661  Local / Biete / Re: Community Mining 840 Ghash/s bereits Butterflylabs Asics -> Jetzt Anteil kaufen! on: July 10, 2013, 07:38:34 AM

1. Once the connection is established I subscribe to the USD trades channel:
Code:
TRADES = "dbf1dee9-4f2e-4a08-8cb7-748919a71b21"
def subscribe( channel ):
output = { 'op': 'mtgox.subscribe', 'channel': channel }
return json.dumps( output )

ws.send(subscribe(TRADES))
...but I get the remark spat back "Unknown channel requested or not a public channel".

Try "mtgox.subscribe" instead of "subscribe" and/or also try "type" instead of "channel" and/or also try using the channel name instead of the GUID.

The documentation seems incomplete or outdated, you need to experiment a bit.

For example this works for me: {"op":"mtgox.subscribe", "type":"trades"}
And also: {"op":"mtgox.subscribe", "channel":"ticker.BTCUSD"}

And for subscribing to the private channel (after receiving my idkey) I'm using the following:
{"op":"mtgox.subscribe", "key":idkey}

2. My websocket connection keeps dropping, for no reason that I can see. This thread's history has some talk about having to send heartbeat messages,

websocket should never disconnect at all, I have it running here 24/7 and it disconnects only maybe once or twice a day, some days it doesn't disconnect at all (and probably my few disconnects here are only due to my very poor wifi connection).

Flashing walls is sonar messaging to other whales:
* prof7bit going to implement a chat protocol to communicate via mtgox limit orders and publish it as a goxtool strategy module.

You should let the user select the number of rounds as if you use a standard number of rounds the attack table can just use the same number of rounds once it is known.

And maybe also use a hash algorithm for which no optimized ASIC hardware exists to make producing these tables even harder.

So, I can use google 2-factor without a phone ?

The wikipedia page about it http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Google_Authenticator lists a whole bunch of alternative implementations, including ones for Windows (or Linux or Mac) desktops as well as the **trivial** 10 lines of code that describe the algorithm, so you could probably even implement it yourself in a few lines of any scripting language. A phone is really not needed to run this extremely simple code.

in other words: I played around until it looked good.

Thats the same thing you did yourself a while back with your chart where the y axis was calculated as

y = log(price + C)  ; C arbitrarily chosen to make it look "good" (or bad)

Ganz eindeutig das Wallet.

Alles andere widersetzt sich meinem Sprachgefühl ganz gewaltig und das irrt sich nur selten. Und laut Google scheine ich da ja auch (zum Glück) mit der Mehrheit konform zu gehen.

If it is taking small amounts it is missing out on the larger amounts that will be deposited when the user thinks it is secure
This won't happen because if you don't take it immediately then someone else's bot will certainly do it. You have to be faster than all other bots or you won't get anything.

I guess for me the risk of being arrested for wire fraud

670  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: If you used Brainwallet.org - MUST READ! - Security Breach! on: July 07, 2013, 02:46:17 PM
and I meant maybe your brainwallet password was short not your wallet.dat password. It is probably a bot that instant created all private keys of a word list and then when a balance hit's it transfers it out.
What kind of idiot would write a bot like that?
You wait until it has at least half a coin in it before transfering it out.
Wait until a competing bot decides to take the money? It would be an idiotic bot if it did not secure any available balance immediately.

please add an option to switch to log scale,
it would be useful for analyzing longer time frames.

a private police force can enter your home without a warrant and collect [...]
No, a private goon squad can not enter my home and take stuff with them because this would constitute an armed robbery and then the next buildings they would "enter" would be a court room and a prison.

My only thought is the brainwallet website has been compromised instead and some bot is stealing the private keys

No. You just used a weak passphrase. They have *huge* lists of keys already calculated in advance from all kinds of weak passphrases, they knew your passphrase (and with it the key) already long before you even had the idea to use a brain wallet. They are sitting somewhere with a huge list of such weak keys, permanently scanning the network for new transactions and waiting for your coins to arrive at one of their addresses.

Next time you should use a long computer generated random passphrase. Use a tool like pwgen that creates pronounceable random nonsense (not in any dictionary) words, so its easy to remember but still completely random.
674  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is Now The Time To Buy? on: July 06, 2013, 12:27:50 PM
I personally think now is the time to buy if you aren't getting into mining.
No. If you don't need new coins immediately then just place a buy order at $32 and another one at $26 and wait.
675  Local / Biete / Re: Gruppenkauf incl. Hosting - KNCminer Saturn - "Batch2" - ab 70€ je Anteil on: July 04, 2013, 04:58:40 PM
Ich würde gerne 5 Anteile Saturn 1.1 nehmen (also 5*70€=350€, 5*4=20 GH/s),

676  Local / Biete / Re: Community Mining 840 Ghash/s bereits Butterflylabs Asics -> Jetzt Anteil kaufen! on: July 04, 2013, 12:58:39 PM
Biete 5 Anteile von Platz 6 zum Verkauf
für 1.3 BTC pro Anteil.
für 1.35 BTC pro Anteil.  [Edit 5. Juli, 16:46 MESZ: Preis aufgrund Kursschwankung angepasst.]
Bei Interesse bitte PM an mich.

Edit: habe mich selbst unterboten, bitte zur nächsten Seite weiterblättern
677  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker - Hardcore on: July 02, 2013, 08:24:49 PM
So if I want to place a buy order an check within a month or two, what's a good value?
60?
$32 (and two months waiting might not be enough)
678  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Does the NSA know who Satoshi is? on: July 01, 2013, 10:13:13 AM
Because the NSA does not have the authority
The NSA does not need to be authorized do do anything, they can just do what they please. They are effectively above the law, nobody asks them questions and if someone asks they would not need to answer.

Quote
authority to create a currency
One does not need any authorization to create a currency, every kid can do this at home (just see the altcoin forums) and unless you live in North Korea it is perfectly legal to do so, without authorization, without license, without anything.
679  Local / Biete / Re: Community Mining 840 Ghash/s bereits Butterflylabs Asics -> Jetzt Anteil kaufen! on: June 30, 2013, 10:23:19 AM

If you are not out, get out.
If its going down then the winning strategy is to buy more. Thats the difference between the winners and the losers. The losers buy high and sell low, the winners do it exactly the other way around.
