661  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lotteries and possibility vs. probability on: October 01, 2023, 02:35:28 PM
It can happen to several people who gather together and ultimately decide to make a group purchase and hold onto it until the outcome is decided. They may want to increase their chances of winning, but without luck, they will not be able to win. But even though they haven't been able to win, they can try another time and still buy with their group because they realize the chances are still greater than if they bought the tickets individually. If they still feel comfortable buying lottery tickets as a group, they will continue to do so. And if at some point, they feel it's better to buy their tickets individually, they'll choose that.

Buying a lottery is fun, especially since the price is not too expensive. But we have to know how long we need to buy the lottery because winning the lottery ticket will take a long time, and without any luck, we will not be able to win.
Some people may think that by buying the lottery in groups the chances of winning are greater, but will the distribution of winnings be fair? (many bad things have happened because of things like this) i never bet on lotteries in groups, the risk is too big.  anyway, It's not easy to become a lottery winner, especially if the government holding the lottery is your country, then of course all the citizens there are placing a lottery and you have to beat them all, so in my circle the lottery is often called 'the possibility of winning is impossible'
662  Other / Off-topic / Re: Is this the path you should take to become successful? on: September 30, 2023, 11:46:04 AM
"In order to be successful, you have to find out what makes you excited. What makes you wanna get up each morning and go to work? If you love what you do and dedicate yourself to your work, you will gain that momentum and each success will create another success. Never quit, never give up. Do something you love. When you do something that you love, you'll never fail. What you are going to do is give it a shot again and again and again. You're ultimately going to be successful." - Donald John Trump

Some say he's an Idiot but something he says sometimes makes sense. LOL. What do you think about it? Is it some way to manipulate people or that's the right thing to do?

what he said is actually a real thing that successful people do in general, but remember that not everyone is destined to be successful, there are some who have even been doing a job that they like for a long time but they don't have enough  money to be said to be rich.  for someone to become rich, it's not just passion that influences it, often relationships, intelligence, persistence and luck influence it too, now don't make your life like a gamble, wealth might come from things you don't like.
663  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Youth Gambling on: September 30, 2023, 03:23:23 AM
Among young people is a result of the availability of gambling alternatives, such as sports betting and online gambling. Gambling disorders can have long-term effects on a person's ability to complete their education and choose their future, and young individuals may be particularly susceptible to acquiring these illnesses
Some have said that gambling addiction is a mental disorder and i agree with that opinion, in some cultures gambling is part of their culture but as time goes by the younger generation is increasingly being given easy internet access, they can even open a gambling account without having to go online require to carry out KYC.  Even though there are pros and cons of KYC, to prevent underage gamblers it must be implemented, apart from that the government can also monitor underage gamblers, they have more authority to deal with it than us (ordinary people)
664  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: It is only Bitcoin and nothing else on: September 30, 2023, 03:06:38 AM
I was going through coinmarketcap today to see some of the cryptocurrencies I was involved in when I started, I was so surprised to see that a lot of them have even been delisted. I was heartbroken seeing that some tokens who raised millions of dollars, had huge community and were trending even in various platforms just died. I wanted to not mention any particular token but I have to mention PumaPay that raised about $8 million yet could not deliver anything and got investors holding a bag of shit.

If one can turn back the hand of time, and assuming I joined this forum early when I started my crypto journey, maybe the concept of shitcoins would have dawn on me and that would have made me convert those worthless bags to Bitcoin when I could.

I know there are other who would have similar experience too and there are still others caught up in the euphoria of getting rich through one token or the other. Well, if it is not Bitcoin, it is not worth holding.
Identifying a promising altcoin is not an easy matter, the majority of altcoin developers are only looking for profit, they do not have long-term development plans such as use cases and also listing on trusted exchanges, there are even some cases where the developers withdraw their token liquidity and change it to other crypto assets  then fled and left investors with false hope.  Bitcoin is a decentralized asset, there is no manipulation involved, only trusted Bitcoin.
665  Economy / Economics / Re: marry rich: marry fiat rich or crypto rich, which is better? on: September 29, 2023, 04:56:43 PM
In life you have to be rich of something, or nobody want to marry to you, and have build a family with you, you would be foreveralone, and the media would constantly mogging you over and over again for being foreveralone to remain you. And your mum would constantly tell you if you don't get married nobody would take care of you when your aged. Nobody would make a tomb for you, and when you died you would go to afterlife with empty stomach and would suffer straving too in the afterlife. That must be a lot of hurt! ouch!

