im ready to see an S4 already.
Or S2 upgrade cards!

Overclocking:

I am getting 465GH at 237.5mhz with 0.6% hardware error (not exactly 478Gh) and 441GH at default 218.75mhz
Did anybody had a situation when at 225mhz S3 performed better than at 237.5, providing that miner is overclockable in principle?

well mine were so bad at 225 or 237.  I quickly gave up.  the 212.5 is now giving me  429 each with almost no errors .001%  what is interesting is that same 429 on my gui and my m's ant monitor is about 433-435 at btcguild.

Since btcguild pays me that seems like a good thing

I've noticed consistently higher hash-rates at the pool as well.  I won't complain, but it makes me wonder.

In case of modular PSU do i need to connect the papercllip togheter in any case? How can i do in a batter way?
You'll still need to connect the paperclip, yes.  I believe Minersource has a "Jumpstart" kit that has a toggle switch, but you would have to decide if that's a better way.
664  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] BETARIGS.COM - Cryptocurrency cloud mining - thousands of rigs available! on: July 20, 2014, 04:38:45 AM
Does anyone know how to get in touch with customer support, as I would like to try and host some of my 1TH rigs there?
I opened a ticket last weekend about bumping up the cap and they answered within 24 hours, so YMMV.  It's the only reason I've had to open a ticket, but it seemed quick enough.

Does anyone know what I should put in the "use custom DNS server" box?

Should I leave it blank?

A friend of mine, ChuckBuck would tell you to put 8.8.8.8 but I don't think it really matters, you can use the usual, 192,168.1.1 if you want.

I like the 8's because it's an alternative backup plan that works.

--

That said, I got confirmation from UPS today so I should get it by next weekend, which is what I was expecting from day 1 anyways.

Anyone from Canada got their S3 orders already who know what the import cost per unit is?

I know we're not on  laws like UK but is it still considered as a "Computer Game Gateway" like the S1 was?

I don't know anything about VAT laws and such but here in Canada, we only have a 10% sales tax at the border.

Thanks.

I am also curious on the import fees for Canada & the USA,

8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 are googles DNS. Nearly always up and reliable.

$comment++;  I've always used 8.8.8.8 on my mining gear with zero problems.  Easy to remember and always up.

Bitmain just update their site to include a "News" section, although it's so far an empty page.  They may be preparing to shoot us an update.

Batch 1 Only
2 Shipped
0 Waiting.

Also this is set up like the S1 I assume?
Correct.  They've added a few options, but setup is the same.  If you've turned up an S1 you'll feel right at home.

Did anyone who receive their units get a email confirmation from BITMAIN with the tracking number?
I did, yes.  That said, I got four in a row for the same order, so the email system they are using may be flakey.
670  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 18, 2014, 12:08:26 AM
I was order #8 in batch 1. Received all 4 S3's today.
Did some power measurements for those who might be curious. Kill-a-watt is showing power draw at the wall for two S3's as they come out of the box.

What speed are they hashing at ?

My Batch One order just landed in Anchorage. Should be delivered tomorrow Smiley Whee !
Mine is currently sitting at 441.84.  I need to break out the second unit this evening and compare.  The crazy power up top is annoying, but it's a little thing.

I tip my fedex my post office my ups guy.  cost me 20 for the each on july 4th and chirstmas.  total of 120 a year.

I also bring a big platter of quality cookies to the local post office during the christmas season.  With my packages in and out it is worth the money.

And contrary to popular belief  giving a  us postal worker a gift is legal.  (it must be under 25 usd and must be not  done over and over.)

2x a year for holidays is okay.

You're alright, Phil.

