662  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: (Ordinals) BRC-20 needs to be removed on: December 31, 2023, 01:45:01 AM
This is a good idea, but WHO would want to attack Bitcoin?

IMHO, it's most likely Davos (WEF & BlackRock)...

The only reason Ordinals is ever described as an aTtACk!!! is to trigger maxis tryhards into crying about it being an attack... It amuses the ordinals enjoooyors, and a few of you have swallowed their bait, hook, line and sinker.

The reality is there is no attack on bitcoin; bitcoin continues to do its thing exactly the way it should. It gives zero fucks about what you think it should be doing. You're left with 3 choices:

1) Soldier on with the way things are.
2) Innovate.
3) Keep crying.

663  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool Observer Topic on: December 30, 2023, 09:15:27 AM
BCH and BSV are waiting for you.

Not sure if this was meant to be an argument or a joke, please elaborate.

These are both examples of your desire to raise Bitcoin's blocksize limit already put into practice.

How did you conclude that i forget what block size is? I literally mentioned that in my previous post , but ya anyway, blocks have been capped at 4MB long before taproot, you could construct a block that large without taproot, it would just have to be a weird combination of transactions, but ya again, not sure what is the point of bringing this up.

I'm saying 4 MB is already pretty big. If you want bigger, go to BCH or BSV. Ultimately, the point is, even bigger blocks isn't a good solution. It's an easy solution but will eventually cause problems as we can already see with BSV.
664  Economy / Reputation / Re: Symmetrick/Ratimov - Memorial Thread. on: December 30, 2023, 09:06:38 AM
Well I will not say anything because I am not a professional English Speaker. And most in time it is misspelling of words or omission of words. And I am developing in it and recently, I didn't captured the first paragraph of the Op, really I was confused if Symmetrik formerly known as Ratimov could announced his owners dead, and I was contemplating with it and that was why I warned the Op.

The point people are trying to make to you is if you don't understand what it is you are commenting on, you don't need to leave a comment! You can just move on to something else. If you do make a comment, be prepared to run the risk of people questioning WTF you are talking about.
665  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mempool Observer Topic on: December 30, 2023, 08:20:03 AM
Exactly what I would do, raise the block limit to kill doge, eth, Solana, trx and every other major altcoin. Cheesy

BCH and BSV are waiting for you.

As for the rest of you're spiel, you're forgetting that blocks are already bigger, up to 4 MB as was proven with the first Taproot Wizards inscription.

Could satoshi imagine that instead of revolutionizing and developing cryptocurrency world, we would upload and sell dumb ape images on Bitcoin blockchain?

The dumb apes are but a small sliver of Ordinals transactions... It is 99% dominated by BRC-20 activity these days. This has actually been the case since May.

666  Other / Meta / Re: Why is this forum on SMF? on: December 30, 2023, 08:00:57 AM
The forum is a carry-over from the previous forums, which first existed at bitcoin.sourceforge.net and then bitcoin.org, where it used the same software as it does today (minus some modifications made by theymos and others over the years). SMF was the most popular type of forum software at the time -- it got the job done in terms of providing a place where people could discuss bitcoin and its development.

When satoshi references "the old forum" in his famous introduction post, he's referring to an even more primitive forum on SourceForge. Its hard to find many screenshots of it but it looked something like this:

Here's a good article about this history of The Bitcoin Forum, in all 3 of its iterations:

667  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have You Accomplished What Brought You to Bitcoin? on: December 30, 2023, 05:56:25 AM
If the goal was breaking free of a 9-to-5 wage slave life, with all the trappings and inconveniences that come with living an existence of mediocrity, then yes, I'd say I accomplished that. Being in bitcoin/crypto 100% does come with some sheer terror due to the volatility of the industry, and a lack of safety net afforded by regular jobs.

