fee of your first transaction, there's no direct point of increasing the second transaction. Not sure if miners will include a parent transaction just because there's a child transaction paying a lot in fees. As it seems, you've chosen 137 sat/byte and it hasn't helped.
If the child transaction is paying high fee that can get both the child and parent transaction confirmed, miner will not have option than to confirm the parent transaction along with the child transaction, which means both transactions will be confirmed at ones as a result of the high fee paid for the child transaction that can get two (child and parent) transactions confirmed.

What does the user expect to see in an email from a stranger?
You are right, some of the emails are completely strange, but some people because of ignorance will still click on such strange emails. But, some email senders will almost have the name almost (99%) the same as that of legit companies like banks and crypto exchanges, this can make some people having account in such bank or exchanges to click on such emails. Some people would have been scammed before not knowing the email is not from the original company but from scammers. That is why I do not even bother clicking on unauthorized emails.

Are hardware wallets on big online stores in Nigeria safe to buy

As we know the two biggest online stores in Nigeria, Jumia and Konga, I checked recently the two online stores to know if they are having hardware wallet, specifically Trezor and Ledger Nano. I searched for Trezor Model T and Ledger Nano X which are more expensive than Trezor Model One and Ledger Nano S. Not even only that the former are more expensive, but they also support more coins and they are manufactured after the later, which means the former are latest and better.

I was thinking why the two biggest stores in Nigeria only have resellers for Trezor One and Ledger Nano S, I am thinking it is possible these are the used ones which someone in Nigeria has used before, repacking it and selling it as new, I am not sure about this and that is why I am asking the question. I think if truly the resellers got it directly from the Trezor and Ledger company, the resellers should not found it difficult to get Trezor T and Ledger Nano X along to sell.

6565  Economy / Reputation / Re: My negative trust on: May 19, 2021, 11:10:02 AM
I comeback to make money. But I'm really ashamed of what I did in the past.  I want to apologize and I will correct that mistake.
This depends on your posting quality, some people are able to join paying campaigns because such people have quality posts. Learn about Bitcoin, check other boards, post good and do not make this hard on yourself. If you have quality posts, people will merit you and you will progress.

But you really need to abide to the rules of the forum, you do not act like you were even once here by posting multiple posts in a row, you ought to have quoted all just in a post rather than having three different posts in a row. This makes me to be suspecting this account not to be originally yours.
6566  Economy / Reputation / Re: My negative trust on: May 19, 2021, 10:04:44 AM
I want to go back to the forum to learn, participate in bonus campaigns. Again I hope everyone can forgive and give me the opportunity to start over.
Do not get this wrongly, change your behavior against what resulted to your account given negative trust, very possible your negative trust can be changed if the person that gave you see a good reason to change it.

This type of negative trust shouldn't affect you to join a signature campaign in my opinion (although, I do not know of bounties) if you have a good quality post, not that the negative trust is as a result of you joined one campaign with two accounts which campaign managers really hate. Try to prove that you have changed over period of time, post quality post, let people award you merits, try to join a campaign. At the time, you can further to message The Pharmacist how you have changed, that no more selling of account, and how you are serious with your account now. Then, he may consider to remove the red tag, he may even remove it sooner.

After this thread has been addressed, you will need to report any all of the account sale threads you created, edit it all to 'del' and report it all to moderators through the report button at the lower right side of each post for deletion.

I have some questions in my mind, how this hacker know your email address?
It can be as a result of data breach, data breach is a usual and frequent occurrence now, which means given out our information to even legit companies do not mean our information are safe. Also through other sites we register and fill in our information, like our information needed before claiming airdrop, there are even some giveaway that will require verification and nothing will be given after collecting the information. That is why it is very important to limit the information we share, and we should try all our best to avoid it.

6569  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Primary things a beginner should know. on: May 18, 2021, 11:30:59 PM
Anyone new to trading should know the following:

1. Trading is very risky, it can turn a millionaire to a poor person, and it can turn a poor person to a million
2. Most people lose than gain
3. Learn how to control emotions, some people will think they have controlled trading emotion but fall for the same emotional mistakes continuously
4. Professional traders are patient
5. Professional traders are not greedy
6. Traders always learn more how to trade
7. Traders do not calculate what to gain over certain period, they only strategize how to gain
8. Traders are disciplined
9. They have risk management strategies
10. They buy during fall after making use of indicators
11. They sell after coin price has risen, but they don't just sell, they strategize
12. New traders lose more than expected, but experiences teach them how to avoid past mistakes (very low amount to start trading because new traders will certainly lose, should even be far lower than what they can afford)
13. New traders should use money they can afford to lose.
6570  Economy / Scam Accusations / Bizarro Trojan hijacking Bitcoin wallets and stealing bank credentials on: May 18, 2021, 11:09:21 PM
It is not good to click on emails without taking proper look, there are some mails that can contain malware links, clicking on the such links will install malware on device used. This malware called Bizarro is a Brazilian malware which have gone viral stealing information on Android devices, it has a way of hijacking bitcoin wallet, steal bank credentials and it has a back door.

