I think I'm this round's yellow cap. It's my first one in multiple seasons, what do I get? Grin
Congratulations.

Basically a terrible round to be yellow cap at - so close between all of us and it made me climb only 1 position.
Both joca97 and jayce had a good round too, so I didn't even close the gap to the top spots.
You replace me in 6th place, so that is progress in a very tight season.
I will be coming back for my spot next weekend or maybe a higher one  Cool.

It could be a great idea to have like a newsletter one a month of the most intriguing things going on in here Smiley
I planned to start something like this[1] up a couple of months back, but never got to kickstart the idea.

For one the poll voted that they will not be interested and it will be something I may not be able to keep up with consistency, so I opted against starting it up but may reconsider my decision if there is any reason to do so.

Bitcoin might be not really money
Bitcoin is really money. It is more real than cash that is backed by nothing and can simply be printed out of thin air.

I understand the reference to magic internet money, but I feel it gives a vagueness to Bitcoin when everything is verifiable and transparent and can be easily understood by everyone who tries to.
Cash on the other hand is what has all the mysteriousness about it.

Bitcoin is real internet money.

664  Other / Meta / Re: [TELEGRAM] Yet Another BitcoinTalk Notification BOT (merits, mentions, topics,+) on: October 29, 2023, 11:29:11 AM
I wanted to propose the idea of integrating a functionality within your bot to deliver notifications for incoming PMs.
PMs are private information. TryNinja's bot can only scrape publicly available data, for it to get access to PMs it needs log in access to the different profiles which is an addition I do not think he wants to make or the users will be keen to use.

You picked maybe the only team in the world that makes your thesis float Smiley
Napoli and Inter Milan are also good examples last season. They had very good champions league runs last season and did great in the league too, winning the Scudetto and reaching top 4 respectively. I am sure there are a couple of other examples, besides the top teams (Real Madrid, Bayern, Barcelona in their prime and maybe Atletico Madrid).

I also agree that with the squad of Tottenham the fewer matches they need to play, the better for them.
A fitting end to the battle between Wolves and Newcastle. The only downside is the injury picked up by Neto, I really hope he gets well soon.

666  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Mempool pool unmined transaction on: October 28, 2023, 12:52:06 PM
When a memory pool pending transaction isn't picked up by any miner it's beign sent back after 48 days at most ,
A pending transaction is not sent back, it never even left the sending wallet at any point.
For the transaction to be cancelled it has to be dropped from the mempool of majority of nodes for the transaction making it unavailable for miners to add to their blocks.
The default time for this to happen is 14 days, but can always be higher or lower depending on the nodes specifications.

Note that the transaction can be rebroadcasted at any point during this time.

...why don't it just get pushed for a miner instead ??  since it will still be resent again and a miner will definitely  mine it or is it just to ease the stress of Sender client from worrying about his sent Btc.
There is no definiteness that a transaction will be confirmed. The sender needs to bump the fee most of the times before the transaction can be confirmed.

...no Europe games will help keep the squad fresh.
I have always had the theory that a successful European football campaign helps a club's league performance and not the opposite.
Sure it is more matches to prepare for but it is not a remarkable amount of football (14 in UCL) and there are pockets of spaces for the team to prepare effectively for their next match and take it one at a time.

If the team can build good momentum in both competitions like City did last season, they can better themselves overall and make it difficult for teams to play against them.
Out of the 5 premier league titles City has won, I think they got to the semi final of the UCL in 3 or 4 of those occasions.

All your questions are not related to meta board.
You can move them to reputation board, the option is at the bottom left.

being a fan but not going to do some research about the players and team conditions, how am i going to participate in sports betting specifically on the NBA?
You need to do at least the basic research on the team condition and players performances before placing a bet. All of that info is what helps direct your predictions.
You can participate without in-depth understanding but that is just taking blind selections based on your whims, will not end well.

Tottenham will now surely be topping the league at the end of this matchweek and their fans will be believing now that they may be returning to champions league football at the end of this season after a couple of years out. They will need more time at the top to really start dreaming about the league and believing those dreams.

Lucky to get the correct score. I hoped Palace will score but did not really expect them to.

671  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: "Mattress Mack" loses nearly 10 million dollars on Astros Loss on: October 26, 2023, 08:09:32 PM
could you ever bet millions if you had it?
No.

I honestly do not risk too much into bets when I gamble. It's something I do for fun to test my proficiency in predicting a sport I love to watch, staking excessively will take away a chunk of the fun. I'll rather stake low with the chance to win a low reward, than risk a ridiculous amount.

Brighton are you one goal at half time. If they can manage to hold on for the win it all give them 3 massive points in their quest to qualify from the group stages. Their's is one of the tightest groups in the competition with only 1 point now between the first, second and third placed teams on the table. A victory will also help boost their dip in form in their domestic league.

Ajax are a good side and can always turn the game around.