So back to question. which is preferred? Married to fiat rich or crypto rich? Although crypto can be created at the comfort of your basement, also the value would plummet quickly to near zero too. Do you think in your life, you would ever see someone marry to crypto rich? btw recent news about ftx being rejected to sponsor a superstar due to it is unregistered tell me marry crypto rich might be a distance dream. Also there would be only 21m bitcoin existed, only 21m couples would be able to married rich. When there is billions of population, a lot of couples may not marry rich, due to unequal distribution, some of the crypto super rich would married hundreds of thousand more.
OP's question is quite sensitive in my environment, people here don't marry for money, they hate it, that means they have ulterior motives for marrying someone, marrying a rich person who has a lot of fiat is quite good especially if you come from a country that has strong fiat like  USD, EUR or Pound but in the long term marrying someone who has a lot of crypto is much more profitable, especially if that person has bitcoin as an investment asset that he holds completely, in the next few decades its value will definitely increase significantly, while fiat has to face inflation and the like.
666  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why is cryptocurrency illegal in some countries? on: September 29, 2023, 04:06:50 PM
bitcoin and cryptocurrencies are still considered by the majority of governments in many countries as tools that are often used by criminals to transact and launder their money, which imo is a stupid thing that is difficult for governments to eliminate even though fiat money has always been a tool criminal transactions during this time.  Bitcoin was created to improve the world's financial system and to protect the value of investment assets owned by investors, throughout the world support for Bitcoin will continue to make Bitcoin exist, there will be no reason for Bitcoin to return to zero or die, its value will always be there, even though all world governments hate bitcoin.
667  Economy / Economics / Re: Is academic pursues enough to get incomes? on: September 29, 2023, 03:46:14 PM
In the past few decades, education was considered very important, academics would definitely get a more decent life than those who were not academics, but as time went by many graduates were created and in the end only those who had the privilege could enjoy a good life.  , it will be difficult for you to get a decent job if you don't have any privileges, in the next few decades we will definitely see more and more graduates becoming unemployed, the competition is getting tougher.
668  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casino is a Games of Chance and Entertainment on: September 29, 2023, 08:07:05 AM
The outcome of the majority of casino games is mostly controlled by luck rather than ability. Examples that are often used include craps, roulette, and slot machines. Players wager on numerous outcomes in these games, and the casino has an inherent advantage that ensures they will profit in the long term.
Casino gaming is a popular source of entertainment. Instead of looking at it as a means of making money, players should approach it with the intention of having fun.
i highly recommend that gamblers play games that they master or enjoy, this is all to prevent you from playing by relying solely on luck.

you can use the reading above to increase your insight into gambling. i myself quite like baccarat (even though i'm not good at it), every time i play baccarat, i consider it as my entertainment, even if i use money in the game, other than that, never think gambling is the best and fastest way to make money, you are wrong about that.

670  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Secure Your Legacy, Educate Your Loved Ones on: September 28, 2023, 11:57:13 PM
This is the saddest story I have read today. The lesson from it is to make the most of your time while you are here, both for yourself, family and friends. Do not relent on asking all the questions you need to ask about bitcoin so that you will be able to secure the financial well being of your  future generation in your absence. Do not just learn about bitcoin and keep the knowledge to yourself. Educate your kids, educate your spouse. Though they may not understand it at first but with time, they would. It will be painful if a bitcoin holder die after accumulating 1, 2, 10, 15 or any amount of bitcoins dies and his family can't have access to his bitcoin because he didn't teach or educate them about it. They would have missed out on the potential for financial security and prosperity that Bitcoin offers.

This is a sad story, when we live in a short time but don't teach the slightest thing we know about Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies to our children.
my child is still small, not yet 5 years old, but he often sees me opening the computer and when i trade for a while he always asks him 'what is that dad', i have great intentions to teach him bitcoin and everything i know later when he 10 years old or more, that is if he is interested and has a great curiosity about bitcoin (i won't force that)
671  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gender in Gambling [differences between Women and Men in Gambling] on: September 28, 2023, 11:29:39 PM
Women are more disciplined to play than men who play gambling, just from my observation of what I watch in movies and even in the reality that is happening in our lives today. But now, from what I see, it seems like more and more women are promoting casino apps on social media platforms.
the film is just a fake, they often claim this is just a fictional story lol.  but yeah, women are more disciplined at the gambling table than men, they prioritize feelings over logic, most women will definitely stop playing when they run out of capital, while men will continue playing until they really go bankrupt lol.

