661  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do star players affect the odds of a match bet? on: September 11, 2023, 11:58:50 PM
Let's think of it this way;
If Al Nassr didn't have Mane and Ronaldo, they wouldn't be almost heavy favorites in every match, right?
The fact that Ronaldo and Mane's names are in the starting XI every game shows that Al Nassr are heavy odds-on favorites against their opponents, which could indicate that Al Nassr can score at least 2-3 goals every game. Looking at their last games, Al Nassr have managed to score 4 goals or more, almost all of them scored by Mane and Ronaldo.

Understandably so, star players go the extra step to contribute more than their fair share in the team to help achieve and claim the win in a game. So their presence in any game would obviously have to be taken into consideration hence having such effects on the odds of a game.

I read someone’s comment about how star players may very well affect the odds of a game, they may not necessarily affect the outcome at the end and I quite agree. We’ve seen games where top teams with the best players, being favorites and having the best odds to win the game go up against smaller clubs and lose.

"Innocent until proven guilty", remember the case of Mendy of Manchester City, he was accused of multiple cases of rape by more than one woman, but in the end of it all he was not guilty, but he had already lost 2 years of his career.

I think these footballers should also be protected, too many of these accusations turn out to be false and nobody talks about the extent of the damage done to the player. I am not justifying people who abuse the opposite sex, and i believe if anyone is found guilty of that they should be vigorously dealt with, but what's going to happen and who's going to pay for damages if the accusation is false.

Accusations like these, when finally proven to be false would have had devastating effects on the professional career as well as the personal life of the player.
More often in these cases,  we’re too quick to judge and condemn the player when faced with accusations like rape. Understandably, rape cases is widely frowned on and definitely shouldn’t be condoned but it would be nice if we could hold on to our perhaps, feigned wrath until the charges are proved.

Obviously, no one wants to associate or seem to be defending or covering up for someone accused of rape. That’s why clubs are sometimes too quick to do away with a player whenever the player is accused.
663  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The power of influencials and brand ambassadors, don't fall for it. on: September 11, 2023, 10:27:56 PM
Admittedly, a whole lot of these influencers have little knowledge of what they’re trying to pitch to their followers. A lot only do so only cause of what they stand to gain without giving much thought on the sincerity of the project itself nor to their audience they’re trying to sell the project to.

Some influencers do care about their reputation and influence they’ve got on their platform and wouldn’t be willing to propagate just any product but can as well be fooled into accepting a scammy project that was beautifully designed to look legit.

In essence, we should not take the word of anyone(especially influencers)as truth without first, doing a bit of research about it. Opinions of influencers shouldn’t necessarily be adopted as ours.
664  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Nothing compares to BITCOIN, know this and know peace on: September 11, 2023, 09:42:20 PM
Beginners, if I were you I would be less worried about Bitcoin, it's proven already, and I will be more worried about others, the journey of making money through Alts is full of thorns, stay safe out there.

I agree. The journey of investing with the intention of making some money with alt coins is in my opinion, risky if you haven’t much idea on what you’re doing. People venturing newly into the crypto space have little knowledge about bitcoin and even have a lesser understanding about the numerous alt coins out there.

Bitcoin has and is continuing to prove itself, aggressively withstanding the test of time despite major pushback from governments and financial institutions. A lot of alt coins have been put out there combined with the creation of CBDCs, all in a bid to rival the dominance of bitcoin in the crypto space but bitcoin has surpassed them all. Your money is better off in bitcoin than any in alt coin I know.

On here, a legendary member may be ignorant and may also spread false information as truth but it  would be quickly debunked and corrected by other members who are more knowledgeable on that subject.

Are you calling me ignorant and spreading false rumors?
What false rumor, what am I ignoring and what do you illiterate money can hope to debunk?

Never said nor did I imply you were ignorant or spreading misinformation. You clearly misunderstood me.

The post I replied to made a point on how for some, number of likes and retweets can indicate factual information. Bringing it closer to home, on how information from legendary accounts could be considered accurate compared to one from a newbie. I replied that unlike Twitter where misinformation could quickly spread from an account with a large following, it would be difficult to tout misinformation as truth on here as there are knowledgeable people ready to debunk such information.

What do I know anyways, I’m just an illiterate money.