I do not care for their rankings and market cap valuation but I appreciate seeing a decentralized asset which the authorities cannot control climbing the top of their rankings. Bitcoin is a game changer and will almost certainly rise to number 1 within the next 20-30 years.

674  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: October 25, 2023, 05:56:02 PM
But however the challenges Manchester City is currently having is the injury of there key players, which there absence has really affected the performance of the team but however I believe with time they will come back and when they do they will become unbeatable.
Manchester City does not have an injury problem, it is just unfortunate that Debruyne will be out for about two more months or so.

An injury problem will be having more than 3 of the first team players out with injuries. Take Barcelona for example, they are without Lewadoski, Raphina, Pedri, Frankie Dejong, and Kounde. City can cope without Kevin.

Emphatic performance from Barcelona in the first half. They have dominated the game from the start and could have easily been more than two goals ahead at the break. Fermin missed a couple of chance but made up with a beautiful strike from the edge of the box.
If they finish strong it will be a huge boost for the El classico this weekend.

Feynoord also are leading by two goals to nil. If they hold on to the end it will do them a lot of good in the battle to qualify from that group.

676  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Michael Saylor talks about Bitcoin, and you WILL be disappointed on: October 25, 2023, 03:49:01 PM
...we should not dwell on what public figures say or do about BTC...
I totally agree with this. Bitcoin does not care about who holds it nor does it have an entry barrier to accommodate the rich. It only recognizes the data and ensures that data is immutable.

People who hold bitcoin also should not care who else is holding and should not allow anyone else determine their decisions made. Check the data which is publicly available and make a decision on it. Someone being rich enough to buy a bunch of bitcoins and influential enough to make a public show of it does not mean you should take advice from them.

Do your own research!

677  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you leave the country or will you stay, stand up and fight for your right? on: October 25, 2023, 03:37:19 PM
If this law is eventually legalized, we are going to have Bitcoiners who would be persecuted and jailed for wanting to fight it. There are going to be Bitcoin martyrs. Will you leave the country and take your Bitcoin with you, or will you stay and stand up and fight (non-violently) for your rights?
Moving with a family is not something easily done or the decision made by one party. It also needs heavy funding to be successful which is not available to everyone. This drops the chances of anyone moving cause of these laws to below 1%.

The two most realistic options is to either accept the regulations and live with it or reject the regulations and stay completely off the radar.

But when it comes to performance and for the continuation of the season I still won't be too worried even though they are currently in second place but I am quite sure that Manchester City are the strongest candidates for the title again.
I support Arsenal and I will love for them to win the league title this season, but I have to agree that currently City has the class and abilities of champions and it will be a herculean task to pry it from their fingers. They have an insane squad depth and come up with new dynamism for different opponents unlike other teams that have a more singular approach to difficult matches. They are of course helped by having more money to spend than some of the other teams but the bulk of the work is done by effective scouting and player management.

Can Arsenal win the league this season? Maybe...
Will they win the league sometime in the next 5 years if Arteta stays and the board backs him up? Definitely.

679  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Champions League 2023/24 Season on: October 25, 2023, 03:21:26 PM
My highlight of tonight's champions league fixtures has to be Newcastle hosting Borussia Dortmund. St' James pack completely hoarded the Parisians and they gave a dream return to champions league at their home stadium. Here comes the second fixture at home and Dortmund will definitely be expecting the atmosphere and working to slow down the pace of the game as much as possible to reduce any chance of a momentum being built. They have shown to have a decent defense this season and will want to show an example of that again.

Over at the Estadio Olympico, Barcelona will want to make it 3 wins out of three matches in the early kick off of the evening. Their form has not been the best and the team is haunted with injuries but they have enough quality to their opponents tonight.

680  Other / Meta / Re: Unofficial list of (official) Bitcointalk.org rules, guidelines, FAQ on: October 23, 2023, 04:44:31 PM
...
mpep has answered this previously on this thread, or better still linked a response from theymos on his opinions

Here is the highlight which touches on your question;
EDIT: In regards to automated translations from non-English to English, I've PMed theymos about it, specifically with the following questions:

  • What is the exact policy on automated translations (both English -> local, as well as local -> English)?
  • When is it [read: automated translations] prohibited?
  • When is it allowed (e.g. possible scenarios or situations)?
  • When is it arguable and up to the moderator's discretion?

Here's what he had to say (publishing this with his permission, of course):

...
In the English sections, the policy should generally be to ignore whether or not it's autotranslated, and evaluate the post on its merit. Bad grammar is obviously not disallowed, but if it's so bad (due to autotranslation or otherwise) that the post is basically incomprehensible, then it's a useless post and should be deleted. If it's translated from elsewhere, then you should generally act the same as if the source was originally in English, asking questions like:
 - Is the quote useful/on-topic in the post's context (especially after being mangled a bit through translation)?
 - Is the user just finding stuff to copy in order to bulk up his posts?
 - Is the user passing this off as his own when it's actually not?