Especially on Facebook, you can see a lot of female influencers promoting their followers to gamble. It's like pretending that you won't lose when gambling because it's all about money.
gambling has become big business, it's no wonder why female influencers on Instagram, Facebook or TikTok promote gambling, well they make money for it.  however, what has been noticed is that men rarely promote online gambling on their social media unless they are streamers or vlogger.
672  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When the fun stops on: September 28, 2023, 05:35:17 PM
snip
I believe that most people end up messing themselves up with gambling because to them everything is money, money, money, and this can stop your brain from becoming a responsible gambler, the sense of protecting yourself from gambling addiction can get lost if you are already not having fun with gambling anymore.
if you lose when gambling then it can be called your bad day but if you win then it can be called your good day, apart from that, the reason for gambling is also very important, many gambler continue to gamble only for money, not fun (in fact they did not succeed in getting the money).  Becoming a responsible gambler is really not easy, there are many limits that must be obeyed, such as setting a gambling budget and so on.  In the end, you yourself must try hard to control your gambling activities, don't let it become destructive and no longer fun.
673  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do you believe Technical Analysis? on: September 27, 2023, 11:00:13 PM
Everyone knows that we can learn from the past to correct mistakes.
As a result, many economists attempt to predict the future through history.

We also have a known fact from the past.
The "Bitcoin halving" is correlated with price increases.

I'd like to pose a new question here.
What are your thoughts on using past charts(candlesticks) that similar current ongoing charts(candlesticks) to make price predictions?

When asked this question to many professors and investors, a common response is, "Candlesticks reflect the psychology of investors."

What are your thoughts on this matter?
A good trader doesn't just use technical analysis as a benchmark in making decisions, they also use fundamental analysis to make decisions because news on market sentiment and politics also have an important role in market changes, for example when you see a doji appearing then there must be one> the sense of uncertainty faced by investors is something like this that you can take into consideration.

For a more complete reading, you should go to the article i provided below, it explains well how candlesticks are.

Quote
Candlestick Definition
Candlestick is a visual tool that depicts fluctuations in an asset’s past and current prices. The candle has three parts: the upper shadow, the real body, and the lower shadow. Stock market analysts and traders use this tool to anticipate future movement in an asset’s price.

What Is a Doji?
A doji (dо̄ji) is a name for a trading session in which a security has open and close levels that are virtually equal, as represented by a candle shape on a chart. Based on this shape, technical analysts attempt to make assumptions about price behavior. Doji candlesticks can look like a cross, inverted cross, or plus sign.

674  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How do you manage your money on gambling sites. on: September 27, 2023, 10:20:30 PM
I've been following a few gambling channels on Twitter and Telegram, and whenever they share a screenshot of a bet slip or winning ticket, they occasionally also include the balance of their wallet. I've seen this happen several times, which made me wonder why they don't choose to withdraw their winnings instead of storing them in their gambling site wallet. Why do they leave that much in there, or is it simply for show off? A gambling expert should know better than to save their money on casino websites.

I always withdraw all my winnings and only deposit the right amount i want to use to gamble whenever i want to play a game. I’d like to know everyone’s opinion on which way is better and which one do you practice in managing your funds on gambling sites.
If you gamble on a trusted crypto gambling site, why should you withdraw all your winnings from there?  Does their reputation not make you feel comfortable to put your money there long enough?

i noticed on several online gambling sites that when you make a large withdrawal, their system will automatically detect it and you will make it a little difficult for them, so i never withdraw all the money that i win, i will withdraw it periodically, until reaching a certain nominal value, this is more of an ethical issue i think.
675  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: September 27, 2023, 09:58:22 PM

Everything still requires good and accurate calculations. We are currently at a relatively stable price, perhaps for a while Bitcoin in the current market provides more opportunities, especially for retailers or those who simply want to invest long term.

Actually, there is no asset that is 100% immune from inflation. Because even though market sentiment is moving aggressively, inflation conditions make people worry that they will not be able to survive the inflation cycle. Except for those who have a fixed income so they can control the Bitcoin they hold more freely.

Fud is good for balance if we can think from different directions. Someone who knows the risks of holding assets on a centralized exchange without trading them knows where to secure those assets. Because the main key in this case is securing it in a cold wallet. Exchanges are only for options when needed, not as a safe storage option, no matter how reputable a crypto exchange is, it does not guarantee anything that your assets will be completely safe. It's a different story for those who are active as day traders, the risk is much greater than for investors who secure assets in cold wallets.
every investor has different tricks, but looking at the last few months, i agree with you that the price of Bitcoin is sideways.  Michael Saylor is a good example, he buys bitcoins regularly based on DCA, and currently holds quite a lot of bitcoins, if he thinks too much when buying bitcoin then i'm sure he won't be able to find a decent price to buy bitcoin.

touching on the safest way to store bitcoin, well, saving in CEX is never a good option, i also store bitcoin in my personal wallet (currently i use an unstopable wallet), for me personally, Bitcoin is an asset that is immune to inflation, maybe the price is very volatile, but that is what really makes Bitcoin different from other investment instruments.