If the goal was to be filthy rich, then no, I am far from having accomplished that.  Cheesy

That's OK. At least I don't take orders from anyone or have to compete in the rat race. Having that peace of mind - along with being able to wake up whenever I damn well please - provides a great degree of satisfaction in my day-to-day existence.

This forum went soft after Lauda's departure.

If by "went soft" you mean people could once again voice independent opinions without the fear of being red tagged, then yes I agree.

@nutildah. On the Texans. How bad was Stroud's concussion and what type of performance will he give after this? It might be safer to give 1 point and bet on -3?

Well the Texans beat the Titans w/o Stroud, just two weeks ago. Apparently the injury was so bad that he had headaches for days afterward. Any normal human would just retire with their millions, lol. But these guys aren't normal. I'm not even a fan of Stroud but I see them stomping all over the Titans who have been eliminated from playoff contention & therefore have no reason to play as hard as their opponents.

My game of the week will be the Cowboys vs. the Lions. This will be the last game of the Cowboys in their home stadium. The home team might win but I am not quite certain if they can win -6 against the spread, however.

That's a toss-up b/c both teams already clinched playoffs spots, we could see either or both teams resting their key players. Being at home is of course still an advantage for the Cowboys.
671  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: (Ordinals) BRC-20 needs to be removed on: December 29, 2023, 08:12:44 AM
Will we soon have a new Bitcoin fork, Ordinalcoin?

I severely doubt this. Miners aren't going to run software that inhibits profit maximization. Its just not going to happen. An outright rejection of inscription activity imposed by devs is more likely to cause a chain split not in the favor of Ordinals Disrespectoors. We will have Bitcoin (BTC) as it is today and Ordinal Disrespectoor Coin (ODC), for maxi idealists that refuse to adapt to this new paradigm.

A middle ground, as I've been suggesting for months now, would be to place some kind of thoughtfully-placed limitation on taproot script length where things such as coinjoins are still under the data limit yet 1 MB monkey pictures are not.
672  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Spells of Genesis - Innovating the Game Economy with BitCrystals (BCY) on: December 29, 2023, 08:05:53 AM
Spells of Genesis was the OG NFT with actual use. Absolutely Legendary. I can't believe punks and apes got all the hype .. sad

Spells of Genesis is coming back in a big way, baby. They are now being hailed as the first set of digital collectibles on Bitcoin. Sales are back up, albeit mainly on Ethereum via EmblemVault. They got their own Curated Collection on OpenSea a few days ago, led to an increase in trading activity. I expect there to be another SoG rush once the bull market is officially back on.

Check it out for yourself, kind of interesting how it all works:

@ChiBitCTy. There can be an argument that the Ravens has the best defensive team in the NFL for the 2024 season and also arguably the best quarterback for the regular season this year, however, considering the team as a whole, I reckon the 49ers is the better team.

In any case, what was the points odds for this Browns vs. Jets game? I am quite certain the oddsmakers had it under 41 points speculating that this game will be low scoring hehehe.

Well, whatever it was, I'm sure the overs won it... It was a 57 point game in all. It was actually a great game, put me ahead to win the Biggest Loser Ladder thanks to an outstanding performance by Breece Hall and also an pick-6 for the Jets.

Fun watching Flacco actually be better than his former incarnation, despite being 38 years of age. He helped put the Browns in the playoffs for the 3rd time in 23 years.

Looking at this weekend's games:

- Miami vs. Baltimore will definitely be the game of the week, even though both teams have already clinched playoff spots... Its a crowd-pleaser matchup between two of the best of the best.

- Tampa Bay vs. New Orleans: both teams need the W to keep their playoff hopes alive.. Saints need a W and then a number of things to go right to have a spot... Line currently favors TB -2.5

- Texans absolutely need the W over the Titans to help their playoff chances. Seems like a lock for them.

- Colts need the W over the Raiders to have good chance of making the playoffs, Raiders are all but mathematically eliminated.

- Chicago vs. Atlanta: two shit-tier teams battling for a basically non-existent chance of making the playoffs.