666  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bank vs Crypto: Are they opposites? on: September 08, 2023, 11:08:29 AM
There are some potential conflicts between banks and crypto. For example, banks are concerned that crypto could reduce the use of fiat currency and reduce their revenue from services such as credit cards and loans. Additionally, banks are concerned that crypto could be used for illegal activities such as money laundering and terrorist financing.

Banks shouldn’t be concerned just yet about the so called reduction of the use of fiat currency. Fiat money is for now, what’s legally recognized as money, used as the medium of exchange and somewhat unrivaled as the primary means of making payments so banks shouldn’t fret.

Banks concerned about crypto being used to launder money and fund terrorists? More like unhappy they’re losing out on the revenue that would have been gotten from laundering the funds themselves. Financial institutions have long been used to launder funds as well as fund terrorist organizations and activities perhaps unwittingly.
667  Other / Off-topic / Re: Keeping your gambling habit a secret. on: September 08, 2023, 02:40:43 AM
Some people that are addicted hide their gambling activities because they believe if people notice the amount they spend on gambling, then they will be blamed. Some people might end up spending money that is supposed to be spent on their family members on gambling, which is wrong, so they won’t want their family members to know they are spending that amount of money on gambling.

Also, for some people, gambling is illegal in their religion, and most of them want to gamble, so they will rather gamble and keep it secret so that people won’t see them as bad people, so they decide to keep it a secret.

Anyone being responsible whenever gambling shouldn’t have to hide that they play sometimes.
A man who gamble irresponsibly may simply want to hide the fact that he’s gambling irresponsibly. And when it’s hidden from friends and family that could talk some sense into him, it would gradually turn into an addiction and when it gets to that point, it then becomes not so easy to hide anymore.

Asides from being an irresponsible person who could spend money budgeted for something really important and after losing out, would in shame, try to hide what actually happened to the money and perhaps also for religious purposes, I see no reason on why someone, despite being responsible enough when gambling would want to hide the fact from anyone.
It’s one thing to live a private life and it’s another to actively go the extra mile to hide the fact that you gamble sometimes for fear of what people might say.
668  Economy / Economics / Re: for anyone interested in how much their personal data is worth on: September 08, 2023, 01:13:16 AM
Considering the data of a user on an app can be sold for as little as under a dollar, one can only imagine the sheer number of user data being sold to various organizations and also on a regular basis. These social media platforms repeatedly affirm on how they’re all about user privacy and how they care about ours only to go ahead to sell off tits bit of information about loads of users using their platform.
These information being sold may seem not important and even harmless but harmless information collected overtime, when put together, could become valuable and potentially harmful.

Going through the article, I came upon the phrase; “If you're not paying, then you're the product”. I then thought about how I’m not paying Elon to use Twitter and I chuckled quietly.
669  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How are we going to beat the reptilians when monkeys are kicking our ass? on: September 07, 2023, 11:58:43 PM
This alone is worth a thing we should give a second thought on, what will be the next phase of transaction fees when all the block reward are no more, could the incentives from transaction fees be satisfactory or give enough income as they have been having of all time, though this is a bitcoin community and i believe one thing is sure, which is the assurance of us crossing whenever we get to that stage.

By the time the block rewards are gone, the price of bitcoin would probably be through the rooftop and for transactions, the fees would likely increase just enough to continue to motivate miners.

Even the trust here is based on the number of merits you have collected, so incorrect information from a legendary account can be more accurate than correct information from a newbie account. Everything that happens confirms our failure to find an accurate and impartial crypto source of information and therefore is not suitable for beginners.

I guess on here, legendary members are thought to have gathered accurate information themselves during the journey from lower ranks, enough to teach and correct the misconception of new members.
On here, a legendary member may be ignorant and may also spread false information as truth but it  would be quickly debunked and corrected by other members who are more knowledgeable on that subject.
670  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: September 07, 2023, 10:56:00 PM
Newcastle their performance is quite bad considering how seriously they took last season and how they even made it into the Champions League. Their games was really brave and I thought the team would play well this season and we would see the results of how they were playing. Due to the Champions League's upcoming arrival, the coach may have his own strategy for the team. He may decide to keep certain players around so that they can perform well in the competition, the players are weak in the Premier League may become strong in the Champions League because the club hasn't participated in the Champions League in a while.

