Hi AmericanComputerNerd. I have a question, is this a revival of the old coin "spots" or is this a new coin with the same name? I'll hang up and listen.
This is the old coin, just forked. After being abandoned by the previous dev and nearly dying out, this is a community led revival. The blockchain was forked to Scrypt-N for ASIC resistance and the Diff Adjustments were changed to KGW to fix an unstable blockchain with wild diff swings. Our fork happened over the weekend and has been successful, with the exception of the large exchanges upgrading their clients. I'll see what i can do about getting cryptsy to upgrade their client, Ultimately the decision will be theirs, but i can bring it to their attention since i've known a few of the staff members for some time. Thanks for the message. The support tickets about this were in the wrong category. Sorry about that Since this wasnt forked from an existing repo I will have to do a code review Should be back online on the new fork today or tonight Thank you for checking it out. I am assuming that "AmericanComputerNerd" is a shill/puppet account for "iGotSpots" and he is pretending to be a different person.
It might be, but it doesn't seem like this is Spots. Just my opinion. regardless, i think the exchanges need to be on the new fork if everything AmericanComputerNerd has said is true and checks out.

Regarding the updates at Coins-E.com and Cryptsy.com... In both cases the administrators of those sites were made aware of the planned fork almost 2 weeks ago. To date it appears neither site has taken action to upgrade their software to v2 as of this writing.
If you use either site I recommend that the community members submit support tickets to have the client upgraded, so these administrators understand the fork is community supported and they are impacting several people. I am continuing to update support tickets to try to bring this to resolution.
Additionally, as a back-up plan, I believe with a few nights of programming I can launch a SPT / BTC exchange on our website. In an environment that is supposed to be decentralized, I am realizing that we have given an inappropriate amount of power to a few exchanges. These sites are holding up our progress as a community, without any good reason... It isn't, and shouldn't be, acceptable...
Cryptsy's support is way too crap. I suggest rather than making your exchange, apply for smaller and well managed exchanges like bittrex and poloneix. poloniex? now thats just hilarious.

I'm still supporting OSC guys, but Bryce can take this coin to new heights and give it a future and a purpose that i never managed to do. I'll still be around to help if needed and will still be a big advocate of the coin.

i don't think that coinex scammed you guys(but they very well could have done so, only they know for certain what happened). ive been in their position unfortunately, and if they indeed were hacked and lost your funds, they are likely shitting theirselves somewhere watching their dreams circle drain. just my 2 cents. good luck to all involved, and if coinex scammed their customers, shame on you captainfuture and erundook. you are better than that.

i have transferred ownership of this coin to a new dev. should he wish to come forward, so be it.

coin is being transferred to new leadership, and it will be for the best. i simply don't have the time to dedicate to the project. hopefully the new dev's can pick up where i left off with lobbying the Open Source Foundation for recognition.
details coming soon on new dev once i've completed my search.

I received 3 payment requests similar to you guys from mailinator. I talked to support and they said somehow they got our email and just can use that to send requests. Just decline the requests and no harm done. When I first logged in i was a little nervous but no big deal they spammed out coinbase like they would your email
some big name will have been a target of this, and will sue the pants off of coinbase, and they will likely win a dispute. it doesn't matter what your terms of service say in the financial payments industry, the onus is on you(the company) to safeguard customer data, including a person's legal name. you can't just have a form where anyone can enter an email and reveal the account holders legal name. that's lunacy. what on earth were they thinking? this isn't facebook, this is finance.

So, better some blackhats fuck you up and force you to fix your weak spots than some gov does it when it really thinks it has to.
Sorry but I don't believe in this logic. You can't go before a court of law and declare, "Your honor, I am entitled to this stolen property because John Doe left their front door unlocked", it doesn't excuse the criminal behavior in itself. It doesnt excuse criminal behaviour. But the latest events have shown, that your gov. will not obey their own laws and use criminal behaviour to get what they want. I heard back in about 2007 a Black Hat hackers conference in L.A. USA a seminar about how to hack routers using WEP for internet access.. Put on by the FBI lol They posted a video presentation and showe how it was done and then provided links to the tools for reference. Anyway is that a crime ? Show me the section of criminal code corresponding to the country holding the forked block chain that shows forking is illegal. Put up or shut up ? lol ..i'm going to sit here and wait holding my breath, i know any second you will have proof they built their entire house of cards on this one single argument. of course you'll get no response, but you're correct.
