Drunk thought: The stupid rise of alts is a trap to trick people into divesting btc into ANYTHING ELSE. And then pumping btc.

no: and then PULL IT, that is try to crash them all at once. Imagine the bad publicity for crypto by what might happen with ETH.

ETH?  What?  Embarrassed

Ephesians 6:12 my friend.

not to mention that shitcoins are doomed to return to their intrinsic value.

For tax reasons i can only do one sell per year. So one sell and one rebuy.
But i am paralyzed looking at the bars and don't do anything.]

That's the right way to do it, beyond tax reasons. The pic below let you imagine year-traders.
They're just one step below the HODLer's nirvana.

What if your BTC stash is worth a few millions some day... Do you think your story, without any sound proof of it, will stand?

What if I don't remember the story of each satoshi in my wallet? Maybe I will have to recurse to this new kind of socks for bitcoin users:

I definitely think Litecoin is still going nowhere, just because it has Segwit now and potentially LN coming doesn't change a thing. No one liked it and no one cared...for years now. And in the last 4 years, Chinese exchanges have quietly mined millions of litecoins (because it was easy and cheap to do), and will happily let this rise for a while only to dumpity-dump dump their millions of litecoins slowly back into the market once a downtrend is confirmed. I've seen it before, and won't be a part of watching that again. The top 3-4 Chinese exchanges own collectively ~8M litecoin.

I disagree, I see litecoin as what btc should have been: no b/s, no political bickering, spam problem solved logically and simply years ago, possibly more decentralized in mining and ownership than btc, always been in the top 10 by traded volume. What is not to like? I'm just sorry that I did not accumulate more when it was cheaper, because my target price is 1/4 of BTC price (because of its final total of 84 million LTC).

So right now i guess it could go on
(Theory that bubbles become bigger and longer than before, i can imagine a 6 month bubble)

Indeed. Even at the bottom of the last two major dumps we remained into an ascending channel.

I used for years Therocktrading and they've always been very reliable and fast with fiat withdrawals.
But unfortunately they do not accept clients from the USA.

But one thing I don't understand: how can the Powers That Be (central banks, GSachs etc) keep the price low if they have to continually buy? Dump, dump dump... what do they do when the ammo's over? Buy again at a presumably higher price? Every single btc that gets bought by someone else at those lower prices will eventually push the actual rebuying price higher. Or is something escaping me?

Oh oh. Now you dunnit. You just asked the question that always shuts 'em up.

I guess that having money printers they could buy-> short with leverage -> buy back (possibly lower, but not necessarily: they could play at a loss forever).
and generating panic is another leverage when shorting.

Lately the 100 day EMA is offering a good support. Good to know for your next bids.

Someone seems to dislike the thought of $2900 in Western exchanges. China is constitently pushing towards $3k.

The question is how BTC will behave in the epic bust that many are expecting imminently, because even gold crashed in 2008.
Staying somewhat liquid could be advisable.

Dato che non sto ottenendo risposte aprendo ticket sul support lo chiedo qui:
Come si fa a prelevare i miei USD da TheRock per riceverli sul mio account in Cryptocapital.co???
672  Economy / Economics / Re: How bitcoin can be useful in developing nations like the African continent. on: June 06, 2017, 09:11:32 AM
Hence, I am seriously considering starting a bitcoin service in the country to try and alleviate some of these issues. I am therefore open to any engagement of productive discussions about Bitcoin and its benefits in developing nations. How can we implement Bitcoin systems here? Where do we begin? Who can we partner with?

Hi. I've been in Ethiopia and I know it a bit.

Bitcoin would have a great market in Ethiopia because it would solve several government-generated money issues (like the great difficulty in sending money out or effecting payments abroad, which is causing serial business failures), and even to serve the remits market which moves much more money than its foreign trade, and this is a reason why any bitcoin initiative there would be repressed by the state with maximum penalties and why bitcoin is still non existent there and it will be so until the current model of authoritarian government will persist, just because bitcoin frees individuals from the money powers, which in Ethiopia is the state.

I guess that even to occasionally trade btc p2p there would be a serious risk without a deep previous legal research and/or special permissions. You might start enquiring on this with the proper government agency, and maybe look for a business license (which I expect that they will never release for btc trading).

Not to mention the pitiful state of the internet access there thanks to the state monopoly of telecom + censorship + total internet blackout (like the one currently ongoing), etc.

But if/when you will have a less authoritarian government I expect that cryptocoins will bloom there.

Bitcoin could hit $100,000 in 10 years, says the analyst who correctly called its $2,000 price
Bitcoin could make up 10 percent of the $5 trillion average daily volume in the foreign exchange market in 10 years, according to Saxo Bank analyst Kay Van-Petersen.
Its market capitalization could grow to $1.75 trillion which would make each bitcoin worth $100,000.

Any way to arb this?

Bitcoin price implied by $GBTC price is $4,588.

Imho there are only 2 options about how the global debt bubble ends: either with hyperinflation or with a massive wave of bankruptcies/depression (see: https://charleshughsmith.blogspot.nl/2017/05/how-debt-asset-bubbles-implode.html). In the first scenario bitcoin and other cryptocoins should be winners, in the second maybe not. I think historically there are few or no exceptions to the first option in the long term (which is here now), and considering that there are not many safe places to put your money in and get a return (or get them returned to you), I expect bitcoin to keep winning big time.
676  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 27, 2017, 07:28:03 PM
But don't try to second guess this market.

imho beyond brains it takes a fair amount of balls to be a contrarian and sell high (during an huge pump) and buy low (after an awful crash, or maybe during a long depression).
but it can be done, especially if you start playing with small chips.
677  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 27, 2017, 12:59:43 PM
Correction is done, it should go up again.

We're sitting right on the 100 EMA on the 4H chart. Should be a decent support.
But I would wait and see another day or 2.
678  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 27, 2017, 12:05:07 PM
No, I'm the only honest person on the entire forum that doesn't make up lies claiming bitcoin is a more sound form of money than gold and silver.

Thx, but one the most losing investment that I ever made was converting some BTC in gold and silver when btc was in the 400s

But maybe when btc goes parabolic converting some would be a good idea.
679  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: May 27, 2017, 09:45:37 AM
So kind of you, now more people can dump on you. Bubble popping. Time for a 1 year bearmarket from now on. Hardfork incoming because UASF will fail cuz it has not enough support. Look at ethereum, it had a 1 year bearmarket after it forked. Bitcoin will be no exception. Sell while you still can. Otherwise you can only blame yourself.

A first mistake was to not sell some in the 2700s, a second mistake would be to dump now or lower (in a medium to long term view). A third mistake would be to not buy if it crashes way lower, IMHO.