Given how poorly they performed last season, I'm very very by how West Ham is winning games this year. I wasn't expecting Newcastle United to make a comeback in that aspect.

Their performance so far has been far below what I had imagined. They were a team that was really strong to contend with and had finished the last season really well giving me, as well as others I’m sure the impression of going harder and playing even better this new season.

Having won only one game and losing the rest, it sure hasn’t been the performance a lot of fans had expected. Last season, they seemed daring and coordinated, always pressing on for one more goal. It hasn’t been an easy ride this few games but things may turn around soon.

Brighton and Newcastle, two clubs I had thought would storm this season with a lot of pressure are both having a not so good run at the moment.
671  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Minimum Age to gamble on: September 07, 2023, 08:24:39 PM
I came across an article How Old Do You Have to Be to Gamble in USA?. In this article, i saw that the minimum age to gamble is between 18 to 21 years. I wonder if the online casino do follow this minimum age for gambling.

Yes, the gambling sites have our age data through the KYC documents. Do they ever restrict anyone who is underage to not to gamble?
Also, if we find any site allowing minors to gamble, can legal action be taken against them?

I think it’s generally acceptable that kids shouldn’t be gambling. Hence I think 18 years of age is appropriate for an individual to legally gamble. A lot of countries recognize and consider an 18 year old individual to be an adult and is understood to be mature enough to know and understand any and all actions taken and if any, deal the consequences later on.

I think most gambling sites accepts just about anyone willing to spend money on its site. I’m pretty sure there are lots of underage gamblers who without undergoing KYC, gamble. Gambling sites may not require KYC until an issue pops up or the amount won is quite large then the site would want to verify such user.
I think legal action could and should be taken against casinos that are oblivious to minors gambling on their site.
672  Economy / Economics / Re: To afford personal education or a property? Where to allocate funds? on: September 07, 2023, 07:56:02 PM
It all depends on you, but if the first choice is the best, you will not think about the second choice Wink it's mean buying a property is better than personal education for you.

You may have a point there. If we’re so sure of the first choice, then we probably wouldn’t be considering this much a second or third option.
The importance and the relevance in having an education to be enable to land a sweet paying gig that pays really well is dwindling.

Assets that could steadily bring in income is every business owners dream. Having a formal education is important but it can always be acquired whenever the person is ready while the asset to be acquired would not remain on the market till when you’re ready.
673  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: September 07, 2023, 07:33:21 PM
0 wins in 3 consecutive matches is proof that Luton Town is a team that is too weak in the Premier League. It is hoped that several of the players brought in will be able to make this team compete well in the competition, but it will be very difficult to expect them to rise and be in the top 10 of the standings.

Agreed. Luton Town is seemingly the weakest of the bunch. For now anyways as there are still a lot of games to play. Having been just promoted to the EPL, they seem to be struggling and it’s obvious from the games they’ve played so far as they haven’t managed to bag a win.
The last game with West Ham wasn’t any better. They managed to score a consolation goal at the tail end of the game, perhaps in a bid to appease the home crowd.
They most likely have envisaged and are finding out about the stiff competition to be faced in the EPL.
674  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: September 07, 2023, 06:33:22 PM
I honestly do not think keeping Salah was a smart decision. He is 30+ years old, getting 100+ million for him would have been an amazing deal for them. He is an Arabic player who would play in an Arabic league, which would have been a great marketing for Saudis, and meanwhile Liverpool could have kept that money and if they really need someone, they could buy one next summer.

He’s getting older but he still manages to play a huge role at Liverpool and that’s why Liverpool still finds him useful and still retained him. They’ve obviously weighed their options and still thought it’s a smart decision to keep him. Asides all that, money does not influence the decision of every player as some players aren’t amazed by the sheer size of the amount offered by Saudi Arabia to come over to play in their local leagues.
I still think he would still be offered an equally amazing deal whenever he’s ready to leave Liverpool. And then, he could comfortably afford to leave after playing for the glory at the European Premier League.
675  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Betting Features on any Banking or Financial apps should be Removed on: September 07, 2023, 04:20:23 PM
My submission is that betting features on any banking or financial apps should be removed to discourage compulsive gambling and irresponsible gambling. Do you agree with this perspective?