14:02 order showing unshipped
This may not be a precise science, I'm afraid.  I imagine we'll see a flood of shipments tomorrow as well.
673  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 15, 2014, 04:58:16 PM
Mine has appeared to ship as well (utilizing the UPS.com method above), Thursday delivery in the US from B1 order!  The order date and time from BM's site reads "2014-06-30 14:08:42"
674  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S2 Setup [HD] on: July 14, 2014, 06:09:53 PM
Thanks to the advice I have received from those who have contributed to this thread, I have narrowed the problem of non-hashing down to an incompatibility in the addresses of the MacBook Pro, the Internet connection, and the S2 Antminer. I list below the relevant information for consideration:

S2 Antminer
Type: Static
Address: 192.168.1.99
Netmask: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.1.1
DNS: 192.168..1.1

The MacBook Pro (connected to the Internet by Wi-Fi):
Configure IPv4: Using DHCP
IPv4 Address: 192.168.168.140
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Router: 192.168.168.168
DNS: 75.75.75.75, 76.76.76.76

I can easily change the Gateway and DNS on the S2 Antminer. I would greatly appreciate specific suggestions for how to change the settings to enable the S2 Antminer to access the Internet via the MacBook Pro.

Much appreciated.

Justin

Oh man, this is perhaps more complicated that I first surmised.  Are you wanting to use your Ethernet port on your MacBook Pro to feed the S2?  Does your wireless router not have an Ethernet port?  If you can, describe your network for us.

While it's possible to do what you want, it's going to result in a fragile design at best.
675  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S2 Setup [HD] on: July 14, 2014, 01:29:24 AM
it would work, but it could assign different numbers to it on a whim, at least this is what it does for my iphone/ipad/etc, so you will have to do a scan to determine your IP before connecting every time. Am i wrong?

You are not wrong, although the DHCP reservation would likely never expire on a system that sees minimal downtime.  The IP address handed out by the router would only return to the DHCP pool after a xx period of inactivity from the device.  That said, it's best to use a static so there's less guesswork.
676  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 13, 2014, 03:50:48 PM
the psu in between the 2   s-3's mounted fan down with the psu exhaust  out the window.  the top sheet of plywood needs to have 8 holes each one lines up to the pcie jacks on the s-3's

most noise and heat will go out the window.

I will make a lot of photos of this once I build it.  I think 20 bucks tops to make it.
Sounds neat, I look forward to the pictures!
677  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S2 Setup [HD] on: July 11, 2014, 01:37:52 PM
Exactly the same TracerX!   UPS just picked it up.  Sounds like I was run through the same testing process (naturally).  You have to give it to Bitmain!  They had absolutely no issue conceding the card was indeed dead, and in the same email provided the shipping label and instructions for the RMA.  Legends!

Glad to hear that they got you sorted out--let us know how soon you get it back.  I'm curious if the turn around time will be effected by the crush of new S3s they are trying to get out the door.
678  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S3 Discussion and Support Thread. on: July 11, 2014, 03:14:09 AM
And surprise surprise, they are not shipped yet!
They stated earlier it would be the 14th.  Let's not freak out yet, this is BITMAIN we're talking about.

I see different timeout recommendations in almost every thread..the only one that is constant is 40....but that seems to be the worst chip timeout of all..at least for the clock speeds and output I am looking for...
It would be nice to be able to upload screenshots...I have loads
Sorry if this post is a bit off topic..all I have been doing lately is sorting out S2s....the joys lol

I've been curious about that as well, and have tagged the timeout variable for additional research.  What timeout have you been using on your machines?

I am experimenting between 37-39 right now and 39 and 38 seem to give the best output so far...hard to tell in less than 48 hours...it seems some boards can handle 38 timeout better than others...not sure if we can use decimals like S3 but I don't see why not..also with some timeout hashrate starts high but drops after a day or vice versa..not sure if that is just a flaw in the firmware overall...
All units have .5 or .6% reject

At the standard frequency, my S2 slowly clocks down to ~950 in 24 hours.  After underclocking it to frequency 193 it immediately levels out at ~ 975 in a few hours, and is more resilient to rebooting or restarting cgminer.  I've not changed the timing, but would be happy to test them out with you if I could assist.  That said, these machines are very unlike the S1's (finicky to say the least) and what works well with one may not work well on another.
