@ -droid-

Try removing all the hash blades from the S2miner, and only boot the miner with the main board and the original psu. Can you reset the miner using the button on the front and login to the default web interface (192.168.1.99) ?

p.s. the white glue / epoxy is normal in psu's and should not affect the workings of the psu.

~ Luc

im scared to power on the orig PSU after the pop and spark, ill test it when i get home later

also, the 10th hash board when plugged in the S2 doesnt even turn on.. does that mean the hash board is fried?  the remaining 9 seem to work fine
662  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Guide] Dogie's Comprehensive Bitmain AntMiner S2 Setup [HD] on: July 01, 2014, 04:49:56 PM
my latest S2 died lastnight, was only running for 12 hours since it was delivered at my house yesterday.

i was checking my pool stats in the middle of the night while feeding the baby and noticed the new s2 not hashing so i went out to the garage and the power supply fan is spinning, but the s2 is dead, no lights at all

so i turn it off and on to no avail, then unplug it and move it to a different outlet and plug it back in and there was a loud POP and a spark flew out of the power supply.  upon closer inspection one of the capacitors blew and is leaking white stuff

had a spare 1000w rosewill psu i swapped it with and started up the S2 and wouldn't turn on agn, so i started removing hash boards and moving them around and came to the conclusion one of the hash boards is totally dead.  when this particular board is plugged in the unit wont turn on, doesnt matter if theres 6, 7, 10 boards plugged in.  without the dead board the S2 starts like a champ

the unit is now running fine with 9 boards and my spare PSU

contacted bitmain for RMA help and so far theyve asked me some troubleshooting questions, but at this point its pretty obvious what the issue is lol.

Just paid for 10 units. It looks like even at a steady 15% difficulty increase, these will never ROI for me at $0.13/Kwh.

90 days for me at 0.06/Kwh (Oregon)

I might have to go with localbitcoin and their overpriced BTC

Are you willing to provide a valid collateral?  What you are currently providing is not enough.
I'll do this loan if you can provide a stable altcoin collateral.

I don't have any altcoins, other than the junk in my cryptsy acct, back in my scrypt days I only used waffle so I never really accumulated alts, not sure how that would work out

Edit: I can cover the fiat now but not sure of another place I could instantly buy using my debit card

I'm buying some S3s and coinbase only let's me pull 1000 fiat instantly from my bank. And with the btc I have in my wallet now I need extra so I can get either 3 or 4 units

just bought 2 units with the btc I have, need 0.88 so I can get 2 more

Terms: 0.88 loan with 0.92 paid back next week

Will pay back next week or sooner as my coinbase instant buy quota starts filling back up daily

I've got great rep on these boards and 120+ 100% ebay feedback, can provide my Facebook etc ext

Going with LocalBitcoins

I think they are waiting to sell all the S2 before launching the S3.

I think thatīs the reason.

This is good, because it means that the S3 will be a much better offer (I hope).

Maybe they made a mistake announcing the S3 before depleting their S2 stock.

Everyone knowing the S3 release, whos gonna buy the S2 now?

we dont know when they are going to ship the S3, only that within a few days they are going to open up sales.

I got an S2 a few days ago when btc was 600+ knowing btc would fall by the time they ship it, hence making my purchase even better
673  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: How many S3 are you planning to buy? on: June 23, 2014, 11:39:19 PM
Sounds like Bitmain is dropping the s2 form factor AKA "The Last Batch" on their forum thread, so I will look elsewhere for a unit that can sit in a rack . The S2 was a GREAT product, I wish they would have stuck with the development of it ..
I am thinking the price of the S3 will be priced below the price per GH of the S2 and that is why they held up 1 week on releasing the S3 till they could get rid of all the S2 inventory.

you think itll be lower lower than the $1.45/GH after coupon price or $1.85/GH before coupon price?

Buy a s2 for 1400 or wait for s3's?
