<snip>
@Charles-Tim you talk well.
But shouldn't Bitcoin payment be an option? I understand the high fees and how it would be expensive to withdraw out for the organizer but not everyone uses USDT and those who don't use it need a way to still stay anonymous. Wetin una think?
I will give appropriate response soon, please be patient. Very possible we will soon add Bitcoin address for payment also. I am also thinking about people using noncustododial wallet and receiving payment in Bitcoin, this will make it hard to use USDT and some people may not want to use Naira. This is a good suggestion.
6582  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria Local Board {Official language, Pidgin} on: May 12, 2021, 02:34:27 PM
That one week make sense and make we try put the date wey e go end so every pesin go follow up and mak we make sure say if we close the date
I later included the date. Thanks for the suggestion.

Payment time range is within a week and some days (from 12th of May to 22nd of May, that is 10 days from now).
6583  Economy / Speculation / Re: Would it be foolish to take out a crypto loan at this stage of the bull market? on: May 12, 2021, 01:43:57 PM
If you are afraid of taking loan in Bitcoin due to its price that may increase, then go for fiat-pegged coins like USDT, BUSD or USDC and the likes.

The Ian Coleman website is using javascript, in a browser to generate entropy and your seed... I'm not sure I would be comfortable calling it "safe". Undecided
If you consider using it on broswer in offline mode not comfortable, you can still run its HTML file on an airgapped device.
6586  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Donating to a miner's address, what kind of "change" would I expect? on: May 12, 2021, 11:42:46 AM
<...>
You are right, I even create a thread recently on bitcoin discussion board, the thread is about MARA mining pool and there was a quote:

Quote
“By excluding transactions between nefarious actors, we can provide investors and regulators with the peace of mind that the bitcoin we produce is ‘clean’, ethical and compliant with regulatory standards,” Marathon said in a statement.

So theoretically this type of coins should be called clean bitcoin including the ones mined by miners as block reward. I am not implying MARA are confirming clean bitcoin transactions because their statement is not even entirely true for now, but just an illustration.
6587  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Donating to a miner's address, what kind of "change" would I expect? on: May 12, 2021, 09:24:22 AM
The only coins that can be considered "clean" (relatively) are the coinbase reward sometimes it is also known as "virgin coins". I wouldn't even call the fees added to that reward "clean" specially in cases where the fee is intentionally too large.
But i think there should be differences between virgin Bitcoin (which is the block reward mined by miners) and clean bitcoin (which are Bitcoin that can not be linked back to the previous transactions). In my opinion, clean bitcoin are coins that can not be linked back to the original addresses. Like the one exchanged for monero and back into bitcoin in an absolute decentralized exchange, or the a mixing service provided by well rightly functioning mixers. Also Bitcoin transactions on CoinJoin wallets like Wasabi could be regarded as clean bitcoin as the transaction impossible to be tracked.
6588  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello, newbie looking for help/advice on: May 12, 2021, 08:56:30 AM
There are some decentralized exchanges like Bisq, you can learn how to use such exchanges, but for ease, you can still want to use a custodial exchange to buy, and move your fund to an offline wallet like the paper wallet you mentioned. I do not know the country you are from, but if you can have access to binance.com exchange, you can use it to buy Bitcoin without no passport or ID card verification needed, but little verification will be required which you can easily provide without leaving where you are.

Make sure you run Bitaddress source on an offline computer, airgapped preferably. After you have private key and address, it will be good to run electrum also on an airgapped environment and import the private key to check if your address correspond to the one generated by the paper wallet site, this is just to verify you generated the paper wallet rightly.