- This is a "must win" game for the Rams over the Giants. Seems like a lock for the Rams.

- Another "must win" game for Seattle over the Steelers... Given what the Steelers managed to accomplish last week, its a closer toss-up than the line indicates IMO (currently -3.5 Seattle).

- Green Bay vs. Minnesota: this game is anyone's guess... The possibility of either team going to the playoffs seems unlikely; after this game only one of them will be eligible.

My picks for this week are therefore Texans @ -4 and Rams @ -5.5.

More AI spam by Fline Han. He truly doesn't get it.

Post #1:

The financial market (cryptocurrency) is moved by the decision of the people in the market, people are not easily predictable, AI in this space may be of an advantage to a certain level but it comes with limitations, bots are programmes, they cannot put into consideration what the didnt bargain for in thier codes, i think the following areas to be given a considerable consideration

1. Market Uncertainty: Cryptocurrency volatility poses challenges for AI predicting price changes.

2. Bias Risks: AI models can introduce biases, impacting fair decision-making in finance.

3. Security Vulnerabilities: Integrating AI with crypto raises security concerns and potential hacking risks.

4. Regulatory Complexity: Evolving crypto regulations create hurdles for AI implementation in finance.

5. Privacy Issues: Analyzing blockchain data with AI raises concerns about data privacy and ownership.

Cryptocurrency regulations for Bitcoin sales vary worldwide. Factors include legal status, AML/KYC requirements, licensing, taxation, securities regulations, and consumer protection. Regulations change, and it's crucial to stay updated with local laws and consult reliable sources for the latest information in your jurisdiction.

are there any noteworthy regulations that affect the sales of crypto that you can share?

I have ADHD

Even the guy who "invented" ADD and ADHD has come out and said that it is complete nonsense to sell drugs to kids.

LOL, that's horseshit. The first person to describe ADHD died in 1941, long before any drugs were used to treat it. I'm not a fan of doping up children with stimulants but you have to start not believing everything you read.

I've steered clear from interacting with this user as its pretty apparent they're a psycho troll and there's nothing that can be gained from such interaction. However, I do believe this person has always had this account and is behind their failed coin.

What our friend fails to grasp is that crypto projects are largely community-driven efforts. If there is no good leadership or sense of community, nobody will want to be part of the project, and thus it is doomed to fail. This rule still exists for coins with an overwhelming degree of technical merit.

While our friend may be mathematically brilliant, he is obviously hobbled by a complete lack of social skills and a profound stubbornness that inhibits his project's success. Unable to make this realization, he has chosen violence, blaming what appears to be the entire world for his self-induced failure.

He's far from being the only broken soul wandering the forum, however, and until he makes specific threats, banning him would go against the standard by which similar trolls are treated.

That game wasn't so much the Ravens playing great but the Niners playing bad.  The Niners beat themselves last night.

679  Economy / Reputation / Re: A clear change in the posting pattern. on: December 26, 2023, 11:46:03 AM
I think you're on to something here, and it appears this account has changed hands possibly twice over the years. However, the thing is, its always belonged to a shitposter, and for whatever reason that's less offensive to me than when an account that used to post intelligent stuff gets into the hands of a shitposter. So without conclusive evidence its not really worthy of any kind of tag IMO.

It looks like in its early days it was primarily used to enter contests -- probably part of an account farm all entering the same contests/raffles together.
680  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: December 26, 2023, 11:23:38 AM
Awesome game between Ravens and Niners -- possibly the two best teams in the league right now. That's a great pic DireWolf. Even though your team lost, I'm sure it was a lot of fun to be there.

I forgot there was 18 games this season, and we still have one more fantasy league game to go. Gonna be a showdown between two excellent teams. Good luck to both of you, whatever that means.

With any luck I can still win the consolation bracket and be the best loser, wee.

What is this a fucking AI?

Looks like he's putting newsbytes through a text spinner, what an asshat.