waiting for the DIP is good but waiting too long will only make us miss the train!!
so buy whenever your intention is strong lol
Waiting for the dip is not always good. Although I am not yet an investor, I have observed some movement in the Bitcoin price chat. I wanted to buy Bitcoin when I had the money and, as of then, Bitcoin was $20k, but I didn't buy it because I did not have information and any strategy that I could use to accumulate more coins whenever I have more money saved separately for investment. Since I joined this forum, I have learned how to apply the DCA method whenever I start accumulating BTC. Bitcoin investment is productive when an investor has a strategy.
well, you really missed the best price for buying bitcoin, well we will definitely find it difficult to see the price of bitcoin reach $20k again lol, yep the point of my post is to apply the DCA concept when buying bitcoin, and target it for the long term, the best strategy at the moment imo is buying bitcoin with the DCA concept.
676  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Never gamble in front of your kids. on: September 27, 2023, 09:44:33 PM
Hey gamblers' community, hope you're all doing great.
I wanted to convey my message here that gambling in front of our kids may put adverse effects on their growing minds and they may also take the wrong path and start gambling (either by asking you personally for funds or by stealing it in order to fulfill their gambling cravings).

I'm sharing this because I saw this issue with my kiddo who was once watching me gamble at a website playing blackjack and she started asking me more about the game. Then one day, she wanted to play it herself and asked me if she can go for it and I said "no, it's not your legal age to go for such games". So, it's better to keep our kiddos away from gambling and let them focus on their studies, else it'd actually ruin everything for the whole family if the kid takes the wrong path.
Children have a very big curiosity, it's hard to control their curiosity, from your story, it's your fault, why don't you play blackjack in a more private place, because your child has already seen you play blackjack, you must educate him about age limits and the negative impacts of playing blackjack at a young age who doesn't have his own income.

Now there is another problem that i think you have to control too, well that is friendship at school, usually children will share stories and start learning things that make them curious, you must supervise your children.
677  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling Education. on: September 27, 2023, 03:49:31 PM
Also, many countries have official gambling age but their citizens also violate this age standard.
All these abnormal ways of gambling promote gambling abuse and possible addiction which further makes gambling a societal menace.
I have not heard of gambling abuse before, it is called gambling addiction.

Instead of outrightly banning gambling, how about if the concerned countries officially include gambling education in their academic syllabus, just like sex education is taught in schools. Gambling education will teach the young ones the dangers of gambling and promote moderation in gambling. Will this not be a better way to handle the gambling cases?
Listen to yourself. You said gambling is banned in a country. How will the country have gambling education? If you take a look at the countries that ban gambling, their religion ban it. Example of religion that ban gambling are Islamic and Buddhism and some other religions. If such religions are common in a nation and they have political power, gambling is banned. Will they be the one that will introduce gambling education? No.
in some countries, their government is led by religious people, so their state regulations will definitely involve religious regulations, apart from that, even if a country bans gambling, education about gambling is something that must be done, the purpose is to minimize the misuse of loopholes in gambling.  so, education is like if you are armed with something to prepare yourself when it comes to you (when other people invite you to gamble or get involved in the gambling business), Moreover, with the increasing development of technology, it is difficult for the government to truly block all types of online gambling sites.
678  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: September 26, 2023, 09:44:24 PM

Probably not, but I believe most of us plebs are always checking the price at every hour of every day. I wake up in the middle of the night and check the price. Hahaha.

 Cool

But I have a question for all of you who regularly visit this topic. With the high probability of a recession coming in many regions of the world, do you actually believe that Bitcoin will not be affected by the crash of the legacy markets?

Plus if you do believe that a legacy crash will also cause a Bitcoin crash, wouldn't it be a good idea to wait for the DIP?

It doesn't need an answer. It's something for each of us to evaluate in our own "shower thoughts".
waiting for the DIP is good but waiting too long will only make us miss the train!!
so buy whenever your intention is strong lol

Bitcoin prices are strongly influenced by market sentiment, that is undeniable, in my view, investors are already quite aware of Bitcoin as an asset that is immune to inflation, investors will definitely move quickly when bad news arrives, they will definitely exchange their funds to Bitcoin as a protection for the value of the money they previously owned.

but well, we know, when the bitcoin market is moving positively we will be presented with FUD news such as crypto exchanges being hacked, bitcoin bad for the environment, bitcoin being banned again by the government and so on (you can investigate it yourself)

in the end, Politicians will always play with bitcoin for their own interests, don't think too much about the FUD against bitcoin that will continue to emerge, they have already designed that.