I can understand your point. Financial apps today, has  made it real easy to fund your betting accounts as well as paying for other services. There are also gamblers who gamble responsibly who find it easy and quite useful too to fund their accounts from their banking apps.

Banks are getting smarter and of course for a small negligible fee, are  trying to provide services so account holders can easily pay different bills and fund various services without having to leave your comfort zone.
You won't take away a service cause some people have overtime become irresponsible with their habits.
676  Economy / Economics / Re: How to avoid over expenses and have discipline on: September 06, 2023, 11:59:10 PM
1. Make a realistic budget
This one should really be that relevant or something that i would really be recommending considering that having a proper budget allocation would be always that ideal because you do already allocate
budget on a certain thing which you do already have the idea on what and where to spend those allocations which would really be basing up.Going excessively? Then you would be needing to
compensate and this would be through adding more income via investment or on having other jobs that you could do.

Anyone could make a budget and can still end up end up not following through with it. But with a realistic budget and plan, following through on the budget would seem easier.
We all know what we spend money excessively on and if we could try and cut down on irrelevant things, that would be a start towards being responsible on our spending. I think a realistic budget, when planned right and followed up judiciously, it would definitely help curb unnecessary expenses reducing all the expenses and making some extra money left towards doing something better.

677  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Casinos Should Also Be Prepared For Health Emergencies on: September 06, 2023, 11:25:02 PM
You don't have to stop the dealer, it should be the initiative of the dealer to at least get some call and help from guards or other staff that can assist him in that situation. Yeah, other players can also do that but they have no accountability as they're on their own. But as an employee, we all know that they take into account customers' experiences and concerns. And it's not just about it, it's about humanity and compassion but seems it's not there during that time.

No one noticed the man until it was too late and he was already gone. I’m pretty sure that if someone did, he would have been taken care of and wouldn’t have died. No one, including the dealer should have to babysit anyone as casinos expect their customers to come in healthy enough to spend their money.
Agreed, as an employee, he may have an obligation to make the customer have a good experience but again, no one quickly noticed the man had a problem. I’m sure the dealer would have called for some sort of medical help onsite before being rushed to a hospital. No one is at fault here.
678  Economy / Economics / Re: CBDCs are created for unemployment purpose on: September 06, 2023, 05:32:09 PM
CBDCs, whenever it’s implemented won’t be taking away jobs in the banking sector. It would be replacing the traditional paper money system but banks would still require personnel for all sorts of duties to enable the bank work smoothly. ATMs and online banking services would have taken the cashiers job in the bank but cashiers are still with a job.
There would always be people working for the banks and CBDCs being implemented in the near/far future won’t change much. I also think if/when CBDCs are implemented for use, paper money won’t be totally eliminated and may still be used alongside.
679  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: September 06, 2023, 04:15:03 PM
After dominating both the first and second halves of the encounter, it would have been a shocking outcome if Arsenal had lost to Manchester. Arsenal performed as though they owned the game, the stadium, the ball possession, and the three points. After drawing their previous match against Fulham, they felt as though their match against Manchester United was a must-win for them.

I didn’t think Manchester United had much chance of success in that game. Arsenal was simply the better prepared team and was justly rewarded with the win. I had hoped and rooted for Man United to have a win in that game and yes, It would have been a bit surprising if United would come out the victor.
After the tight game with Fulham that ended with a draw, Arsenal had gone into the game desperate for the win. My hopes increased when Rashford scored and I was still somewhat hopeful in the second half. Ultimately, my hopes was dashed as Arsenal scored two late goals to win the game.
680  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: September 06, 2023, 10:22:29 AM
I think Manchester United players are cursed. After Mason Greenwood was under investigation because of sexual assault and he had bad days, this time another palyer from Manchester United, Antony, the Brazilian winger got the same problems.
They say this palyer attacked his wife while she was pregnant.
Even Brazil's national team put this player out of the teams because of that while nothing is clear yet.

In the history of football and particularly in the EPL, It’s just Manchester United that has players who have been accused of one thing or another, right? So they must surely be cursed. Very ridiculous take.
It’s unfortunate if he really did what is alleged but it’s definitely not only Man United players who have been accused of things like this in the past.

While I think it’s absurd to say United is cursed cause of this incident, I think they haven’t been so lucky in their performance lately and do need to improve soon.
I liked Antony and his style of play.