A never-before-documented Brazilian banking trojan, dubbed Bizarro, is targeting customers of 70 banks scattered throughout Europe and South America, researchers said. According to an analysis from Kaspersky released Monday, Bizarro is a mobile malware, aimed at capturing online-banking credentials and hijacking Bitcoin wallets from Android users. It spreads via Microsoft Installer packages, which are either downloaded directly by victims from links in spam emails or installed via a trojanized app, according to the analysis.

Once installed, it kills all running browser processes to terminate any existing sessions with online banking websites — so, when a user initiates a mobile banking session, they have to sign back in, allowing the malware to harvest the details. To maximize its success, Bizarro disables autocomplete in the browser, and even surfaces fake popups to snatch two-factor authentication codes, researchers added.

Bizarro also has a screen-capturing module. “It loads the magnification.dll library and gets the address of the deprecated MagSetImageScalingCallback API function,” explained Kaspersky researchers. “With its help, the trojan can capture the screen of a user and also constantly monitor the system clipboard, looking for a Bitcoin wallet address. If it finds one, it is replaced with a wallet belonging to the malware developers.”

And finally, Bizarro also has a main backdoor module that is capable of carrying out more than 100 commands, according to the analysis.

That is why it is not good to click on unauthorized emails, although there are unauthorized emails that contain no malware or phishing links, but just a warning how email messages can have a malware link that can be hazardous to privacy and security.
6571  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Should I create a new segwit wallet? on: May 18, 2021, 09:55:35 PM
I think I should store my btc in a segwit wallet.
Yes, for low fee. If you use segwit, the fee will be reduced by 42% for 1 input and 2 output transactions, the amount you can save increases as the input increases, the fee will be reduced by 50% for 10 inputs and 2 output transactions. So, segwit reduces transaction fee.

Should I create a new segwit wallet and simply send my btc there?
This is the best option. Make sure you are using the latest version of electrum, check https://electrum.org to check the latest version, version 4.1.1 and up will create a segwit wallet by default. You can just create a new wallet (or second wallet on the same updated version of the electrum wallet app), send the bitcoin on the old wallet to the new wallet. Then, delete the old wallet after the Bitcoin has been successfully sent and confirmed.

Is there a way to upgrade my wallet without incurring a fee?
No in this case. You can import the seed phrase to the new wallet without fee needed, but this will still be your old legacy wallet.

Is there a way to retain the history (not a major issue if not) from the old wallet?
No. You are transferring to new wallet entirely which will begin its own new history.

Edit:
Do not forget to make a proper offline seed phrase backup of your newly created segwit wallet, having like three offline seed phrase backups which should be stored in different safe locations.
6572  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Having issues with 2FA and cannot log into Bittrex account on: May 18, 2021, 08:48:00 PM
<...>
I may not be totally correct about this because I am using Android phone for it, not computer. I am using Android device, I have both google authenticator and Aegis for testing. The only backup I saw on google authenticator is a QR code which is able to link all the secret codes generated from different sites authentication codes in such a way a single QR code export is needed. On google 2FA, I clicked on 'transfer account's, then I clicked on 'export accounts', inputted my device password, and select on the accounts I wanted to export or backup, I clicked on next and it generated a single QR code, I imported it on Aegis and it was successful, three sites 2FA codes were successfully imported into Aegies at ones. Although, I am using phone for this, it can be different on computer.

The question is how can I get the secret code back up, it was QR code google authenticator is displaying for export which can also be used as backup. Also, I am confused as you said the secret code can not working on other 2FA apps, while the QR code for export which can also be used as backup is working.

Although, I am not implying QR code backup is recommended, the use of secret code is recommended for safety reasons.
6573  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: This Forum Members What's Wrong with You? on: May 18, 2021, 08:38:15 PM
Do You like expensive fees?
Ignorance makes people like you to pay expensive fee, I made a transaction of 10 sat/vbyte easily. Even, I had one of 3 sat/vbyte that I made yesterday and confirmed yesterday. Use segwit, check mempool observer to study feerate. I know USDT (TRC 20) has fast transaction, but know that fiat will always devaluate, USDT is pegged with fiat US dollars.