Alternatively, you can run electrum offline, generate seed phrase (electrum is not using BIP39 seed phrase), but the seed phrase will work on electrum anytime you want to spend. After seed phrase is generated, create new wallet, and copy the address you like to use. Backup the seed phrase offline and have like two duplicates, then delete the wallet. This is also just like a paper wallet.
6589  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Do you think the Trezor One will accept Carnado some day soon? on: May 12, 2021, 07:59:53 AM
You can use this Trezor official link about coins supported by their hardware wallets to check the cryptocurrencies supported by Terzor, you will noticed something, you will noticed that the coins that will likely be supported by Trezor that not yet supported are list as 'soon', also both Trezor Model T and Trezor Model One are not yet supporting the coins, these are new cryptocurrencies that are created not long ago. Cardano has been created since 2017, model T is already supporting it, which most likely model one will not support it. The best you can do is to contact Trezor customer care and ask the question or buy Trezor Model T that supports more cryptocurrencies.
6590  Local / Nigeria (Naija) / Re: Nigeria Local Board {Official language, Pidgin} on: May 11, 2021, 11:16:01 PM
By the way, I support the motion of donations to be in naira. If we go still donate (after we get more information), I suggest e be for both naira and USDT - TRC20 preferred for cheaper fees. At least anybody wey no get usdt fit use naira to contribute.
I believe if donation go come, we will have to make suggestion and decide which currency to be used. But in my opinion which I will still stand on at the time, I will support the donation to be in Naira. We are all making use of Naira, even converting crypto to Naira for daily living. Naira donation will be the best.

The usual currency most of us are receiving for payment is Bitcoin, I do not think there are Nigerians that are receiving payment in USDT, even if some are receiving payment in USDT, it may not be TRC20 USDT and they may no be receiving payment on exchanges but on noncustododial wallet. Some people no dey use exchange, but use noncustodial wallet for their payment, which may be the reason why they no go get access to USDT easily, not to talk of TRC20 USDT. The second we can suggest which I know all of us can easily access na Bitcoin because nearly all of us are paid in Bitcoin, but yet not all of us, and the high transaction fee is an obvious reason we may not consider using it when we have access to Naira that every one of us can easily have access to and use it for the payment.
6591  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Old Facebook account for sale on: May 11, 2021, 10:30:51 AM
This is a newbie account, someone must be careful. An easy way to scam unless reputed user's escrow service is used for this on this forum. Making deals like this without escrow may definitely lead to scam.
6592  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Shake a dice to create seed phrase / more than 24 words? on: May 11, 2021, 09:50:39 AM
I am concerned about Ian Coleman's tool having the same issue? Maybe not now, but in the future?
Iamcoleman is open source, if used in a safe offline or airgapped devices, then it is safe. If anything happens, it will only be the fault of the user not the Iancoleman HTML file.

I was wondering if I should shake a dice 256 times to generate my own entropy? Would that be considered more random than Crypto.getRandomValues()?
All I know is that generating seed phrase directly on Iancoleman which follow BIP39 standard is safe, also generating that on an open source wallets like Trezor that follow the BIP39 standard is also safe. If you do not generate the entropy carefully, you can make mistake, you will need to throw coins 256 times to write down the binary outputs, and the result should be as exactly as the coin is tossed. But, I will still again recommend you to generate the seed phrase directly.

Also I realized that the seed phrase can be more than 24 words long?
Less than 12 words seed phrase are not secure, but it is not more than 24 words on Iancoleman, but you can make use of passphrase to extent the words, maybe it is what you meant. More than 24 words seed phrase can be gotten, but not on Iancoleman and not on any wallet I have used, the maximum word is 24 unless you extend it with optional passphrase.

Is this more secure or just overkill?
If it is optional passphrase, it can help especially if an attacker saw the seed phrase and did not know the passphrase, he will still not be able to access your coins because passphrase generate another seed, keys and addresses entirely.

By the way, how do you key in your 24 words into Trezor? Say you already have a seed phrase and buy a brand new Trezor. What do you do then? There are only 2 buttons on Trezor right?
To recover back your coins, keys or address

Little Contribution to The Deceased Family(Becky666)

Death is inevitable; as a community who care for ourselves as foe suggest say make we put head together contribute little support to the family of Becky666 since we no go fit meetup the funeral, at least make him family members know say Becky get better friends for the forum him been dey work. Our pipo talk say rain nodey fall ontop one roof, my wish nobe say we go contribute money for only funerals,  No!!. Some of us fit get wedding, Birthday, child dedication wey as a community we go support too, like it or not we are family now..