Well all of You instead paying for 2$ for coffee at cofeeshop pay 7$ extra lol...
So far the coffee shop accept Bitcoin, you can try and introduce lightning network to the owner so that people can use lightning network to pay low fee, lightning network fee is far lower than Tron fee, the transaction is also fastest.
6574  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Having issues with 2FA and cannot log into Bittrex account on: May 18, 2021, 07:22:06 PM
Hi again

I must point out that i don't have my original phone i set my this up on.  It is broken and the screen is unreadable. I DO have the secret codes though thankfully.  I am struggling with how i can use these to help me log in though.
I will advice you to download Aegies, setup password instead of using finger print (biometry). After the setup, you will see a red button at the lower right side with plus sign in it, click on it, press on 'enter manually' if you have the secret code that you generated from the Bittrex exchange account, then input the secret code, this should work, making it TOTP that will be changing every 30 seconds will be perfect.
6575  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Trezor One/ Trezor Model T questions.. on: May 18, 2021, 06:26:16 PM
Since I don't have my new Model T yet, I was watching some YT videos. I bought the Model T so I can see/access my Cardano on it.
Do I need to go through a 3rd party website to actually do that?
Daedalus, Yoroi, and Adalite?
dkbit98 has answered this question correctly, you will need AdaLite or Yoroi wallet. For more help, you can use this link, Cardano (ADA) - Trezor Wiki to know the procedure of how you can use AdaLite which can also be helpful while connecting Trezor with Yoroi.
6576  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Samsung Hardware Wallet on: May 18, 2021, 05:58:23 PM
Smartphones are some of the most stolen goods on the planet. I don't see any good in this news.
We are even now in the world of lies where big companies will be making blatant lying information, if they make a hardware wallet phone, how can we be so sure it is truly offline wallet, also I doubt that this kind of wallet can be open source. There is truly nothing bad to just go for the hardware wallet that is not incorporated on phones that can not be easily stolen, hardware wallet is not a device someone should be carrying about like phones as carrying it about decreases it safety.
6577  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Having issues with 2FA and cannot log into Bittrex account on: May 18, 2021, 05:36:37 PM
Thank you so much for your help with this. I will try the Aegis authenticator and hopefully this should resolve the issue.
This issue is not about you changing authenticator app, it is about you making sure the time on your device is correct. Try go to your device setting and check if possible the time can be set automatic rather than manual if set to manual, then change it to automatic.

About using Aegies, it is far better than google 2FA, but also I can recommend you andOTP which is also good with password/pin protection rather than google 2Fa which you can not enable password/pin, also both are open source unlike Google 2FA that is completely close source which is the obvious reason you should not use it.

If that doesn't solve it either, contact their support to disable your 2fa for you.
If the time is correct, it will perfectly work. Also if no kyc has been done on such platform, the customer care may due to no kyc reason not disable the 2FA. It is getting disabled for people that have verified accounts, or at least email verification, even more verification in many cases.
6578  Other / Meta / Re: Need help about account on: May 18, 2021, 01:55:14 PM
What if he didn't told us about this fact and start posting with a new account ? There is no way to tell then if a person was banned previously and now using a new account ?
If someone is banned already, he can open another account but most likely he will have the same posting style like that of the previously banned account(s), that is why it is not only the account that was banned, but the person that owns the account. Like if someone is a spammer and he is banned, he will most likely open another account and make the same mistake that will result to another (new account) ban.
6579  Other / Meta / Re: Need help about account on: May 18, 2021, 12:25:21 PM
maybe I will start all over again with this new account. Can you tell me a topic that provides steps that beginners must do in order to rank up?
In order to rank up, you'll need to have merits and activity. In summary, you slowly gain activity points for staying active and merits for making useful/helpful posts.
The issue of his banned account must be addressed first, he can not just start using this account now (aside posting in meta about the banned account) once that is resolved, he can then be using this one or the old receovered one depending on the final discussion. If not, this account will only be considered as ban evasion which can result to another ban.
6580  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin TapRoot Update? on: May 18, 2021, 09:39:59 AM
Is it known or can it be roughly calculated by how much the Taproot upgrade will increase Bitcoin't transaction capacity? Are we talking substantial increase or just a minor improvement?
Before you will be able to get clearer view and able to know answers to your question, know that Taproot is about key aggregation, the more there are public keys used to open a multisig wallet, the more the transaction fee, schnorr signature will be able to aggregate the keys during transaction, this makes multisig transaction indistinguishable and making it to have low fee, irrespective of the numbers of keys used to open the multisig wallet that makes use of schnoor signature for signing, the transaction fee will be the same.

To understand more about this:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5140134.msg57011585#msg57011585

But if you think it will make transaction fee very low, it does not work that way, the activation will focus more reducing multisig transaction fee and making such transaction indistinguishable from single payment wallet.