My suggestions
I know say we pass 10 wey dey active for here and wey dey campaigns too..
$20
$25
$30
These na the money I for like make each of us contribute so I go leave for the house to deliberate on it.

Brainboss endorsed the idea so make I see wetin una think.
E make sense, I am in. But we need to be organized about this.

When the payment go start?
When the payment go end?
Also, maybe there should be lists of those that paid, and amount paid by each person (though, amount paid not necessary to me)
$20 and up should be the amount to be paid, but anyone that is not able to pay upto $20 can pay less than $20 (any amount should be welcomed, but the recommended payment should be $20 and up).
Is the payment going to be in Naira? This is local thread, I am suggesting it to be paid in Naira for ease. Or, what do other people think about this.

<...>
The reason the user has not been responding can be as a result of him to have seen the coin reflecting on his Trustwallet balance, or the coin is not successfully sent from Binance at all and remain on binance balance.

Today I withdrew an amout of USDT (TRC20) from Binance to a wrong TrustWallet address. The address I used was TUSD (ERC20).
6595  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Generating and Storing ALL keys on: May 10, 2021, 10:35:41 PM
There was an image I saw sometimes ago on this forum that can give you the perfect answer to your question.

Sorry for my lack of understanding on the matter, I know there is 115792089237316195423570985008687907852837564279074904382605163141518161494336 Keys but could this be done?
This large number is equals to 2^256

The size of bitcoin’s private key space, (2^256) is an unfathomably large number. It is approximately 10^77 in decimal. For comparison, the visible universe is estimated to contain 10^80 atoms.
6596  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: help; wrong address on: May 10, 2021, 09:53:06 PM
It's why i don't like Binance when it comes to making withdrawals. They can easily confuse a newbie with USDT(TRC20) USDT(ERC20) BEP2 and BSC allover the place
This is not Binance fault, even if you want to withdraw either ERC20 or TRC20 token on Binance, it will not be specified, ones you use the right address, be it ERC20 or TRC20, it will work and the token will be sent to the right address.

Again I am just wondering how the hell they let a withdrawal go through yet ERC20 and TRC20 are 2 incompatible address formats
It is not possible. This image is from Binance after attempting to withdraw Ethereum using Tron address, also it will show the message for the respective tokens.

kaylin1987 is not getting something right. So far he sent the coin to Binance, he would have seen the it reflecting on the balance, or the coin wasn't sent from Binance at all. That was why I requested if he/she can post the txid.
6597  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Differences between paper wallet and USB flash wallet on: May 10, 2021, 07:32:19 PM
<...>
The normal paper wallet like the one generated from https://bitaddress.org do not make use of seed extension (passphrase) which support BIP39, it make use of passphrase which is also usually called password which is used to encrypt the private key, this password is called BIP38 passphrase.

You are definitely commenting about hierarchical deterministic (HD) wallet which generate passphrase which can be used through salting as extended word(s). This can also be used as a paper wallet though, but to make paper wallet not confusing, my first comment above must be included before commentimg about HD wallet used in a paper wallet form.
6598  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: help; wrong address on: May 10, 2021, 07:06:20 PM
What I think is to export the private key from trustwallet you can try to check this guide on how to export private key
Trust wallet supports TRC20 tokens, but he sent it to ERC20 which trust wallet also support. The coin suppose to reflect on ERC20 USDT balance on Trustwallet.

The address I used was TUSD (ERC20).
6599  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: help; wrong address on: May 10, 2021, 06:44:22 PM
Move this thread to altcoin discussion.

So far you withdraw into your noncustodial wallet (trust wallet), likely you did not lose the coin sent. Your question is not that clear, go to your account on binance, look for the txid of your transaction, if you can share it here, we can be able to know maybe you used TRC20 or ERC20 to send the coin. Or, you can track that yourself by checking the trust wallet address you sent the coin to from Binance.

Try to check your trust wallet, trust wallet support these two tokens, check if your balance is reflecting the coin sent already. So far the wrong address is still actually from your trust wallet, the coin should reflect, you suppose see it reflect on USDT (ERC20).
